Silures in Cardiff

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Silures in Cardiff, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles from the staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was cosy and inviting, creating the perfect atmosphere for a delightful meal. Speaking of the meal, the food at Silures truly exceeded my expectations. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was a masterpiece, bursting with flavours that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The menu offered a wide range of options, ensuring there was something to satisfy every palate. What impressed me even more was the reasonable prices for such high-quality cuisine. It's not often you find a restaurant that offers such a fantastic dining experience at such affordable prices. The staff at Silures played a significant role in making my visit memorable. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their craft. Their friendly and accommodating nature made me feel right at home, and their recommendations were spot-on. I simply cannot speak highly enough about Silures. If you're looking for a restaurant that combines delicious food, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere, then look no further. Silures is the place to be. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

This is the second time we have been to Silures and couldn’t recommend it enough. The staff are lovely and the food is wonderful (highly recommend the fried sourdough to start). I booked a table outside in the courtyard for my partners birthday. It was a lovely setting with the shade of the large parasol. We had more than enough space for ourselves and our pram. The baby changing facilities are very good with a padded cushion to go on top of the baby change table which was a nice touch.

When you first enter Silures, it feels like an elevated pub but lo and behold, you will soon be transported to a fantastic, mouthwatering and well curated dining experience when you ascend the stairs. Never one to shy away from an expensive menu, I did find some of the entrées to be a bit overpriced. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal, including the soft lighting and intimate decor on the first floor. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Cardiff.

Great just great, food excellent, drinks good, it was busy I the restaurant but didn't seem to make any difference to the quality or the service

Outstanding food, a delightful drinks selection, attentive and thoughtful service and genuinely the best decor in Cardiff and dare I say Bristol. From the handling of our booking with Jordan, to the service of owner Andre and the excellent cocktails by Claudio, the team are top-notch and I can see why they have a core of regulars. I was feeling baller so I went for oysters and a Bloody Mary to start, we had the sirloin and belly pork respectively, and finished up with the clotted ice cream and the torte. No notes on the food and the wines by the glass were thoughtfully curated - as was the spirit selection. We had a bit of everything from the drinks list including a custom, and the cocktails were on a par with any of the mainline bars in Wales and the southwest. Overall I can't recommend it highly enough and although we ended up dropping a wedge you could still have a fantastic experience without breaking the bank. Will be back.

Can't complain about the food here, it was tasty, when we eventually got it. Booked a table for 7.30 on a Saturday evening. We were told it would be a few minutes until our table was ready. We were seated at 7.50. The waiting staff were friendly but we had to ask for the wine list after a further 10 mins. Starters were served at 8.50 by which point we were absolutely starving. There was no explanation, no offer of a nibble to keep us going. Mains arrived at 10pm but by then we were almost past our hunger. I'd heard so many great things about this restaurant and was really looking forward to trying it but overall it was a disappointment. Given the great reviews I assume this was just a bad night. Bad nights happen but great restaurants acknowledge them and compensate their customers accordingly. Unfortunately Silures didn't and for that reason I probably won't be back.

Utterly enjoyed dining at Silures in Cardiff last night. The interior design, furnishings and artistic decorations are wonderfully stylish to provide a classic setting for a romantic date. Proper cocktails! The lovely, delicious food met our expectations to look at, taste and savour between sips of well suggested wines. We both had starters, mains and desserts. Service was attentive and we felt pampered. Thank you especially to Freddie for including the Brandy Alexandra and Irish coffees at the end. 5 stars for a brilliant experience.

The food was lovely—refined, creative, and clearly crafted with care. The menu felt sophisticated, and the wine selection was great too. One area for improvement would be the service. It felt a bit fragmented, with multiple staff members attending to us at different points, but without a clear sense of continuity or ownership of the overall experience. This led to a slightly disjointed feel. When we asked for a recommendation, the waiter mentioned he was vegetarian and couldn’t comment on the menu. While understandable, it would be more helpful if staff were familiar with the dishes overall and could suggest popular or guest-favorite options regardless of their personal preferences. There’s definitely potential here, and with a bit more polish on the service side, the overall experience could be exceptional. That said, we really enjoyed the food

Family party, food very small portions, waited 2 hours for food and when it came was not complete such as had to wait for chips etc. For the price you would expect more for your money. We arrived on time.

Absolutely outstanding, from the moment we arrived to us saying goodbye. We hadn't booked. However, they managed to fit both of us in for dinner, which was superb. This restaurant is one of two places I have eaten where I can honestly say the quality of the food is excellent along with the service. We were looked after by a wonderful young man called Tom, whose attention to detail was second to none. Going with his recommendation of the lamb and chicken as mains, limoncello cheescake, and a rhubarb desert finishing off with Irish coffees was definitely a hit with us both. His manner was exemplary throughout where we needed for nothing. This was also noticeable with other tables as he went the extra mile for all he served, something which really impressed us. The decor, ambience, and experience would suggest that this restaurant is in line for a Michelin Star, something I would definitely recommend. It was a wonderful evening that we look forward to experiencing in the non too distant future. When in Cardiff, give it a try, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Sunday lunch, let's just say go there you will not be disappointed.

