Lunch for four today. Lovely welcome by staff. Great choice of food for our three courses. Vegan options available. Food was presented well and tasted delicious. Cian and Tom were cheerful and thoughtful as they served our food and drinks. Would recommend visiting here. Thank you for the experience. Planning to visit again

We had our office Christmas meal here and enjoyed the dishes that were presented and the ambience. The high ceiling allayed concerns we had about being in a busy restaurant just before Christmas with covid on the uptick. The bar adjacent to the restaurant had a good selection of spirits and the kitchens were reported to be directed by chefs cutting their vocational teeth. Recommended!

A truly fantastic venue showcasing excellence in fine dining in all aspects. The food was cooked to perfection with astonishing precision, each flavour and texture perfectly balanced with great skill. Service was friendly, attentive, and helpful, which added to the excellent evening spent here. With fantastic drinks on offer, and a broad panoramic view from the windows this is a.must visit venu! With the reductions in price due to the staff being in the process of being trained as part of their qualifications, this is fine dining at a more affordable level than most! Would strongly recommend.

Birthday celebration very good place and great service

Located in the Cardiff and vale college on the 5th floor. Modern interior, airy. Nice views and sunset for dinner. Service by Eastern European waitress both robotic and curt. Food selection limited. Portion massive: all courses. Tuna tartar was good but on the tasteless side- Under salted. The lamb was excellent- Came pink and would like it to be. Good accompaniment. Stick toffee massive portions and too much to finish- good dish. Variable cocktails- negroni. The apple martini was undrinkable. Good value for money for the size of the portions. Good option for dinner. Service could be a bit more Friendly, less judgmental and less Robotic.

We came for dinner on a Friday night, and while we expected the place to be busy, only 3 tables, including ours were occupied. The service was rather unfriendly, to be honest. Polite perhaps, but our waitress was really cold with us. The food was ok but nothing to rave about. The sticky toffee pudding was quite dry as an example. Wouldn't really recommend as overpriced for what it was.

Me and a few friends had a lovely evening at The Classroom which is a training restaurant for burgeoning chefs and catering staff studying at the Cardiff and Vale College. Firstly the location and atmosphere is lovely - perched 5 floors up, it has a light and airy feel with great views of the city if you bag a window table. I had great pre-meal communication from the manager, Thomas, which meant all our needs were catered for on the day. Oh, and the food was great too! Note the price we paid was for a special set menu with wines - so more extensive and expensive than a normal service. Support the students!

WONDERFUL food, top class service, a little lacking in atmosphere. Talk about value for money. You are treated and served as well as any high-class restaurant. Excellent wine selection, and the food menu was delicate and detailed. Staff were amiable and attentive. Highly recommend.

Very impressed with the restaurant, the views were very interesting. From the start the welcome was very professional my coat taken and hung up nice little touch. Drinks and wines the price you would pay on any restaurant so don't expect cheep drinks but the wine we chose was very nice. On to the food well the menu was interesting and we both new what we wanted, I went for tuna tarta with sour dough bread it was fresh and very tasty, my husband had the belly pork with slaw again really good. On to the mains I chose chicken again full of flavour our other maine was rib beef which was slow cooked and fell off the bone again full of flavour. Could not fault the portions either. Just the one dessert strawberry cheesecake and what a cheesecake it was probably one of the best I have eaten. Bill came with a tip to £58 well worth it and will definitely be going back.

Great food, nice atmosphere, old school service (which is pretty refreshing), £38 per person for 3 courses with virgin mojito each is a great value and food is amazing!

I found it clean and well organised. The toilets on the top floor are mixed, but there are disabled toilets if you prefer not to be seen in a compromised position.

Really bad. I know the waiting staff are students but they were awful. It's like they've never met people in real life. They were stood around with vacant expressions. The senior staff (assuming they are lecturers/professionals) weren't much better and looked like they were waiting with glee for their impending deaths. Went for Xmas work meal. My Sea Bass was like a sardine, and the amount of veg shared between 4 people was very poor.

Really delicious food. We had the traditional Christmas Roast which was extremely good. Service is good with friendly professional staff. I'd definitely go back next time in Cardiff and definitely recommend a visit.

