I have had previously great scampi from here in the past, but last night I paid £10.30 for the scampi, and just served overcooked batter balls, there was no pieces of good scampi in there. Unfortunately I couldn’t take it back because we had got it as a takeaway and paid online. This scampi was well over priced for such poor quality and standard. The chips, Onion rings and curry sauce were fresh and good but the curry sauce was just warm.

We came here a couple of months ago and the fish and chips were excellent. Then came again yesterday as we were in Warwick for a fish and chips. The chips were good again, but it was one of the worst fish we have ever had. Small thin and overcooked, so it was dry. If we did not have people with us, it would have come straight back. Such a small thin portion should never be served and should have been put in the bin or used for homemade fish cakes. Also if you are going to reprimand the staff you should not do it in front of customers or other staff. Having a drink in the Eagle afterwards, we overheard and talked to another chap who had the same poor fish that afternoon.

What a little gem. 7 hungry travellers were very well looked after here. Great food, good options for the kids and disabled and dog friendly.

Came here for the first time, fantastic food with great sized portions, excellent service from friendly upbeat staff and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely will come again.

80s music (my fave) good food and good staff Today was pur first time going here and KATE was amazing and so sweet I was worried about portion sizes that people were saying on reviews cus i dont eat massive but i found the small traditional set i got my dinner aND A CUPPA TEA bargain. 10/10 cant wait to come back. The chip shed's food has been awesome for as long as I can remember as a local of warwick. Unfortunately not this time, ordered their cheese and bacon burger meal and I'm beyond disappointed. This is the most soggy, wet burger I've ever eaten. Ir was disgusting, I only had two bites and the pickled gherkins out of it which is a shame considering the cost. Disappointed deeply

Ordered from here for the first time and all the food given was extremely disappointing for the price, the chips tasted old and dry like they were old chips. Sent an email regarding this and had an email back saying they would give a refund if I provided a receipt or detail about my order, they never got back to me after I sent my receipt. The food and the service was disappointing and I wouldn’t be ordering again

Fantastic- I’d go as far to say that this is the best fish and chips we’ve eaten and we come from a seaside town down south. Skip the mushy peas (they weren’t the best) and go straight for the curry gravy! lush!

There's a reason this is an award winning establishment for fish and chips because this was the best fish and chips I've ever had. My husband and I were quickly seated in this bright, clean and warm environment. The cod was fluffy and hot, and it just melted in my mouth. The batter..I've never had a tastier batter. The fries were fresh and perfectly cooked. I even tried the curry sauce, which was delicious. I highly recommend this place. Cheers from California!

No longer fresh I've been going to your Chip shed in Warwick once a month and have been since covid. Today for the first time I felt your food has gone down hill feel like the chips tasted like they were left over from lunch Not only tasted but you could also see it in the chips Disappointed I ordered 4 meal deals and they were all the same See attached photos

We sat in the restaurant for fish and chips and wow what a treat it was. Fish was outstanding, very tasty and very big. Chips were chunky and unlimited I'm not surprised it was awarded for being one of the best in UK.

What's a little gem of a chip shop. I found this place to be fun and good value excellent food the fish was top notch, the service was very good as well and decent portion size. I would highly recommend going to this restaurant for a great night out

Chips was so hard had a nasty taste very dry not fluffy chips they had black spots on them £4.85 wasted as could not eat it ordered 2 chips batches ordered a mixed kebab and chips and then was told they had no chicken kebab after paying very disappointing and a total waste of money I will not be returning I

This is the only chip shop for miles around that offers on its menu chips that are vegetarian - not fried in with fish or other meat. I tried to visit 45 mins before it closed only to be told that the vegetarian fryer is already off, so only chips in beef dripping are available.

Let down today chips funny colour and rock hard small fish which was quite fishy I'm sure they changed the oil or something I only eat fish n chips from the coast or here and I travel from Birmingham for it I hope this not the beginning of the end for the chip shed will give another go next week then decide and let u all no

When I popped in just before closing I sampled a few dishes. Extremely tasty chips, scallops and chicken. Young fashionable male staff too!

We were visiting the area for a short break and after a long day needed some wholesome food. The Chip Shed delivered just that. Good, well cooked traditional fish and chips with some excellent mushy peas.