First time last night with friends and food was to die for, had soup to start followed my fish and to finish off cheese, waiting staff were always at hand for topping up your wine glass and any other issues that you my need them for, will be going back again and will try there Cardiff city centre restaurant.

A slice of fatty beef,a quarter of a carrot and parsnip,small amount of cabbage,a lovely Yorkshire lush gravy. When our plates were served he dropped them down not placed on the table,the maitre de was very welcoming

Genuinely fantastic. It's on the pricier end for Cardiff but the whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Service was polite and efficient, food was delicious and unique and the decor was cosy and intimate. Great job to all the team here.

Ate here using the January discount. I had the steak which was delicious. Service was ok but a little slow. Very friendly staff. Dessert was too sweet to finish. We enjoyed the meal.

Food was absolutely amazing, genuinely put it in my top 5 meals ever. The sourdough sharer was outstanding, the mains and sides were superb (particularly recommend the honey-glazed carrots, they were phenomenal with the tamari seeds). Service was also 10/10, greeting at the door and super attentive throughout. The ONLY reason this isn’t 5/5 is because we went assuming there was 30% off in January but didn’t realise you had to enter a discount code when booking (wasn’t obvious, it was just a pop up on the site which I’ve attached). That said, it was well worth the money and this is more out of principle than anything else.

Visited Silures for a Saturday lunch with my parents as I’m always walking past it, as it’s by my home. We were pleasantly welcomed in to the beautiful interior, friendly service and luxurious atmosphere. We opted for the charcuterie and bread and oil to start with. I had the crab and crayfish linguine and my parents had the beef burger with truffle fries. I will absolutely be returning to try their Sunday roast.

I loved Silures! Their food is like heaven! We went there for dinner and were blown away by the food and wine choices as well as service and the ambient of the place. It’s a perfect restaurant for a date night or a grup celebration. The menu has a variety of choices: veggie, fish, meat - all cooked to perfection. Their desserts are also wonderful! We had a selection of starters, the burrata was fantastic, and sole & cauliflower steak for mains, paired with a gorgeous red recommended by the owner who looked after us throughout the evening. For my dessert I had a lemon tart and just loved it! All in all, this place is definitely a go-to when in Cardiff, we will 100% be back on our next visit in town (after all it’s only 2hrs train journey away from London 😁) Thank you team Silures for looking after us & see you soon!

Wow, what an incredible evening at Silures! The service was impeccable and of a very high standard, which made the whole experience even more special. The food was incredible! We had the bluefin tuna tartare and chicken parfait to start, both very delicious and some of the best parfait and tartare we have ever had. For mains we had the game pie with truffle mash...yum! And the roasted halibut which was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back!

This is one of the top restaurants in Cardiff. Me and my partner booked this restaurant as we like to explore new dishes and this place did not disappoint. We went for a la carte dinner. Everything exceeded our expectations. Ideal for date night. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

Best Sunday roast in Cardiff. This was the second time we’ve visited for Sunday lunch and the food was delicious as always. We had the sourdough bread, olives and fish cake to start, vegetarian mains and clotted ice cream and honeycomb for dessert. The service is always impeccable. Andrew kindly showed us to our table and took our coats and the staff are friendly and attentive but not overbearing. It always feels like a special place to dine and is hands down our favourite place to eat/drink in the area.

What a surprise Silures was at first glance a totally unassuming restaurant on a high street on the outskirts of Cardiff. As we approached the door opened and a gentlemen guided a family out as we entered there was a real bustle to the lobby lots of customers addresding the team by their first names, this felt cosy, friendly, popular, with the most personable of approaches to service all the while. We came for a hearty Sunday lunch oh and to catch up with family. The food was if the highest order, service to match. It appeared the senior group in the back were the rowdy crowd enjoying every moment they alone created a fabulous atmosphere. I think you could have fun here on any afternoon or evening. If you are deciding if you should visit this restaurant by reading a few reviews first there is a simple answer to your question .... yes book now! I took my girlfriend here for her 23rd birthday and it was amazing! Really intimate and welcoming restaurant the service was the best I’ve experienced in a long time! A birthday card and cake and throughout the night all the staff were amazing! Would definitely come back again.

Exquisite in all respects, food, service, wine, everything. Not cheap but that's not the point.

Food and service were excellent. Our table was right at the very back of house so felt a little bit removed from the atmosphere of the place, which was really buzzy in the main area and bar. Thoroughly enjoyed still and the Oysters were top quality.

