The Chubby Cherub in Belfast

When I first walked into this place, the first thing that piqued my interest was the smell of fresh bread/pizza. It didn't take long for me to decide that I wanted to eat pizza. And I'm so glad I did! The dough was so crispy and smelled heavenly, and the goats cheese is a must have!! My partner ordered the vegan risotto and enjoyed it very much. Our waitress was very friendly, and even offered us 2 small portions of tiramisu at the end of our meal! I was afraid it would be too creamy or overly sweet, but they actually struck a balance perfectly, and so we ate the whole thing despite already being stuffed from the main meal.

Probably the best place I've been to in Belfast. The interior atmosphere and service are at the highest level, thank you very much. I will definitely come again.

Great service and one of the best tiramisu’s I’ve ever had!

Had a lovely early dinner here in central Belfast. Nice service, gorgeous food and lovely wine selection made for an all round brilliant family outing. Pizzas were excellent and more than enough even for the heartiest appetites. The pastas were really tasty and I can really recommend the roasted vegetable manicotti.

A fabulous little gem. Cosy restaurant with warm atmosphere and friendly service. Fresh, tasty food at reasonable prices. Try the muscles for starter! ❤️

Beautiful restaurant and delicious food and drinks

We visited on 30 December 2024. When we ordered our drinks and water for the table, we were asked to order the food as well. We assumed this meant the food might take a while. Our main courses came pretty quickly BEFORE our starters! Our drinks - not even the water - did not appear until we were half way through despite asking about them several times - and even then they did not come together. Our enquiries were met with a shrug and we were told there was only one person working on the bar. Firstly, that was not OUR fault and secondly, why were we asked to order the food immediately if that was the case? Clearly there was zero coordination between the kitchen/bar staff/servers. All in all, a huge disappointment.

This spot is lovely and relaxing and the vibes are good, very pretty place inside, the food was amazing as well and lovely staff

A family visit here was one of the worst meals each of us has ever had. Every single dish was disappointing, the wine menu was abismal and even the most expensive bottles were undrinkable - as were the margaritas, which we sent back. Will never return and one of the most awful restaurants in which we have had the misfortune of dining - extremely overpriced, given the poor quality of every aspect.

Got the Christmas special of turkey and that sauce was so good ill be trying to recreate it.

Terrible from start to finish…should have listened to other reviewers. Everything advertised on their facebook was not available, only at their other branch even though none of the posts said this. Staff were rude and the menu wasn’t great. Overpriced and over charged…£100 for two mains and two drinks. Drinks menu is like a book with the name and price on each page very annoying when trying to decide what you want. Prices advertised didn’t include VAT which I think is illegal, 20% added to bill for drinks at the end. Also when booking online they charge you £10 per person so make sure they take this off the bill!! Because they didn’t for us and were rude when we rang up to see why our card was charged. Will not be back!

Bit disappointed with what I seen yesterday with respects to the service. Watched a server sit and eat with an off duty staff member. Which was fine nothing much to worry about. They proceeded to go to the hatch lift parmesan shavings from a dish eat them set the dish down, while another member of staff then served it to me. Besides the fact I didn't eat it but to do it from a paying customers dish, while also in front of the guests is a bit much. Never had a bad experience but given that happens with foh staff you'd question what the boh is like.

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE!!!!!!! Yesterday we ordered our food at 4.19pm, it was processed at 7.19pm and deluvered to our address at 7.40pm. We phoned a number of times and were told lies about it being picked up and on its way. The food arrived and it was freezing. I don't like McDonald's food but it's better than this place, do not eat here.