Student take over menu (£12 for 3 courses) on Tuesday lunch times (in CAVC term time) is an absolute bargain.

My fiancé and I travelled in from London for a weekend away and were looking for a place on a Saturday night where we could have a lovely evening meal. After reserving a table a few days prior after seeing the website and reviews The Classroom had received, I was intrigued and hoped it would be a good enough evening for both of us. We had a lovely evening! The food and wine was exemplary, we could not fault the service and we stayed a little longer after eating for some cocktails which rounded off the night perfectly. And after mentioning it was a birthday celebration meal, a little extra plate of sweet nibbles was brought over with our dessert, a lovely surprise! I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, you get really good value for money and wonderful food.

What a fantastic restaurant. Recently visited on a match day and was blown away by the quality of food and standard of service. Two of us had an excellent 3 course meal and a good bottle of wine for £76. Fine dining and a great atmosphere on a budget.

Delicious food. The Duck leg rillette was lovely as a starter - ate it with the Focaccia which we had been given at the beginning - exquisite. Only thing pork Crackling delicious tasting but not crackly enough. Mash potatoes deliriously creamy with a lovely not overwhelming gravy. 3 people went with the Creme Brulee as it turned out got 3 in 1 which was fantastic. The cocktails both non alcoholic and alcoholic were interesting to the taste buds. Everyone enjoyed the food. You could ask for things to be without if you were allergic like the desert which had the Happy Birthday written on came without the peanut. You could see the 3 Chefs in the kitchen who gave lovely welcoming smiles. You can see the hills while at your table so the view was amazing. Can't wait to come back to Cardiff and book in again.

Stunning food and you can watch the staff cook which is great! Students only cook in the week apparently, but the trainers cook on the weekend to keep servive going. For the price and the views, I'd definitely recommend!

We had lunch last weekend and all were very impressed with the restaurant. The “class room” is in the college but once at the top floor and through the door you could be in any upmarket city establishment. We were seated promptly at our table and within minutes our drinks order had been taken. We then sat back looked at the Lunch menu and enjoyed a tasty glass of wine. I ordered the Duck leg rillette followed by Pan fried sea bream. Both were presented well and very good to eat. After the main course I sampled the Plum frangipane tart, almond ice cream, almond tuille. This followed the standard of the other courses and was divine. Nothing to fault this restaurant, 100% amazing food, service and quality.

Such good views and a nice place to eat thats out of the way. Very good service, and even better value, especially for such delicious food. Could not recommend this place more.

Took the aging parents here as a special treat. Now, they’re not much in to fancy food so it was a bit of a gamble...but it paid off. Lovely restaurant with amazing views over the city. The food was superb, not loads, but just enough that after 3 courses we were all full. Amazing presentation by the chefs and beautifully served by the staff. We all had a wonderful night out. We’ll be back for sure.

The vision of top professionals training future culinary talent is certainly realised in the high quality of food and service provided by students. It was difficult to chose from the menu as they all sounded so good. The food was presented well and the mix of flavours worked really well. The view from the restaurant adds to the ambiance. Definitely worth a visit and can’t wait to go back.

Really enjoyed our meal, being coeliac is great to have a gluten free menu, and actually have choice of what to eat rather than 'the gluten free option'. Top floor of the building providing great views of the Cardiff skyline whilst you're there. Staff were really helpful given my dietary requirements. Can't wait to go back.

We were staying in Cardiff for a few days & wanted to try something a little different for dinner. The resturant is smart with great views over the city. We forgot we were in a college as did we forget that the majority of people that looked after us were students. Everyone was extremely friendly & professional. Ewen. Richard & a lovely guy with an accent sorry we didn't catch his name were fantastic.The seasonal a la carte menu is compact however we still had difficulty choosing. The homemade bread rolls were yummy. The pigs cheek & raviolo starter were amazing, beautifully presented & each element on the plate playing it's part. There's an extensive wine list we were a little disappointed there wasn't a more reasonable house red. What we did have was lovely & we loved the top of the class cocktail. The main dishes were equally impressive....The chicken with pancetta & red gurnard were both cooked beautifully...a special mention goes to the Madeira jus, the fish & pickled carrots. We finished with cheese plate & coffee & almond trifle.. The peanut brittle shortbread & peanut butter ice cream that accompanied the trifle were stunning ...Im so glad I found room for it.We really did feel we were in a top class resturant & enjoyed the experience immensely. We live a fair way away but would love to visit again in the future. Gold star!

