Always a great atmosphere when you walk in. The barista is always the best compared to anywhere else it seems. If you like coffee, you will like this Costa Coffee in Newtown.

I go into Costa in newtown powys 3 or more times a week the staff is always jolly and happy and is extremely friendly they keep the place clean and tidy and the service is remarkably good. I am disabled and on a mobility scooter and all the staff goes out off there way to help me any way they can. But I have to say that I read a bad review and and was very annoyed with the comment made about it being unkept sometime they may have to in a queue when more people come in at the same time. But they serve them and if they are sitting in they sit and the staff will bring it to them and always apologise for the wait but you have to wait anywhere you go if they are busy at times. All I can say is to the staff is carry on with the great job you all are doing and keep smiling 😃

Good to sit and do work, very quiet and lots of drink selection. Prices aren’t so great e.g. small iced frappe- £4.15, although it is quite nice.

Ideal spot for lunch and a quiet unwind. It was fairly busy but not noisy.

Alex the manager and most staff are amazing, my morning coffee on a Friday after my Nightshift is the highlight of the week. Alex is a true asset to Costa, his coffee is always excellent, happy to make it hotter if taken away if you ask. The foods were okay prepackaged so not to the control of staff but always presented nicely. The atmosphere made by the staff is friendly and upbeat. A little dark in there but something HQ needs to invest in tarting it up.

Fantastic little Costa. Customer service from the management and staff is top level. Nothing too much trouble. My elderly parents are treated like royalty and looked after so well. Highly recommend a visit. 10/10

Not impressed the coffee was tasteless even though l ordered a latte with an extra shot 🌷😥

Slow service took 20 minutes to get a quick coffee, the place itself is unkept, the seats/furniture has not been looked after properly. All air con units are leaking and stuffed with paper towel. The place as a whole is grubby if your are a Costa fan, I would not come here as you’d only be left disappointed.

Staff are pleasant but they don't seem to clear tablets. The one barrister is excellent and always remember my preference.

We were served by a person called Jordan (I think, if I glanced their name badge correctly) they were extremely helpful, thorough and friendly. Saved 50% on our food items (4 desserts, a wrap and pizza bread) so a cheap and very cheerful visit! Will look forward to returning!

What a good call popping into Costa Newtown today! I'm starting to try alternatives to dairy, and asked about the soya milk option and had a really helpful chat and a sample of the 'Ultimate Blend' that Costa use, which was lovely. Thank you for the help and fab coffee!

Called in this morning after a run with a friend. Cannot fault the friendliness of the staff in today. First class on all levels and lovely and cosy atmosphere. Perfect start to a Sunday or any other day! 👏 10/10

Unfortunately for us, today's lunch experience in our local Costa wasn't how we usually find it. Extremely slow service due to only one person serving behind a very busy lunchtime counter on her own, juggling making coffee, warming food & taking the orders. She really did need back up and we really felt for her. There was no decaf coffee or toasted tea cakes which was quite a disappointment for me but certainly not her fault. After choosing our food we sat down to one of the only tables that had been cleared of crockery. We noticed that the general cleanliness and up keep of the upholstered seats had seen better days which is a shame because the whole place used to be so clean & tidy. Our food was OK but for me it wasn't the best experience I'd had. Not too sure if we will be going back but am very aware that I believe all of the issues are down to being short staffed. Have to add to these comments that we actually tipped the server as we felt so sorry for her & she was doing the best job that she could in circumstances that could have been avoided.

Gotta say...... Impressed. This is the ONLY time I've visited a Costa where the barista warmed the cup before pouring. It made a huge difference. Only thing I don't understand tho'. ... Why add the espresso to the steamed milk? I always add the milk to the Espresso. Much better effect ... Crema on top. Latte art if you want to present it well.

Poor service didn't co-ordinate food and drink - although staff friendly enough they need to keep their eye on the job!

Service poor. Tables filthy. Employees miserable. Service slow and condescending. Will not be rushing to return to that particular branch.

Need to sort the air con units, like a fridge and leaking everywhere, all over table and chairs! Door always open so not very cosy! Coffee very hit and miss lately, very often just not hot🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I admit a part of me doesn’t want to like coffee from Costa because it’s not ‘cool’ and indie but their cortado is actually a really good option. That said, this branch lost points when having asked for whole milk in my coffee, they tried to use semi-skimmed because they couldn’t be bothered to go out the back for more whole milk.

Forgot half my order .... Which is pathetic when I only ordered 2x drinks .. stating I wanted a cup of tea 3x .. I never usually use them due to the time and costs ... Shocking .....not so sure I will again....

I love a good costa coffee. Sadly this is not a good costa coffee, i won't be going back. I will say staff were friendly, However the place was dirty, very dirty. Moved 3 times due to dirty tables and chairs, look liked nobody had cleaned for days. Sat on settee eventually, but one of the seats were dirty, wife took cushion off to wipe it down and wow, the mess under there turned my stomach over, then noticed spoons for lattes were dirty just as i was about to put in my cup and stir, drinks lukewarm, should have realised there was a issue with the amount of flies in there. Toilets were no better. Both me and wife have had upset stomach since visiting. Dont know if its a franchise or owned by Costa, either way it needs sorting out

Had a great experience today at the Newtown store. Great customer service, friendly and helpful. Ordered a hot chocolate, served fast. Offered a Costa App card too. Definitely recommend a visit.

