When we walked in the staff were very polite. However when i went to the bar to order food there was a young girl near me who got shouted at by a member of staff while they where behind the bar, Very unprofessional !! And some of the things she said were awful overall the food was okay, we will return hoping its a more friendly experience next time.

After a long journey by train from Kent I booked a table for four for 7.pm. Friday 19th July ,after waiting nearly one and half hours for the main course ,the food was well below standard for pub food , the battered cod and chips was probably been frozen with the batter hard and the fish inside all mushy, the chips was very hard as well , and two other meals of chicken curry was swimming in tomato juice ,and looked very unappetising.

Probably the busiest pub in Bentham, cracking ale and the bar staff were very polite and willing to take the time to chat with you, unlike another pub in the village. The decor in the pub also was outstanding, bet it has some proper history behind it!

Absolutely love the coach house! Such a nice and friendly environment with staff that make you feel welcome. The food is also gorgeous and such a nice chage for a rural pub to offer the variety of vegetarian food that they do.

Visited on Saturday afternoon with family including our little boy. Waitress serving us was brilliant, especially with our little boy. Food - Beer battered bacon strips for 2 of our starters were delicious and just enough for a starter. Poached Egg with bacon crisp for my starter wasn't great, overcooked egg. Prawn Cocktail starter looked lovely. Mains...2 of us had pie of the week which were both yummy. Chicken in a pepper sauce came a bit like a stir fry. We expected a chicken breast but it is chicken pieces, in a spicy pepper creamy sauce. Delicious but hotter than expected. Other main was chilli, which was full of different beans but lovely and warming. **What a shame they do not have a baby changing table. 2 sets of toilets, some in the pub and some at the back yet there is not 1 baby changing table. Let down the whole place having to change my little boy on floor!!! Doesnt take much to put a table on a wall**

Went in with family and dog for a drink and light meal and was not disappointed. Lovely warm, cosy bar and eating areas. Locals and other patrons were chatty and friendly. The member of staff on duty appeared to be on his own but was coping admirably, was professional, very welcoming and attentive. Food choices were limited but it was a Saturday afternoon hence just a 'lite' menu. Didnt see the full evening menu. The food was pretty standard pub grub, but was hot, plentiful and tasty. Football was on the TV (which was good) but it didnt overtake the whole bar and restaurant. A very pleasant couple of hours being fed and watered. Would visit again.

Not far from where we are staying in Bentham we decided to have a meal at The Coach House Inn. It’s a very dog friendly coaching inn dating back to 1625. It has a ‘olde worlde’ feel with traditional beamed ceilings and stone fire places. We though it was great, especially as we could take the woofers in with us. We had a fabulous dinner, our food was freshly cooked and delicious and both our dogs snoozed at our feet and made themselves at home while we ate. The staff are very attentive and friendly and I would definitely recommend this place for food if you ever visit this part of the Yorkshire Dales. Sticky toffee pudding was the best I’ve ever had.

We ordered two steaks at this pub, one sirloin and one rump, to be cooked medium. After waiting for over half an hour, the meals were served and we were disappointed to see that both were over cooked. The meat was hard, dry and brown throughout. When the waitress came to check, I politely told her that the steaks were over cooked, definitely not medium. She courteously offered to get them replaced. Ten minutes later, the pub landlord came to our table with pieces of cooked meat in his bare hands, asking us what was wrong with the steaks. I explained that we always have our steaks medium and that they should be brown on the outside with a layer of pink through the middle. He rolled the pieces of meat around and said that was what we got. He said that my description was for “medium rare” and that the meat in his hands was what they called medium. We are both retired, have had a fair few steaks in our time, all cooked medium, and his comments were insulting, implying that we didn’t know what “medium” was. My husband then asked him to replace the steaks with “medium rare” and he complained that two steaks were now wasted!

On a weekend away ,popped in for a drink ,lovely young lady served a couple of beers and all was pleasant. We then decided we would have a cocktail so ordered Gin cocktail and a strawberry daiquiri ,service was slow, the gin cocktail was bland with just blob of ice and the daiquiri was undrinkable with no ice at all! When I asked to see the manager the young barman was quite rude &reluctantly; said he would inform the landlord I wanted to see him. After 10 minutes he still hadn't arrived to see me so I went back to the bar to enquire why the manager hadn't come to see me . I asked the barman why the landlord hadn't arrived when a man at the end of the bar shouted I'm here, drink your drinks and leave my pub ,I have never been spoken to like that in my life ! I asked why he was so rude and what was his problem ! The attitude of the owner was appalling, he said he didn't have to explain and just leave, I said one of the drinks was undrinkable and could I have a replacement or a refund he said no just leave . There are no words for his appauling behaviour , I went back to my friends and said let's leave immediately! There was only us in the pub and I'm not surprised with the attitude and behaviour of the landlord .

