This was not our first visit, unfortunatly we were not impressed this time,I could not fault food at all. We ordered the beef and requested horseradish sauce, they had run out!! we then ordered coffee which was only instant coffee, the coffee machine was out of order,we were,nt informed of this until it arrived, and was presented with 1/4 of a tea spoon of suger, and was told thats all they had, after complaining that we could not drink it like that some was found. We found the pub very cold to the point of being uncomfortable. Very disappointing.

I would 100% recommend the food here! There was a party of 15 people and every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed every meal! Highly recommend the ribeye Steak it was delicious and cooked to perfection! The burgers (chicken and beef) were so juicy and melted in your mouth. All meals were cooked perfectly and can’t wait to come and visit again! The chef did an outstanding job 👨🍳 and the desserts and a must! 🤤 The staff there was very accommodating and welcoming and they were more than happy to help with anything! Warm, friendly atmosphere. 11/10

first time here and when the five of us arrived we were the only ones there which surprised us as it was early afternoon. As we live quite locally we will be back as often as we can. Thank you all for a brilliant afternoon

Pre booked Sunday lunch Couldn’t get a drink for ages due to people picking up take aways who seemed to be put before anyone else . Most basic Prawn cocktail , just one small lettuce leaf with prawns and some very watery mArie rose sauce and nothing else. (Very bland) Main course was nice, veg a bit on tepid side but taste was good Desserts overpriced Staff were pleasant Wouldn’t rush back

Was looking for a pub that served good food but was within walking distance of Blackwood and was fortunate to get a table at The Church Inn. After our 2.5 mile trek in the blistering sun, the newly refurbished pub and beer garden was like an oasis in the desert...well valleys! We liked the streamlined Sunday Lunch menu, which was delicious. We both had beef roast which was tasty with a selection of veg and ample gravy. The jalapeno dipped to start were hot...but tasty. Staff were attentive and courteous. Food was prompt and drinks sated our sun baked thirst. Will definitely revisit as the pub had welcome vibe and food/drink super. Thank you.

I visited here with my partner this evening and had an overall better experience than I was expecting. The alcohol we ordered was served in its respective branded glasses as it should be, which was nice as you don't get that everywhere and it makes a difference. We both ate and generally enjoyed our meals. The chicken supreme was really good - the chicken was off the bone as per the known recipe, it was cooked really well, and of good quality. However the chips my partner had to accompany her meal were not the best, I found them gristly and greasy. The staff are fairly inexperienced at the moment but are trying hard to please customers which is appreciated. The evening menu is fairly limited - roughly 8-10 options. The pub has been refurbished really well and is generally of a clean standard. I do plan on returning to give the Sunday roast a go. All-in-all very good.

It's the first time I have visited the Inn since the new management took over and I was very impressed with the look of the place. It is much cleaner and brighter without spoiling the traditional look of the place. The furniture and bar has a nice smell of polish. We had booked a lunch time meal. The tables all had vases with fresh flowers on them and slate place mats. The landlord was very polite and informative of future plans for the Inn if he had the local support from the community in using the Inn. The food was very well presented and it tasted delicious

We walked 40 minutes uphill in the rain to get to this beautifully placed pub with stunning views - so we had worked up a hunger and our expectations were high. Sadly the food was average, being in Wales I chose the lamb which were 2 small overcooked chops. My husband had the steak which was also overdone. However, the place was rammed and appeared very popular so we were probably just unlucky. It did serve a decent pint too.

The pub from outside has lovely views looking over the Vally’s, the building looks oldie and has charm from outside, but in side no charm, it’ looks like the seating has been referbed not fire place or anything to indicate it’s age. If you like cosy farmers pubs with an old worldy theme this is the place for you. It's set in a farming village next to a church. Parking is available at the rear of the inn on a very steep hill so if you have anyone with walking difficulties try and get a space round the front. The bar is tiny so drinks are limited, I woulnt recommend the cocktails as you don't get much for your money not even a fancy glass and pop is not from a pump it's poured from a bottle. The atmosphere is lovely though. Food is available in the restaurant and bar I would recommend booking a table for larger parties and at peak times. Food is homemade, very generous, delicious and great value for money. There is also a juke box and a pool table, dartboard and tv available. I think to some though this pub maybe an acquired taste but I love it.

Visited the Church Inn last Friday evening for a meal with friends. It's in a really beautiful location, up the lanes and right next to an old church. The views from up there are amazing, I could see lights sparkling from so many villages, this would be an amazing location for a drink in the summer as there are benches outside. The car park is a bit of a squeeze to get in, you drive behind the pub between two buildings but it's fine if you're careful. The pub itself is very oldy worldy, the decor inside pretty dated but comfortable and clean. We sat in the dining room for our food which has windows overlooking the stunning view. It is quite small though. I ordered veggie lasagna, the options for vegetarians are quite limited and revolve around cheese a lot. The meat lovers however were spoilt with massive platters for steaks and mixed grills, I'm not sure how anyone can eat so much but if that's your thing I'm sure you won't be disappointed. My food was nice enough but nothing special, could have done with being cooked just a little bit longer. There was a massive cheesecake for afters, it was huge with really thick cheese topping. Would recommend it. I'd be happy to go back again, even if it were just for a drink.

went up there for a meal and was absolutely horrified at how disgusting it was, I've never tasted such greasy food in my entire life. As I was waiting in the bar to be called in for my meal, the attitude of the bar maid was absolutely appalling towards other customers and staff, I have never met a women so rude. I heard many people talking amongst them about how rude she was, she has no manners what so ever and I can imagine her loosing the pub so many customers. It was such a let down as I am not from the area and I travelled here after reading on this website good reviews, my son also went into the men's toilets and read a very inappropriate sign on the wall which he asked me what it meant. other than this the waitresses are probably the only nice staff there.

