Friendly staff , huge selection of draught beer and food to die for

Had a fantastic even at the four elms. Only one massive issue I had is that it became like a lot of pubs and bars. It didn't hear it call last orders or even time, just had bloke go down the pub shouting 10 minutes to drink up. In 3 or 4 minutes, they said to get out.

100% recommend Sunday carvery!! Friendly service, spacious seating and great atmosphere 😊

Normally really enjoy it here but I think some of the new bar staff are abit rude and made me feel uncomfortable. I think i was overcharged aswell. Shame

Sunday lunch,good selection of meats and vegetables. Pork gammon turkey beef..chef offers a choice of meats i had tender beef and moist turkey. The veg selection today crisp and fluffy roasties fresh carrots peas caulflower cheese brussels sprouts swede and carrot mash.choice of sauces apple mustard ect, almost forgot lovely yorkshire puddings. Whilst eating noticed veggies being freshly topped up. Well worth the price. Definitely reccomend. Over heard veggie gravy available on request. Food served on warm plates another bonus.

Great atmosphere, service very good but some of the beer was awful ("Brains SA" and "Tiny Rebel") but the "Neck Oil" beer was excellent. Prices were a bit steep too.

Great local Camra pub which has good range of lagers, beers and ciders amongst other things. Good pub grub too, including a good value Sunday carvery. Pub has lots of tvs for watching sport plus a fab beer garden. Bonus - mens toilets have just been refurbished. Ooooh

Great food at reasonable prices. The only down side was the pub claimed to be dog friendly... when we arrived we were told we could only take the dog in the garden. We couldn't dine inside..... so that doesn't mean it is dog friendly. The pub garden was nice, but it was dark and cold. Food was delicious but went cold quickly.

Went to celebrate my son's birthday eight of us, the food was a real let down. Two of us ordered fish and chips, the batter was over cooked rock hard and as for the chips we'll if you called them chips more like scrumps and rock hard. Will never eat there again.

Came here to celebrate my partner finishing her masters! Good pub with excellent beer range! Owner was really friendly, gave dog ice cream for the little pup with us! Big beer garden- really nice! Didn't eat so can't review

As a french... It's amazing, you have to try their plates !! Miss this pub and the atmosphere so much but I think i miss the fish and chips the most !! Can't wait to come back !!

This is a pretty big place, with multiple areas to choose from - there's a cozy area by the bar, an open and a closed one skirting the beer garden, and the beer garden itself. The food served is surprisingly good and the on-tap drinks options uncommonly varied. Four Elms seems to be mainly frequented by locals, giving it a great unique charm and ambience. Sporting events are always screened with a baffling amount of available TVs to enjoy the events on (15+). There's no table service, although the food is brought to the table once ready, but the bar staff is fast and always nice. Highly recommended. Edit 2024: Stable quality, same experience.

The young man was amazing ! Really welcoming, fast and efficient + Always busy doing something ! The tattoed girl could be more polite. From France, someone who worked in hospitality too.

Llegamos a los cuatro olmos con la esperanza de algo de comida. Este solía ser nuestro local, pero desde que se mudó todo el lugar se ha ido cuesta abajo. Empezamos tomando un Guinness y un Aspalls sin corriente de aire que ambos saborearon, así que ambos decidieron optar por una coca-cola en su lugar que también sabía lo mismo - nosotros mismos dirigimos un pub y estamos seguros de que o bien las líneas se habían liado o no pueden cuidar de su bodega. Luego pedimos 2 filetes de grupa, uno medio raro y segundo raro, (que solía ser nuestro pedido regular cuando visitamos antes) , el tiempo fue rápido, sin embargo, me sorprendió el por qué porque ambos filetes eran duros como la roca y muy bien hecho. Las patatas fritas también se habían dejado en la freidora demasiado tiempo, por lo que todas las patatas estaban duras y muy grasosas. Enviamos estos de vuelta y la camarera era muy disculpado , no su culpa en lo más mínimo a pesar de todo, y dijo que el ‘chef’ nos haría un nuevo filete. Mientras esperábamos habíamos pedido una porción de los bocados de cerdo pegajosos que sabían bastante a harina frita, hasta el punto de que mis dientes chirriaban mientras masticaba - 2 pedazos de carne también puedo agregar de toda la porción. Los filetes nuevos luego regresaron, ambos cocinados exactamente igual que los 2 filetes anteriores que pedimos. La camarera volvió para comprobar que todo estaba bien, que hasta entonces pedimos un reembolso porque prácticamente no quería comer nada más que salió de la cocina. Nos dieron un reembolso y juego limpio para el personal del bar no había ningún problema con la forma en que trataron la situación. Es una lástima lo que una vez fue un pub encantador donde estábamos deseando comer aquí hemos tenido una experiencia tan mala en cuanto a comida. Ni idea de quién está en la cocina, pero necesitan un entrenamiento serio para mantener los estándares de un pub tan encantador.