I recently visited Silures, for a Sunday roast, and it was a delightful experience. From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a perfect meal. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about their service. The Sunday roast itself was delicious - beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the presentation to the taste. Silures clearly takes pride in providing a high-quality dining experience. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional Sunday roast done to perfection!

Sat upstairs and we were on our own for 30 mins so lacked a bit of atmosphere. Booked for 6 pm but not served till 7 pm so a tad long. The waiter was on his own. The fillet was well cooked, the garlic butter sauce was weak and it was served with a whole onion which is a bit odd. The creamy potato was excellent. The dover sole was a tad over but delicious albeit greasy due to the sauce. The green bean side was also greasy. The miso cauliflower was the star, it was delicious. The mushroom side was very ordinary. Keep in mind no mains come with sides apart from the beef burger. The rice pudding was good. The flat white was luke warm which is a shame. Glass of rioja was good and the glass of unoaked Chardonnay was really lovely. 2 half beers, 1 coke, 2 glasses of wine, no starters, 3 mains, 3 sides and 1 dessert came to £193 including 12.5% tip.

Delicious Sunday lunch - meat was especially high quality. Sirloin beef was succulent and others from our group loved the pork belly. The crackling was great. Huge Yorkshire Pudding was tasty too. Service was good, not too rushed. It is a bit pricey, especially for drinks.

Now my top restaurant in Cardiff! The food was exceptional, showcasing incredible flavors and quality—definitely a ten out of ten. The attention to detail was impressive, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The ambiance, complemented by soothing jazz music, made for a perfect evening. I can't wait to return again and again. If you haven’t tried this gem yet, you’re missing out!

Celebrated my baby shower here today with friends and the team were completely excellent - super attentive but also allowed us to take our time and enjoy the day. Food (Sunday lunch) was delicious and venue surroundings beautiful. Couldn’t recommend enough!

From the moment we walked through the door we had the most amazing 5* experiance.. The lovely gentlemen in his fabulous suit was very friendly and welcoming.. We sat and had a quiet drink before being seated.. Really enjoyed the sassy rose cider and the strawberry daiquiri We were looked after by the most attentive polite man (im so sorry I cant remember his name).. He was chatty and friendly.. Our food was amazing.. Presented beautifully and tasted superb.. We both went for the same things on the menu and we both enjoyed every mouthful.. We started with the king Prawn.. For main course we couldnt pass on the fillet steak which was cooked perfectly👌we also had the thick cut chips.. Macaroni cheese with Truffle and the mushrooms all absolutely delicious.. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding.. everything about our evening at Silures was just perfect.. Will definitely return.. Thank You

Managed to get a table on a Friday evening without a reservation. Attentive service, very good food near fine dining experience, premises a little claustrophobic, but recommended

What a place! My friend and I found this place last week on our trip to Wales. The Sunday roast was outstanding. Locally sourced products and very well cooked food. One of the best roasts I ever had. Also to mentioned the design of the restaurant and professional service ( I think our waiters name was Robert/ sorry if I am wrong ) was really great. Definitely I will be coming back

We've only had drinks here and we keep going back because this place is the BEST!!! From the second you walk in the door Andrew makes you feel like you are coming home. The way he warmly welcomes you is like you've known each other for years. We have had two bartenders Amy and Max and they are both brilliant! When Amy was our bartender I wasn't sure what I wanted but described what I liked and the drink she made me had poppy liqueur in it, which I had never heard of, and it was balanced and delicious. When Max was our bartender I knew I wanted a Rye Manhattan and it was THE BEST one I've ever had! I am sad to be leaving Cardiff and this gem of a place and we will definitely be back!!!

Service was absolutely amazing. So friendly and attentive. Food was ok but not really in line with the prices charged. Unfortunately (and this isn’t the restaurant’s fault) we were seated very near a family with two young kids who were playing Uno and generally being a family with two young kids! Which would be absolutely fine in a Harvester or Pizza Hut, but the vibe here was definitely more grown-up and special.

We booked for Sunday roast while visiting Cardiff. Food,service everything was fantastic. We had even little chat with one of the owners Andrei, telling us the story behind the concept, what a great guy. We had great time and definitely worth visiting. Our waiter Robert was exceptional, chef must be Michelin star, he did really great job. The roast was outstanding!

The atmosphere was exceptional, and the service matched the high quality of the food. Everything was flawless. Our waiter was attentive, courteous, and efficient throughout the meal.

