The Angel View Inn in Gateshead

We were traveling from rotterdam to home in Scotland in our motorhome and found this great hotel that allows motorhomes to park up much like an Ayre. On arrival we were told the bar open till 11pm. We also paid for electric hook up and had breakfast there as well. We took the dog a nice walk after breakfast next to the angel of the north! Staff really helpful and friendly, will certainly keep you guys in mind next time we're on the move!

Do not recommend the Bottomless brunch here. Arrived early for booking, yet it was almost 15 mins past the start time before any drinks arrived. No bottles of prosecco on the table (coz apparently that would work out too expensive!). So you had to order it by the glass along with the other drinks. The cocktails were tiny - and mostly foam. Gone after about 2 mouthfuls. They would not serve us another drink till we'd literally finished the one we had, which literally meant gulping it down or leaving it. Though some staff were better about this than others. Last orders weren't coordinated with our actual start time. The food was ok, though the burger and fries were on the small side. Honestly, for the same price, £35 per head, you can and should go elsewhere.

We stopped at the Angel View Hotel the last couple of days. Our room was in the Stables courtyard which was a quiet and very comfortable room and had a beautiful outlook onto the well maintained garden. We ate in the restaurant twice and both throughly enjoyed our meals. The breakfasts were generous and well cooked. All the staff were very attentive, efficient and polite. My husband gave lecture in the Mulberry room which was laid out with all the necessary facilities. We had a buffet lunch which had a wide variety of different hot and cold item to choose from. You can indeed see the Angel of the North from the hotel and there is a pleasant field across from the hotel with numerous seats to enjoy the view. We would definitely stay at the Angel view again, thank you.

I always give 4 stars cause I find there's room for improvement but on this occasion I don't really have anything to criticise about except 1 this is me being picky Personally the breakfast could do with some work on overall from the moment we walked through the door to a beautiful old type barn some of the pictures and a few items would look better in our home and located so close to the angel of the north which we had a lovely view of from our room the lady on reception was so welcoming which is a nice touch the room was perfect for what we needed the bar is always a good experience we stayed here due to wedding will definitely stay again and recommend

Had private room for family meal, food served later than said but absolutely delicious. Staff friendly and helpful so didn't mind the wait.

I've stayed at the angel view previously many years ago. I've recently spent two nights there again with my partner. This hotel is simply amazing the rooms are lovely the food is absolutely beautiful and most of all all the staff are super nice extremely friendly and go above and beyond for your requirements. The young girls who served my food and the lady who does the breakfasts were brilliant and made the stay so lovely I didn't want to leave. I will be staying here again and again and highly recommend

We stayed in the carpark in our motorhome. An excellent stop of enroute to Scotland. The £10 charge is deducted if you eat in the restaurant which offers a great choice on the menu. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

Excellent value for money hotel. It's a little "tired", but represents such great value for money in an ideal spot. Staff bend over backwards to help you. Our second visit. It won't be the last.

This hotel is to die for. Have stayed here on a few occasions the rooms are lovely very clean very well presented the staff who run the place are sweet and very helpful. They now know me quite well so always get a nice greeting. Breakfast is very good well presented and plenty off. The lady who deals with the breakfast is a real delight always ready to have a chat. I would highly recommend the hotel to stay at.

Stayed here last night in our motorhome with my wife. It was absolutely brilliant. First off it was only £20 to stay the night which Includes the electric hookup, absolute bargain! We went in to the venue and had some of, if not the best food I have ever had! Which was also very reasonably priced, including a few alcoholic drinks. The place is clean, tidy, the staff are very very friendly and helpful and there is even Live Football on the telly, bonus! Definitely returning here soon for food again 😋 All in all I can't......WE CAN'T recommend this place enough.

Absolutely lovely stay here,Rooms were lovely,warm and cozy,the breakfast in the morning was fantastic 😋😋 lovely views of the Angel of the North and the outside of the hotel was amazing 🤩

It's a lovely little place to go for food and a couple of drinks, we're stuffed. A nice place for a cheeky date after work. Staff were great, the food and drinks came very fast. Reasonably priced as well. It was a little quiet and I don't know how.

We had our wedding reception at the Angel View yesterday and we can’t recommend them enough. Danielle helped us all the way and organised everything perfectly. She went above and beyond. All the staff were amazing especially Tom who was so friendly and helpful. The food was great and plenty of it. Thank you again from Mr & Mrs Williams X

I've stayed there a few times and been lucky enough to get the same room great location for transport into town will definitely be back

Very disappointed with the quality of the cooked breakfast. The only thing that was hot, on the freezing cold plate was the scrambled egg. Both bacon and sausages were over done. Will not be eating there again.

1 st week here so far really good Food spot on & lots of it at really good prices staff 5* really clean rooms great pint of Guinness & a good view of the angel . Update as I go 5*

We came here on the 7/10/24 to the 8/10/24 There was some great points The service we received from the staff was awesome. Very polite & helpful. Just what you need from a hotel. The hotel was clean. The food on the night time was amazing. The area was beautiful The bad points were The breakfast was meh. The pastries were solid & had the day before date on them (7/10) the paint work was messy & didn't seem like it was done by a professional. Also, the paint work in certain areas could do with a top up. The room we had, had holes in by the window. Like someone had hit it with a blunt object. The outside sitting area by the fields, looked like someone had dumped all their rubbish in it Overall, you get what you pay for it

My family came for a meal. Was amazing would highly recommend. Free parking and plenty of spaces

We’ve just had food at The Angel & it was amazing, we had fish & chips which were HUGE aswell as cooked to perfection & the fungi pasta which was so so tasty! Alan the chef always produces amazing food & we cant wait to return for Sunday lunch.