Clean and tidy. A very happy young guy served us, he never stopped working all the time we were there. Excellent quick lunch. I had a smoothie and a beans and cheese toasties, very tasty.

Can’t fault the guys in Costa, Newtown. Service is first class, so friendly and helpful and welcoming. Drink was perfect. Started the day off just right!

Think we must of visited on a training day , drinks tasted ok but were not hot. Confusion on how to use the till . Toilet was very unclean . Seemed staff on day were new and still had alot to learn. Other than that seating areas clean and tidy.

We turned up, had coffee, toasted sandwiches and left. The staff were friendly, quick to serve us and the food was what we expected. It was clean, tidy and warm. Some people have delusions of grandeur when using franchise chains. They are a functional outlet that help us out when we need a fix. Cut the basic wage staff a break and appreciate it for what it is. We were quite satisfied with our experience.

Worked there for a little over a month…never again don’t recommend it to anyone, i always wanted to be a barista but now i’ve decided to change career paths entirely…thanks chris

Wouldn't normally opt for Costa as a first choice but it was the only place open that would allow dogs. 6 of us, plus a baby and a dog huddled in on a rainy day .. the male barista advised he was the only one in that day. What a trooper he even showed up! Super calm with a queue behind us and great customer service. We were just a mere snapshot of his day and if he carried that enthusiasm and attitude through the day then he deserves a medal. Thank you!

Have been here twice. First time took forever, second time I walked out after being totally ignored at the counter for 5 minutes.

Very friendly ginger hairs barista. Made good coffe and non coffee drinks. Also had a very nice kitkat muffin. Wanted a white iced mocha, she advised that sadly they had ran out of white sauce. Offered an alternative which were helpful. Ended up having a strawberry lemonade as I wanted a refresher after my iced cappuccino

I was getting a bit bored with Costa stuff but this coffee shop was the only place still serving coffee, snacks and cakes after 17.00 in Newtown Powys. But the staff were brilliant, friendly, chatty and helpful. I'll always go here now regardless of the other options.

Awful customer service. Staff are selective on who they do track and trace on. Staff are also getting into arguments with customers (today 2/8/21 around 3pm) an incident with customers who were clearly from the south of England over the fact local customers were allowed to drink in.without doing track and trace? But staff were refusing to serve them without track and trace due to the lack of a Newtown accent ?? This is unacceptable. And could leave Costa open to legal action if this doesn’t get looked into? Track and trace for all customers drinking in should be done. Not a free pass to locals. and refuse to serve non locals wishing to drink in ? Incredible. I didn’t fair too well on a previous visit here myself. But thought I’d try again only to witness the above chaos? My previous visit is below.. Staff eating a sandwich while serving me on the till. Bad enough yes? Worse though. The short young lady serving me only put the sandwich she had consumed on my bill until i requested my receipt?? And spotted it. Eating on tills. Refusing to serve customers. Groaning when customers ask for a receipt? No hello.. no basic manners? Where do they find the staff at this branch? Shame. As i like the products. But won’t return here. As staff here clearly shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near customers. They have zero customer service skills.

Visited today (4 December 2020 - 08.15) and had an excellent experience. As it was quite early there was initially only one member of staff working but the lady was extremely professional and friendly. I was promptly served. She asked to me to log in to track and trace and even offered to help me if I had any problems accessing the system. The lady was so cheerful and chatty, she brightened my day. The cafe is operating safely under the Covid19 regulations and the cafe was exceptionally clean, I felt reassured and safe. Other reviewers have mentioned that the cafe is dark. I think the lighting is subtle and wouldn’t want anything brighter otherwise it would feel like a supermarket cafe. I will definitely use this coffee shop in preference to other cafes in the town. The customer service was superb.

The quality of produce is very good hence very busy. The service is good and a nice hospitality experience.

Love this place it does the best coffee and has a lovely atmosphere so you can chill and read the paper. Staff are amazing and work so hard and keep calm even when there are queues fair play. They do an amazing job 👍

Stopping off in Newtown on boxing day, we weren't expecting to find much open, but Costa Coffee was luckily. Nice Costa, just over the Welsh border, in an old building with bags of character and low ceilings! Since it was a quiet bank holiday, only one barista on duty, but still served quickly with a smile. Hardly any comfy sofas now, but found one at the back. Good latte and sandwich - though no gluten free options!

1st time I went in the male barista was painfully slow, a customer was basically flirting with him, pouring her own milk and all that and chatting for ages, I ended up walking out as we were the only 2 people and I wasn’t gonna waste my time waiting for someone to flirt. 2nd time my frostino wasn’t even icey, it was a thin liquid. I’d avoid this place too slow and they don’t know how to make their stuff properly

The menu is pretty much what you'd find anywhere else in the chain and similarly priced. The inside area is a decent size with disabled access to one side and ramping indoors. It has a pleasant, comfortable feel to it and is clean and well-kept, as it's fairly new. There is disabled parking on the street directly opposite the cafe.

I think we needed that in our town. I mean i love the 'local' independent coffee selling places but its good to have a choice. And nothing beats a costa hot chocolate on a cold day...
