Our server Ian greeted us well and food was outstanding, Ian made good conversation and made me and my partner feel very comfortable.

Had an amazing experience here! Took the kids and I’ll say!! They were full and tired! Banging for your buck! Kids were full! So was I! Only cost me £30! 11/10 for the pizzas! Thank you to the boys with mullets that made my day!

Me and the partner popped over after visiting family! We had the starters a share meals. I MUST know how to make the nacho sharer! Incredible. The pint was also very much needed! Thank you 🙏 the staff were so helpful and patient for an indecisive gal like me! ❤️

The experience of this pub was one of the best places I have ate at.The food was incredible the burger tastes amazing. I 100% recommend.

It was my partner's birthday so we went for our evening meal. Being the festive season, we chose the festive menu. I ordered the burger and sticky toffee pudding and my partner ordered the turkey roast and lemon tart. My dinner was really nice, but my partner's... Her turkey looked like it had dried and been microwaved and tasted of metal/plastic and was drier than turkey should ever be. I know they say that turkey is often dry, but this was like leather and it had curled, much like dry leather does. The mashed potatoes were instant mash, and completely unseasoned and honestly, unpalatable. The roast potatoes where still white and even drier than the turkey. Most of the veg was over cooked and again unpalatable. All things considered, the turkey dinner was appalling! She left at least 70% after managing to fight her way through to find something that was worth eating, then gave up. The manager wisely gave us a discount on the cost of the meal, and at least her dessert was ok. It wasn't a good way to start our evening's celebrations with my meal being quite good and her's being inedible. To be honest, I think it could have been a microwave dinner that was opened a day or two ago, heated, not wanted and then reheated again for my partner. Whether it was or not, it was awful and we have experienced far better from there in the past. If not for that, we wouldn't ever go back.

Staff and management went above and beyond today ( Christmas day ) The 3 course set menu for Christmas dinner was so good, I almost felt ashamed to empty my cockney guts when I got home, just wanted to savour the flavour

57 quid for 4 people (including drinks ) We had: tika, gammon, fish and chips and a mixed grill

Food was OK at best. Very small portions and way over priced. I'm sorry to say that we won't be returning to eat or drink at the clock house again as the food let down what should have been a birthday celebration. If friends ask for my opinion about the clock house my honest answer would be, if you like paying over the odds for standard food then its the pub for you, if not then avoid

Absolutely lovely place and the staff are always friendly and helpful too and the toilets are always clean as well! Nice family Atmosphere a d also fab for parties 🎉

We visited this restaurant for a 10-year-old’s birthday with a party of nine and were thoroughly disappointed. Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet, it took over 50 minutes for our food to arrive. To make matters worse, we were told an item had run out, yet other tables that arrived after us were served it. When the food eventually arrived, it was dreadful. The chips were still frozen in places, dishes that should have been grilled looked anaemic, and one meal was missing an item entirely. The overall quality was extremely poor. The only saving grace was the garlic dough balls, but even they weren’t enough to salvage the experience. I sensed the staff realised it was poor but were still willing to serve it. I realise this must be a kitchen issue but management should not be allowing such an experience. The waiter offered a free drink/dessert to the person missing their item but by then it was already too late. We just wanted to leave. It's been a long time since I've seen so much food left on a table, and we all had different meals so that speaks volumes. Very poor all round – I won’t be returning.

The service we received was second to none. As friends we get together for a Christmas meal every year and the staff made it really special! Tracey Stead, John, Lucy and Jasmin could not do enough to make sure that our get together was fantastic. Although I don’t think Tracey was not even working, she went out of her way to look after us. Thank you all - really do appreciate the afternoon you have given us!

Unfortunately, I've never had a good experience here since it opened. The front of house staff have always been very pleasant and appoliglic, I guess they get plenty of practice. The problem is definitely management or total lack of. It's just such a disappointment. Lack of pride.

Shout out to Jasmine and Tracey who served us tonight, I had the meat lovers pizza with added chicken and jalapeños and banoffee tart for dessert, Pizza was cooked to perfection and the banoffee tart was that nice I had to have 2, Great way to relax after a busy weekend on call. Thanks guys 😀 xXx

ordered three meals and three drinks, they gave me 2 drinks at the bar but took an hour for the tea to come. Food was nice but took more than an hour to arrive. Ordered a leek and tomato soup and they gave me a tomato soup. Food was nice but not worth the wait

It is so nice to go back to the Clockworks in Ystradgynlais, this has always been a regular place to eat for me and my family but it changed hands approximately a year ago and it was awful so we stopped going there. We are pleased to have it back and the food was beautiful.

Was and still is a lovely place to go for food and drinks if you want to also the food did take a little while to come out but it was worth the wait absolutely loved the food.