We was in the area walking the dogs in Abbey Fields (The Kennilworth walk around the castle was closed) and wanted somewhere that did gluten-free takeaway. So I can honestly say we were not disappointed!! The food was excellent, especially the mixed kebab and chicken meat made with pulled strips of chicken. The chips were also nice and crispy. They even provide a beeper that goes off when your food is ready to collect. Will certainly be going back there again!!

After having a great first experience a few years back I've been back 6-7 times and been disappointed every time. Fired chicken that is crunchy not crispy. Chips that are cold and dry and fish that gets thinner each time whilst the price goes up. On last my visit I explained to the girl serving I only wanted chips if they're fresh and hot. I was served a mix of a few hot chips with a batch of older dry chips. Very disappointing and will not be giving them a further chance. Prefer to support some smaller independent that values the customer more.

The service was great but the fish and chips were not the best, hard chips and hard batter. Not worth the money

Oil was clearly old and fish was soaked in it, the oil definitely needs changing. Both my partner and I opted for groundnut oil. Chips were undercooked. Ketchup tasted off, likely as it was in a refillable bottle which clearly hadn’t been washed in between refills. My partner and I were ill all weekend after eating here. Would not recommend.

Went here in April 2024 for my birthday as love me Fish n chips at any opportunity. Was greeted and sat in booth, lovely n spacious and service grand. Very attentive. We were blown away with how fresh n gorgeous there food was. The chips were fluffy and crispy, No skin on them in sight at all.(hate skin on not real chips to me)....cooked to perfection. The Cod Fish was beautifully cooked, fat and succulent, crispy batter not oily one bit...perfection, down to the mushy peas n coffee served with my meal...absolutely Lush. Service and staff fabulous, Couldn't wait to go back asap. Well.....unfortunately Not the case today at all people!😒 Went today around 6pm, busy day Saturday. Was sat on a 2x table and chairs...the chair was so uncomfortable, no padding on seat and hurt my rear a bit. My partners extremly tall, thought be in booth as 1x was available but on small table. Not much room when food, drinks, sauces etc arrive. When our food had arrived...it wasnt what i ordered at all.😒 Fair enough they changed it, but my partners Fish did NOT look like cod😒😥🤦🏽‍♀️ n like mine at all! if anything it looked like plaice!! When questioned about Fish, they said it was??..didnt look convincing enough answer to me, plus they already fluffed up my order prior so i really dont think it was Cod. Down to the end Of his meal eating fish...there was exposure of skin left on and just looked off putting, as MY Cod had no such scale/skin grey/brown markings on fish, the flatness of flesh, the lack of crispness on batter. DIsappointing in one word! The manager did offer to cook another fish..or 1/2 fish as towards end of meal the skin/grey brown bits were visable and off putting to my partner to eat. Texturely n visually just looked horrid and not like Cod. BY this point in meal, my partner was starting to hit the full mark..and would have been a waste if cooked again. The chips were strange tasting, overcooked like twice fryed😥, not fluffy infact no really consistency today...skin covered all over them...and horrid black spots and muddy marks on chips, so off putting! Dry, tasteless n tasted exactly like school canteen chips of old, infact schools was alot better!! Sort your chip/potato supplier out cause they not right a all! Had addition of onion rings this time, generous on portion size...but batter horrid, oily n old tastting. like the batter mix was not right has fallin off onion before you could place in mouth, so disappointing. I took rest home for my kids to try as they love fresh onion rings, and both said there horrible, oily n falling off the onion, like batter mix too loose, old oily taste too. Curry sauce was gross😒 an insult to curry sauce. Weird taste to it, dont know if cinnamon spiced or what but way to fruity n not nice taste either. if that was fresh, then chuck it out in bin n start again..but seriously taste like instant, cheaply made chinese curry sauce not Chippy curry sauce...chuck that in bin too!!! The staff are lovely but very young. They accomadated anything we required, but with being propmted 1st by me, asking for things etc. I feel like it was just too laided back, not lead by authority or managed well...staff took time to notice us for bill to be paid, no sort of atmosphere, no music, its tiny for sit down and at full capacity? Just not enough room. Staff needs direction and more experienced older staff to direct them properly. ONe custoner got up to approach them to pay bill...i Had To Ask myself for bill after waiting a while, just wanted to pay and go. I hate to say this but some of the staff in 1st and 2nd visit need to address there footwear situation. Muddy n dirty footwear working with food and serving to public in establishe historic Warwick town, is off putting. Please use footcovers at least, no infact clean them!! It makes me wonder about state now of food being served and cleanliness, if you cant be bothered to clean your footwear, how do u care for the food. Its ran by very young team..feel like it needs direction alot. So disapointed and theyve lost a huge lovers of fish n chips.

