We have been going to the Coach for the last seven years, always fantastic. This time was also very good, but one dish in my humble opinion wasn’t right. I am Italian and I have been eating salted cod since I was a child, and I know the dish is on the salty side, but every component of the Salted Cod Scotch Egg dish was too salty and made it unpleasant. We tried to enjoy it but we were unable to finish it . The reason I am making this comment is mainly for the answer I had from the lady serving us when I very politely pointed this out . “ Well it is salted cod that is why it is salty . The head chefs answer was , “This dish has won a 2 Michelin Star”, and dismissed me with that comment. I am not doubting the dish is a well thought of dish, but could it be that the one we had wasn’t quite right??? and maybe some how it was too salted ??? This will not stop us from returning as we love the Coach , but I was disappointed in the reaction and answers that I had from the staff. I was dismissed like a schoolboy that doesn’t know anything, with out even trying to make some sort of apology . For instance ; I am sorry you are not enjoying this food , but ….etc.etc. I wish the staff at The Coach a very happy Christmas and a fantastic 2025.

Stumbled across probably the best breakfast I've had. So was driving back from Bracknell came through Marlow. Beautiful town setting went off to find another place Google was recommending and found The Coach thought it was shut but it was open for breakfast. Sat at the bar open kitchen view. I had two coffees, an fresh orange juice which was great. I chose the full English and and was incredible. Comes with two slices of toast. Service was excellent also highly recommend paying a visit.

The food was good but the small plates don’t really work for Sunday lunch, items come at different times and I ended up eating alone whilst my husband waited then vice versa. Table was pretty cramped and the only vegetables on the whole menu was a hispi cabbage. The male waiter who seated us was surly and abrupt, however the female waitress was lovely and friendly. Wouldn’t bother returning.

Can’t see eye to eye with this restaurants Michelin star. This place is a decent food pub. Definetley some creative foods which did not taste bad, but not great to me. Most of the meat foods were very salty, the pork, Shepards pie, and the coleslaw in the burger. Our whole table kept needing more water because the salt. Additionally we were sat in the corner and struggled to get service 1 or 2 times.

Honest to goodness, the best meal I’ve had in a long time. We really lucked out and it happened to be a crisp sunny autumnal day to wander around beautiful Marlow followed by an epically tasty lunch at the Coach. I highly recommend sitting at the bar so that you can look into the kitchen and see all of the hard work going into preparing your meal. Hearty portions, interesting flavour combinations and perfectly attentive service. Truly exceptional value.

Sharing plates does mean you get to taste a broader range of what the kitchen is up to - which can be a curse or a blessing. Some dishes were genuinely delicious but others didn't really come together, having too little flavour or in the case of the desserts just being overwhelmingly sweet. At a lower price this might have been acceptable but it had the hit and miss quality you might expect of a pop-up, where you might pay half as much. The setting is very cramped and claustrophobic, with the seating crowded around a bar, which takes up about half the floorspace. It's converted from what you'd imagine as one of those front room pubs in a terraced street, which is more suited for standing and drinking. Probably won't be hurrying back.

We went to the Coach today. It was our 5-6th time there (first time for Sunday roast). We went for starters which were nice but the Sunday roast dinner was disappointing as well as the service. The roast beef was cold and the quality could be better. Across the full lunch experience we were never asked how the food was until we asked for the bill even though i made the waitress aware about the issues, when the dishes were collected. The waitress said she would pass my feedback to the chef. We also had to order the second drinks based on the lack of attention for the main course. The Waiting time between starters and main course was at the limit to be acceptable. Very disappointing experience overall . We will hesitate to come back there and the Tap. Table had a few small fruit flys nearby which was also off putting. We used to love the food & service experience in both places but unhesitatingly it has gone downhill in recent times.

Lovely inside the pub with booths for two but set on West Street so can be noisy in the summer with open windows. Set lunch is good - chicken pie and Eton mess when we were there, but nothing special. So not sure why it has a Michelin star as service good but the rest of the menu costs up to £33 for a small plate with a small tower like burger at £20 which look unremarkable. I have looked over reviews and am very surprised. We felt there was 'no vibe' and a subdued atmosphere. We had a planned to spend 3 originally 4 hours here but the food was not close to what we had hoped. We booked at 8am that morning as theor policy is to book on the day. Creating a sense of urgency! Clever but not required surely! The scotch egg arrived. So small! Then risotto. Tasty followed by prawn baked potatoe at £22 for the smallest potatoe! Ordered chips that never came so asked to settle up. £73 with two drinks. Poor food, service and lack of any atmosphere! Shame, we hoped for so much more!