Although they have limited staff I 've thoroughly enjoyed the experience 10 out of 10 was welcomed by Lucy she was very kind and the atmosphere in here is so much better. Because I have limited mobility lucy helped me by bringing me everything I needed with a smile will definitely going back

Went here to celebrate passing my course and it was excellent the food was magnificent I had this chicken burger which I really enjoyed my server was absolutely amazing she was very polite and respectful her name was Lucy she was very professional and was there for anything we needed.

Wend for drinks and a bite with friends food was good jasmine couldn’t help more with drinks and recommendations on cocktails. I did have to get my ID dropped down as I forgot it but had a mocktail while I waited

The staff are absolute stars. Very kind, helpful, and welcoming. No fault there. However, the food is hit n' miss. We only come because it's convenient and nice but the food is like a game of roulette. I ordered the "Meat Lovers " pizza, and I gotta say there's not a whole lot of meat or love. Compare this pizza to the other shown in the photos it's night and day. £13 for this? I can get handmade for less just down the road. Refunded and sat there and nimble on my partner burger, which I'll say was good.

Had a fab evening with my husband last night , one of the staff I believe was called Tracy was very helpful and very welcoming , overall we had a great meal and experience at this pub 🤗

Came here for Sunday dinner myself and my friend as we couldn’t get in anywhere else! The dinner was cold and tasteless, seems like it was chucked together and all frozen food! I will never eat here again and I advise others to eat elsewhere

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE ! There was hair on my food . I asked for the ‘mega mixed grill ‘ to be well done everything was under done , it was vile wouldn’t recommend eating here

Kyle the assistant manager clockworks refuses to refund a whole meal when the supervisor said they would refund because the steak x 2 was very rare/more well done now they said the replacement of chicken is good enough & not the refund the chef/assistant manager agreed the steak was medium rare, not at one point the chef or assistant manager came to ask if we would want the steak more rare the General Paul wouldn't have done this I am raising a complaint to head office I will not eat here again even with 25% discount absolutely shocked by the poor experience/service 😱😱😱😱😱😱

Absolutely what you'd expect. Seats that are uncomfortable after an hour so you eat up and get out, affordable okay pub grub and the usual brands behind the bar. This could be anywhere.

Was one of our favourite places to visit for a meal & drink. New owners who have dropped standards. Food ordered came out wrong had to order at the bar changed to no table service. Drinks ordered were forgotten had to go to bar to ask where they were. This is the 2nd time we have visited since new owners definitely won’t be going again.

We used to come here all the time, real regulars but avoided it like the plague after it turned rough and chaotic. We heard that the management and those accompanying them have finally (thankfully!!) left so we gave it another try today. We are so happy to say good old Clock Works is back to how it used to be! Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, delicious food. It’s so nice to see it back to how it was, especially the professional, friendly staff. We will become regulars again for sure.

I havent been here for over a year after a bad experience. I decided to take my 2 grandchildren after school yesterday,as heard new management have taken over. I was so impressed, it was lovely and warm, staff were so friendly & food was delicious. Will definitely be back.

Mixed experience walking in it wasn't busy for a Sunday afternoon. staff was polite and friendly, and we soon found a seat. x2 starters x2 Sunday dinners. Prawn cocktail We didn't wait long and the starters appeared in a 1980s style glass. there was a prawn for every pound I paid for the meal. but it tasted nice and the butter supplied with the bread was delicious. my partner hadn't finished her starter and the main meals appeared to my amazment. I'm 51 and never seen that before and worked in the industry for year. so forgive my horror when I seen this. the waiter apologies but just plopped the plates on the table and vanished as quick as my prawns. there was also a young waiter who was most helpful, only young possibley still at school. my first impression of my Sunday roast wasn't the best. the massive Yorkshire puddings were softer than the creamy mash and the stuffing was has hard as a golf ball and probebley better suited to teeing off. but the meat was nice. a mix of turkey and beef. so someone could obviously cool in the kitchen. just wish there application of putting it all together was as good as the way they could the meats. nice mash and sweet cabbage. it was not bad at all if you like alot of gravy. I mean alot of gravy. lol finishing it off with the sherry truffle cheese cake. I know most of the puddings are all bought in, but this was delicious. and absolute winner. I don't know if or when the last time I ever ate 3 courses. but this cheesecake was certainly a highlight. they said it was under new management, and this place could be a winner and money maker with some small tweaks.Bar staff are friendly and polite but could be shown how to pour drinks properly and as for the kitchen. give that chef the money he deserves and he might actual put out the meals that he can obviously cook. waiting staff. well communications needed there. that was I big NoNo that. is suppose kitchen was to blame just as much. but never had a starter and main meal on the table at the same time unless asked for. I have been as honest as possible. cost about £65 all in. 3star avrage. could easily be more but I could easily have given less lol

Had a couple of meals here some months ago and to say I wasn't impressed is an understatement, however I went for food there today as I heard its under new management and what a difference. The food was lovely the service was also very good. Will definately return again

Bar staff were very friendly. We were welcomed on entry and shown to our seats. Food and drinks were easy to order and the food was amazing!! Will definitely be visiting again very soon!!

