We held our dad’s wake here on Friday afternoon, the afternoon tea was great with lovely presentation. All our needs were catered for and the landlord could not have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend this great village pub.

Never been before but shall definitely be returning. Lovely tasty homemade lasagne. Nice friendly atmosphere. Smiling pleasant staff. Clean. Good parking area.

Great cosy pub. Buffet is always good value when we come on our bus trip but found the wooden room around the back cold this time and we all ended up squeezing in the pub to keep warm.

Very decent traditional pub. Ales on cask, keg beer, not much food on offer but the hot brisket roll was lovely. Dog and child friendly. Hospitable bar man and friendly resident black lab pub dog.

Just popped in here for a drink as it was the halfway point of our walk. Sunday lunch seemed popular for locals. In fact I would say this was a typical locals pub.

Wonderful village pub dedicated to drinks and convivial company.

Advertised as dog friendly. Rang up to enquire if they were open for food. They said yes, but people are eating and it's busy so bringing a dog "probably isn't best". So not dog friendly then! 😡

Small inside, however the friendly staff and large garden out the back more than make up for it. A good local pub.

I didn’t know this pub existed, was out driving with friends for leisure, chatting about how I don’t like to ever get angry, but I do appreciate that working up a head of steam really does help to get things done in life, my sister says ‘what a great name for a pub, hey, I know where that is! it’s out at Lilbourne!’ and sure enough it was! Lovely night, great staff, cosy place, Camra pub, job’s a good un!

What's not to like about a 5star real ale pub

My husband and we're recommended by our son to try the Head of steam food, so after a 60 mile trip we arrived to the warmest greeting and covid safe pub. The staff were very courteous and friendly and professional and had us seated and drinks order taken. The food which was a Sunday lunch was beautiful and presented lovely. All fresh veg and homemade yorkies. My husband I can only say it is the best we've had yet. We will certainly do 120 mile trip again and soon to savour the food. Go in here with my mum sometimes and my 2 year old, they're absolutely amazing, the food is to die for, all the locals are great and my son always loves it in there.

Sunday lunch with choice of 3 meats (pork, chicken and beef) veg, roasties and gravy. Can have all 3 meats if wish. Plenty of meat. £10. We didn't have a pudding as were full, but puds looked yummy. Finished off with coffees. Staff very friendly and attentive. Probably best to book. Think Olde cottage decor with railwayana. Plenty of parking adjacent. We'll be back for Christmas meal 👍

Pub 0k. Dinner poor for the cost..meat perfect. No boiled potatoes..and TV playing when folks are eating..poor show..when folks want to converse..beer good people nice... might pop by sometime.!!!!

Lovely pub, and outstanding food. Never usually do reviews but felt the need after our recent visit here to try a Sunday roast. Massive compliments must the go to the chef who perfectly prepared what was a delicious meal and we were not the only ones. Listening to the people roundabout us there was nothing but complimentary comments about the food which I have never experienced before while eating anywhere. Next to try will be the Thursday steak night.

Recent change of Landlord seems to have had little effect so far. Still a wonderful pub. Now serving food on Monday & Tuesday lunchtime. Should swerve more widely soon.

The beer is kept well the staff are friendly but for me the place hasnt enough about it to be dragging me too far from other places that offer the same without the trip into the countryside.

The friendliest pub I have been in for a long time. Décor is beautiful and it's rural location is charming. Food is limited but truly excellent and very very reasonable on price. Wish I had a pub like this in my village.