Have been here a couple of time. The chips and the duck parfait (with brioche) alone make a visit worthwhile. The waiting staff is super nice and pleasant. However, have been surprised by the inconsistency in some of the dishes. For example, the cabbage dish which was very good in the first two visits was undercooked in some parts. It's disappointing because when they land the dishes, the restaurant has been worth the one hour drive it takes me to get there

Nice vibe and very friendly and welcoming staff, the highlight of our lunch experience. However I felt the kitchen is trying too hard with the food. Menu takes inspiration from pub classics (scotch egg, fish and chips etc) but falls short on execution and flavour in my opinion. I found the result to be confusing and too fussy. My guess the restaurant is carried by the name of its Chef Patron. If it wasn’t for him the google ratings would have been much lower.

Quite a mixed bag in terms of food. A key thing to note is despite the prices looking like full meal rates the menu is designed as more of a tapas/taster menu. This means you are encouraged to order 2-3 options per person. The food was very rich, with some excellent classics and then some less well executed items , such as the 'coach chips' which I assume where supposed to be triple cooked but they were just rock hard and highly salted. The staff were all great though and it was a novel experience but overall I wouldn't return.

Enjoyable restaurant. Food is very well prepared and presented but a little on the bland side (especially starters duck liver parfait and watercress soup). Quail was super though. Order the chips and ponder when does a chip become a roast potato, and when does a roast potato become a chip. Service was a bit clunky. “Would you like another glass of champagne?” “No thank you. Maybe later.” Glass of champagne arrives. “Excuse me is this complimentary? We didn’t order it.” “I thought you did.” Yanks glass away. I think my expectations were too high having read reviews. Disappointing experience at The Coach for lunch today. Despite booking a table for 3 we were placed on an awkwardly shaped table in the corner and although there was a huge gap between us and the next table the waiting staff wouldn't move our table around so we would be more comfortable. Food was ok but over salted and it felt very heavy with few vegetable options to pair with the meat. There weren't any special touches that you might expect when eating at a Michelin starred establishment and the sport on the TVs felt tacky especially given no one was watching it. To note, the accessible toilet was extremely inaccessible! It is off a room at the back with a table and chairs half a metre away meaning the door could only be opened once the group sitting there had left, and it would be impossible to get a wheelchair in there without moving all the furniture. Prices reasonable but we wouldn't return.

The menu is confusing. It is split into two sections ‘meat’ and ‘not meat’. The pricing is roughly between £10-£35 for the items on it which we presumed were starters and mains…. Wrong. It’s essentially tapas and very expensive for what you get. The burger especially for £19 was like a kids slider. Try sharing that between 2! £100 spent for 4 small dishes and a couple of drinks. Unlikely to return as the quality vs price isn’t there.

The Coach closed out our eating weekend in Marlow and it was a grand finale! It's relaxed and pretty casual while still feeling special, and the staff are lovely - not sure about their definition of 'small plates' though 😆 We started with cocktails - a Coach Cherry Cola and a Yuzu Martini which were generous and delicious - while we scrutinised the menu. We were recommended two or three plates each, so we both plumped for soup and scones then decided on a burger and pork with roast potatoes and hispi cabbage to share. We were advised by our server that the dishes would come out 'as and when' but they came pretty much as starters then mains. The Jersey Royal and watercress soup with cheese scones was beyond delicious and my dish of the day, and I started to suspect at that point that the treacle tart I'd been eyeing up for desert might be beyond my stomach's capacity! The pork was huge and beautifully cooked with crisp pommes Anna and tender cauliflower cheese and the burger beat my eating-buddy. We managed a crisp and fluffy roast potato each and I picked the cabbage leaf by crunchy leaf until I knew that I was defeated. We ordered a second cocktail each as I sadly accepted that I'd be wasting everyone's time by ordering a treacle tart that I'd only be capable of sniffing - there was absolutely no space left for me to pack it into 😞 Absolutely loved The Coach, and I'll have to come back - maybe we'll just do desserts next time...