Recently enjoyed Sunday lunch at Silures to celebrate wife’s birthday. Party of 5. You walk into the premises past a well stocked and very stylish bar which nicely sets the tone. Food was superb and staff very welcoming, attentive and professional without being intrusive. We selected from the set menu – beef and pork mains, and chose different starters including tomato, potato and quail egg and fishcakes. Liked the fact the chef cooked the beef to individual requests. Sides were served separately (and amply so) and complemented the main dishes very well. The lobster mac and cheese was a very nice additional side. Desserts were also well presented and super tasty. All very enjoyable and beautifully presented. First visit to Silures but hope to return. Thanks very much to all the team for such an enjoyable visit

Food was delicious Staff very friendly and kind We've been there with 3 children and they loved it too ( the youngest one ever asked " when we're going to eat here again" ) 😊

Fabulous evening at Silures. Food , service and ambience all to get excited about. Our first but not last visit.

Where to begin….. This restaurant exceeded our expectation on every front! We decided to try something new in Cardiff for a celebration and we are so glad we did! The food was delicious and portions were generous! But what really set this restaurant apart in my opinion was the service. I’ve never had such a warm welcome as the one I received from Andrew! Instantly I knew we were in for a treat, wine list was extensive with great price range and the ours was one of the nicest bottles I’ve ever had! Terrace is an added bonus where you can have drinks/ a smoke! They have absolutely nailed the balance of fine dining, price, relaxed friendly service and brilliant atmosphere! Thank you for the most amazing evening and for making our night of celebration! Diolch yn fawr, we can’t wait to be back!

My wife and I went for dinner, we were greeted as we arrived and made to feel very welcome. We had a great table and the staff were very attentive. The wine list was well priced for the exceptional wine. The food was incredible. My wife had the half lobster, which was great with the truffle chips, I had the lamb loin and belly, which was the best lamb dish I have ever had in a restaurant. The restaurant team mafe us fell very welcome and we will be back, my new best restaurant in Cardiff

Lovely Sunday lunch with my wife...great location...amazing staff and the food is stunning...Pea and Mint Soup OMG and the Rice Pudding with Rhubarb is soooo good...we sat outside on the balcony..enjoying the hustle and bustle ...Definately to be recommended...Come and try it you won't be disappointed

Lovely lunchtime menu with the choice of sitting out in the enclosed garden terrace. Service was excellent and the food served was amazing. A very special place for lunch or dinner. Highly recommended

First time here, oh my god absolutely fantastic place, from the moment we walked in we were looked after impeccably, great service and the food was outstanding.

From the moment we went in nothing was to much trouble. The staff were amazing so helpful really lovely. The food you so good with a great choice and something for everybody’s budget the service was great and the atmosphere was perfect very laid-back, but with an old worldly charm about it. Andrew, who was front of house was such a charming man I made everyone feel special. I cannot recommend this place enough. We chose this place after my sister just received her MBE and as we arrived they presented her with a beautiful card saying congratulations the end of our meal gave her a little cake. I wish everywhere was this thoughtful. Thank you to everyone for making it such a wonderful day .

What a find! Everything about my visit to Silures was faultless from start to finish. The greeting we received when we walked through the door was warm, genuine and welcoming. The decor is lovely- has a cosy yet sophisticated feel to it. The food was just wow!!! The best lamb I’ve eaten in my entire life. Quality ingredients bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. The pea risotto was exquisite too. Drinks menu is extensive and well considered, and service absolutely spot on. Highly recommend this spot to anyone. I will certainly be back when I visit Cardiff next :)

Nearly gave up trying to book a table firstly unable to book far enough in advance for a special occasion, then had problems with the online portal, and finally took 3 phone calls to confirm the reservation. First impressions are very good, with a busy vibrant bar even at 1900 hrs, there was a queue to get in when we left at 2130. The restaurant is upstairs, small compact with a balcony in the Summer. We were shown to our table which unfortunately could have done with a better clean before we were seated. Excellent drinks menu, although a touch expensive. Starters we had Asparagus with Welsh black truffle and Hollandaise sauce, this was a good dish, but the amount of truffle was small and we were unable to taste it. I had the Crispy Pork belly, XO & Kimchi with smoked yoghurt. Again a good dish, well presented, but lacked the flavour to match the presentation. There was little crispness and would have been enhanced with some good crackling to improve texture. Main courses Dryed-aged lamb loin & soy-glazed belly, spring greens and black garlic with thick cut chips. This was an excellent dish highly recommended. Half lobster thermidor, truffle & Spenwood fries a good dish but lacked seasoning, strangely the star of the dish were the fries which were delicious and not the lobster. 180g fillet tournedos, peppercorn sauce, confit roscoff onion with thick cut chips. A disappointing dish, the sauce was sharp, fillet was a bit over cooked and the chips on this and the lamb dish were overcooked verging on burnt and should not have left the kitchen, I should have sent them back. Dessert Almalfi Lemon tart & cre`me fraiche a very good dish Sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel with clotted ice cream, the pudding was delightfully light, with delicious toffee and caramel sauce and ice cream,, such a shame there was just one small scoop ice cream. Finally we were left waiting a long time for the bill with dirty plates in front of us and not offered coffee
