Four people in our party ordered fish and chips for lunch for £17.95 from the section of the menu labelled ‘big eats’. Four small fish and chips arrived. When questioned why we’d received small portions, we were told that large fish and chips were £26 (would have made it the most expensive fish and chips in the north west?!), but was not available on that day. Large fish and chips did not appear anywhere on the menu, and it was not mentioned when we ordered. Sadly the member of staff was rude and obnoxious when speaking to us, and challenged me by saying he didn’t understand the problem. To charge £17.95 for a child-size portion of fish and chips is the problem. Will not return.

First and last time of visiting and eating here. My husband had to go ask staff who were standing by the bar chatting to each other, for someone to take our order. The beef in the Sunday roast was extremely sinewy and not enjoyable. The cheesecake desert looked like my 5 year old granddaughter had been employed to make it, as it looked awful and tasted awful unfortunately. Not recommended!

The garlic butter chips were very nice however outside of this the experience was poor. We waited too long for our order and when the chicken caeser salad arrived there was no chicken...? When it came out again ( 15 minutes later) there was anchovies mixed in with the caeser salad. Very odd. This is a shame because it looked nice from the outside.

We were disappointed to learn that the restaurant has changed ownership, as the experience no longer meets the high standards of presentation and service we had previously enjoyed. While some elements of the food were enjoyable, we found that certain dishes were slightly over-seasoned with salt. Our main course, the higher-priced Beef Wellington, was particularly disappointing. The meat was overcooked, and the portion size was excessively large, which was off-putting upon arrival. The dish was served on an oversized wooden board, and when the waitress brought additional plates, they didn’t fit on the table, forcing us to place them on the floor. One portion would have been more than enough to share, so we were embarrassed when two arrived, as it was far too much food for one person. We would have preferred quality over quantity. The service lacked cohesion, with several small issues that detracted from our overall comfort and enjoyment. Unfortunately, this experience has left us hesitant to return. Its a shame because we used to love coming here and the food was always very good, however, after this experience it wouldn't be on my list to return.

Nicely taken over from the old church green owners. Food was lovely, I would recommend the parmesan truffle fries they were very yummy. Inside was lovely and warm on a winters evening. Atmosphere when we visited was quite empty to begin with then turned busy and noisy as a large group arrived. Be prepared for a lot of green inside, all the walls even the radiators were green. Staff seemed friendly but was served by one member of staff most of the evening. Overall experience was nice so I rate a 5 star

Starters were ok but the mains’ description wasn’t reflective of what arrived. We ordered the “smashed burger”. There was nothing “smashed” about it. Very standard, over-cooked burger. We also ordered the sausage and “Yorkshire pudding soufflé “ again there was nothing “soufflé “ about it. Feel like they’re throwing descriptions in to make the meals sound special, but the reality is quite different. Desserts were ok. Service was acceptable.

Been here many times for breakfast and its usually superb. Today, however was shambolic, now under new management, the food and service was abysmal. I ordered the full breakfast, my girlfriend ordered poached eggs on toast and extra mushrooms...£1.80 for one over cooked flat mushroom. It took an eternity to arrive, my full breakfast had bacon tougher than old boots, one sausage which was still squealing, a poached egg way over cooked, beans with a layer of skin, and one small slice of toast under cooked and drenched in butter they eventually brought out two new eggs, again another long wait, another 5 mins for new toast which yet again, drenched in butter which I did not ask for. Asked if everything was ok, I spoke to a lady who offered a somewhat limp apology and offered to knock 25% off... Will not be returning any time soon, appalling service, and awful food. Avoid.

After not coming here since I was a baby, I booked breakfast last week with my parents. The produce was so good 👍 tasty, hot, and a great portions and fabulous staff. It was that good we came back Thursday for dinner. Myself and mum had the pie of the day and dad the curry. The pies are homemade for the pub and wow, the best pie we've ever tasted that good mum and dad ordered some from the church greens deli. The pies are full of filling and taste so good. Dad said the curry was excellent, homemade too. The food was all hot and looked appetising on both occasions. Both waitresses were attentive chatty and efficient. The brothers who run the pub are lovely and remember you. My mums going through a health condition at the minute, and Mark asked my dad while collecting the pies he had ordered how mum was! I wanted to reach out regarding our recent dining experience at The Church Green on Sunday at 1:30 pm. I had reserved a table for four, including friends I hadn’t seen in some time and had introduced to your restaurant, hoping to enjoy a high-quality meal together. While our waitress was extremely polite and attentive, unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. We ordered two turkey roast dinners, which were served barely warm, with potatoes that were hard and lacking in flavor. By the time I was halfway through, the meal had become completely cold. My husband’s fish and chips were mostly greasy batter, and our other guest’s salad with anchovies was just edible. However, the hummus starter was lovely. I left without expressing my disappointment to avoid embarrassing our group or disrupting our meal with a re-heated plate or waiting for a replacement. Given that our bill was around £165, I had anticipated fresh, high-quality food as advertised. Regrettably, this experience has left me feeling let down, and I’m will not recommend The Church Green to others in my network. Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I hope it can contribute to maintaining the standards that guests expect from your restaurant. Christine Morley

