Henrietta Street chippy in Wigan

Do not always believe people rating this place 5 star the chippy is closed on a Friday the chips are tasteless charging way more then they really should do.

For a £50 order and for the waiting time of 45-60 mins would have expected freshly cooked food. Chips were stale not crispy and tasted like they had been standing there since yesterday. Fish peas etc were ok but not great. Not impressed for the price

It's the only real chippy that seems to be open on a Sunday close to me so it's our go to on Sundays. Decent chips and portions and all reasonably priced.

Very very good food and services if you want eat fish and chips this is a place for that and they do perfect kebab and kofte 👍😊

I've ordered from here many times and always my go-to chippy but tonight for what I paid to what I got...I paid over £14 for a sausage meal, which comes with peas and gravy but all I got was sausage and chips, the scallops at 90p each, well...that's what I got covered in fat...disappointed..

First time of trying! Will be back. Not huge portion, but just right for me.

Chip quality was not as I expected, partly cooked then warmed/re fried which lead to hard flavourless chips. Sausage where like leather.

Food arrived stone cold only the mushy peas where warm until they deliver themselves and not use just eat then sorry you have lost our custom,as delivery was 20mins late and food was not kept in a thermal bag or anything was just wrapped in paper.very poor.

Best place in Leigh. I saw a review about the chiken kebab being precooked ( total nonsense ) ,I am buying chicken kebab from here almost every week and it is cooked in front of me. Totally recommend. People should give honest reviews.

Please note, I dont live in the area just work and most of the time live out of a hotels. Lesson learnt, never order twice from one place, the first time i ordered it was average but good enough to order again. Ordered food today, wish I hadn't, chips were dark as if they were fried in old oil, fish was very very greasy as well as the battered burger, sausage was ok the only thing that I enjoyed, chicken kebab, was it pre-cooked and then heated up? was very hot, maybe chef Mike had some involvement don't know, you can see why I order so much for one person as most or in some cases it all gets thrown away, what a waste. Made my mind up. Hope the owner reads this and understands what a person goes through when staying away, its really depressing when you haven't eaten much and have to go out and buy a sandwich, enough said, off to morrinsons.

Absolutley vile. Chips were definetley not fresh, were rubbery and hard. Scallops were dry, hard and chewy. Curry sauce was tasteless. It ended up in the bin. Avoid at all costs

Lovely tea only grip wish they would of built the kebabs rather than giving u all the ingredients. Was really nice though.

This is my local chippy. I was going to Pennington Plaice but these chips are really tasty with generous potions and friendly service.

Under new management, & this is now the best chippy in Leigh. Chips like they should be, chunky tasty battered fish, great value for money.

Sorry this place is not what i remember, think its new owners, should of kept original recipes , very dry food , chips have obviously been frozen, wasted alot of pennies as was a big order... sadly never again use to be a good chippy

I used to love this chippy but the last few visits the foods hasn't been up to scratch and it doesn't look as clean as it used to be. chips if you can call them that are pale and greasy although portion's are large it doesn't benefit the quality of food that has to be thrown away also chippy doesn't seem as busy as it used to be. what a shame what has happened to what used be a great place. its like they are running it to the ground so they can close

The two members of staff were lovely which is why my rating is higher than it deserves. The food however was anywhere from underwhelming to unpleasant. My chips in particular had a bitter taste which no amount of salt and vinegar could disguise. Tasted like they had been cooked in fat that had had something burnt in it. They weren't very hot and were also quite tough. I have been here a few times before and although the portion sizes are generous the food is not very nice.Don't think I will bother with this chippy again.

The best fish and chips for miles around, well priced and lovely staff. Would recommend to anyone who would like a nice meal and a good deal!

A traditional English chippy which delivers the goods. Not the most extensive menu, hence the quality. Also one or two interesting items ( ie Fish finger butties)Certainly ( in my humble opinion) one of the two or three best in the area.Home deliveries on Fridays.Highly recommended.

I haven't been in for awhile but had no kids in alone and thought I am gonna have chippy tea So I ordered my usual lightly battered fish ,chips and peas It was cooked to perfection the fish is beautiful thanks Bev

Esta pequeña tienda chip es de aproximadamente 100 metros de mi casa hijas. Fuimos para el té cuando fui. Haber estado en Green Lane quería probar Henrietta y me alegro tanto de haberlo hecho. Todo lo que estaba recién preparado, las patatas fritas crujientes y seca pero el pescado estaba ligeramente con mantequilla y excelente tanto en sabor y tamaño. Debo decir que disfruté mucho más de vía verde, la siguiente parada es El Pennington Solla.

Not been here in a few months but when i used to visit here the food was always ready fast and offered good value

Como entras lugar su pedido de pescado y te dan la opción de bacalao o eglefino, entonces es fresco. El personal era amable y concentrados. Hay opciones para pagar su pedido incluyendo tarjetas inteligentes.Cuando llegamos a casa el pescado y las patatas fritas eran aún caliente. Los peces (cod) era el mejor pescado que se recuerde, cocinado a la perfección. Y las patatas fritas eran crujientes por fuera mientras suaves en el medio.Si pueden mantener este nivel que pronto necesita locales más grandes.

No he tenido un té preparado por edades, así que mi marido y yo decidimos ser traviesos y tomar un té de "fish and chips". Decidimos probar Henrietta Street "fish and chips" y me alegro, el pescado estaba absolutamente fabuloso, hay una opción de bacalao o abadejo abadejo, teníamos y estaba delicioso.Las porciones eran generosas, las patatas fritas eran recién fritos y nada grasosa.Personalmente, creo que es el mejor "fish and chips" en Leigh y lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Ordered for takeaway for the first time the other day. Came quickly and was still hot on delivery. Ordered a family meal deal and the fish was perfect and chips were lovely. Will definitely be ordering again

Bev and Co, provide a fabulous service here. They do smaller portions for those who don't have a huge appetite and there is a varied menu. They are setting up a loyalty card for customers and a delivery service is available on some nights.

Have used on regular occasions always good. Fish cooked on order reasonable price AAA would recommend to anyone

Stopped chippy tea as chippy went downhill and went on a diet !!!! Recently started Henrietta st chippy mmmmmm fabulous chips and loads to eat !! Fish great chilli good and sauces the best. Staff are so cheerful. Despite diet I will be treating myself more !!! And I wrote review on Facebook and they gave me extra special yummy must do another review lol

This newly refurbished chippy is wonderful back to a traditional chip shop but with extras like now open for yummy breakfasts

Henrietta Street Chippy is a fantastic chip shop selling tasty chips with a smile. Their portions are generous and well priced. Certainly the best chips I've tasted in Leigh for a long time.