I attended with a friend on Saturday 16th with a friend while in Belfast. We booked ahead of time on the website as Belfast was busy that day and we used it as a precautionary measure. We were charged £10 each as a deposit which came out of my account, I thought this was ok as it solves no show and thought as stated on the website that this would be comped from the bill at final payment. That was wrong. My friend and I calculated when we were first ordering that we would be spending £50 on 2 mains and 2 desserts as well as 2 soft drinks. When we got the bill, it was £62 due to hidden service and food charges that were not stated to begin with. When we were paying, the server asked if we had made an online booking whereby I replied yes as I know the money came out of my account. She then proceeded to walk way and talk to people for a few minutes before coming back and not taking anything off the bill! So in theory I lost £30 in hidden charges, which is nearly half the bill. After this, we had to leave due to time constraints, so I emailed the restaurant swiftly which I received nothing back but an email asking to book again. Disgraceful. The situation has not been rectified as I am writing this review which I was hesitant to make as the food was delicious but after reading other people’s reviews, people are having the exact same issue which is to no avail.

The dessert and the decoration of the place were very good. But the seats are very uncomfortable, the food is not good for the price, I ordered a peperonni pizza and they gave me three pieces of peperonni alone, the pizza was empty, the other dishes were not good either, the only good thing is the dessert. They charged us £10 for the service, what service? He came to take command and that's it. I wish I had gone to McDonald's

The Chubby Cherub pizza is out of this world good! Shoutout to Arman and Vita for excellent service :) All of the staff were very friendly and attentive- best dinner experience in Belfast so far, hands down. Rounded it off with some delicious lemon sorbetto! You gotta this place out!

Gorgeous little place. Beautiful food. We had pizza and it was the best pizza we've had in a long time. Staff really friendly, great atmosphere. Would love to return but we were on holiday. We took away the food we didn't manage to eat. Highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere and decor, large portions, pasta dishes were lovely, nothing extraordinary but great home cooked food.

This restaurant is so beautifully decorated, the attention to detail is amazing!! The food was sooo good, when we come back to Belfast we will definitely come back :) the service was brilliant too, our server vitalina was lovely and very attentive.

Me and my company decided to go here, not me, as I had visited before and didn't like it. My company didn't listen to me and we went there. Food improved slightly, but very clear that these people have NO idea how to cook Italian food, so people eating it THINK it's good as they have no idea either. Horrible stodgy pizza. Not going back.

Popped along for dinner on the off chance that they had space, managed to fit us in with a 10 minute wait which was really good of them. Food was really lovely, cute atmosphere and really comprehensive menu and drinks menu. Highly recommend the risotto and the seafood orzo pasta, really lovely. Friendly service, too!

Came to the restaurant with my friend on Saturday evening. Staff welcomed us very friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very cozy. Drinks and food were amazing for reasonable price. We got Italian bramble and espresso martini, both were incredible. For starters we had goats cheese crostini and hummus pizzetta. As a main courses we ordered Como pizza and Pork Gnocchi. The food was amazing 🤩, staff friendly and polite. Definitely will come back again!

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! Me and my partner go to this place every year for our anniversary and we have never been disappointed. But this time ,when my meal arrived ( i hadPollo Saltimbocca ) I was very disappointed and dissatisfied, there was hardly any chicken on a plate . I would say not even half of the chicken fillet. Shame for such a nice place and food is absolutely beautiful, but amount of food just isn't good enough for the price you pay !!!! WE LEFT HUNGRY!!!

Fantastic place to go for some really great Italian food. It’s simple and very tasty and the staff couldn’t be nicer.. 10/10 to Arman and all the waitresses that took such good care of us..

Beautiful Restaurant, lovely food, a bit on the expensive side.

The risotto was too salty and the brusccetta was to bland. I think the tomatos where not ripe enough. My husband loved his vegan risotto though. So I will give another go some other day.

I ordered the almond-orange cake, which came with ice cream, and it was all delicious alongside an English Breakfast tea. The vibe was incredible. Thank you

If for whatever reason you wanted a break from sunny Belfast and feel for a bit like you're on the Sorrentine Peninsula, this is your best bet. Portions comfortable for both a starter and a main for lunch. The waitress (La Dolce) Vita is the best on the island, I have spoken.

If you want to eat delicious pizza and lasagna, this is a place you can easily go to👏

Came to visit my mum from Yorkshire England. The staff were highly professional and polite on the 13/10/24. The staff were so lovely and the food was lovely and fresh. Your cocktail maker tonight made a sidecar cocktail. It wasn’t on the menu but he had heard of it and was happy to try and make it. A classic cocktail and genuinely, it was made perfect!

