Excellent spot for a roast on Sunday and a great selection of beer and ales.

Sunday lunch is amazing, never been to a pub with such a variety of vegetarian and vegan options, I’ve had most of them and they are all absolutely delicious The wood fired pizza is also fantastic, had it last friday, really good value for money and again impressed by the vegetarian menu Beer is on the pricier side but as is everywhere decent nowadays Bar staff were all lovely, will definitely be returning here soon

Great pizzas great beers and friendly staff. Went in to wait for a friend and ended up staying for a while! It was very busy in the beer garden

The roasts were incredible! Our order didn’t go through in the qr’s but they quickly rectified it, service was brilliant. And as I say, the roast was very good so we didn’t mind! Also great vegan options!

I just wanted to say, what a thoroughly decent young man Lewis is. He went above and beyond on the 7th September. He is a huge asset to any business.

A "tap" with one cask ale on sale on a Wednesday evening. Me: "Why have you got no beer?" Barman: "We have got beer, just one cask beer." Me: "Why only one?" Barman: "The people who chance the barrels aren't in today." We left.

A great bar with a lovely beer garden at the back, a real sun trap! The staff seemed to be very knowledgeable about their beers, which were all local and the ones I tried were very very nice! Would definitely go back.

My Sunday roast didn't come together with the rest, and when it did finally arrive, the pork chop was so dry, I couldn't eat it. The rest was OK. Wine options at the pub are limited and the ones on offer are just cheap house wines. I don't recommend this place

One of, if not the best roast I’ve had. The lamb was sensational. Plenty of nice choices available for veggies+vegans too!

5* for food absolutely gorgeous, however was abit disappointed no chicken or turkey. Abit impersonal scan a QR code to order had to pay and option to leave tip before eating. A more traditional approach may be nicer. Abit of music and maybe candle on table to up the atmosphere as quite plain and old inside. Overall roast was 5* and would come back!!

This is my new 'go to' for sunday lunch. 4x meat and 4x vegan options, they change regularly. The food is good quality, it's genuinely nice to have such a balanced vegan / non vegan menu. Perfect for a mixed group of meat eaters and vegetarians / vegans. The panko herb vegan chicken was amazing, friends said it was nicer than the meat! The mixed mushroom wellington was also really nice. Portions could be a little bigger, but I'd rather have quality over quantity any day. I wish you could order via the waitress / bar instead of using a stupid app / website and having to do it online. It asks for tips up front, which seems to be a silly way round.

Singularly the worst bar staff I have ever encountered

25/04/24: what happened to Wander Beyond? Still a good range of craft ale. I had the Marble Brewery: Nilson lime & coconut sour. Quite exceptional really. 27/06/23: [photo update] 19/01/23: always a great choice of Wander Beyond Brewing. Back again for another smal session. Jeez the Quokka is stong! 08/10/22: formerly The Bar, Chorlton Tap boasts 4 Cask and 16 Keg lines. Brewery Tap for Wander Beyond Brewery. Not the first time here, part of the Chorlton Ale Trail, so much choice, with some brews not for the faint hearted! Sadly only took one photo whilst I was here, but I've also uploads a couple of photos of pump toppers from the Wander Beyond Brewery to give you a feel for what may be instore! Dog friendly 👍🏻

Food was generally of excellent quality and was very well prepared and cooked. Though it was served stone cold, and the cauliflower cheese was actually terrible (burnt, very watery, not cheesy at all). Potatoes were really good! Though at £23 for a single meal, I'm sorry to say this was really not worth it at all. So I can't recommend the food, but it's a great pub otherwise 🙂 would still recommend paying this place a visit.

This place has gone down the nick over the years, to the extent that it's always nearly empty. It's been neglected and the staff are rude and indifferent. Used to be a lively atmosphere with regulars as well as visitors, but now it's more like a soulless city centre pub. People have voted with their feet.

Great mix of people including some loveably leftfield quirky eccentrics. Great range of ales. Only wish you could get food on a Sunday without having to resort to an app which keeps telling me my mobile number is invalid even though I've had same one for over 20 years. The only letdown of this place.

Very good roasts, really wide range of options, four vegan options alone when we visited one Sunday. The beer variety was a bit strange - a lot of incredibly strong beers (10-13%) and fewer regular beers. A higher quantity of choice than a regular pub for sure, but so many of them were high percentage there was nothing I really wanted to try.

Nice bar staff but very bad experience at end of the night, some guy telling us to "get out now" in a very aggressive manner, we left without finishing our drinks. I am still feeling very affronted now by the experience

Just simply excellent the food was outstanding, service spot on and greet beers too, flawless.

Had the vegan tofu steak roast by Nora's kitchen. It was really satisfying, filling and good. The staff were also friendly and helped with any questions I had regarding the menu. Would recommend!

Visited for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. We both chose the roast beef which was perfect, lovely spuds and huge homemade Yorkshire pudding! Staff were all very friendly and helpful, thank you.

We sat there for 40 mins after ordering only to be told they didn't have our option of the Sunday veggie meal. We went to the laundrette, beech rd & had a lovely roast there instead

The bar is opposite Chorlton Metro so popped in with Paulicarus for a last pint. Very young crowd to an old codger like me. Large bar in the CAMRA 2023 Good Beer Guide. Sadly only one real ale left late on a Sunday afternoon. A Squawk brewery Pale Ale. Card only. Large front and rear outdoor seating.

The Vegan roast dinner was AMAZING! All the staff were super friendly. A nice and relaxed atmosphere - would highly recommend. Huge shout out Aimee who went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.

