The Chippy in South Ayrshire

It's been a while since we've called but the special fish supper was fantastic, perfectly cooked and was great value for money.

Fritters rubbish. Very thin, small and very greasy.

A typical small town chippy with good opening hours. Fritters and fish excellent, chips ok

Check what you ordered as when I opened my picked egg, I found a pickled onion instead. 🌰

Great food and service. Won't be back though. Made a mistake. Bought frier lady a small gift to say thank you. Now feels awkward going in. But superb food and staff.

Best fish & Chips we have ever had

Chips are good when freshly fried, not so good when they've been laying for a while being kept warm.

Ordered a burger 'supper' and 10" pizza with what was meant to be 3 toppings but only had 2. Also the supper was £5 and this is what i got.......

Chips tasted good crunchy outside and fluffy inside, it very small portion

Staff pleasant, Chicken, Sausage and chips were fine, fish left a lot to be desired

That was the worst experience back heated chips that were that hard they could have been fossilized could not eat them the chicken was like dried rubber a would have been as well trying to eat the dogs rubber bone the prices were extortionate the wifes king rib was bland my boys chips and cheese there was more cheese in one cheese string than in that not reccomended the first time and the last time there a would not have fed it to a dog avoid it 7 pounds for a half chicken supper a rip off it is the chip shop as you are heading out of maybole towards girvan

Had to return two fish suppers as fish was dark brown and inedible as were the chips. After a discussion with the owner, two fresh supper given, although the chips were still terrible the fish was better. The supper was meant to be two fish but its only one cut in two. Owners attitude stunk.... No refund offered for two trips.

Fish was delicious and staff very friendly

My wife just back with a fish supper for each of us 14 quid. The box was full of grease fat not changed for weeks or months. the batter very dark in colour which either the fish has been put back in to re-heat When this shop was bought over and we were asked to give it a go and all was excellent now its a joke, please do not waste your money on anything out of this chip shop and yes I live in Maybole and will not enter every again.

Tried this traditional fish and chip shop during a stay local to Manoel. It’s very basic , only take away but that’s what’s it is.....quite a varied menu , all the usual things plus Pizza. We had two ‘fish suppers’ , each with two fish plus lots of chips. Cooked as you waited , very fresh and the Fisk was fried perfectly. Worth a visit.

I decided to order a pizza, as people raved about them. It arrived, but stone cold. Nasty slices of the outside bits of onion, cheddar cheese, which was rock hard, and rancid tasting spicy beef. Very disappointed, expensive mistake.

Staff were friendly food was excellent waiting on fittings to start making Calzones and the likes.Highly recommended give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Tried this chippy for first time in sept 2020. first class 2 fish with chips £7 really enjoyed the supper. Staff were friendly and helpful

In caravan at thomaston farm. Fancied a fish supper. £7 got us 2 fish and chips in a box. We really enjoyed the meal. First class. Friendly staff.

Family run business, everything is freshly made to order. Chicken supper is delicious and the ice cream is really good quality with plenty of choice.

Best Fish Supper ever. We all enjoyed the first, so called back again before the end of our Holiday.

I don't know how this place is still open. Nothing is ever ready and you have to wait way too long for the meal to be cooked. And then it's being rushed and is undercooked. I've been there a few times at different times of day and it was always the same. I won't be coming back.

Used this fish and chip shop from time to time clean premises and located on the main road through the town of Maybole however on my last visit the fish supper was of very poor standard in that the batter was not right my thinking. Was the hot fryer was not at the right temperature anyway the result is that I will not go back it truly was a very poor carry out.

We got fish and chips which had a little to much grease left in they were good. We might use the chippy again though.

Chips were OK could have been cooked for a couple of minutes longer, fish was of a good portion but should have sat for a wee while longer to let the fat drain out ant crisp up the batter a bit more.

it is a first class fish and chip carryout anyone passing through going to the ferry it is the place to buy your fish and chips I have used it several times as I live in the area friendly service and try there fritters brilliant it is on the main road as you are passing through

Had a fish supper recently and it was ok - chips were a bit greasy but the fish was passable. Value for money was fine in fact only 10p dearer that 2 coffees and a piece of cake in a coffee shop in Ayr earlier.

This is a standard fish and chip shop carry out also serving the usual fish and chip shop fare, it’s positioned right on the main road leading to Stranraer parking is by the roadside it’s clean and all the food is served fresh I always have the fish supper carry out most of the time it’s very good but the last two times my fish was too much batter not enough fish if you get my drift, will I go back yes hope there is less batter next time.

Horrible greasy ,do not waste your money, would never visit again, plus we had to wait 10 minutes even though it was empty

Only good thing is the food is cooked fresh, but thats about it. Even a portion of fish and chips you will wait forever to be served. Better to go into Ayr or Girvan for a fish supper.

After reading the reports about this chippy we thought we would give it a try it was far from the reports i had read . My wife had a black pudding and chips I had fish and chips . The chips were stuck together and cold , black pudding and fish was disgusting the dog wouldnt eat it .

Teníamos pescado y patatas fritas desde aquí, y nos decepcionó un poco. El pescado era delgada, el bateador era grueso y un poco duro. Para ser sincero, la comida era muy diferente a lo que tenemos en el Norte de Inglaterra y quizás esta es la razón por la que realmente no disfrute

Después de leer las críticas en Tripadvisor, decidimos darle una oportunidad Chippy en el fin de semana ya estábamos bajando la carretera. Nos metimos en el supermercado por algunas disposiciones primera y preguntó si la comida era nada bueno, pero nos aconsejaron que se acerque. Sin embargo, debido a la cercanía decidimos darle una oportunidad. Gran error! Sin duda, las porciones eran grandes, pero grandes porciones de patatas fritas grasientas y pescado secos no son una ventaja cuando terminan la papelera. Realmente decepcionante y, por £12.60 para dos cenas de pescado no hay relación calidad-precio. Evitar!

After golfing in Girvan myself & 3 friends popped in here and were pleasantly surprised.Nice Fish & Chip Shop to eat from. We had to wait but only because our food was freshly cooked for us. It was tasty, came in good portions and the batter was nice and crisp.

Stopped here for fish and chips ,best we have had in a long time ,cooked fresh as you wait ,huge portions fresh crispy batter and lovely fish all in a box so no sticking to paper .We usually use Girvan not any more would defo use The Chippy .

Recientemente visité el "fish and chips" mientras que en una obra viaje relacionado con amigos y familia. Nos recibieron con una sonrisa de todo el personal y paitent mientras nos decidimos por lo que pedir. A diferencia de la mayoría de las tiendas chip no había ninguna comida preparada y esto en el momento parecía una tontería! Me alegro Pues no lo había. El hecho de que la comida estaba recién preparado y a mejorar el sabor. Mi pescado era probablemente el mejor que he tenido. Las patatas fritas eran también cálidas y comida caliente. nadie pasando por maybole y tentempié recomiendo encarecidamente este hotel como un lugar de parada para combustible para el cuerpo. 10-10 para el personal y la comida.

Patatas fritas para morirse! Yo soy muy exigente con la comida todo el camino desde Inglaterra! Sin grasa o nada en ellos patatas fritas o papel!! Volveremos pronto por otra parte! Mmmmmm. La pizza toda rota por el hijo fue totalmente increíble dice!

I have been a fan of The Chippy in Maybole for years, food is always good. I no longer live in Maybole but when I do visit, its the first place I go to for my food! Have yet to find a chippy better than this one!

Quality food and quality staff! Best chippy in Ayrshire and always get a smile and a laugh from the staff :)

Cracking chippy, under new ownership for about a year now. Beats the Girvan chippies hands down.