We have been staying at our Static Caravan at Riverside Caravan Park this week. We had looked forward to going out on our final night this year for a pub tea. As we walked in the Coach & Horses the pub looked fairly quiet. Couple of empty tables in both the pub & restaurant. Nobody at the bar being served.... We are a family of four, with a six year and a two year old. We asked the lad behind the bar for a table for four. He went in and out of the back three times before announcing that they were totally bombed out, just taken a load of orders and just couldn't possibly fit us in! We were flabbergasted, they clearly were not busy and just did not want our children in their restaurant, which is a shame because they are well behaved, good eaters and are very used to dining out! My wife was very upset and we had to drive through the fog with two hungry children to Wennington, to find a place to eat!

After reading good reviews on TripAdvisor we visited with friends for a meal on Saturday 1st August, the pricing of the menu was very reasonable but the quality of some of the meals were below the standard expected. I had the "Pieminister" Steak and Ale pie, it was a standard pie casing with not very much meat in it and also contained carrots which I don't expect to find in a Steak and Ale pie, the "mushy peas" were very dry and looked looked like they had been stuck to the sides of a pan after most of it had gone. The other meals that the other three had were also disappointing, with frozen chips, overall we decided that this would be the last time we visit this establishment when we are in Bentham again.

The coach house has nice surroundings and most of the staff are pleasant. On this occasion the food that we ordered was overcooked and incomplete. The sacmpi which my wife ordered was a very dark brown and the liver and bacon dish that I ordered did not have any bacon with it. The portions were also quite small for the price paid. The menu looks like the landlords children have produced it on pieces of paper which are clipped to a board. The prices do not even have a £ sign next to them.

Later that week my wife and I and 2 friends visited for an evening meal and both the food and service was as good.Would recommend the restaurant.

We have eaten here on several occasions at the back end of 2013 and quite frankly, the whole experience was awful, which was a shame coz its a lovely pub.We heard that new management were in pac so decided to give it another try on Sat Mar 16.We ordered two cokes which came quite sharply enough, then a cider......no cider, ok a lager.......no lager, right, a local beer.....no beer, lines all frozen up, now tell me, what the barmaid didn't mention before we ordered that all beers were off! Needless to say we lef th coes and went over the roa to the Bull.Get your act together, Coach House!!!!!

Having visited The Coach House 18 months previous, and been met with rude staff, (inc management) average food and no atmosphere at all, we'd have been forgiven for never returning. But on te grape vine we heard there had been a change of management and things were looking up. What a difference! Top quality food, smiles on the staff and customers faces, and a pleasant place all round. If they remain as they are then the future is looking bright!

Went in on sat 12th Oct @ 18:00 for some food. After getting 2 drinks at the bar we then looked at the menu. We was not made to feel welcome and then the barman was so unhygienic we left and went to another pub. Would we go again. Never!

We were recommended the Black Bull. Took one look and walked! Called at Coach & Horses and were greeted will helpfulness and a welcoming smile. There were 10 of us (and 3 dogs) and nothing was too much trouble. Always a worry when you enter local pubs in the deep Dales, what with the 'look', but the locals were very chatty. Food good but had to wait an hour and twenty minutes. We were warned though. Excellent value at £72 all in with 3 rounds of drinks. Not the best but a good solution when hungry.

We booked a table at the coach house and arrived 10 minutes late (my friend was told when booked food would be served until 9:30pm) 2 out of the four of us were served drinks and so we sat down and then waited for 20 minutes to then be told that the chef (owner of pub) would not serve us food as it was 09:05, despite serving the table next to us who came in after us!! I asked to speak to the manager and was calm and polite but of whom he spoke to me in an angry and confrontational manner in front of shocked customers in the bar and restaurant. He stated he did not care what I thought of his pub, was aggressive and stormed back to the kitchen leaving his staff embarrassingly apologising in the pub. I have spoken to others in the village who have also witnessed this treatment, a shame the manager lets this pub down, we won't be returning unless an apology is offered!!

Using a gogroupie voucher we booked 3 nights here on B&B basis. The room was nice and clean with some modern furniture and the breakfasts were very good.We ate there each evening and the voucher said it includes a free glass of wine and on their internet site it said 20% of subsequent meals. On leaving we were presented with the bill we queried it and were told that Connor was not there we presumed that we could sort this out from home.BIG mistake we were told by Darren that the drinks could not be given retrospectively and the information on the web site was out of date obviously we are quite cross about this. We are pensioners and budget quite carefully and to be overcharged in this cavalier manner leaves a nasty taste. The manager should have been able to sort this out before we paid as it was we had a young waitress presenting the bill and she said she didn't have the authority to change the bill.I would advise you to ask for the manager before you pay and if it's not right say you will sort it out over the phone. One other point one presumes when staying in a hotel that there would be parking and on the web site it states 4 spaces. This is not true you have to park in a public car park some minutes away.

