Love the food, i recommend the salmon chowder. Excellent service especially from Rea/Rei who was the maitre d, waitress, and was very kind and professional.

Small restaurant as you drive through Skye. No reservations but not too long a wait (outside area or small bar area to wait) Local produce, friendly staff

Nous sommes allés 2 fois dans cet excellent restaurant . Des spécialités avec des langoustines et du poisson . Mon dernier repas avec un magret cuisson super top . La daurade est parfaite aussi. Pour faire un restaurant de très bonne cuisine je recommande .

Please do not go here and save your money! Firstly I wanna start by saying the restaurant smelled of pee and not fresh sea food. This should’ve been the first red flag. We ordered the sea food platter for £80. The scallops and oysters were nice and that was it. The plate was mostly full of dirty unwashed Sandy mussels with barnacles still on them, the crab was over cooked and hard and the langoustine were also grainy and dirty. You get a piece of floppy bread each and ice cold butter that you can’t spread easy. The dish was missing items and apparently the mussels were cooked in garlic butter- definitely not as they were grainy from the sand. Truly upset as this was our first night in Skye and all the reviews suggested that it was a lovely places to go. We got 20% off our food and that was it. I work in hospitality and if a customer was served Sandy over cooked sea food I would fully comp their meal. Really upset by my experience here and hungry!! Please do not go and save your money. The chefs clearly don’t care about food quality.

We were staying close by and hadn't booked anything for the night we arrived. So we tried the restaurant opposite where we were staying. It was really good! The food was very nice (and decent size portions) and the service was excellent and very friendly. All in all, a super place to eat and we came back again. We eat in the bar area both times as there was plenty of space there and I need to use a wheelchair. I needed somebody to let me in both times – access is via the decking area at the back which has a ramp.

I will say that I did not give the restaurant a chance to sort out our issues. I was so fed up I left. They offered me a free pudding, but I did not accept it. It is only fair to say that given a chance they may have sorted out the issues. First, we had a very friendly waiter, and we gave our order. We both had Cullen skink. Now this can be made several ways, but I will say it wasn't to my taste (or my husband’s). It was extremely bland and had the whole potatoes in it You could argue that this is a way that some would have this, but I did feel potatoes should be chopped up a bit and the soup should be a little creamy and have more of a taste. Maybe even blended. However, although the above was just my opinion what came next was very poor service. I had spoken to the friendly waiter and made it clear that I do not like onions. I had thought scallops may come with a salad and I wanted to make it clear that I would prefer no salad than one with onions. It did come with a salad with TWO types of onions it it!!! On top of that the scallops were lukewarm! Now this isn't just unpalatable, but quite unsafe. My husband checked this out with a chef the next day. Colleagues have been here and had a different experience to me. I wonder if this was just a bad day. I really wouldn’t go back though. Janine M Maclean Isle of Lewis.

Having asked if it was a dog friendly restaurant at 17.55, I was told that we would need to sit in a certain area of the restaurant, which was fine and knowing that we’d have to wait about half an hour on a table in that area was also ok. We knew we were first on the waiting list so no problems there either. However, as more people arrived and waited on a table, at least 5 groups were seated before us, two of the groups in the dog friendly section, one without dogs. By the time we got a table 1 hour and 20 minutes later, the two groups that had been given priority over us in the dog friendly section, had eaten and were about to settle their bill. After eventually getting a table, we tried to catch the eye of staff to get a menu, we waited a further 20 minutes for this. We got our order taken quickly and got our meal at 19.55 - a full 2 hours after arriving. We asked for a large bottle of water, but ‘sorry there’s none’ ….. losing the will, we were offered wine as compensation but to be honest, we were glad to just eat up and leave. We left at about 20.25. Undoubtedly the meal was lovely, the chef tried her best to appease us and she was exceptionally nice. We got plenty retrospective apologies over the wait and when it came to paying the bill, for the first time in a very long time, no tip was left. Conclusion: Only go here if you like to be treated as though you’re invisible or like to be ignored. It’s not as dog friendly as they claim. Never go if you’re hungry or diabetic! Don’t go if you have other plans for the evening.

