The Clock Cafe in Scarborough

Must have been to Scarborough a thousand times and never been in this little cafe before. I think it's a well kept secret. Right past the spa, it's quite a walk. Had a lovely coffee and a cake.

Sat outside with our dog. Views are lovely. Queues were through cafe and onto outside. Waited approx 20 mins. Cash only, but there is no notice until you are near front of the queue. Otherwise lots of choice from hot meals snacks and afternoon tea.

This was our first visit and we found the food was excellent!! The staff were very friendly. Will definitely be returning

Parked on the clifftop free for 3 hours, then rode the cliff lift with a return ticket. Short walk up to the Clock for a quick coffee and a choccy flapjack. Sat outside in the autumn sun 16c lovely view over the bay and beyond. Short walk back to the lift. Very nice!😍

Great little cafe with an old school feel to it at the spar end of Scarborough near the Italian gardens wonderful place if you want a quieter more relaxing time , no card machines on site

Dog friendly inside, not just outside. Good strong pot of tea, with additional jug of water and a choice if soya milk or oat milk as a non dairy alternative. We head steak pie, chips & peas and beef burger, chips & salad. Both good. Please be aware cash only

We are regulars here but feels it has completely lost its direction. Food below par, dry cakes, unsure staff..the view alone is no longer enough reason to pop in.

Great cafe, loads of options for drinks and food, will go again. Staff are really friendly and has a great atmosphere.

First time visit and not disappointed. Cannot believe we have not tried this place before. Food, service, atmosphere is wonderful and the price is very reasonable.

If you want coffee and cake this place is fabulous, the staff were great when I complicated the order and it all got confusing but totally my fault. Cash or bank transfer only which is very trusting, don't know the reason for this but I'm not deducting any stars because I had cash

We come to Scarborough regularly and this is a common stop for us as I used to come in my childhood with my parents. Love the amazing views and nice location in the renovated cliffs but the food, cakes and coffee are mediocre.

This is a great place, the food was brilliant (I had a breakfast that they serve all day. My wife had a jacket potato with cheese and beans and they were both spot on.... Why the 4 stars? (It was the tea, as weak as very weak tea!). Also, remember to take cash to this place as they don't accept cards. Now, just look at the tea in the photo, I'm not sure that it's seen a tea bag!?

Great place to enjoy a fantastic view of Scarborough and it's beach and harbour. Outside seating in an elevated position makes for a special experience especially when the weather is favourable. Snacks are reasonably priced and attractively presented. The path leading north from the cafe passes through pretty gardens and there is a lovely play area for children. Well worth a visit.

Been going there for years. I grew up on South Cliff. I like the way it hasn’t changed since I was a boy. Went today after giving a miss for a year as it was getting hard to get a table outside because of its increasing popularity. I’m sorry to say I won’t be rushing back. It’s just too unkept now, it’s not like me to complain about the toilets but they really were awful. The cafes gone downhill since last year.

So old fashioned. Looks quaint and old. Doesn't take card payments. Has lovely cake and scones. The views across the bay to the harbour and the castle are great on a clear day. The walks along the cliff paths behind the cafe are very pleasant too.

Stopped for lunch. Was able to do a balance transfer as I don’t carry cash any more. Very friendly staff. Service was fast. The food was very good.

Went in to order to be told that they dont accept card payments? In this day and age why do they not do this, more people since Covid do not carry cash.

Would of scored 5 if the staff were friendlier on our visit as the views are amazing. We ordered cream tea had no cream with the scones so I went back up to ask for this and the lady behind the counter shouted rudely so everyone could hear that I would need to pay more for this even though we did!!

Lovely cafe, looking over south bay, on way system, sanitiser and sign in book. Lots of home made cakes and scones, hot and cold food. Friendly service, nice and clean. Good portions well presented. Great coffee and wonderful views across the bay. Yummy cake selection, hot meals, seating inside and out.

The Best Scones in Scarborough.

Great location near the Italian Garden South Cliff Scarborough. Wide selection of food on the menu and great specials. Order at the counter, and the food is delivered to the table. We had a great table outside with a fantastic view of the bay, beach, and harbour. Helpful friendly staff, note it was Cash Only when we visited - a novelty these days.

