My friend & I visited on an evening out in Cardiff on the off chance we could get a table. Everything about this wonderful restaurant was perfect: the friendly, warm welcome; the ambience; decor; food, wine & service. High end & a real treat. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Recently enjoyed Sunday lunch at Silures to celebrate wife’s birthday. Party of 5. You walk into the premises past a well stocked and very stylish bar which nicely sets the tone. Food was superb and staff very welcoming, attentive and professional without being intrusive. We selected from the set menu – beef and pork mains, and chose different starters including tomato, potato and quail egg and fishcakes. Liked the fact the chef cooked the beef to individual requests. Sides were served separately (and amply so) and complemented the main dishes very well. The lobster mac and cheese was a very nice additional side. Desserts were also well presented and super tasty. All very enjoyable and beautifully presented. First visit to Silures but hope to return. Thanks very much to all the team for such an enjoyable visit

Where to begin….. This restaurant exceeded our expectation on every front! We decided to try something new in Cardiff for a celebration and we are so glad we did! The food was delicious and portions were generous! But what really set this restaurant apart in my opinion was the service. I’ve never had such a warm welcome as the one I received from Andrew! Instantly I knew we were in for a treat, wine list was extensive with great price range and the ours was one of the nicest bottles I’ve ever had! Terrace is an added bonus where you can have drinks/ a smoke! They have absolutely nailed the balance of fine dining, price, relaxed friendly service and brilliant atmosphere! Thank you for the most amazing evening and for making our night of celebration! Diolch yn fawr, we can’t wait to be back!

My wife and I went for dinner, we were greeted as we arrived and made to feel very welcome. We had a great table and the staff were very attentive. The wine list was well priced for the exceptional wine. The food was incredible. My wife had the half lobster, which was great with the truffle chips, I had the lamb loin and belly, which was the best lamb dish I have ever had in a restaurant. The restaurant team mafe us fell very welcome and we will be back, my new best restaurant in Cardiff

Lovely Sunday lunch with my wife...great location...amazing staff and the food is stunning...Pea and Mint Soup OMG and the Rice Pudding with Rhubarb is soooo good...we sat outside on the balcony..enjoying the hustle and bustle ...Definately to be recommended...Come and try it you won't be disappointed

From the moment we went in nothing was to much trouble. The staff were amazing so helpful really lovely. The food you so good with a great choice and something for everybody’s budget the service was great and the atmosphere was perfect very laid-back, but with an old worldly charm about it. Andrew, who was front of house was such a charming man I made everyone feel special. I cannot recommend this place enough. We chose this place after my sister just received her MBE and as we arrived they presented her with a beautiful card saying congratulations the end of our meal gave her a little cake. I wish everywhere was this thoughtful. Thank you to everyone for making it such a wonderful day .

What a find! Everything about my visit to Silures was faultless from start to finish. The greeting we received when we walked through the door was warm, genuine and welcoming. The decor is lovely- has a cosy yet sophisticated feel to it. The food was just wow!!! The best lamb I’ve eaten in my entire life. Quality ingredients bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. The pea risotto was exquisite too. Drinks menu is extensive and well considered, and service absolutely spot on. Highly recommend this spot to anyone. I will certainly be back when I visit Cardiff next :)

Nearly gave up trying to book a table firstly unable to book far enough in advance for a special occasion, then had problems with the online portal, and finally took 3 phone calls to confirm the reservation. First impressions are very good, with a busy vibrant bar even at 1900 hrs, there was a queue to get in when we left at 2130. The restaurant is upstairs, small compact with a balcony in the Summer. We were shown to our table which unfortunately could have done with a better clean before we were seated. Excellent drinks menu, although a touch expensive. Starters we had Asparagus with Welsh black truffle and Hollandaise sauce, this was a good dish, but the amount of truffle was small and we were unable to taste it. I had the Crispy Pork belly, XO & Kimchi with smoked yoghurt. Again a good dish, well presented, but lacked the flavour to match the presentation. There was little crispness and would have been enhanced with some good crackling to improve texture. Main courses Dryed-aged lamb loin & soy-glazed belly, spring greens and black garlic with thick cut chips. This was an excellent dish highly recommended. Half lobster thermidor, truffle & Spenwood fries a good dish but lacked seasoning, strangely the star of the dish were the fries which were delicious and not the lobster. 180g fillet tournedos, peppercorn sauce, confit roscoff onion with thick cut chips. A disappointing dish, the sauce was sharp, fillet was a bit over cooked and the chips on this and the lamb dish were overcooked verging on burnt and should not have left the kitchen, I should have sent them back. Dessert Almalfi Lemon tart & cre`me fraiche a very good dish Sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel with clotted ice cream, the pudding was delightfully light, with delicious toffee and caramel sauce and ice cream,, such a shame there was just one small scoop ice cream. Finally we were left waiting a long time for the bill with dirty plates in front of us and not offered coffee

Everything from Andrew when go through the door, to the decor, the cocktails, the food is amazing and the service from everyone there is excellent. You have to go and experience it all you wont be disappointed.

Great food, warm welcome & tasty wine list!