Amazing food, perfectly cooked with unlimited chips. Great service and lovely location in the town. Well worth a visit, either eat in the restaurant or takeaway. Can’t wait to go back again.

What has happened to the Chip shed!!?!? It's now terrible and will not go back there standards have dropped massively from old and since moving to new shop.

I'm a British army veteran, me and my work colleague both got food poisoning after having meal at Warwick chip shed branch. Complaint about this online the next day, but seems like no one bothers to even follow up. Food poisoning was most probably because of ketchup that doesn't have any expiry date (as it's being refilled continously, definitely not being washed) the nozzle of the ketchup was open and sticky because of spillage. Anyway, I am not the person who writes the review, but this issue made me do it. Hope they look after their refilled ketchup bottle/ fish or vinegar or oil. Unexpectedly, bad experience!

Our first time eating at The Chip Shed in Warwick, and it was a great experience. I opted for the battered sausage and chips, which was both tasty and not greasy, as it can sometimes be. The curry sauce that accompanied the dish was delicious, adding an extra layer of flavour to an already fantastic meal. It's a must-visit spot for anyone craving traditional British comfort food done right.

Great food and good gluten free selection

The gluten free fish and chips are almost to die for. This is the best chippy in my opinion in a 5 mile radius.

Firstly, the server tossing the Scampi was eating which I thought was not allowed. Secondly when I got home most of the scampi was full of dirt, some had been cleaned but not many. I am aware that this is safe but it’s bad preparation and made me feel sick that I had to clean them myself.

Good service and food. Bottomless chips is great. If only they had bottomless soda as well. Daughter loved her burger, altho she thought it was too big. My shrimp was good, but after seeing the wife's and BiLs fish, wish I had gotten it instead.

Used to be really nice and fresh but the quality of the last few orders has gone massively downhill! The chips are almost inedible and the fish has been tasting like old oil. Please get the quality back to what it was because it really is a shame.

The chips are by far the best thing on the menu. I have been a few times and there’s one (older looking) lady that has been quite rude to customers and myself (wasn’t just a “one off”) The other staff have good customer service. The food is nice though :)

Take out service - can't comment on the restaurant - very disappointing. As soon as I opened the box I could tell there was something strange, the chips were just too perfectly uniformly golden. No little crisp bits, no soggy centers with crisp outsides - just didn't look like chip shop chips. Then my husband mentioned that he was surprised they used frozen chips - he had seen them tipped into the fryer. I could cook frozen chips myself!!! Also I know how much frozen chips cost & the price charged at the chip shed is extortionate compared to other local chip shops. Taste wise - they were just dull, nothing to make me want to go back. Total waste of money - the search for a good chippy in Warwick continues - this is NOT it!

The best fish and chips ever, worth a special journey just for the experience.

Fish and chips are mediocre. I don’t understand why chip shop charge service charge for 2 people! We didn’t get any service worth a service charge also food was not anything special. There was no mention of service charge in menu also. Overpriced for what it is.

Ordered a takeaway from here and it was 10/10. We got the battered halloumi, chips and a pot of gravy for £10 - including the delivery fee! Would definitely come again and recommend this place to friends.

Found this "plaice" today while walking through Warwick. What a find! Food Amazing. Service Amazing. Really chilled out vibe. Will definitely be returning on my next visit to Warwick. Keep up the good work gents!!

Really lovely gluten-free cod and chips. Crispy batter and tasty chips. And..... You can get a free top-up of chips! My fish was so huge and tasty that I didn't need any extra, but I liked the fact I could if I wanted. Staff were lovely. Atmosphere was ok.

Awful experience, order was late being prepared, staff were rude and food quality very poor, most of it went in the bin. Photo is a very small sample of the food. Emailed the company to raise feedback four weeks ago, no reply received……

We were staying for a few nights in Warwick. This place had very good reviews. Lived up to every one. Fantastic fish and chips. Free refills on chips if needed. Can highly recommend

Quality food, however the taste isn't very fine grade. They use classic beef dripping which is a bit harsh to me.

Ordered the cod and chips on deliveroo. Super quick service; food arrived hot, had generous portions and very crunchy fish as well as chips. I mistakenly got sent the gravy instead of curry sauce but that was okay too.

Nice looking shop, friendly staff but for the price the food was not great - almost certain the chips are frozen. For the price would expect fresh fluffy chips but overall food is ok.

