Food was lovely, all fresh and cooked to order. The staff were so welcoming and chatty. Really nice experience. Fed 3 people for little over £20. Highly recommend the Banana Fritters with Golden Syrup :)

We were served some of the best fish & chips that we had had in years. It was on a rather cold day so we sat ourselves next to a large wood burning stove, real cozy. Toilet facilities are roomy and staff are friendly and very helpful. Well worth a visit

This place was highly recommended to me by my Daughter, so travelled from Rugby to Norton, it was definitely worth the journey. The fish and jockeys whips were amazing.

Best chippy for miles around, we pass another on the way to this one as it's worth the extra 2 miles. Good range, freshly cooked, and you can pre-order so it's ready when you get there. It's also good to sit and eat it with a pint occasionally, beer well kept and friendly local pub.

Grew up on the seaside ... not far from Whitby as it goes and have struggled since moving to to Midlands to find good fish and chips. My struggle is over.

Just wow!!!! My self and a friend meet yearly half way between where we live to walk all of our crazy dogs together. We weren't sure where to eat so found this place on Google and we were so glad we did. Firstly the owners are absolutely lovely, so welcoming and really friendly, the fire was roaring, the food was amazing, an absolute little gem of a place. A pub and the choice of a chippy tea or pub food! The owner even popped her head out of the door to say bye as we were leaving. Wish we were closer!!!!! But we'll most definitely be coming back 🙂

Great chippy and very friendly - only thing is, PLEASE UPDATE OPENING TIMES. Opening hours on Google are incorrect! Went there for fish & chips to save cooking just to find it wasn't open until 5pm (not the 4.30pm it states when you search for it!) Ended up going back home to find a meal to cook. UPDATE - Google said open Monday's so went to get chippy dinner just to find it shut again!! PLEASE GET OPENING TIMES CORRECT ON YOUR SITE!

Not a food review but I suppose a customer relation review. Walked in what turns out to be the wrong door and was told off by a member of staff. I wasn’t in the mood to be spoken to as I’m a naughty boy so I went else where.

Pretty solid traditional chippy attached to the White Horse pub, with proper chippy chips. There's outside bench seating too that belongs to the pub, but according to the owner sitting there doesn't count as takeaway for purposes of COVID track and trace. We got quite the telling off from her for getting this wrong. Shame really, as we were considering buying a house nearby. Anyway you don't need to know my problems. Can't complain really. Well I could but who'd listen? Anyway good chips. Haven't tried the fish.

1st up this review was our 1st Fish n Chips during Lockdown but this really was a good quality meal. Ordering by phone easy. Collection uses 1 way system and you wait outside until the food is cooked and it is brought out to you. This system works great. The fish had flavour with a crispy thin batter. Chips were from good potatoes and evenly cooked. A chicken burger ordered for the youngest was a hit. Apparently “a good chicken to bread ratio and it was delicious”... Rare indeed.. Well done guys - Just what the lockdown ordered.

This restaurant is unhygienic and unclean. The short version is my daughter’s leg touched the underside of the table, there was a stranger’s sticky, used chewing gum there, which got stuck and ingrained onto her leggings. The restaurant manager has refused to cover the dry cleaning costs, which amount to £15 (Yes, that’s FIFTEEN POUNDS!). Photos attached…! THE DETAIL… After finding the gum, I notified waiting staff, but apart from being disgusted, they didn't have a procedure for dealing with it, so I asked for a plastic glove and picked the chewing gum off myself. My daughter was very distressed at having a stranger’s sputum-laden chewing gum on her, but there wasn’t much we could do (we were on a mini-break - going home to change wasn't an option), so we waited for our mains, which arrived after 40 minutes! Can’t comment too much on the food as I felt nauseated by the gum, so I only ate a tiny amount. Based on what I tasted, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again! Anyway, I paid fully for the food and drink we ordered. We were offered baklava, and myself and the other adult in the party refused, but my children accepted, and ate it. As I was leaving, I asked if I should invoice the restaurant for the dry cleaning or if I should drop the damaged item off in the morning, with a view that the restaurant would get it cleaned and post it back to me. I was told the manager would call the next day….they didn’t. Two days later, I emailed them to ask for a refund on the dry-cleaning costs, this was refused (“We are unable to do an exchange of cash or receive the trousers for dry cleaning”) with them stating their compensation had been ‘more than fair’. This ‘compensation’ had been an invitation to pop in next time I am in Daventry for a ‘treat’(!), but I had already explained to the manager that I live 1.5 hours away and did not have plans to visit again. After my second email they suggested the chewing gum could be removed with fluff/lint roller (I mean really, who has ever successfully removed chewing gum with a lint roller?). They set out the terms and conditions (you’d think I was asking for £150,000…) in order to pay up, but as of now, they have still not paid the £15 for the dry-cleaning and are quibbling it because it can only be paid into a business account, and they (Alacati Grill) must to be invoiced directly for the dry-cleaning, by the dry cleaning company, not by me. Unfortunately, the dry cleaners’ policy is that they will only accept items that are paid for immediately and they don’t invoice third parties. I did not and do not have the time, money or inclination to drive around attempting to find a dry cleaners that would invoice the restaurant, so I paid myself to get them cleaned (and let’s not forget that driving around – it’s a 24 minute round trip to the dry cleaners – costs petrol money too), so my daughter could have her leggings back to wear. I notified the restaurant of this, along with the dry cleaner’s details and proof of payment (VAT receipt, proof I wasn’t to scamming them, as that’s what it had started to feel like) and asked for a refund on the £15. It feels like I'm demanding a huge payout, but really,I would like the restaurant to admit responsibility and pay for the dry cleaning; I would never have had to pay the £15 if they had cleaned properly, so it all feels so frustrating. I would not recommend a visit to this restaurant, based on the fact that they've shown a complete lack of customer service skills, an unwillingness to take responsibility for negligent cleaning, ignored the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Chapter 4, Section 49(Service to be performed with reasonable care and skill – HA!) and worst of all, refused to pay a meagre sum of £15 to cover the cleaning costs. It's the most appalling customer service I have had the displeasure of experiencing, I would urge anyone who still chooses to eat there to wear plastic or disposable clothing.