You must try a Sunday Lunch at the Coach House. It is the best Sunday Lunch I have eaten and certainly a lot better than my mum can cook! You will not be disappointed as you have a selection of fresh veg, roast and mashed potatoes all served with home made gravy with a choice of meat. You do have to be careful as the Coach house only serves fresh food so when they have sold out, they have. A great weekend of good food and hospitality by Darren and Amanda's team. Many Thanks

The pub is pretty insude and out with beams and fireplaces etc. We visited on a Monday, there was only one member of staff behind the bar and she was the waitress too! I got the impression it was far busier than they were expecting! The lass did a great job bless her but each time a new group appeared she had to keep checking with the chef that it was OK to have more people in. I had fish and chips which were beautifully cooked, partner had steak which he said tasted good but half of it was a bit chewy. I had sticky toffee pudding which was quite disappointing, more dry than sticky. It was a pleasant place though and the people were friendly.

This is the first time I have ever complained about any establishment. However I thought I should point out the disappointment all six of us had when we called for a meal to celerbrate my sons fortieth birthday. We had telephoned to check the time for last orders, 8pm. We arrived at 7.15 to be told they would have to check with the chef to see if he was still cooking? thankfully he was. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, we ordered a large glass of red wine amongst other drinks the glass was dirty. We asked for a clean glass only to be told they did not have any more large glasses and asked if we would accept the drink in two small glasses. Eventually the drink came in one small glass which was filled to the brim and had to be sipped from the table to avoid spilling the drink. My wife ordered fish and chips, the batter was about 4cm thick, the fish about 1cm. We asked for tarter sauce to be told they did not have any. My grandchildren asked for tomato sauce to go with there burgers, my son asked for mustard again to be told they did not have any. However the waitress went out to a local shop to buy some. The mixed grill was very greasy and generally poor. The restaurant was not busy and virtually empty. The waitress was efficient and pleasant. Perhaps we suffered a one off bad experience, but I wanted to let other possible clients know of our experience.

My partner and I have just returned home from our stay at The Coach House and we are already planning when we can return. From the minute we stepped through the door and were greeted by Darren we knew that we were in good hands. The whole Team at this establishment are dedicated to ensuring that guests have an enjoyable time and this is one sure way of encouraging a return visit. Amanda and Darren could not have done enough for us and their welcoming approach made us feel a part of the 'family'. This was our first visit to this part of the country and thanks to the kindness we were shown it will not be our last. We would give our experience here 10 out of 10 and would heartily recommend it, thanks again guys.

Staying locally, we dropped in here for lunch. My wife says her steak baguette was the 'best she has ever eaten'. Enjoyed a couple of pints of real ale relaxing in the surroundings of a beautiful quiet pub - no piped music or screaming children misbehaving ! Much larger inside than the front would suggest.

This was a really nicely decorated traditional restaurant. We ate here on 2 nights and found the starters, main meals and desserts very tasty and freshly prepared. My steak was succulent and cooked perfectly- lamb shank too also very good. Very good service- friendly local staff

We ate there on a Friday evening. Food was ok, (my husband had a steak which was a bit overdone but saved by the quality of the meat), The serving staff were all very pleasant. We didn't stay after our meal as there was a group of five late middle-aged men having a meal and a very loud discussion about golf and there was a lot of loud bad language going on, by one of them in particular. No need for that. Didn't sound as though they were locals so hope it was a one off and we were just unlucky.

What a lovely place for an evening meal! We didnt book, just turned up on the spur of the moment at about 6pm on a Saturday night as we were staying in a cottage just outside the village. We were warmly welcomed by a very friendly young man on the bar and shown straight to a table. Taking the dog did not pose any problem, he was made to feel very welcome too. The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced! The portions were very generous (we had the gammon and a veg curry complete with popadoms, naan bread, rice and bhaji). The owner was on hand and came over for a chat after we had eaten. What a lovely fella .. very down to earth and nothing was too much trouble. I would take any previous bad reviews on this establishment with a pinch of salt.. we had a lovely evening, would recommend this place to everyone and will certainly be going back there to eat next time we are in the area.

Got seated with menu then waited!! After 15 minutes I had to ask for order to be taken. Food was good when it arrived. Our waitress was less than efficient. Other customers arriving after us were served some time before us.

We called in here to break up a car journey and my wife had the sausage bap and I had the bacon bap. The baps were a good size with plenty of filling, indeed my wife was unable to finish hers. All the staff were efficient and helpful and we may well have to return again in the not too distant future.