First time in Belfast. Experience was tremendous until visit to here. Decor amazing, food mediocre but service shockingly bad. Party of 10, were made to feel serving us was an inconvenience Overall poor value for money.

I visited here with two friends a few days ago for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had booked and paid the £30 fee to secure the table. This fee is then taken off of your bill. The food was excellent, from starter to desert it was excellent. Service was very efficient and helpful even though it was really busy. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The only slight issue is that even with three people at a table for four the tables are very small and cramped. It really is a bit of an issue but I wouldn't let it deter you from trying this restaurant. The food is great, prices reasonable and location is very convenient. I'd highly recommend this restaurant and I will return in the future.

Arrived last night with a prebooked table. We got sat and it felt as if the service didn't want us there, very much felt brushed off. The menu leaves much to be desired,with the descriptions lacking what the meals actually consist of. I got a main dish ceasar salad, which was not only a starter size, but the chicken was dry and chewy. The tales around us which came in after were served before us, and with a lot more gusto. Not only was I disappointed by the dish, the service was lacking in every area. The bull came with a service charge pre set, if it were my choice I would not have left one, our server brushed us off and clearly did not want to deal with us. We had to ask for a drinks menu and to place our order because we were waiting for someone to come over. As for the atmosphere, the decor may have been the best part in my opinion. It left a lot to be desired, especially for a 4 star frankly overpriced menu.

Coming with 4 people, we found this restaurant by chance. The place immediately appealed to us, the welcome was very pleasant. We all enjoyed ourselves: lasagna for one, bruschetta with parma ham and mushrooms for the other, and 2 chose bruschetta with garlic shrimp. A real pleasure! I highly recommend this restaurant where you feel good!

Even though several tables were free, I was turned away. Very unfriendly!

We arrived last night for a main course and a round of cocktails. It was certainly a strange atmosphere, a couple who were seated after our table had their orders taken before us. They also were given a drinks menu with the regular menus, whereas we had to ask for one. When we did ask the waitress did not seem to want to help us, and nearly threw it onto our table. The food was subpar. The chicken in the Caesar salad was dry, the pancetta was overcooked and overall the food was not good value for our money. There was also items not advertised in the menu in the dish. The cocktails were lovely, we cant fault those. Very original and different cocktails along with the classics. The service was shockingly bad. We do not know if it was because we were young, or if it was because of our accent but the waitresses were inattentive and unbothered with helping us. We always had to get their attention rather than them asking if we needed anything. Final point was an eight pound service charge was added to our bill, which we were not happy to have to pay. We did not feel that the service matched the charge we were expected to pay. We were only a table of three, I do not understand why a charge was placed on our table. The decor was lovely, very warm and beautiful, thats the best I can say about our evening here.

We left hungry and disappointed. Unfortunately the menu descriptions weren’t very clear which meant we ended up something different to what we had expected. The vegan “spaghetti” was just spiralised vegetables and the polenta “fries” were more like thick goujons. The value for money wasn’t really there either as the portions were quite small and topped up with rocket leaves. We were offered some chocolates upon leaving which we politely declined as we can’t have dairy to which the hostess replied “They are vegan… I think”.

Plats excellents et présentation soignée. J’avais choisi les pâtes carbonaras et elles étaien excellentes ainsi que la soupe minestrone en entrée. Mon mari aveit choisi les liguinis avec boulettes de bœuf et les a beaucoup aimé aussi. Ils cuisinent leur pain et il est vraiment bon. Le calzone au nutella partagé à deux était succulent. Nous avons aimé l’atmosphère du resto. Je recommande.

Disappointing. We were greeted in a cold and rude manner, being asked if we had a reservation, without a hello or a friendly smile. Once our drinks arrived the waitress abruptly asked “who’s is this”- which my friend and I took to be very rude. The food was also disappointing. My friend and I ordered a pizza which was extremely greasy to the point we didn’t want to finish eating it. Throughout our experience in the restaurant we were made to feel very unwelcome, until we were leaving. However, we loved the interior, very unique!! We also thought the images of the drinks in the menu was a great idea. Overall, due to the negative attitude from the staff, I don’t think we will be back soon.