We had heard about this place, and finally managed a visit, and we're thrilled with the atmospheric vibe, and the warmth of the furnishings and lighting. A very sumptuous space to socialise and dine. However, we did experience a slow start. Even though our waiter was attentive there was a long delay for drinks to arrive, then the starters - and main course was over half hour after starters finished. However, the menu, the creativity and execution of the dishes are all superb, so very much worth the wait. It's high end, with high prices, but we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Work in front of the entrance at the moment. Opened for 11 months. Beautiful interior red leather seating with tanned brown chairs, dark wall paint and geometry contrast wall Paper. Warm Welcome from the Andrew who met previously at milkwood. Nice table for two, comfortable seating. Nice marble top with art deco lighting lamp. Solo dining Ordered three starters with the oysters so they all came out at the same time- Oysters- twist of Bloody Mary was good. Oyster were on the smaller side Beef tartar was good but under seasoned- could do with something with a flavour as was blend, had to use salt and pepper to season. Hispi cabbage was excellent- creamy Sauce , nicely charred , lovely crispy greens and fried onion on the top - one of the best I’ve had. The crab risotto is really a take on a arancini was good -Could be better salted again. Green sauce was blend but the inner of the arancini was very good. The pork belly was very good but unfortunately as I had asked them to hold on to it so I could finish the other starters , was dry when I had it . Boulevardier cocktail was good as was the Tommy’s Margarita was good - tasted like any other margarita and was well made. Good size sticky toffee with vanilla ice real Sauce rather too sweet- could be toned down somewhat on the sweetness. Service was very attentive and good with a 12.5% services charge.

Andrew greeted us & seated us in the bar area whilst we were waiting for friends. He was so welcoming & attentive. Ambience is wonderful. The food was simply perfect! The cocktails & wines were fab. Andrew arranged our taxis and led us to them, wishing us a safe journey home! Wow! An excellent experience! Highly recommend.

Had the Sunday roast there for the first time. Best one I had in a long time. Very good and tender meat, sides were excellent. I also loved the Welsh charcuterie, top quality. Service was great as usual!

We really enjoyed our evening at Silures and recommend it highly. The welcome and the service were friendly, efficient and professional. The menu offers a good choice of delicious dishes. The wine list is inviting with a varied choice of wine for all. We both ate vegan and it was delicious, but we could have eaten great steak or Gurnard if we had wanted. We are definitely coming again.

Every course we had was superb! Quality produce cooked to perfection. Scallops, Oysters, Lobster Thermidor and Steak were delicious. A fabulous birthday celebration, excellent service! Lovely ambience. If you are lucky enough to get a table go and enjoy. We cannot wait to return!!!

To watch the staff go above and beyond with a sweet elderly couple, opening the door for them and putting up their umbrella, and another lovely customer having help with her coat and made to feel special. Just a joy to see service from the heart, I wouldn't have worried if the food hadn't been great, but it was fresh, tasted gorgeous and presented perfectly. Definitely a return visit planned. 5 stars plus

Firstly extra special mention for Andrew-showing everyone how to do front of house to perfection!-so accommodating, welcoming and said hello to every single person arriving and opened the door for every single person leaving-even the teenagers that popped their cv’s in. He made it a particularly special experience. The food was wonderful-really delicious-timings were perfect, decor and ambience couldn’t have been better and true 5 star service like top London restaurants. Our glasses were consistently re filled. The best service we have experienced. Very reasonable prices all things considered too. They also manage to strike a very tricky balance between up market and family friendly. Thank you and we can’t wait to return!

Outstanding from beginning to end. From easy booking, to the extra friendly welcome and farewell from Andrew, drinks at their perfect temperatures, exquisite varied menu, excellent execution and service. It really was faultless, and we look forward to returning. It’s not cheap, but once you’ve visited, you will understand that it shouldn’t be; the quality of the ingredients, the ambience and the attentive service level is premium too. Recommend by ABnB super host as an elegant dining experience. Booked a table for 18:00 . Arrived for a birthday celebration meal with my partner Dee. Service was above and beyond . Courtesy and knowledge about the food and wine were extremely impressive. Starters were served with a house red from a wide selection of wines . Main course for me was the fish ( fresh hake from that morning.) and it was incredible. Deserts served with a chilled , crisp Sauternes. Felt very relaxed and comfortable throughout. The bill was what it was but the experience was priceless. Thank you all very much for a wonderful evening .

My family and I have had a lovely dinner and lunch at the restaurant. On both occasions the food was delicious. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We’ll definitely be back to indulge in more gastronomical delights again especially the cote de boeuf sharing steak! It was so good!

The food was lovely but unfortunately the service was very slow and poor. Our booking was for 8.30 and we arrived at 8.15 hoping to get a cocktail at the bar first. We were immediately taken to a table in the bar area and told our table wouldn’t be too long, we weren’t in any rush so not a problem. Drinks menus were brought to us but no-one came to take our order - we were told three times unprompted that our table was nearly ready and we could order drinks upstairs. At 8.30 we went to our table. The waiter gave us water and menus and didn’t return to take our order until 8.55 so for 40 mins we’d had nothing but water, hardly a good start to a birthday meal. We tried to get the waiter’s attention but we just felt ignored. Our starters finally arrived at 9.30 and our mains arrived at 10pm. It was obviously a busy evening but at no point was an apology or explanation given as to the slowness of the service. We left without having dessert because by that time we were all tired and fed up. The food was lovely but the service severely let down the experience.