Went to the four elms on a Sunday evening. Far from impressed. Ordered a burger and my boyfriend ordered chicken wings. The burger and chips was DRIPPING in oil. Chicken wings were dry and tasteless. Worse than that. The service was AWFUL. Had to go get the food myself because we heard the bell from the kitchen ringing for over 20 minutes. The waitress was very rude and uninterested. 1/10. I know Sunday evening is not the best time to eat, but i paid 14 pounds for pure grease!

DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION , the whole point of disabled toilets is that they are accessable to disabled people , they have fitted a code lock on the door that i was told i have to que up at the bar and have a member of staff put in the ' secret ' code to unlock it EVERY time i need the loo, they said its because there are flats on the same corridor but those flats have their own locks and keys so does NOT effect the disabled toilet, filthy place , poor hygeine and rude staff , they wont even tell disabled people the code , they make u wait around spilling the contents of your colostomy bag whilst u wait for a barmaid to walk you to the loo whilst they input the code whilst covering it so u cannot use it without them escorting you! the wheelchairs will not fit in the loo as it is filled with old shoes, boxes and general crap they use as a cupbaord, soin short if your disabled you cannot drink in this pub!

Fantastic Visit to Four Elms Pub! The burgers are amazing—juicy and flavourful. The selection of Welsh beverages is impressive. Huge thanks to Gareth and his team for their outstanding service. Can't wait to visit again!

Top pub top people and cute dogs!

Just finished eating a Sunday lamb roast dinner. The meat & roasters were cooked to perfection and the vegetables and gravy were very nice too. Due of my acid reflux I very rarely eat more than half a dinner. However on this occasion not only did I eat the whole dinner I asked if I could pay the extra to take an extra one home with me. I'll be coming back here that's for sure

Often come in here and the football is on which loses stars for me. Also, the service was very rigid around the deals - we couldn't get the Tuesday buy one get one free deal because it didn't include vegan option. It was he same price as other meals but they wouldn't budge because of "the system". This just screams commercial and profit to me rather than a good local and homely pub

This place was just around the corner from where we were staying. We wanted the authentic fish and chips experience at least once while we were in the UK. We also got a jacket (loaded) potato, onion rings, mushy peas and two old mout ciders. We were both stuffed by the end. We loved the fish and chips. I'm very used to eating whole peas and was uncertain about having them 'mushy,' but was pleasantly surprised. We both learned that we are in love with Old Mout Cider while here, although unfortunately it's difficult to get outside of the UK. Very pleasant experience, will return if we get a chance.

Doesn't allow children so wasn't actually able to go in as I had my son with me. Please update your website to advise this. It's unusual for a pub to not allow children during daytime and will probably catch others out too.

Lovely little pub close to the centre. We didn’t have food but I did see food coming out and it did look lovely. We just had drinks but was a lovely atmosphere and the beer garden is great too!

Great place to spend a match day, and even when it's super busy you can usually find a table outside in the beautiful beer garden. Great beers on tap and some decent wines too.

This is clearly one of the best pubs in Cardiff. The selection behind the bar is great, they serve hot pork scratchings, there's a little garden, and the staff are all super knowledgeable and lovely. Treat yourself, go tonight

First time I have visited the four elms. I was surprised by the quality of the food, both me and my friend thoroughly enjoyed our lunch we had there. It has a very large seating area and a fantastic beer garden for the summer with lots of cover for her winter too. The staff were friendly and the food was served promptly. A very pleasant suprise and I will definitely be visiting here again soon

Easily my favourite pub in Cardiff, I am there much more than I care to admit! Brilliant pub, staff are friendly and service is great! Massive selection of taps and am always served quickly at the bar. The food is lovely pub fare, highly recommend the elms smash burger! Gareth the manager makes us feel safe and welcome, and there is always a great atmosphere!

A very pleasant pub serving good wines at a reasonable price. Lovely garden out back but as the weather wasn't great we didn't spend too long there but I would imagine that it's a stunning place in the summer. Friendly locals too!

I go to this pub regularly and will always choose it over another for a number of reasons. It has the best garden/smoking area in Cardiff. The staff are lush, so welcoming and quick with service. The prices are affordable for food and drinks. The menu has a good range of food, even for a vegetarian like me, and it all tastes great! 10/10 pub, 100% would recommend.

