What a great little find , i heard tis place was good , but its excellent. All the ladies who work there do not stop, so friendly. My order was taken straight away and the food arrived within 5 mins with the drinks. I would say its the best i have had for a very long time, the fish was lightly battered and chips prefect , mushy peas are as i remebered as a kid. I will be back again and agian.

We were driving from Glasgow to London, I can honestly say one of the best fish & chips we’ve had, lucky locals to have this on their doorstep!!! Debbie G

Dreadful experience. Chips luke warm at best. If you can't even get the simplest item on the menu right by serving a decent hot portion of chips, I hate to think what the rest of the offering is like. Avoid!

We were away from home yesterday to help a vulnerable relative during the current lockdown restrictions and found ourselves starving and in need of somewhere to get some food to keep us going until we got home. Because of the lockdown this was the only place we could find open without having to queue. What a mistake! We both got fish and chips and can only describe the standard of food as absolutely terrible. Cold,anaemic chips and dry as a bone,overcooked tasteless fish and batter. It sat like a lead weight in the stomach and continued to have an effect for the rest of the day. We are accustomed to preparing our own meals with quality ingredients and find it absolutely astonishing that people rate this type of food highly. Get in the kitchen people. It is better and considerably cheaper than this sort of rubbish. We are not food snobs, but object to paying good money for rubbish. Lesson learnt. Never again. Unfortunately, we have had to give this place one star because the site won't allow us to give a zero rating.

Have been a few times and always enjoyed the food, a god reliable chip shop with friendly staff. They do some of the old school stuff and have a little sit in bit in the front.

just sat in and had tea at the chippy it was fantastic lovely staff very clean,proper mushy peas i had steack pudding hubby had cod everything was freashly cooked it was lovely and a great mug of tea portion sizes great we highly recomend this chippy xx first time in a long time i have enjoyed everything on my plate

Not as nice as it use to be. Chips are really rubbery. Would prefer oven chips to what they serve here. Sadly, will not be returning.

Best priced chippy and tastes best. Staff are great too! Had a great portion of chips, sausage and gravy. No skimping on amount like other places! Never a bad meal!

In my opinion the chippy just gets better. The fish was lovely and white and the batter crisp. Chips tasty and dry. Nothing greasy at all. Very enjoyable.

Good place to pop into for a quick portion of chips whilst shopping in Standish. Staff here are very friendly, chips good. Can’t complain.

Best chippy in Standish, beats hands down all the other over rated chip shops on Standish! Open all hours and do a choice of cod or haddock which is a nice bonus!

Sign on counter says they do not accept Scottish £20 which is legal tender. After growing up in standish myself (with a scottish father who has lived in standish for 50 years) and I then moved to Scotland imagine how embarrassing it was to take my Scottish girlfriend into this establishment. Would never use this chippy again. Would go to Pepper Lane chippy instead!

The Chippy at Standish is by far one of the best takeaways in the area. It has a hygiene rating of 5, the only one in the area from what I'm told. The staff are always friendly and the food is delivered promptly and with a smile. It's tasty and well worth the price you pay!

Called today at 1800 and ordered two fish, chips and peas. They had just run out of chips ??? but rather than wait until they had cooked some more the serving lady wrapped two fish and left them, along with the peas, on the stainless steel counter - cooling down. After five minutes I asked her to put them back in the heated cupboard to keep warm but rather than do this she put them on top of the mushy pea container. After about another 5 minutes the chips were deemed to be ready and served up. Because they were desperate to start serving again the chips were actually brought out too early and were very white and anaemic. By the time we got home everything was tepid. I have eaten here before and the quality has been average on those occasions and not so bad as this time.

In my opinion The Chippy goes from strength to strength. The staff are always pleasant and like to chat. I have always enjoyed their chips but lately the fish gets better and better. The fish are also very big,lovely and white with a nice crisp batter. Saves the walk to Pepper lane for an equally good chippy tea

Never had a bad chippy from here clean well run chippy good staff it's my local chippy.. can get bizy and sometimes no parking but that shows how good it is

Fish bites are a must try here. Piping hot in crunchy batter. Chips are good too. Great value for money. Will we be coming back? Oh yes!! 👍🏻

No complaints at all. Was served quickly and the girl serving me was friendly and pleasant. The portion was a good size. The food was well cooked and tasty, the chips coukd be cooked a bit longer to give them a darker colour and more taste. I would return if in the area again.

This chippy was usually a pretty much 'go to' place for my family every blue moon as the food has always been well priced and quite nice. But we drew a line the other day when we opened up the small chips and gravy to see the chips where very soggy and had gone a strange grey colour, they where also quite cold. We where very shocked and suprised we didnt

Awful thought we would try it as the brilliant chippy we normally go to was closed wish we hadent the the oil left a awful taste in our mouths we ended up throwing it away don't know how it has a five star rating but when I checked it was last visited on the 8 November 2011 that's 5 years ago a lot can change in that time

This place is just delicious tried nearly every chip shop in Wigan but this place is definitely the best. The chips are cook d to perfection, my little boy who has always turned his nose down at chippy delights in the past is now converted thanks to here!! the chippy is my new Friday nights

Delicious food. Cant fault it. Best Fish I've ever tasted. Always hot and very tasty. Good price as well. Even has a little café inside. Brilliant

Very good chippy that seems to get better over the years. I go once a week and the fish always nicely cooked with crispy dry batter. Chips likewise nicely cooked and dry. Staff very friendly, only issue one of the lads supports Liverpool but as for a chip shop it is very good with keen prices.
