Visisted here today at lunchtime. This café, which is within East Carlton Park, is currently having a refurb done. There was a chap up a ladder painting, within the eating area, while were there. We ordered two cups of tea and two cheese and onion toasties. The cheese and onion toasties were of a high standard and came with a good portion of salad. The staff serving were friendly (there were a handful of staff in the kitchen area). I would have scored this as very good, had it not been for what happened once we had received our food. Very shortly after we had started eating a man came into the café, who didn't order or pay for food (at least not while we were there) but came in to talk to the people in the kitchen area. On entering the café he sneezed directly into his hands and then rubbed them together and then went on to say he had 'man flu'. The decorator made a comment to Mr 'Man Flu' about what he had just done. Mr 'Man Flu' proceeded walk about the cafe coughing and sneezing, close to where we were eating. I am unsure if this was an employee or volunteer or just a frequent visitor who knew the kitchen staff very well. Just a bit surprised that someone would act like this in a café within a Council run park at a time when we are being told to be a lot more hygenic due to what is happening in China.

I visited the cafe while at the park with my 2 grand children. I saw that the cafe did Jungle Boxes for the kids lunches. This comprised of a bag of crisps, a piece of fruit, a plastic carton of drink ( apple or forest fruit flavour ) and a roll. The fillings for the rolls surprised me ! You could have a choice of Dairylea cheese spread, jam, Marmite or chocolate spread ! Not the healthiest of choices are they ? What ever happened to ham, proper cheese, salad etc ? What about offering bottled water or real fruit juices ? The queue was quite long. Probably because it was a warm Sunday afternoon, and the girls serving were doing their best, but the staffing levels need to be increased to keep up with the demand. The prices are reasonable and the homemade coffee and walnut cake was really nice.

I guess they try their best with what they've got but a bit of organisation in the kitchen wouldn't go amiss. If there's going to be a wait for hot food you should be told when the order is taken so you have an opportunity of changing. Scrambled eggs on toast should be served with the egg on the toast not on the plate with slices of toast on the side. Also if you're going make scrambled eggs in a microwave and a bit of milk and seasoning so they are dry. I would have had a slice of Rocky Road but the portions looked very thin compared to that which is normally offered, on reflection I should have gone for that and saved myself an hour. OK for a cup of tea or coffee but sadly not up to par for anything else.

I am usually positive in reviews.Sorry this one isn't Not sure if tea was made with sterilised milk or milk was a bit old, but my partner and I both agreed there was a definite tang to it. Pulled pork bap was greasy and the roll insubstantial and crying out for some garnish. Cake was delicious. If you want plates and mugs, stay inside otherwise you get a disposable cup and food in a polystyrene or cardboard box. I know this isnt a posh restaurant but even as a cafe they could do a lot better. Chips were off the menu which was surprising as it was only half way through the week. The breakfast was just what we wanted, but they stopped serving it at neen and nothing particularly substantial and varied replaced it. . There is a curious amount of notices, some quite curt in tone, for example about leaving the sauce bottle on the single table and not taking it outside. The staff were certainly pleasant and working hard, hence just making two stars, but it did seem that a little more team work could have saved them time and cut serving time. The cafe was not particularly busy, but it was quite a while before the order was even started on. . Sorry, Coach House, we wont be coming back.

Paid £13 per head for a Rod Stewart tribute. Nowhere near enough seats, nowhere to check coats etc. Every time I've been to this place under its various owners it's been poor.