I go to the elms on a regular basis with my friend and we always feel like we’re being greeted by family. It’s such a gorgeous pub and we always feel safe. Particularly as a group of girls and gays. I couldn’t fault any of the staff, they’re all brilliant and have great chat. The elms will always be our local!

Just popped in for a drink on our way to St Peters RFC to watch a game. Really nice pub with a great range of beers. Didn't sample the food, but friends say in their experience it is very good, especially Sunday lunch, so will be back. 👍👍

Re the manager, he's surly, unfriendly, rude and tends to sit at the bar texting with half his backside hanging out whilst there are four or five people waiting to be served. Disgusting. Won't someone in the company have a word with him? Not going there anymore. Enough is enough.

Ich war während meines Aufenthalts in Cardiff 2x da und hatte jedes Mal einen wunderschönen Abend. Das Personal ist super freundlich und aufmerksam, das Essen ist wirklich sehr gut und auch die Auswahl an Bieren hat mich super zufriedengestellt. Die Atmosphäre in diesem Pub ist einfach super - ich kann ihn wirklich nur weiterempfehlen.

Good venue, more of a white collar pub but great atmosphere and zero tolerance on drugs and shady groups. A place to relax and enjoy a good night.

Ein typisches Pub mit sehr großem Außenbereich und vielen TV-Geräten, auf denen Sport übertragen wird. Wir haben den Elms Smashed Burger gegessen, sehr lecker und preislich absolut in Ordnung. Spätestens am Donnerstag sind wir zum Burger Thursday wieder da 😁

I was in Cardiff visiting relatives. I grew up here, but every time I go back I get a bit more depressed. The place seems to be in a never-ending spiral of decline. I think everyone who had any 'get-up and go' got up and went. I have known about the existence of this pub for about half a century, but today was the first time I went in. I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful, the beer offering was wide and interesting and even the music was ... OK (I generally hate music in pubs). There seems to be a focus on eating. I couldn't tell whether it was part of a chain or independently owned. The only thing which was clear was that it was not a Brains pub. (As a Cardiff boy, I feel like an apostate for saying this, but Brains really is a pretty lousy brewery, I'm sorry to say.) Anyway, this is a jewel in a distinctly non-jewel-like part of town. If you are in the vicinity pop in. You'll be pleasantly surprised, especially if you've visited a few of the other pubs in the town.

A pub that doesn’t get half the love it should. Massive outdoor seating area, solid selection of beer, some proper dirty (in the right way) food that goes perfect with a few beers. Bar staff are always a laugh. Manages to feel like a proper pub without the outsider feel.

We visited this pub for the first time for lunch on a Friday as our daughter had moved to Cardiff recently. It was quite popular. The menu selection was varied. We chose a burger, and bangers and mash, and both were excellent. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was too. Will definitely be back!

An American in the pub! Just moved to the area and thought I'd check out the pub and get some wings. Pleasantly surprised. Wings were spot on and the chips were also as food. Great selection of drinks including Blue Moon. My favourite. Definitely will be back.

If J.W.Bassett did pubs they’d be the best pubs in the world. This is easily the best pub in Cardiff. Great drinks selection, top notch food and a great beer garden. The landlord and staff are fantastic, they are the reason we have been going back for years. On bank holidays, rugby days etc. expect the place to be as busy as a city centre pub. The high demand speaks for itself. This one goes up to 11/10

Absolute banging pub with amazing staff and great atmosphere

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s probably one of the best pubs I’ve ever been in. Fantastic variety and selection of drinks, friendly staff and such a large pub, with a lot of large screens to watch football, variety of seating area both inside and outside. I didn’t get any food but even that looked top notch.

A lovely pub with a lot of excellent staff. As much as I have enjoyed it a very abnoxious man behind the bar just makes the place feel very unwelcoming. He acts rude everytime I order drinks, and gets my order wrong, and tries to charge me twice. He seems so ready for confrontation he is distracted from being able to listen to my request for a beer. This big loud guy just turns me off the place, otherwise the pub and the staff are fabulous

It's a nice pub with nice staff. But there's a really obnoxious rude fat guy at the bar who makes you dread ordering your next pint! The guys put me and my mates off the pub now. Shame because the others are lovely.

Stopped here Saturday for food and a drink. Wonderful pub with a great atmosphere. Such a wide selection of drinks to choose from and food was really good with a good selection of veggie food available.

This pub is brilliant, it’s deceptive as it’s way bigger on the inside. Lovely Beer Garden with heated lights for the colder evenings. Great atmosphere for rugby matches. They do good deals on drinks too like certain amount of bottles for cheaper! One of my favourite pubs in Cardiff!
