First time visit. A welcoming atmosphere and helpful front of house and bar staff. The menu has s good choice of meals and our requests were catered for. Tracey brought our meals out with a smile, and piping hot. The food was great I will definitely return.

Staff are amazing, always so happy and chatty creating a really relaxed environment. The fact you allow dogs is lovely, and Skye loves a visit and the extra fuss she gets. Previously the food could be really hit or miss, but this was perfect and we will keep coming back now under the new owners!!

Meals were wrong, had to keep going up to the bar to mention things were missing. Ordered sauce on side had it only on on top of steak which I did not want. Complained to supervisor from Ammanford, he refused a refund and would not discuss the issue kept turning his back very rude. I am in the process of getting a refund through my bank as the supervisor would not cooperate in righting the restaurants wrong. Children’s meal was ridiculously small which has been a change in menu, ended up having to order additional chips and a 2nd kids meal. Food used to be fantastic but this visit has been disgraceful and awful. Manager or supervisor I was speaking to should not have that position as he clearly cannot deal with complaints trying to walk away whilst we are discussing the matter EDIT- I have now spoke to the manager over the phone who was rude speaking over me and shouting down the phone to take this up directly with Marston. I have been made aware that these are new owners of the pub I would totally avoid as they are unprofessional and have no idea how to run a business Additional edit - turns out the manager was the chef in the kitchen that night as they had nobody so it’s no surprise the food was the way it is, still no refund

We went here today for a Sunday carvery and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was,as usually when you go to chain carverys they are quite bland. The desserts were also nice. The service was lovely maybe a bit short staffed but that didn't affect the service we received.

Really disappointed, the clockworks is under new management, and it shows, the standards have really dropped, service was non existent, being a gluten free, I had no confidence in what I was receiving, as the bar staff ( you now need to order at the bar) had no understanding of what gluten free meant,the restaurant was very short staffed, only 1 waiter, 2 bar staff for a saturday night, we have been to the clockworks lots of times, but now unfortunately this was our last, really disappointed in how far the restaurant has slipped.

This was a brilliant place to have a meal with family or friends. Our last visit was November 2023, Unfortunately I can't say that this time. We went for our wedding anniversary and instead of the table service, we were told to find a table (even though we booked through the website) and order at the bar. We asked for the gluten free menu, the bar staff rolled his eyes and gave me a seriously dirty menu that I really didn't want to touch. We ordered the gammon (gf) and a tikka curry. The gammon was very fatty and not particularly nice and the curry was served with stale naan bread which was extremely disappointing. We stuck it out for a dessert which if we were expecting bad we were not disappointed. Staff really couldn't care less, they will get paid anyway. Asked if there was a change of management which there has been. We will not be coming back again as I no longer feel confident that I will get a gluten free meal even if I ask for one.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, unfortunately the standards and staff have really changed, staff unhelpful, we are gluten free and staff were not intrested, we have visited many times, but this was the first time we felt worried about our food, I assume the chain has changed as it has really gorn down the hill, a great pity we will not be returning

Shocking! Customer service was awful, 2 waitresses were downright rude, Ordered onion rings as a side order, stated on the menu 6 onion rings Meal arrived with just 3, when I informed them that the side order of onion rings wasn’t correct, 2 waitresses came over saying I had the correct onion rings, one pointed her finger right at the onion ring on my plate saying “that is an onion ring” 🤣 I wasn’t denying I hadn’t had any, not the 6 stated though which we were going to share At the bar my partner was ignored when trying to order a pint, the girl behind the bar seemed only interested in flirting with men at the end of the bar, the only helpful member of staff was Xavier who eventually poured him his pint Not a good experience at all We won’t be returning even though it’s very local to us

Had a lovely family meal for my daughters 30th birthday most of the family had a carvery and really enjoyed, other family members had steak and was cooked perfectly. The gentleman serving the carvery was friendly and polite and the lady I belive her name was Katie who was looking after us was very helpful and polite. will definitely be returning soon.

After having been a regular at the clockworks since it’s opening and have always enjoyed my experience there, the new management have ruined the place, food is no longer served after 7pm, kids are running around the restaurant and behind the bar, you can no longer order food and drinks from the app and now have to go to the bar, where the staff don’t seem to be anyway so you end up waiting long periods before somebody even sees you, the atmosphere is also not the same as it used to be and attracts more of the local lowlife who now drink there regularly and are loud, swear and are obnoxious. Give it a miss

Always fabulous service. Emma is amazing with everyone. Food is good. The only reason why I don’t go there for nights out is the price of the wine. £8.05 for a large wine. Beer is expensive too apparently. Don’t pay that in big cities. That needs to be addressed in a small village.