Attended the 5 course Vegan tasting dinner. The food was delicious - highly recommended. Staff were lovely. Will definitely go again. Lost one star for limited range of interesting alcohol-free drinks. Other than that, perfect ❤️

Some good beers on draft. Service was a bit slow and not attentitive. Prices are a bit steep but it is next to the tram station. Nice little beer garden. Worth a visit.

*under new management I think* Meh! We arrived and everyone working there just seemed stoned. Stood for about 10 minutes and told one person we were booked in and the name after ten mins of just standing there, we got seated, 2 mins later someone else comes over and tells us we need to move seats, they pointed in the general direction of a corner section… sat down; waited… realised we had to order via an app which is fine but considering we’d paid £60 (and we were rudely told to sit by a grubby finger pointing in a general direction towards a corner seat and the waiter walking off immediately) we just had to guess which seat was ours it wouldve been nice to be told so we weren’t just sat confused! When we were half heartedly shown… then after ordering off the app and realising no drinks were on there we ordered from the bar (we’d already just been shoved fr pillar to post and just wanted a nice Sunday roast… we wouldn’t have come if we knew it had changed this much) weren’t told you had to go to the bar to order drinks…. so we sat there again forever… we weren’t told anything… Customer service was bottom of the barrel. Everyone was either hungover, stoned or just rude. Either way, down hill! Grim.

Food good. Beef a little tough for my elderly mother. My lamb shank was nice. A little awkward ordering on the app as elderly my mother wanted to pay who doesn’t do apps. Resented a £9 service charge being added as in effect by ordering on the app there is no real service apart from someone bringing the plates out. But the service charge can be taken off. But would revisit.

My pork dinner was lovely but really wanted lamb! Husbands beef was like cardboard! Rest of it was ok!

Really nice to see that some small brewers are happy to fly the sour flag in a market overwhelmed by IPAs. The only thing I would say is that there were lots of 'imperial' drinks - maybe these are good for winter, but I tend to steer clear of such strong beers.

I have been coming in here for 25 years as it was my local and favourite pub in Manchester, but since my last review things have changed. I went in last weekend, and imagine my disappointment to find that there was no cask ale (other than stout). They had a large selection of Keg craft beers, but these come at a premium price and are too gassy for my taste. Whilst I appreciate that hipsters like to drink this stuff, there is still a viable market for traditional cask ale. It would also appear that people are voting with their feet as the place was almost empty on a Saturday night. So come on Chorlton Tap (I prefer The Bar), get a grip and bring back those halcyon days when there were 6 hand pulled beers to choose from!

Okay but nowhere near the glory days of 'The Bar'. Seems to have lost that vibe it had in the early 2010's.

Great beer selection, friendly staff, good facilities, great location, nice private feeling garden out the back for fresh air with covers from the rain. You can also sit out the front too.

Went for Sunday lunch while coming back from town, it was empty inside but a sunny day. No paper menus, you are supposed to order on line using their app where they add a tip even before you've had anything and then you are supposed to order drinks at bar. App asked for phone email and other personal info. Had real problems with the app on my phone. Just couldn't be bothered with the faff, 😡 so went elsewhere where I ordered everything at once at the bar using a paper menu no app required 😀

Really great Roasts! Good beer 🍻 and cool staff. I got the roast short rib and it's more than enough for 2 people.

Found the Tap by sheer good fortune. We were heading to a gig at Old Trafford and decided to have a drink in Chorlton before walking to the ground. Great place, loads of interesting beers to try and a good atmosphere. We liked it so much we went back after the gig for another go 🙂

Not been here in years, a little worn but has a welcome feel to it, quite pricey but as I can't drink for medical reasons I managed to get Budvar no alco beer and as I loved Budvar...I also now love this too..pity it didn't have the same effect...but hey ! Came in about 21.00 and got a quiet seat with our friends so we could put the world to rights..Nice way to end an evening in a relaxed atmosphere.

Friendly, nice atmosphere, good beer, what more could you want. Very handy for the Chorlton tram stop which is opposite, and we some outside seating to rear and to the front. Food options can be changeable, so worth checking in advance if you are after grub.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Used to be a local haunt years ago, but stopped going in after it changed hands as the beer fell off a bit. Looks like it's changed hands again as the range of beer is now excellent and the ones we tried were fairly priced and very well kept. The place was very busy, the staff were polite, and they've improved the rear beer garden. We didn't order food as we'd eaten elsewhere prior, but they seemed to be doing a good trade. Only negative is the toilets. Not great. Could do with upgrading the gents. They've not seen a paintbrush in over ten years.

One of the best vegan roasts we've ever had. Multiple vegan options, which is great. Really good food and even had vegan Yorkshire puds. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hubby said the beer was good too and he bought some to take home. Easy to find free on-street parking with a couple of mins walk. We'll be back!

Used to serve decent cask ale here but recently it's gone down hill as it's more geared towards the trendy keg drinker.

Sunday roast wasn't worth half the £13.50 it cost; we received shop-bought Yorkshires and roasties that were more like boiled potatoes with no crispy outers at all. The ham had no honey glaze and was more like cheap gammon. After our disappointing meals, we saw other tables being brought out homemeade Yorkshires and what looked like decent roasties. Felt really insulted and will never be going back.

There was 5 of us booked in last Sunday We waited nearly 50 mins after ordering had to ask twice where our food was The food was nice and lots of choice but after we had eaten we had to leave as had been there 2 hours Would of been better if we had received our food sooner xx

Vegetarian meat alternatives are absolutely amazing and I can't fault them. Food was cooked well and tasted great, lovely staff. Giving 4 stars as notes on order wasn't taken into account but not a big issue!
