The Old Village Fish & Chip Shop in Corby

Used to be a fab little fish and chip shop. Been times over the years with various change in owners. Not sure what has happened in last few months but quality seems have gone down especially the chips. Perhaps new potato supplier needed or change of cooking fat?

Just had very delicious fish and chips from here tonight on Good Friday! Lovely battered cod and fresh hot chips served by 3 smiley ladies! Mushy peas and pickled onions also fantastic! Thank you! 😊

The chips were minging Looked like they had been lying in manky clatty looking fat for hours! so disappointed as I was looking forward to them

We usually use Raffertys but their card machine was out of action . So , to the village we went , and wish that we hadn’t . To describe the cod as large is being economical with the truth , the batter was flat and drowned in some sort of oil . We paid £20 for this sad pile , most of it went in the food recycling bin . The mushy peas were lovely however , but we bought the tin of Harry Ramsdons ourself . Back to Raffertys next time .

Ordered a large cod and chips - cod priced at £8 if this was a large cod I would hate to see a normal one. Black Pudding and chips, over cooked, . Went on recommendation, but will not be using again. Charged £17 plus Overpriced compared to others.

Ordered online to collect at seven. Drove the 15 mins to get there to find the shutters down. Eventually after knocking on the shutters someone came out to say they were closed as they had run out of fish at six. Yet the online order had gone through and the payment was made. Don’t bother going here. Very badly organised

This used to be a great chippy but after tonight I will not be recommending it to anyone and won't be using again. The fish was over cooked and hard. Potatoes fritters were the worst and smallest I have ever seen. Total waste of money!!

Chip shop has changed hands, this was a number 1 chippy. It's now awful, greasy food, orders wrong, unhelpful staff, the food is shocking bad, hard chips full of grease they stand behind the fryers picking chips and eating them, unhygienic just bad food

Ordered the munchy box amazing I was worried about the deep-fried pizza because it could hold alot of grease but nope the black pudding and haggis were the best I have had in years. The meal could easily feed two people without a problem

Food cooked to order with excellent service meeting any special requests. Very generous portions of really fresh fish, not overcooked, with crisp, golden chips. Have them every week.

I needed somewhere close to Weldon to pick up Fish & Chips. My daughter searched on Google and found 'The Old Village Fish & Chip Shop'. It was easy to find on the high street and there was plenty of roadside parking. The food was freshly cooked to order and well worth the wait. [They serve Gluten free on Mondays] The gentleman was very friendly and accommodating as i requested each person's order in separate polystyrene boxes [which also kept them hot]. We had fish, battered sausage, plain sausage, fishcake, chips and peas. All of which were cooked to perfection. I have not had such tasty chips in ages. Great find and we will definitely be returning. [seating was also available for those that want to 'eat in'.] Many Thanks

The best fish, chips and sides I've had in years.... outstanding and so clean. This is a proper chip shop with the quality you only normally find at the seaside.. Well I can only say that when I'm shopping in Corby I won't bother going anywhere else in future. Truly delicious.

This Chip shop is a great find. great well cooked food. I particularly like the fact you can sit down and eat your hot fish and chips with a cup of tea. The owner is very professional and homely. I will definitely come back.

It's always good to see a 'Pukka' pie sign. I'm on a little train trip / track bash,Leicester to Kettering via Corby due to engineering. Corby quite small but pie n chips with a weak tea hit the right spot. Tables to sit at. Lovely chips not soggy. Nice guy serving just sold me unbattered Mars bar for only 50p! And we discovered the phone socket in the windows does work!

Wouldn’t go anywhere else! Always cooked fresh, staff are lovely too. Best chippy ever, no surprise it’s number 1!

1st and last visit. Ordered 2 portions of chips ended up throwing more than half away. The potatoes used where very very poor quality there where so many dark eyes left in the potatoes these where surrounded with the grit. Not sure if this is a one off but not taking the risk again.

First visit and it won’t be the last super portions fish cooked to order very clean and friendly staff and reasonable priced

Good quality fish and chips, also serve usual sausages, pies etc. Clean, nice staff. Closed on Sundays.

Always a good service, always good food. Value for money is great as portion sizes are never too small

My saving grace on a visit to Corby...what a great portion of fish n chips, cooked to order absolutely tasty, staff were happy and chatty .

The owners and staff here are fab. The food is always excellent and you can eat in too. They work so hard to make everything run so smoothly and deserve their continued success. A great example of a well run chippy.

Great traditional English fish and chips! Decent prices, good food and friendly staff. Well worth trying, and always good to support a local business!

All fish etc is cooked fresh so you may need to wait a few minutes but at least you kmow your fish hasnt been sat for hours.

When my husband and I moved to Corby we struggled to find any fish and chip shops that catered for gluten free and chanced upon this awesome chip shop.