The food was amazing with free chip refills. Though was a bit shocked at the £50+ bill for 2 milkshakes, a coke, 2 burgers and chips and one burger for my daughter (no chips). But it was delicious. I'll save up for the next visit.

Happen to stumble pass this fish and chips shop after a day of sightseeing in Warwick. Had the cod and calamari. Both were amazing. Batter was perfect. Fish was yummy.

Not the cheapest but I was thoroughly impressed with our take away last night. Some of the best fish that I've ever had, great chips and probably my new favourite curry sauce. The chicken nuggets that my kids had were amazing too, no processed rubbish here and in a lovely slightly spiced batter. Highly recommend

As the we were promised award winning food that's what we thought we would get. There were four of us. Two had the Cod and Chips. The fish was good but the batter tasted of the oil and we took it off. It was as if the oil hadn't been changed soon enough. One had the Steak Pie and it was véry dry as if it had been kept warm for to long. One had the Vegetable Pie. It was OK but nothing to fetch us back.

Great food, good service and reasonable prices. Would highly recommend, definitely worth a visit.

We were visiting Warwick and stumbled across The Chip Shed, and what a great find it was. The fish was fabulous with light batter which left no after taste of heavy fat. Refillable chips, who would have thought 😀 The service was great and I loved the place. Highly recommend The Chip Shed to anyone visiting Warwick.

Upmarket fish and chip shop in centre of Warwick which has eating in and takeaway options. We turned up without a reservation on a Friday night and they were able to accommodate us. Used to be the go to for fish and chips locally, but the past few times have been well below the previous standards - batter too crispy and thick, fish average and chips aren’t great: overcooked and lots of small crispy bits. Not sure why things have changed, but they need to up their game.

If you are in Warwick, perfect for fish&chips. Perfect service, very friendly waiter. The fish & chips are really good and quantity accordingly. Nice and clean place. I would return without a doubt.

Great chips and fish! Large portions, enough to share. Free chip/fry refills if you eat in. Local potatoes, butcher, and dairy. Christmas brussel sprouts were really good.

We enjoyed the fish (Cod) and chips and a fish cake for take out late at night. The order was prepared quickly and correctly. The place was clean. Next time we are in Warwick, we will likely order from there again.

They charged us for gratuity with no permission. We had lunch, a couple of fish&chips, not cheap at all... £16.10! After paying, checked the ticket later and found that they charged £2.94 with no permission, absolutely unacceptable. This can't happen, gratuity is an option not a given.

Love the food here, the curry sauce is awesome. The staff on our recent visit were terrible. We were seated at a dirty table and then sat for several minutes looking at our food while the serving staff ignored it and did other stuff. I finally went and got it myself! We felt really unwelcome and for quite an expensive lunch we felt very flat. It will be a while before I go back.

Amazing fish and chips and they do gluten free every day in a separate fryer - they even have GF vinegar! Also great for non-gf with lots of options.

Previously left a 5 star review...after having it twice a week for a year it was amazing, ild tell everyone how great it is... However, we've not been back for a year since leaving the area and was SO excited.... But left REALLY disappointed... 7 quid for chips and mushy peas (fritter) is ridiculous.... And yet we got what seemed like cheap pub chips... Dry... Dry mushy pea fritters and weak batter... Actually kind of glad it was rubbish. Means we won't miss it anymore. Done me a favour lol

Just had take away fish and chips for 3. Really poor standard of food that does not reflect the restaurants presentation. Dry, stale chips. “Mixed kebab meat and salad” was a tiny portion of chopped pepper, lettuce and cucumber with a huge dumping of donner meat and so no mixed meat whatsoever. Fish portion was admittedly fresh and tasty but the chips and kebab dish made me feel like this place has gone down hill since first opening. Down to St John’s next time

Visited this place twice now upon recommendations from online reviews. The first time I visited, it was so good that we felt the need to visit again! The food here is lovely, and has a real fresh taste to it. Both times I've visited, I've gone for the classic cod and chips, however people I've been with have tried other items off the menu and been equally impressed. The small chip baskets that are given with the meal are refillable, but given that the portion size of the fish is good, you might not need it! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Warwick, and I'm sure I'll be visiting again in the coming months!

Far too expensive. Eat in cod and chips was double the price of take away. Eat in menu prices not shown until at table. Not convinced that the fish was cod, as very thin and not flakey and white.