Met with family on Saturday and had a great lunch. Everyone’s food looked and tasted delicious. I particularly enjoyed as I was able to order a gluten free pizza which was superb. I also was able to have the panne cotta which was one of the best I have had. Reasonably priced, good service. All in all a very positive experience.

Really great atmosphere and the food is incredible mostly. The only thing that lets it down is the desserts in my opinion.

Came here with our two kids for dinner on Day 1 of our Belfast visit. We loved it so much that we came back for dinner on the second day. Staff is excellent and very welcoming. Decor is gorgeous and atmosphere equally lovely. There is a nice little buzz in the place at dinner time. Food is absolutely gorgeous, from the starters to the pizza to the pasta and desserts. Everything was incredibly delicious and impeccably presented. Thank you for making dinner one of the highlights of our Belfast trip!

We had the Caprese starter - BEST Mozarella I have had in a year. Creamy, smooth, incredible. We had the Carbonara and the Meatball Linguine - both were exquisite! The flavours were incredible, fresh - best meal we had in Belfast!

Mains were lovely, would come here again for food, but would go for desert elsewhere. The pannacotta was bad and we couldn't really eat it. Isn't panna cotta, was just a cup of white chocolate icing, not nice at all. Servers were lovely and vibe / decor was nice!

Food was amazing. My wife is Italian and she gave it a thumbs up. She is very picky about Italian food. The service was prompt and friendly. My wife, daughter and I had a great time and picked up a tiarmisu and a canoli to take with. Definitely a place to visit. You wlll not be disappointed.

I have just returned from a business trip to Belfast. Being on my own, I was a little unsure of eating out on my own but this restaurant looked so inviting, I had to try it. AND I’M SO HAPPY I DID! The service, food and drinks were excellent. So good, I found myself there the following night too. I’m a vegetarian (don’t judge me) and the choice was excellent for me and vegans alike.

Had a great meal at The Chubby Cherub. Was a last minute booking on a Saturday night but they got us in quickly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was delicious and the service fantastic, I would highly recommend!

We stepped there for a dinner and it was an excellent decision. Two pizzas were served surprisingly fast and we loved them, even though I was not convinced at the beginning to the mix of ingredients that they were conisted of - I was wrong, they composed just wonderfuly with one another. Not to forget about creamy and delicious tiramisu. Highly recommended place.

Went here for the first time to celebrate sisters birthday and the staff were lovely! Food was nice and service was quick. They brought out my sisters dessert with a small candle ontop and sang happy birthday without prior notice (we were asked if we were celebrating any special events when we were waiting on food coming and that was how they knew). Service charge was added but I didnt mind from the quality service we got. Would recommend!

Went for a meal out with friends, and had a great time. Beautiful place, lovely staff members who had the best banter, great cocktails and hair advice tips! Mac & cheese on a pizza is definitely a vibe I hadn't expected! 10/10 would go again Edited as realised i forgot the "s" to make it plural.

We visited the Chubby Cherub today for the second time . It was a wonderful experience like the first . The food wine and atmosphere deserves 10 out of 10 .A special mention for Lewis ,who stood out as extraordinarily friendly and professional....well done to you ,Lewis your attitude and demeanour wasn't lost on Stéphane, who has many years of restaurant ( Michelin star ) behind him Thank you. Very disappointed. Average gluten free pizza, fine but had better. Potato and chicken dish very expensive for the size. Nothing mind blowing. Extreme concern about your menu. States allergen free dishes that actually have the allergen in. Lucky the waitress is on the ball or i‘d have been severely ill! She said it may have been a menu misprint… to be honest, I don’t care. If your allergens are printed wrong, get it re done. It’s not something you mess around with. Having the wrong allergens printed could kill someone. Won’t be returning, better places in Belfast.

Ambiance was nice, but food was a bit of a let down. It's certainly not bad, but it seemed just okay compared to all the hype. Crostini was good, but my gnocchi was mediocre.
