Fantastic boozer proper local great atmosphere loved it .will definitely be back go there for the football and a good time meet up with my muckers staff welcoming and friendly will go back time after time.

Went to the clive with my partner to watch the rugby. Absolutely brilliant place to go, Michelle was amazing, fantastic with an excellent service, has got great atmosphere here. We finished the night, enjoying the disco absolute pleasure to be at a great place with great people. Will be back.

What a great night we had... made to feel very welcome by the staff. Very good selection of gins... later on they had a disco which every age group including my 55 year old self got up and danced ... Will definitely be coming back

The public house is excellently decorated and comfortable, but and one big but is the hygiene of the toilets which could easily be condemned

Had a fantastic night, we were out for a friends birthday. The pub offers 2 for one on some beers and cocktails, full advantage was taken. Staff were amazing, special thanks to Danielle Queen of the cocktails, she kept us all topped up, always had a smile. Will def go back.. Cheers guys..

I am a regular at the Clive Arms. The staff are amazing, fantastic service. Always live sport on all TVs. Well worth a visit. The Manager is always hands on and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble.

There were quite a few of us, my husband's choir seranata had a concert at a church in Canton on the Friday night & we converged at " The Clive pub" afterwards. One of the staff helped us put 3 tables together, & we spent the rest of the evening there. Very comfortable, & enjoyable. Friendly pub.

We walked in to a very noisy pub and one of the bouncers chucked a bloke out. Twenty minutes later there was fighting outside the pub between a group of women. Also loads of underage drinking there. It felt like a youth club for the dysfunctional with a few old hags as entertainment. I wouldn't be surprised if there were lots of drugs there too, the punters looked thst sort. I'll never go there again for sure!

I've been hearing good reviews about this pub since it's been under new management. I haven't met with the new landlady yet. Pub staff always friendly, amazing atmosphere, may need a few touches up here & there especially the toilets. I can't review about the live music but I heard it has had some amazing DJs. Overall a great place to visit, highly recommended

Lovely welcoming atmosphere here. Its totally transformed since the new Landlady took over. This used to be really troubled pub with fights and drugs. The new Landlady has cleaned it right up. Friendly staff, fantastic standards, well done all

Great atmosphere with large beer garden to the side and back of pub. Good mix of ages drink there. They could however utilise the top bar to serve in busier periods as there is congestion at the bottom bar making passing a little awkward. Gents toilets still in poor condition and the double door for the toilet wedged open which means people sitting opposite at tables can see the back of you using the urinals. Would recommend overall. Card payments and contactless accepted.

Came here last month as I haven't been in a while as I felt it was quite rough and rowdy when I've previously visited but now it appears to be under new management by a lovely Lady. It was nice to see the place having security patrolling the pub and beer garden and it didn't reek of weed where punters were freely smoking it and the previous landlord not doing anything about it. The bar stafff were friendly and working hard. Would like to return again on our next night out.

New landlady was very friendly, fabulous atmosphere, staff were kind and approachable. Cracking assortments of gin, vodka and rums 😁

they have employed a weak new manager who is led by her staff. 20 years drinking there and will now not step in there while the current staff are employed. Shame I can’t put minus. Terrible attitude.

Always busy but not a place I go to regularly.

We have used this pub for over many years as it had a great atmosphere and you would always bump into someone you would know. We visited on Saturday 19/02/22 in the evening there was a fair amount of customers in which was great to see. The staff are friendly and we’re ensuring customers were getting served quickly which was really good. The Guinness was not the best it had a sharp taste to it. Then they had a disco type thing going on which was so LOUD a lot of people started to leave I asked if this could be turned down slightly and the reply from the barmaid was “ I wish it could be love but we been told no” I am sure it was above the health and safety noise levels no one could hear themselves speak what a shame. The gents toilets were dirty and one of the cubicle doors was hanging of its frame. The standards sadly have slipped quite a bit since our last visit. I marked this three stars mainly for the noise level of the music the quality of the Guinness and the standard of the gents toilet. The staff are great this place just needs a tweak to get it right.

I come round frequently to watch the football as I live around the corner & am always made to feel welcome by Tim & the team great friendly service & also feel safe due the covid protocols they have in place. Highly recommend the pub to anyone.

We were in the Clive for a family get together on Saturday 8th Jan. The staff are absolutely amazing. Service is so quick, nothing is any trouble. The pub is spotless and the beer is of top quality. We would highly recommend this public house to family and friends. You won’t find many places that the staff give you such a warm welcome and are so friendly. Anne & Gerry

Upon entering my details were taken and I was taken to a seat. My order was taken and brought over, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pub itself was immaculately clean and light and airy. Will I be going back? Absolutely

Came in as a walk-in and was pleased that they had spaces and were very accommodating. The prices were ideal. Atmosphere was amazing and the garden is great. Dog friendly which is always nice. Would recommend to anyone.

Poor covid controls, sign advising to wait in small foyer, not acknowledged, so entered premises through double doors after a reasonable wait. A disinterested person asked if i had made a booking, i said no, i was just passing and i wanted a pint in the beer garden. No track and trace in evidence. I was not asked for id, or any details whatsoever. I asked if i could pay by card and was directed to the bar where i paid, but my drink was delivered to my table on a tray. Folks who were obviously regular customers and knew staff by name, stood right behind me and barged past, no real hand sanitiser points, no 2 metre queue management, i quickly finished my drink and left

Popped in for my first post lockdown pint on Monday. The San Miguel was absolutely delicious. I will be back.

Popped in after Cardiff city match, was busy which was to be expected. Staff seemed more interested in serving the regulars, rather than new visitors. Needless to say I wont be popping in again.

Plenty of TVs playing the match but no decent audio and the roof was leaking right onto our seating area, bar service wasn't great either

Plenty of tv's , pool tables etc. but the beer is expensive £3-45 for a pint of strongbow is dearer than the city centre .

I had to phone Mike every few days as he never once called me back to give me the price. In the end he went on holiday for a week and the staff said nothing booked in diary. We had to make last minute plans due to his lack of communication with us. Fine as a pub but would never hold a function here!

Recently been refurbished. You'd never know. A lick of paint =dearer beer. So not impressed

My regular. Has been for 30 years legally and illegally. New management now but still a fab place.

Nice busy locals pub, staff are friendly and helpful.

Staff are not trained at all and don’t accept national identity cards issued by EU member states as a “valid proof of age”. (This is basic knowledge of the challenge 21 policy). Worst experience of a pub ever.

Bar staff is racist, appalling customer service. Don’t accept european ID cards as valid ID - if I could I would give 0 stars.