Myself and my family reserved a table for Sunday lunch. What a lovely pub; bustling with people, at a guess both locals and new visitors. The food was absolutely delicious and the closest I have ever witnessed to home cooking. The serving staff were practically running to serve the many tables, this told me that the food was much in demand and because of the consistency, it was fresh. For £7.95 per head, it is not worth shopping for provisions, cooking and then having to do all of the dishes afterwards. I would highly recommend this establishment to families, youths and well.........everyone. Thank you so much for a delicious meal.

I went to the restaurant with my Wife and two children last night, the food was of a good standard but the building is very dated inside and needs a good refurbish. We left our car in the car park and got a taxi home, when i returned this morning to collect my car there was a bag of rubbish on the bonnet of my BMW with various contents including McDonalds. I put the bag on the floor and wondered where it had come from. The owner of the restaurant came out and told me to take my rubbish home. I instantly informed her it was certainly not my rubbish, she responded that it must have been because it was around my car. It became clear she had got up and found the rubbish and come to the assumption it was mine, she collected it all in a black bag and put it on my bonnet and accused me of littering her premises. No matter what I said, she continued to accuse me of leaving my rubbish in her car park. We left the restaurant at 22:00 with our 8 & 4 year old children, I certainly did not leave this behind!!! We decided to book a table in this little pub from checking out the reviews on tripadvisor.Im so glad we did, The food was AMAZING, my husband had the mixed grill, it was huge and came on a oval plate that was the size of a food tray, I had the sirloin steak, it was cooked to perfection, we ordered some sides with included a peppercorn sauce, thats when things changed !! The sauce did not taste like peppercorn and it wasnt homemade , I make my own sauces and know they have to be made with cremefraish or fresh cream, that i must say was the only thing that let the meal down. The pub itself is very quaint and quirky. It felt very homely there, we loved the views of the valley below us, and the dinning room felt very cosy. The meals are reasonably priced, and so are the drinks, Its a little haven tucked away in the mountain. We will definately be back to this lovely little pub. The Church Inn is a lovely little pub in the countryside with fabulous views. There was a very varied menu and you can have bar food or sit down to a full meal in the dining room. The bar is only very small but lovely and it's not modern in decor but this adds to the charm. The dining room is only small too only fitting about 24 people but we booked Ahead so we were guaranteed a table. They only serve food after half 5 in the evening so bare this in mind. The staff were very nice as were the locals. Food was served very promptly and the portions were huge so none of us had dessert so cannot comment on them. Food was really delicious. Benches and tables outside to take in the fantastic view, which goes on for miles and miles. Very tranquil, lets you forget your troubles and have a peaceful time. If you want a meal, they are served in the bar or in a small restaurant, which has lovely views. Food always good and plenty on the plate, for seated meal and bar snacks. to be honest one of the worst times I've ever had in a pub. where do I start? the restaurant, has about 15 seats in room no bigger than 25 ft by 15. and we had a single table stick in a corner were you had no elbow room against the wall and the doors to the kitchen behind the other seat. we had a starter and within 30 seconds of finishing our starter the main had come out, they took away the starter plate and brought me in the main almost at the same time! then I could not order drinks from the restaurant so just as my food come I had to go and queue at the bar for about 5 mins which made my food go cold, then the waiters were going around taking individual plates at a time leaving some people eating at the table and some without a plate! they asked me if I was finished when others was still eating at my table & I had both my knife And forks on the side of my plate to clearly show I wasn't finished. the chips were under cooked, the garlic chicken was dry and the sauce didn't even taste like garlic! so overall disappointing & wouldn't recommend for anyone who wants a peaceful meal out.

Whilst looking on the www for somewhere new to eat i found this place and boy i'm glad i did! It's small really out of the way pub with a dining area of seating maybe 20 people max but well worth getting to if you can just to taste those superb tender steaks with real chips that are cooked simply to perfection, oh yes! It's not much to look at inside, an ordinary country pub, perhaps could do with little redecorating but it seems clean enough, SA on draft which really suits my taste for beer. The small dining room has a view that is quite dramatic day or night looking right across the valley for miles. What's to see ast night you may well ask...it's the light of the nearby populated areas looking down and across the valley from the pub dining room and i daresay during the day it's even better. Look here now, never mind ny babbling on just get in your car or on your bike and go there to eat, i feel you won't regret it if you like steak & home made chips. How much? 14oz sirlon cooked divinely along with chips, side sald & mushrooms just over £14, yum, yum.

Basic even though the menu is very large. The steak was well done although i ordered it when asked at the bar as medium rare, the chips were a very small portion. Quite expensive for 3 starters, 3 mains & 3 desserts with 6 soft drinks coming in at over £85. Odd parking which you have to pay for then get refunded one you've bought a drink or meal in the pub, plenty of parking though is available. Roomy inside & comfortable, clean toilets.

Called in here on the off chance and we was greeted by the 2 lovley owners Tony and Lowrie, and really pleasant bar staff. Really welcoming and nothing you ask is too much. A lovley old pub with a warm homely feel. My children were made to feel really welcome and the pub is also dog friendly. The pub has a lovley size beer garden outfront and a park the kids could play in. And because it was evening time the garden was lit up with all the lovley lights. The food was amazing and a nice varied menu to choose from. Prices were fair aswell tbh. They have a large screen and a few tvs dotted around which they show sky sports from and they said they do different things for the children at different times like halloween time etc. All in all a lovley few hours out. Will defo be going back. Thank you Lowrie, Tony and team.

The best breakfast I've had in a long time. The added bonus was that I caught a glimpse of the red headed hottie walking upstairs with a plant in his hand! Does he work in your cafe, if not he really should, he'd bring the ladies in!
