Have passed this pub on so many occasions and have always said we would call in and so glad that we did. This is just your perfect typical country pub. Picturesque from the outside. Dogs are welcome. Only stopped on our dog walk for what was going to be one drink and ended up having tea there. Good honest home cooked pub food. Where else can you have lasagne, chips & salad for £9 nowadays. Husband had gammon, egg & chips same price. Tasty food and good portion size Friendly owner & staff. Perfect village pub atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful village fete right out of agatha christie book. Have been driving down from reepham in norfolk for a good few years now in my 1974 citroen ds 23 pallas. Im proud to share my surname with this charming village and recommend all to visit on classic car and bike day. Well done to all who organise this splendid event.

Lovely overnighter, welcoming and genuine landlords. We had eaten earlier so only had room for a basket of chips but the food coming out of the kitchen looked fabulous Our dog Winnie loved her treat from the bar especially her treat from the kitchen.

Another great meal at this local where everyone is made to feel so welcome. They have now extended their menu to give even more choice but still the same quality and excellent value.

We just chanced on this pub as we drove past. All the staff were very friendly and polite and made a table up for us (and our two dogs) even though they were quite busy with valentines meals. The food was excellent , open fire, great value for money, what more could you ask for. Thanks for a great night :)

Absolutely lovely Pub. Warm welcome and pub with a real fire on the go. Nice choice of 3 real ales but the highlight was the lovely food - I can't remember when I last paid £7.50 for a steak and chips but it would have been a while a go and nowhere near the quality of this place. 13 of us ordered food and everyone enjoyed the traditional home cooked food. But a last comment about the cost - 13 of us all had main course and 3 or 4 drinks - the bill was less than 200 quid!

Hate leaving bad reviews but we ate a Sunday lunch here today and were not impressed. It consisted of 3 tiny frozen roast potatoes, one tiny stuffing ball, a dollop of carrot and swede mash, several frozen runner beans, roast beef and ratatouille!....yes ratatouille! Thought this was a very strange combination and there wasn’t a Yorkshire pudding in sight. The gravy was pale and frothy and like water.....it obviously hadn’t been heated up enough to thicken and cook. The beef was the best bit of the meal, really tender and lots of it but barely warm.We all came away feeling hungry and disappointed. Although it was really cheap at £6 a head I would much rather pay a lot extra for a decent meal and a Yorkshire pudding with my roast beef.

Great little pub to pull in for the night in their car park with views across the countryside. We turned up unannounced and were accommodated and even though it was a food free night, they kindly not only cooked for us but for 2 other motor homes that also turned up. Great range of drinks, very friendly family and a proper pub! Unlike someone else's review, the regulars were friendly and we were made welcome.

Having recently been taken over by new younger owners we were really pleased to see the effort and welcome going into to growing the business in this lovely village pub. The welcome is second to none and the range of drinks has been extended with some good beers. Enjoyed a steak meal at an excellent price. All in all a great experience and an establishment well worth supporting.

Dropped in on spec whilst house hunting in the area and was very pleasantly surprised to find a decent pint and some good honest "home cooked" food.Appearances can be deceptive and the words "a bit worn around the edges" could be unkindly used as a description for this lovely little pub but the welcoming atmosphere and very friendly landlord and landlady made up for the "tired" decor, fixtures and furnishings. The owners kids and customers dogs running around just added to the experience and made it feel even more homely. It appears the owners are fairly new to the pub and village and from what I saw they have settled in well and have a good relationship with the locals. Long may that remain so, because it's the locals that help add to the atmosphere and even their welcome made us feel even more at ease with the surroundings.Only one suggestion, tinker a little with the fixtures, fittings and decor but not to much and only when time and resources permit. Don't change for the sake of change.Good luck.p.s. How do you make a living on the prices you charge? Seriously good value for money!

If you don't live in the village and you have never been in, don't go! The moment I stepped in, the snooty villagers glared at me as though I had no right to be there! I couldn't even purchase anything that you can take away with you, I just kept getting excuses in the most abrupt manner.

Booked a table after calling to see if they had gluten free options which they assured they did. They don’t. You get handed an allergens list to compare the menu which doesn’t match up. Unless you want a bit of salad or a steak or gammon and chips you’re out of luck. They’re not particularly helpful and a little brusk. Wouldn’t bother.

I loved this old pub when first visiting the Wolds 5 years ago. It's still the same today. It's not plush or super-modern or dripping with olde worlde charme. It's just a country pub that does food. Sunday lunch is especially good, with the option of just two roasts, chicken or beef (on the two occasions recently when I've visited). You order at the bar and the meal is delivered (usually) quite quickly. The chicken was really nice! A nice plate of fresh vegetables accompany the usual roast potatoes and for the price (£6.95 I think!) it is remarkable value. There are also puds available but I've eaten too well at the main course to try these unfortunately.

Visited today for Sunday lunch for my father's 91st birthday celebration. Lovely village pub, next to church in idilic location. Landlord has owned pub for well over 20 years and very friendly. Good selection of beers, apparently always has one local (delicious Batemans today)Sunday lunch choices simple, but sufficient, and incredibly good value. Food was just delicious, so beautifully home cooked, couldn't fault it. Even had a 92 year old come in to collect his takeaway Sunday lunch, what a great service. All in all thoroughly recommended for traditional British pub Sunday lunch, better than most.

Every year for the past 10 year a band of 8 or so great friends and myself have visited and stay with Keith and Deb on our annual trip to Cadwell park race circuit for the British super Bikes over the August bank holiday weekend! This is a ideal location for this weekend or any weekend being only 3 miles from Cadwell circuit! With a big field behind the pub which you can pitch a tent up for a fiver a night (much cheaper than the circuit),the Coach provides great food (award winning cooked breakfast, lunches and evening meals) which are amazing value, a great selection of beers, a warm welcome every time from the locals and hosts alike and a lovely venue! We can't praise this place enough! And can't wait for our next visit this August!

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.