Popped in for a spot of lunch and a glass of wine. An absolutely lovely environment to be in with cheerful staff and excellent decor. The steak sandwich was to die for, tender beef and sweet caramelised onions, all lightly smothered in a little bit of zingy mustard. The truffle fries were addictive, with a generous dusting of truffle and spenwood cheese. Paired with a smooth glass of Chablis (I know white wine with steak - shoot me) I really was in heaven. Silures is definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for a high-class yet relaxed culinary experience at reasonable prices.

Overall very disappointing. The food was horrendously overpriced for what it was. Waiting time was excessively long. A very expensive and average experience.

Gift voucher from our son brightened up a slow start to 2024. Loved the Lamb starter, fillet steak was to die for and the Pino Grigio took us back to Venice. Planning a Sunday lunch soon. First class service from the staff, Andrew made us feel at home from the off to leaving.

Sunday lunch is amazing and there is a children’s menu for those little people that done want Sunday lunch! Welcomed with a warm greeting each time and made to feel very special. An absolutely incredible evening at Silures. One of the best meals I have ever had dining out, with delicious cocktails before and after our food. Silures adds a touch of class and character to everything, from the food & drink to it's a decor, and there was a real sense of aliveness to it's atmosphere to accompany the wonderful service. A beautifully executed modern Independent dining concept. A fantastic balance of traditional and contemporary in this wonderful fine dining experience. An Incredibly well thought out menu providing exquisite dishes that are well executed and presented beautifully by chefs who obviously care about their craft, delivered with finesse and impeccable service from the knowledgeable front of house team. The wine list only compliments the food without being set at an unreasonable price, and the cocktails are creative yet modest and certainly intended for those with a refined palette so naturally lend themselves to be paired equally with the meal. It's not often I say a meal is perfect but I feel this was certainly close. An incredible addition to the Cardiff area and if I'm honest is much better quality and value when compared to others out there.

Arguable the best restaurant we have been to in Cardiff. The staff were some of the best we have experienced and the food was second to none. It has a lovely ambiance and you can tell a lot of thought had gone in to the decor. As someone who is coeliac, eating gluten free here was no problem, most dishes could be adapted for me. Will certainly be back soon and hope to bring our friends and family to enjoy it with us next time

I dream of this place, but the tragic fact is that we live hundreds of miles away. So if you live within 2 hours of this place you need to book in and try it for yourself. You will not be disappointed!! Why? Because not only is their menu delicious, interesting and varied - and you can also have a glass of one of the world's most expensive champagnes for approximately just £30! This is because they have invested in a fabulous and rare contraption (a Coravin) that reseals the bottle. How amazing is that!! You would be very hard pressed to find that kind of option and excitement anywhere else!!! Anyway, I digress...one of the main reasons (that is, apart from fantastic food, divine wine and cocktails...) you will enjoy yourself here is because the staff - Andy, Daff, Jack, I love you - do everything within their power to ensure you do. It matters to them personally that you enjoy yourself and the feeling that interest and ambiance gives you is sublime and warming. I wish I could name everyone who added to the wonderful experience, but some just passed us with a smile and/or a squeeze of the shoulder. Thank you all so much guys. You infused such happiness, kindness and affection into our stay in Cardiff. We will be back as soon as we can - and if you are reading this to decide where to eat, stop immediately - and go and get your coat!! X

We visited this evening to celebrate my wife's birthday. I often see "dining experience" used in restaurant marketing and think little of it but have to say the service we enjoyed this evening was exceptional. From the moment we were greated at the door we had high expectation and I am pleased to say this was indeed a restaurant that exceeded my expectations. The food was delishious and we are very much looking forward to another visit in the New Year. Well done team Silures!

To call this a brilliant neighbourhood spot somehow doesn't do Silures justice. Occupying a buzzy site on Wellfield road, the atmosphere is vibrant and sophisticated. Service was perfect - attentive without being overbearing. But the standout was the food - every dish prepared with attention to detail and a point of difference. Delicious and creative cooking that we will definitely return for. A seriously good foodie venue.

We visited yesterday for Sunday lunch (6 of us plus a toddler) and it was absolutely unreal. We felt so looked after by both the host and the sever. The food was honestly exquisite and such good value for money. We live around the corner so I’m sure we will be back often!

Tremendous food and excellent service, all 6 of us were very impressed. One quibble - I didn't realise (my fault maybe?) that a service charge of 10% was automatically added to the bill and I added 10% cash when paying, thus paying 20% altogether.

The menu had plenty of choice, and great gluten free options with staff having good knowledge of cross contamination and able to amend most meals to make them gluten free. We loved everything we tried and will be back!