Booked in for Valentine's meal and we were not disappointed. It was my first time visiting and I was very impressed with the service as soon as we arrived. We managed to bag a window table, which had great views of the city. I'd like to book for lunch to see it in the day. Only one comment regarding seating was our table was quite large and we were sat on sofa-like seats. It didn't create an intimate atmosphere as we felt quite awkward. On to the food - amazing! I was overly impressed with my choice of dishes. The menu varies week to week so difficult to make specific recommendations. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again.

Visited for a family lunch. This is the third time we have visited for lunch, the seasonal menu was out of this world. Great vegetarian options that were extremely tasty. Service was exceptional, special thanks to the three young men who waited on us Tyler and two others unfortunately didn’t get their names. The lunch menu is such good value for such high quality food.

Very good food in great surroundings

Enjoyed our first meal here. As trainees the prices are cheaper than some higher class restaurants - but this definitely didn’t impact on the quality of food. Really tasty and presented beautifully. The waiter service was great although I must say, the Restaurant Manager did come across a little abrupt when he tended to us on the odd occasion. Maybe we caught him on a bad day, who knows. This won’t stop us from returning again soon though. Enjoyed it.

In una città con qualche problema per quello che riguarda la ristorazione ( parlando di qualità ) grazie proprio a Tripadvisor abbiamo scoperto questo piccolo gioiello, cena per quattro persone abbiamo potuto provare diverse opzioni dal menu nessuno e rimasto deluso sia gli antipasti che le portate principali preparate con attenzione e non solo estetica, il pesce per mio parere un passo avanti, i dessert buoni ( nella norma rispetto al resto ), buona scelta di bevande, ho pasteggiato a cocktail a base gin ( un filo di ghiaccio in meno sarebbe stato meglio ), personale attento e cortese. An amazing experience! Visited with a group of 20 people. The manager was fantastic at dealing with a few last minute changes. The food was delicious and very well presented. The only downside was the drinks prices. Wouldn’t hesitate to return. One of Cardiff’s hidden gems.

My wife took me as a pre Christmas treat and we weren't disappointed. You would never know that students were doing the Lions share of the work. The standards were fantastic and we'll definitely return.The pate and goats cheese starters were amazing. The veal and turkey mains were as nice, both really flavoursome.There's a fairly extensive wine list, and good selection of beers.Parking on the street outside is fairly plentiful and free after 6.

We visited on the 30th of November for a birthday meal and were disappointed to be told that they were now running a christmas menu. We would have chose to est elsewhere if we had know this, November is too early for Turkey dinners and significantly limited menu options. The starters were both good, as was the sticky toffee pudding desert. The venison main was pretty good, the venison was quite small but nice, and the potato fondant was dry. The Turkey main was a disappointment, the meat and the bon bon were both dry. An area the restaurant needs work is service. There seemed to be a lot of wait staff in the restaurant but everything was slow. We were also served by 5 or 6 members of staff on out trip which isnt a good way to work in my opinion. They also all seem to talk extremely quietly which makes it a lot harder for diners. The restaurant itself is nice, especially with the views from the floor to ceiling windows.Overall I think it would have been a different experience had the autumn a la carte menu been served as it was still listed on the website. Unlikely to return.

Visited Friday lunch time as part of Spa Day the experince from start to finish was absoultely lovely. I opted for the Pork Croquets, the Pan Fried Chicken and the Blackberry Cream and my friend had the Pork also then the Beef Brisket and the bread pudding and we enjoyed so much we are going back Saturday for exactly the same again.. If you havent been it is a real must and very resonable priced for a fine dining experince.

We arrived just before six and was greeted by a gentleman in the foyer who directed us to the classroom. There was an option of lift or stairs.

I visited The Classroom with my partner and parents after it being recommended to us. The atmosphere and service were fantastic and the food was exceptional. Perfectly paired flavours and all dishes cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend.

Steak cooked to perfection and the peanut butter mousse is to die for. Exceptional service and an amazing trainee chef called Dylan.