We have bought fish and chips here many times. The owner is a very nice friendly young man. The shop is also a cafe with nice clean tables and chairs. We usually have "take away" and I would venture to say they are the "best" in Corby by a long way!

This is now about the best chip shop for miles around now, fish is cooked to order and even the regular fish is substantial. Cooks in dripping so not so good for my heart condition but it makes all the difference to the taste and texture of the food.

We now go here once a month to get a fantastic fish supper.

Perfect in every way taste magnificent just like the seaside Very very yummy will go here from now on. Fresh hot served in box so no paper or plates. Keep up the good work

First time staying in Corby rather than one of the surrounding villages and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat.

Fantastic quality fish and chips...haven't had fish and chips as good as these for 5myears, same quality that Raffertys, Warringtons used to be like. What a fantastic find. Well done guys, thank you, fabulous food!

just had the kebab meat from the village chippy and have got to say how fantastic and tasty it was will definately be having this again also they are making their own mayonnaise great job guys

Stumbled across this place whilst on business in the area. As it was lunchtime I decided to venture in and sample their fayre. Ordered a fish supper with curry sauce. Doesn't sound too exciting when you think about it, but probably the best fish and chips in the town! Fish freshly cooked in a crisp batter with a good portion of chips. Curry sauce, well never really had any variation to the usual chip shop style, but this curry sauce was excellent, totally different to the norm. Served in a friendly manner and unusually in a box to go! Highly recommended and will definitely return.

I had a beautiful portion of fish chips and Gravy and was able to sit in and eat it in very nice surroundings as the venue had recently been decorated and refurbished.

Went here for an inpromptu fish n chips mid week meal. Lovely fresh chipa and nice sized piece of fish. Wait was acceptable for pipimg hot food

The food is still extremely good; fresh, tasty and great choice. Everything you want from your local chippy. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the service is always good even when they're really busy.

What a nice place. I think this has been recently refurbished. It was very clean, the food was great. Delicious fish & chips served by a pleasant young man. Very reasonable prices 4 tables to sit at. Great pictures of old Corby adorning the walls. We 'll be back.

This serves freshly cooked fish so be prepated for a short wait as it is worth it

We went here a few weeks ago and the fish was beautiful light a nd fresh, definitely recommended, the chips tasted really good and not at all fatty or greasy

I have been using this Chip shop regularly on Friday night for the past 6 months - the quality of fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection, juicy, flakey with the crispiest of batter. The chips are cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Having used another well established restaurant for many years I have to say it has taken a lot to move me away but the quality of the food is so good I can not recommend this Chippy more highly - give it a try yourself - if you fancy Fish & Chips cooked the old fashioned way come & visit the Corby Old Village Chippy...

Poor quality, the place is always empty when I drive passed it, not many people going there. The good thing about the place is the nice staff.

1st class service. Staff are very friendly. Best fish and chips!! Tastes so fresh and delicious!! Very good atmosphere. Place is very tidy and clean. A must try food if you are in Corby!

Have vsited this fish and chip shop alot recently always freshly prepared and delicious food served to me and a warm welcome always from the staff.An asset to Corby Old Village and the local community.

Its the first time iv tryed this fish and chip shop and to be honest I gave it top marks because the food was amazing and the two guys being the counter were very friendly and efficient il definitely be using this chip shop again

Handy for where l was staying. Various portion sizes from £1.00 fish from £4.00. I had sausage and chips. £2.40. A bargain. Not the best l have had but filling and none greasy.

I've eaten from here 4 times now and it's now my prefered fish nd chip shop. Friendly staff and They serve generous portions. We've gone from not eating out very often to Fish and Chip Friday every week! Value for money.

I stopped to buy some chips for my tea. I only live a few minutes away. The chips were cold and dried up , I don't have a microwave so ended up with a ham sandwich. I won't be stopping sgain

Me & my daughter went to this chip shop on Sunday 24/07/16 the staff were friendly the food was cooked fresh & the portions were worth the money we both had fish&chips; we would recommend anybody to try this shop & if you want to eat in you can

Spur of the moment decision to have fish and chips came here as best in Corby. As photo testify the portions are huge and totally delicious. Well worth a visit, staff super friendly

I really want this place to be a success. It's the closest chippy to me and despite changing hands a number of times I like the idea of having a chip shop in this part of the town. I visited a few months ago (maybe a year) and it was very poor - badly organised, poor food, small portions.

I'm not a fan of fish and chips but my partner likes the food from here. I did try some of the chips and they tasted nice. The piece of fish my partner got was big and he said it was delicious. All the food is cooked fresh while you wait.

Stopped for lunch as I was in the old village so decided to eat in, my fish and chips was cooked fresh as always