What was once a great value cafe with fantastic views over Scarborough is now a very expensive cafe serving poor quality expensive food but still has fantastic views over Scarborough The only thing worth the price are the scones with a mug of tea

Such a beautiful place to stop for a cuppa and a bite to eat with a amazing view.

I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed by the food. The service is friendly however there is always a big queue. The only menu is above the counter, which can be a bit awkward to read if you have trouble seeing. It would be nice to have individual menus on each table as well. The clock on top of the clock cafe needs a good clean as it is very dirty and you can barely tell the time from it. Apart from these things the cafe is a great place to eat with beautiful views of Scarborough's south bay.

Set at the foot of the impressive Italian Garden this little cafe sits on the beach side with panoramic views of the South Bay. (Earns 2 stars) The food is a story on its own .. the wife’s scone was good with butter , cream and a little plastic pot of jam which did one half of the scone. My cheese toastie , well as you would have found it was left untouched other than to look inside. It was the saddest cheese toastie I have encountered , cheap medium sliced bread with burnt crusts and not sure what the little bit of cheese was in the middle ? Sorry but if I’m paying £6 for a sandwich it should be edible. Shame because the coffee and the location were spot on !!

The Clock Cafe has THE BEST view imaginable. Delightful afternoon teas and quaint china cups, but there is nothing quaint about the portions - they serve proper Yorkshire farmhouse portions! They give fantastic value for money - we shared one as we hadn't gone there purposefully for afternoon tea but couldn't resist. We still brought a scone home as couldn't finish it. The homemade cakes and treats are gorgeous. I didn't have a lot of cash as it wasn't a planned visit, but you can arrange to pay by bank transfer, they don't have a card machine as it is such a patchy signal area, and even though it did look as though my bank payment had gone through, it has disappeared and I looked like I did a runner - the very understanding team requested contact numbers when paying by bank transfer and they messaged me to explain that the signal maybe affected my transaction. Oh well....we will just have to pop down to settle up....and sample the breakfasts next time, perfect excuse :)

Nice spot to stop for refreshments. Service was very friendly, but it was incredibly busy, so I queued for about 20 minutes for a couple of bottles of water and a slice of cake! The millionaires shortbread was excellent, though. I'd go back again. Had to pay by bank transfer as they don't take card payments. Easy enough to do, though

What a find.! Loved this place traditional coffee bar with reasonable prices and good hearty food. A GOOD! pot of tea in a pot with extra hot water the way tea should be served. Food was great with plenty of choices of sauces. I had A lamb burger chips served with side salad and mint sauce. Really enjoyed that. Staff were lovely attentive and quick. Lovely view over South bay and the old castle wall. The walk back past the spa has lots of interesting things to see

A good place to sit and enjoy the view. We had tea and scones which were good. The staff were stretched but did a good job.

Location is stunning. I could sit outside for hours on end, admiring the view and feeling the sun / wind on my face. Super value and wonderfully straight forward food. There's often no food in the world that's as satisfying as a pot of tea, egg and chips and a big slice of coffee & walnut cake. It's a step back to 1977 and perfectly retained in every way - dandelion & burdock and breakaway biscuits still reign supreme, there's no need for Innocent smoothies and granola bars in here. A cafe to rival the best from Sydney to Stockholm. (Amazing value too).

Lovely old atmospheric cafe on the South cliff with fantastic views and very decent food. Let down by the slowest service I have seen anywhere. Also allows dogs inside, which some people believe to be very unhygienic.

A quaint little cafe and well worth the 5 minute walk from the spa complex. The day I went they were experiencing staffing problems, but all in all I would pay it another visit

This cafe has one of the best views in Scarborough to sit and look at the sea. It's up a slight hill and steps but easy enough to get to. Loads of seating outside over looking the beach. Food is simple but effective at a reasonable price. We stopped for bacon butties and coffee which were fine but the drinks could have been hotter. The cakes and scones looked great though. In June 2023 only accepting cash payments so be aware of this before visiting.

Lovely place to go to, to get out of the hustle and bustle. Sit and relax with a cuppa and take in the views. Plenty of options for what to eat. Give it a go.

Old Skool cafe up on the hill overlooking the South bay in Scarborough. It's cheap and no frills, but a nice spot to sit and look out to sea. Tea was standard and the cake was ok, but it's a nice place to sit on a sunny day.