This used to be a Michelin star restaurant. Now it has an absolutely awful menu. It still has the remnant of a nice pub that has been left out in the cold. I don't know who wrote the menu but there is more choice in local chipy. Even what is on offer is just about average with above average prices. just doesn't ever warrant a 2nd visit. And it doesn't even have a good selection of beers. Don't even get me started on the gents toilet. Overall not a place I would recommend. hi It really is a shame. It could be a very nice restaurant. Really lovely location, set back off the main road. The outdoor seating area is well maintained and there are tiny fairy doors on the tree outside which is a nice little detail that kept our little one busy while we were there. Service was quick and although we only bought three drinks and a bowl of chips, we enjoyed all of it. We said we would go back and eat in the garden room next time because it looked really nice! Went back having been a regular previously. Impressed with new staff, food served hot , tasty and reasonable. Seems to have lost some of the ‘celebrity chief’ shine with a more basic menu , but was a very good standard. No longer child friendly under new ownership. We were told to leave because the kids were enjoying the tree and the grass. WARNING: no longer a child friendly place under new ownership Our recent visit to The Church Green was deeply disappointing and embarrassing. On a Friday sunny afternoon, we went with friends and our children, expecting a pleasant time. The kids (all aged 3-5) were innocently playing on the grassy area out the back, as they usually do, when they were approached by staff and they was first asked to stop climbing the big tree at the back and playing with the fairy doors which they did, despite us feeling like it was unnecessary as they were causing no harm. Shortly after, the children moved on and were approached again for climbed a small wall and playing hide and seek, and to our shock, without second warning we were asked to leave on behalf of the owners. This reaction was entirely uncalled for, especially since there were no signs indicating that children couldn't play in the garden. The previous owners always welcomed families, and our children have been used to playing in the outdoor grassy space, making this interaction both surprising and disheartening. We left feeling unwelcome and completely embarrassed, a stark contrast to the warm experiences we previously enjoyed here. I won’t be stepping foot in here again and am utterly shocked at how the staff have treated us, especially on a quiet Friday afternoon in the school holidays Also to mention my husband and I visited earlier in the week without children and didn’t have a particularly great experience either (both within the same week) Took ages to take our drinks order, they then forgot to bring them and when we got our bill we were overcharged for both of our main courses. Shambles, such a shame Edited: My response to the reply from management Hi, Thank you for your response and for clarifying the situation. While we appreciate your concern for health and safety, we must address a few points. As parents, we equally prioritise the well-being and respectful behavior of our children. At no point during our visit were we informed that our children were throwing stones at the property or causing damage. This is the first we are hearing of these accusations, and it is quite distressing. When the staff asked the children to stop climbing the tree, we immediately intervened and ensured they complied. We were not approached again or informed of any further issues until we were asked to leave, which left us feeling blindsided and embarrassed. Our children are only five years old and were simply playing, as children do. If there were specific concerns or incidents, we would have appreciated being addressed directly and treated like responsible adults. Children of that age do not act with malicious intent, and we believe the situation could have been handled more amicably with better communication. We value respectful interactions and would have preferred a more constructive approach to resolve any issues. If there are areas of concern regarding health and safety, it would be helpful to have clear signs or fencing around the tree to prevent climbing, and doors or signs in areas deemed unsafe to guide parents and children appropriately to avoid future incidents.

We could only get a table outside on a rainy November Sunday due to poor planning on our part, but it was well worth it for the fabulous roast, one of the best I’ve had for a long time, and such friendly and professional service. Next time I’ll book in advance as inside looked very cosy. Big thumbs up from me 👍

Beautiful surroundings and next to St Mary's Church in Lymm. Lymm Dam being just a little further up. The ice cream was the best I've ever tasted, I chose Candyfloss. The Sausage roll had huge meat content and was fairly priced.

Unfriendly rude, arrogant staff (family run) in the restaurant. The deli shop..£6.50 for a dry sourdough loaf., with so many good bakeries not too far away, I will NEVER go in this shop again. The shelves were virtually empty and in place some naff books. Looks like the place is on its last legs. Like to support local business but not at any price and without a smile.

Came here to try out the food challenge and while made a good dent in it, had a lot still left to go. That said it was good food, and the service was really friendly and encouraging. It was a Wednesday night, so only 1 other group in, so fairly quiet in terms of atmosphere.