Op goed geluk naar binnen en na een paar minuten wachten aan de bar hadden we onze tafel. Leuk en gevarieerd menu. Keuze viel op soep van de dag en daarna zeebaars en St.jacobsschelpen. Echt verse vis!! Bediening is vriendelijk maar laat steken vallen. Restaurant heeft licht en fris interieur met prettige sfeer. Aanrader.

Modern restaurant, welcoming service and very fresh seafood served hot and nicely prepared. We enjoyed the fish trio with salmon, cod and monkfish. Good vibe, and well worth the wait while you enjoy a drink in the front porch or bar. Wine list is a bit limited. Overall solid recommendation.

Great local beer on tap and friendly waitstaff. The food was ok. It’s a busy place, so be prepared to wait during the busy time of the day.

Happened here by accident and to be honest LOVED it. And I don’t even eat much fishy produce. Good to have a beer on draught and some non fish based food that was very tasty and well cooked. Sticky toffee pudding( homemade ) filled me well up. Definitely come back again. Arrive early (5pm) as queues out the door by half past. Hoofin effort.

Very busy restaurant, but its thx to its servise and rly good food….very pleasant and patient personal, worth waiting for the table. Definitely visit it if you have the opportunity

Fantastic food. Lovely staff. Didn't wait too long before we got a table for 4. Haggis fritters were excellent. Loved the half lobster salad a bit small but very tasty. Trio of desserts were nice. Recommend the Raasay whisky with water to finish

There is no booking system here and the kitchen is open til 9.30 which is great when Broadfordnis bustling with visit and everywhere is booked out. The food was good and the staff friendly and competent.

Not entirely happy with the food, as visited a few years back and was exceptionally better! Staff were not experienced at all and forgetful! Scallops ordered were tough & tasteless, seafood platter for one was served on a plate not like last time on a tiered platter looking presentable. Bread was forgotten as were wash bowls & or wipes for seafood hands.

This was a hyped up restaurant. 'Get there early', 'no reservations' etc. There aren't many places to eat in this location so a seafood restaurant seemed tempting. It's expensive. Portions of the main ingredients are small. We had scallops as a main. It's difficult making a main course with scallops as they are expensive ingredients but this main came with 4 badly cooked scallops served with the roe attached. The rest of the plate was made up of bagged salad leaves, chopped cherry tomatoes and spring onions. Cheap and very unappealing. Not the 'salad Garni' the menu said. The other main we ordered was sea bream. The single fillet was ok but small and served with a few halved new potatoes and raw chewy chorizo. Both dishes costing over £22. It's not what we expected. It felt like bad pub food poorly thought out and served.

Bosses, don’t send your staff on expensive management or people skills courses. Treat them to a lovely meal at this v busy restaurant and let them watch a masterclass by the manager handling queues out on to the road and see her serving staff in action. Their hard work and excellence made this meal memorable. We enjoyed the Cullen Skink and Haggis fritter starter , the scallops and French fish soup mains. The sticky toffee pudding was the lightest I’ve tasted and the choc nut sundae superb.

It's a place you don't have to get all dressed up but can if you want, I will say that if you have ever had Cullen and skink soup don't buy it from here because it isn't very good . The staff were nice but especially Robert the young waiter it was a pleasure to meet him

Visiting Skye for the first time for my mam’s 70th birthday. We were really looking forward to some seafood and the Claymore was in close proximity to where we were staying. Looked on trip advisor and despite the mixed reviews, we thought we would give it a chance. However whilst the young man who initially waited on us was lovely, the food was not good and very overpriced. My mam had the monkfish special and it arrived cold and not cooked through. There was no apology when we mentioned this to serving staff but it was replaced and then served cooked through and at least hot second time around. My daughter’s mussels were tasteless and sauce watery. I ordered the fish and chips and whilst the fish was ok, if not a little bland and tasteless, the batter was soggy so I left most of it. We’re not a family to usually complain as don’t like a fuss but this meal was so overpriced and disappointing, I feel it’s unfair not to warn others. The young lady who we did give feedback to (after she asked if everything was ok when bringing our bill) was very apologetic and very nice, I just hope she passes our feedback to the chef so they can improve things for future customers. However, we definitely won’t be recommending Claymore to friends visiting Skye soon.