Wonderful breakfast, freshly made and the "small" breakfast was huge. Relaxing atmosphere and every where was spotlessly clean. Beverley and Craig were great hosts and Craig even serenaded us at the bar, its a wonderful life indeed. Happy to come back again for dinner as visiting friends in the area.

Delicious Sunday Carvery, succulent roast beef, roasted seasonal veg, Yorkshire pudding and homemade stuffing. Choice of 6 veg in addition to boiled, roast and creamy mashed potato with lovely thick gravy. A lovely warm welcome and staff are very helpful and friendly. Gold star to the chef 🌟

Had a carvery today , tasted lovely but unfortunately food was cold in parts. . We came with my son and girlfriend which their food came and then we went to get our carvery but nobody there too serve us . I think they need more staff for a successful business to thrive on a busy day

This place has gone to the dogs. I have been a loyal customer of the clockworks for years but the new owners have ruined the place. Not accommodating and feels as though they don’t want you eating there, even closing the kitchen at 7pm on a sunday!! Staff are rude, have awful attitude and allow anti social behaviour like vaping inside, staff swearing at customers and kids running around behind the bar. I will never step foot in this place again - Marstons please get some decent owners in before the whole of ystradgynlais starts boycotting the place!

For Christmas and Mother's Day my son and daughter bought us in total £250 of Marstons e-vouchers, we love The Clock Works so after checking the vouchers website to make sure we could use our vouchers there, we came over, when my husband went to order our meals he was told that as nobody knew which button to press on the till for us to redeem vouchers, we couldn'tuse them!!!! I am appalled by this, what am I supposed to do with all my vouchers? It's absolutely disgraceful!

Passed the Clock Works on my way to the garden centre in Ystradgynlais.I had heard of it before but had never been there.Called in and booked a table for later that afternoon.Very pleasantly surprised by the size and decor of the building.Plenty of room to park as well. My partner had the lasagne which she assured me was home made and the chips were beautifully crispy and plenty. I had the fish,chips and mushy peas after asking the waitress if it was cod,which is was.She told me that her husband was the chef and made his own beer batter for the fish, which was fresh and delicious.Prices were reasonable and rhe room was cosy and warm.The two staff who dealt with us(Jasmin and Emma)were amiable and very welcoming. We had a very enjoyable experience and will definitely be returning.

Today's visit to the clockworks left us disappointed. While we have always experienced accommodating service and enjoyed the food, today was an exception. Despite inquiring about available tables for my daughter, she was ignored, and the staff attended to others behind her in the queue first. When I raised this concern, the front-of-house waitress became extremely rude and confrontational, insisting they were fully booked despite visible empty tables and open slots on their website. Despite the willingness of one male staff member to seat us, the same waitress insisted there was no room and displayed rudeness towards both myself and my daughter. This experience has raised doubts about their honesty and integrity, and regrettably, I am inclined to avoid visiting again.

We booked a table with ease. The service was brilliant. I think it was the mangeress that dealt with us. She was lovely and was very accommodating when I asked if I could bring a birthday cake in for my daughter’s 30th. Superb service from everyone. We’ve been here a few times and this was the best time we had. Food was lovely too.

First visit in a while but to be unsatisfied. The place was understaffed so we wasn’t created at the door so we had to ask should we find a table. Looking for a table when the majority was dirty tables that was available. It wasn’t overly busy but could see the time we was in the venue not one table was being cleaned. Our table was clear but wasn’t wiped down so was sticky. We let this go as could see no staff on the restaurant floor. The food was pretty cold and far too many spices in our meals, more than should have been. For the prices you pay in a Marstons you would expect good quality food and clean tables. It’s not the staff’s fault they are understaffed so it’s more pressure on them so we didn’t want to compline to them but to do so on here. Won’t be visiting again for the price it is for what you get. Shame.

Went for lunch today. New management and chef so we were interested to see what it would be like. Emily served us, she is wonderful, friendly and welcoming. So glad to see her still working there. The food was beautiful, cooked perfectly, portion sizes were bigger than they used to be. New chef did a great job. Great value for money, thoroughly enjoyed our meal .

As regulars, the food was very good, as usual. There was a battle with the manager unfortunately, who refused to accept the "30% off voucher", that I'd received from The Clockworks, just the day before, saying that it was a generic Marsdens voucher, not specific to The Clockworks, even though it was headed as from The Clockworks. After much back and forth discussion, the manager realised his error, and apologised, and accepted the voucher. Other couples were affected too, and theirs was refunded later.

Service was excellent with Xavier and our order arrived really quickly. Food was lovely, with the steak cooked perfectly to temperature. Would visit again.
