The Shire Horse in Corby

Crazy that this is my local and yet I travel much further afield for a drink! I attended tonight because I saw a live band advertised. They were decent, but the staff and venue were great. I'll be returning and hopefully it'll turn into my regular

The shire horse does a fantastic roast dinner every Sunday 😋 and a gluten-free one for me, which is brilliant. A choice of 4 different meats and several vegetable choices. You can also have roast, mash, and new potatoes . Staff are lovely and helpful. I do recommend booking ahead as they get very busy. You can also order in a takeaway tub, but you have to collect it yourself as they don't deliver. Fantastic staff food and atmosphere.

Nice prices. Quickly served. Great beer garden with gates. So children can run around freely and safely Didn't have food so can't say about that.

Great evening of live music in the Shire Horse lounge. A great space with room for pool tables, a stage and plenty of tables and chairs - even a little impromptu dance area at the front of the stage. Atmosphere was great - with all original music from local Corby bands Yodaclub and The Scenesters. I've never seen so many people determined to have a great night - and a great night they had - with singing and dancing and perhaps a drink or two. Fantastic night all round!

Went for a carvery at The Shire Horse and the food was delicious, hot and plentiful. Would seriously recommend.

Sunday lunch for 17. Food was excellent, staff were great. Definitely going back.

Went on saturday to see friends perform. Getting a drink was horrible waiting over 20mins in a que for a drink with only 2 bar staff on both bars. Was clean and tidy considering their was a lot people tho.

We all highly recommend coming to the Carvery. Excellent meal by all and the best cavary in Corby.

Good selection of beers and apparently, nit tried it though, the carvery is decent.SKy sports too. However, its not a very welcoming place, as its a local council estate pub. IF there is scottish "football" on, the premier league goes off. Must be an ok place for locals, but if you dont live within 1 mile of the pub, i doubt youd enjoy it

Still a great pub, great atmosphere friendly staff, great food. In the beer garden for the kids to play on are a climbing frame slide,swings etc. There events are amazing too with a stage in the beer garden with live performances from local bands. There is also Lots of seating outside consisting of beer garden benches. Still one of the best family pubs in Corby to go to. So get yourself down there ☺️

Excellent Sunday lunch £10.95 for a regular size plate. I had beef & Pork which where both easy to cut and very tasty. It became very busy, a good indication of how popular it is, booking recommended.

Not great, to be honest. Meat - grey colour beef, 1 small cup of gravy for 2 huge meals. Veg portion size was huge and a great selection.

I drank in the shire horse years ago.it was always a friendly pub.i was bk in the shire on Friday after my brother in law jimmy the singers funeral.the staff were all superb.thank you.

Had refreshments here after our Mother's funeral. Couldn't fault it and the service was excellent.

Felt like a locals pub.... welcome not particularly warm. Also no guidance on menu choices. Had to ask how to make choices. Food was good and hot although again server not friendly. Sticky toffee pudding lovely. Good value for money and interestingly, goodbye was friendly as we left. With better service we would come back.

We visited today for a beautiful Sunday lunch. We are a family of 8, were served immediately on arrival, the staff were extremely professional and friendly, the surroundings are decorated to a very high standard. The food was incredible, second to none it was so “home cooked” and the prices were unbelievably reasonable, it is definitely a place to visit 👍👍👍

Booked last minute for a carvery for 2 - excellent carvery, plenty of meat and a good choice of piping hot potatoes and vegetables. Had a delicious banana split for dessert. Very friendly staff.

The Shire is close by so it's no surprise we pop in for the odd tiple however this is not just for drinking The Sunday roast is great value The service is first class The taste of the food is excellent I will add new year's day its an excellent event

15 of us booked in for Sunday lunch. Despite the place being fairly busy we all queued for the carvery with hardly any wait. On offer there are three meats. You can choose two, or upgrade to 3 for a small cost. The meats were all succulent and served with a choice of stuffing, Yorkies, roast potatoes, carrots, red cabbage, boiled potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy. A special mention from most of our party for the cauliflower cheese which was to die for! You can also have starters and/or desserts if that is your preference. They also have a well stocked bar with a selection of wines, beers and spirits. Cost wise, around £8.00 for the carvery with extra cost for starters or desserts. Would definitely return on a Sunday and would book well in advance to be safe. Well done The Shire Horse.

Many have tried and failed but today was the day(again) for me and my compadres. Stuart makes the quiz interesting and loves it when the room is full of hangovers but didn't count on me having a Saturday off it before my Sunday shift. Sober and game face on I was disappointed to lose the general knowledge section by 1 but the 4 pint prize was insignificant compared to the gargantuan cash prize the music quiz was promising. Not the hardest but nerves set in when answers confirmed that not Whitney Houston but her auntie was the answer to a question we were sure we had in the bag. Some lost their heads in the melee that ensued when a tiebreak was announced but at times like these men are men and the rest don't count. Trusted as captain and representative of our team I proudly walked up to the dj and awaited our fate. Was it to be 60's 70"s 80's or oblivion. Hello Hungry like the wolf two tribes,never will I forget those 3 song titles,that charted, IN 1984 YA DANCER YEEHAW. £17 on PYCR tickets and joker tickets that won us zip. What an emotional rollercoaster though. Looking forward to next time.

Sat in the beer garden of the Shire horse in Corby with my children. I only stopped by as it was really hot. Went through to the back as I wasn't eating and stepped through into a massive beer garden with a kids mini climbing wall, two slides, an old climbing frame helicopter and a batch of swings. The Guiness was lovely and the guest ale was great. There were plenty of staff on to serve, so there was very little time at the bar waiting for a drink. There were a number of events on...and to be honest, if I hadn't eaten I'd have stopped off for lunch there too as the Sunday roasts looked fantastic on the hot plates! A.child friendly public house serving what looked like great food. 5 stars from me. An excellent array of stuff to do here!

Popped in for a pint and got my pint and went to sit down at top of lounge but told all seating was for meals, ok but it was just gone 12.30 on a sunday and nobody was having one!!! Was told to sit at other end and only 3 tables and they was full, uncomfortable moment but as it was a sunny day we had to sit outside on one if the 2 tables in the front car park. Not the best first impression and i wont be using this pub again, nice pint tho i have to say :)