Already a great start when ordering as they took allergies very seriously and the hosts were very sweet when checking our orders, the food was nothing outstanding but was some pub grub if anyone fancies a fair priced evening out 🙂 Everyone is ridiculously friendly and are sweeter than sugar to talk to. 10 out of 10 would come back next time we visiting this way.

Update: We went tonight (sept 21 2024) It was a great night, we had surf and turf, rare which well cooked and was juicy and delicious, chips were fantastic it was an alright pub meal. Drinks were a Thatchers for me and and two cocktails for £10 something for the missis. The staff were amazing, they told us that a cocktail pitcher worked out cheaper at £14 ISH but you got 4 drinks from it. We were already a couple in and I could not have got the missis and me back home up the hill after a pitcher, next time for sure. The banter with the staff was great, I miss those days and all of them were friendly and hilarious in a good way. The atmosphere was relaxed plenty of room round the tables, not too busy. We were told it has very recently changed hands and this change has obviously had a positive effect. It really should be busier it's just a nice chilled out pub. Prices are ok, not especially cheap but ok. Food is good and reasonably priced, humour is plentiful and free. They had a female singer who was really good to be fair, but I hadn't seen this advertised anywhere. She would have liked more people in, I'm sure. After the change in management give it a try it really is worth it. Original review: Went for a Sunday Roast, we were met at the door showed to a table, all very polite. Service was quick drinks came almost straight away. Ordered roast beef diner. Came with roast potatoes, sweet red cabbage, veg. The real result was extra roasties for £2.25 absoloutly worth it. Really nice diner in a nice pub. Would absoloutly go again. It wasn't that busy, which was surprising at 1:45 on a Sunday given how good the food was. 2x roast diners, extra potatoes, a pint of thatchers haze, a coke came to just less than £40. If there is a criticism then it would be only that the food looked bit too organised. As it wasn't overflowing with veg, everything looked a bit placed. But that's it, still a good meal. Update: just been back and had the steak and a pint for £12.49 that was great as well. Had it rare and was cooked perfectly, not quite melt in your mouth but pretty close, and for that price... incredible.

Took the family 10 of us last sat and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We all ordered and the food was good. The reason I never gave 5 stars the children said The hot dog was slightly burned and there wasn't enough kebab meat on his Donna kebab( Kids for you ) .The place was very clean and we will visit again when we come to see family .Thank you .

After an initial very disappointing first visit several months ago, I have since been back a few more times, and wow....what can I say. The staff were very friendly and helpful..... especially Emily in particular. Nothing was a problem for her whatsoever. The food was absolutely spot on and couldn't fault it at all. Well done everyone.....this is how it should be. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

We are on holiday and wanted a pub where we could take our dogs. Very nice clean pub. Food was lovely and cooked how we asked and the staff were friendly. Tables were cleared and cleaned within minutes of customers leaving. Would definitely go again if we had time.

Great service by Emily and friendly and nothing too much trouble. Half price mixed grill was a must, beautifully cooked thank you chef. Will be back again very soon.

Just visited this evening pre meal before my holiday starts very disappointed meal was basic I mean basic I ordered a hunters chicken which came out as a chicken breast covered with barbecue sauce and chips still looking for my grilled tomatoes onion rings and cheese which states on the menu when we went to pay we did complained they told us we should have said that the meal was not good I replied with saying that I not say because the menue stated what was meant to be on the plate rather than what I got was chicken and chips they did not like our complaint there was three of us and every meal was rubbish wished I had stayed at home will not visit there again

Had a lovely meal last night, my steak was done to perfection! The deserts were 20 minutes late, so after talking to a waiter, he apologised profusely and refunded the money for them, also had a free drink. I thought this was very good of them, our deserts came and they were lush, Definitely going back!! Thanks to all.

Great place! we visited last week and the place has been improved. the food was tasty and hot, the kids had a lovely time. staff worked really hard and they were really friendly.

As I had never been to this restaurant before I was a little concerned to try somewhere different especially when it comes to food but I had nothing to worry about at all. Every member of staff we had contact with was very friendly, polite and professional. The establishment was clean and I was so surprised by the size of both the inside and outside areas. We ordered 3 main meals with extra sides and two desserts, food was incredible, it arrived hot, cooked to perfection and all of our order was delivered correctly including items we asked to be left off. To conclude, I would highly recommend this place to friends and family.

Horrendous experience orderd our food starters were taken to a different table had a full refund and offered our mains for free so we decided to have them as at this point we were really hungry Mains came out and the food was freezing cold

The Lasagne with chips was absolutely delicious, any time we've visited we have had a lovely meal, at a reasonable price. We are strangers to this area but would recommend.