Great location across the road from the Angel of the North. Very well presented building and grounds. Ample free parking. Staff were lovely. Very clean building and room. Bath in room. Reasonable price. Regular amenities in room that you'd expect from a 3-star hotel (kettle, hairdryer, tv etc). Beds were very comfortable. Peaceful. Restaurant on site doing good food (although closes at 5pm which is a bit early) Genuinely one of the best hotels we've stayed in!

Met up with friends to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary. Evening meal with wine overnight stay and breakfast. Was great 👍

Food was good, nice selection of different dishes. Limited selection for our daughter who requires a gluten free diet - however she was happy with her gluten free pasta!

On ringing before booking was advised couple of steps to reception, as we are disabled, untrue the hotel is full of stairs everywhere we went, breakfast 1st morning was cold, 2nd morning was all finished and closed been told breakfast was 8am till 10am . Not told 7am till 9am on a weekday , fortunately the lady that was there helped us out and got our breakfast definitely a different cook was lovely. Thank you, cook, and thank you to the lady who did all she could for us . So to say, won't be rebooking, please, any disabled people double-check with stairs, etc . The room was ok but full of dust on top of wardrobe hanging over, not good for people with copd or any breathing problems like myself

Lovely little stopover for the night.. Ideal location for the road network north or south, Short run out to Newcastle centre or the Metrocentre only 10mins up the road.. Food from the restaurant was tasty and well presented and the staff were very welcoming.. Will definitely stay again when in the area...

Good food, plenty of parking space.

Warm friendly welcome from staff at check-in. Lovely clean room and bathroom, (Idropped a star for the very squeaky floorboards in our room, sorry). A member of the party has severe food allergies, these were coped with without fuss or drama, unlike in other places. Waiting staff were excellent. Excellent quality and variety on the menu and good value too. Similarly with breakfast.

Amazing Angel burger loved it. We had food after our visit to the Angel of the North heading to Scotland.

Nice food and the staff were lovely

I stayed there for 3 days. Room was small, clean but it was bit damp, no ventilation and windows, heating was switched off and it was cold at night. The staff was friendly they did their best to make my visit comfortable. I am not to keen to visit again I prefer rooms without damp and with some ventilation. The view outside hotel are nice. There are few walking trails nearby.

Bottomless brunch is by far the best we’ve ever done, absolute quality for money and the drinks are endless, Tom behind the bar is a legend nothing was a bother to him, we will definitely be back

We're able to get a room at short notice and indeed booked each day for three nights. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Ate in the restaurant one night and the food was very good and plenty of it. The place is a bit dated but the location is good. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious hot chocolate with a view!! Warm welcoming staff too Went back for Sunday dinner and it was outstanding! A fantastic buffet with the most delicious food. Went again today and had a great meal, 2 courses for £11.95. Such friendly service and will definitely be back

Great Sunday Lunch, fantastic service

Called in for lunch and it was amazing, I had the chicken and halloumi Greek gyros and it was so tasty, would definitely recommend.

Lighting in the roon was very poor. Also couldn't turn 1 radiator off, so spent the night on top of the bed as too hot. Therefore got very little sleep. The evening meal was fantastic, very tasty & excellent value. Staff were all excellent & very helpful.

Went for Christmas Dinner. Ordered the hand carved sirloin of beef, what came was shop bought beef slices. Was the same with the turkey. Definitely was not worth the £75 per person. Will be going somewhere else next year.

Never stopped in the hotel but pop in occasionally for food. Always get a good meal, decent sized portions and good value for money. Excellent service.

Absolutely stunning place with very friendly staff. We arrived close to midnight due to driving up from Poole after the school run. The man who welcomed us (Matt?) was incredibly kind and nothing was too much trouble for us. I needed to take some medication and bless him, he got a jug of water for us to take to our room! Our room was lush with stunning views of the Angel Of The North. The beds were extremely comfortable and the checkout effortless. The views over the countryside were beautiful. Would love to come back to this hotel ❤️❤️

We really enjoyed our stay at the Angel View … rooms were extremely clean and well maintained…large room overlooking the Angel. Tea and coffee making facilities within the room and extra tea bags etc available from receptionist if required. There was also a fridge in the room. The bar and restaurant area was lovely and welcoming. Excellent quality food and a good range of drinks from the bar. Lots of car parking spaces available. We didn’t see a lift so that might be something to consider if carrying suitcases or mobility is a concern. We opted in for breakfast one day (if you book directly with the hotel breakfast is included however we had used a well known booking site) which was very good and we thought good value too. Helpful staff and friendly service throughout our stay. Five minutes walk to the Angel using pavement and pelican crossing’s. We would definitely visit again as the hotel is well located for such attractions as the Beamish Museum too.

Great fish and chips staff always friendly

The food is really good here and quite reasonably priced. The chips are amazing!!! The only thing I’m not keen on is having to go to the bar to get your drinks. The bar is always really busy. Most restaurants take drinks orders. The music can be a little too loud, but to be fair, the staff are very friendly and happy to turn it down. The staff are really lovely.

Fantastic weekend again .fourth stay and can't fault it .staff go out of there way to make sure you have a great stay from cleaners to bar staff and reception all fantastic thanks Joyce and Derek cheshire