Marlow is truly a charming treasure of a town. It’s just a little over an hour’s drive from the hustle and bustle of central London. Highly recommend a weekend road trip for a delightful lunch or dinner to change up the scenery. The Coach and Hand and Flower are sister establishments, both adorable wooden pubs with a distinct British flair. They exude an authentic and rustic charm with a touch of sophistication. Upon entering, I discovered that The Coach holds a well-deserved Michelin star for several years. Unlike Hand and Flower, The Coach serves dishes in small tapas-style portions. The open kitchen behind the bar operates with impressive orderliness. 👏 I strongly recommend The Coach Burger with Smoked Cheddar, Cola Braised Beef, and Dill Pickle. I’m not a huge burger fan, but this petite yet towering creation was so delicious that we ended up ordering another round! A steak patty topped with cheese, crispy potato cake, Cola Braised Beef, Pickle Cabbage, and Dill Pickle, all sandwiched between a buttery bun – the combination is a symphony of textures and flavors, rich and juicy! As we were leaving, we noticed the Whole Stuffed Rotisserie Quail with Haggis, Peppered Swede, and Whisky ordered at the neighboring table, and it looked incredibly tempting! We had some fantastic Cornish sea bass in a nutty chicken jus gras and perfectly seasoned pork with crackling out of this world. The roasties we ordered on the side were some of the best I think I've ever had. The drinks selection looks great, however as I was driving I went with non-alc. beer, of which the selection was less inspired. We came with a fifteen-month-old and the staff offered up a great little child seat. Would be great if there were changing facilities too. The atmosphere is more Soho brasserie than pub, and a very pretty one at that, so why they've put muted TVs showing Sky Sports above the bar is beyond me. They catch your eye and steal your attention away from both the stylish interiors and your fellow diners whether you want to look at them or not, and even if the restaurant was recognisable as a boozer still it would be an insult to the centuries-old pub building to litter it with flatscreens. Anyway, the staff were all lovely and if I did want to look at something other than my better half and our daughter then the front-row view of the kitchen is fascinating (and nothing like as heart attack-inducing as Boiling Point would have you believe). Aside from the bill dropping on our table before the brilliant desserts, The Coach was warm and welcoming, and I definitely want to go back.

We had a wonderful lunch here in the summer and have since been back for dinner and came again for breakfast this morning. Service is comedically bad. Sorry to say but seems to be next to no training/experience in the serving staff. We were given two lots of drinks on two separate occasions in the space of one 45 minute breakfast. Food is ok - best of the best ingredients undoubtedly but a lot of the ideas don’t work/aren’t as clever or well executed as they have been previously.

Absolutely amazing. Visited in November as part of the Gastronomic Getaway package offered by the H&F. From start to finish, it was stunning. A new concept for us in terms of how the food is served, but it was expertly executed. Highlights were the Chilli, chicken Kiev, and the battered cod, but every dish was amazing! The standout for the evening though, was Matthew the Maitre'd. Absolutely amazing, and Tom Kerridge should be absolutely proud of the guy. He was a genius with being the 'face' of the Coach, and took our meal to another level with his wine pairings and his knowledge and understanding of the menu. The guy deserves praise of the highest level, as he is such a compliment to the kitchen staff and just elevates everything they produce. An amazing experience

We were there to try their food, as you will see from the images they look interesting and also tastes delicious 👌🏻you can feel its a fusion of traditional dish with a professional touch, interestingly delicious. Soup was great 9/10👌🏻 Pigs head; I am not sure what to say but I can rate: 6/10 :) maybe I was expecting a little bigger than that 😃

Excellent food. I had the soup and the baked potato with tartare and my wife the parfait and the partridge. We were amazed by the intensity of the flavors. As to the dessert, the mango choux bun reminded me how top-notch patisserie tastes like. Service was helpful and attentive. If I have to nit-pick, I was not quite convinced by the online menu and I wondered if TV is really needed.

Ridiculously nice food, great friendly service, very reasonably priced. Even saw Kerridge himself in the place on Sunday. We shared 5 small plates between 2 of us, with a dessert and two soft drinks it came to just over £100. The burger was incredible. The choux bun dessert was out of this world, presented by the pastry chef at the table. You can only book on the day, but means it’s actually very easy to get in. There is really cheap car parking just around the corner on Liston Road.

Utterly fantastic food, atmosphere, service and the opportunity to watch professional chefs in action from your seat. What more could you want….? Perhaps a variety of Rebellion ales on tap….? Yep, they’ve nailed it. Maybe I’m just easily pleased, but for me, this is pure heaven in restaurant form.

Visited with party of 4 for lunch. Set lunch is good value, would not recommend a la carte. Service was quite poor, very slow, not attentive at all. To be fair to them they realised they were poor with us and they (unprompted) gave us a free plate of chips to compensate. I thought set lunch food was good (not great) but my guests did not like their food choices. I would return for set lunch, my guests will not be coming back.

Great food, wonderful service, lovely place. I'd highly recommend the muscles, but the rotisserie beef was a little underwhelming. The sticky toffee pudding was the best I've ever had. The staff were super amazing. Very attentive without being at all over bearing.

The BEST of British at this cozy, old fashioned pub in beautiful Marlow. The portions are small but after you’ve reached dessert, you realise you are full. Had the most incredible chips I ever tasted and the mussels in stout foam was an incredible taste. For my main, I had the seabass and I used the delicious chips to mop up the sauce - no one could talk to me as I was in heaven. My husband had the burger and it was the most unusual looking burger but it melted in the mouth. If you haven’t been, what are you waiting for?!!! Book it!

You can have tastier, cheaper, less salty food and more generous portions at any other gastro pub, Having to pay £10 for the luxury of roast potatoes and vegetables to accompany your meal is taking the proverbial.
