Fish was under cooked very greasy batter was white so was sausage n batter this chippy wasn’t like this before under previous owner it’s gone from good to very bad

I did order three large cod fish And large chips, they put tow of the fish in one box, and they was sticking to each other, No sauce, no lemon no salt. Nothing come with our order which we pay &38 pounds for that.. Definitely will be my last time I went there wasting money.

Always advertising to be open on days they're not. Lack of updating Google hours. This is mostly due to the staff shortages and the ever changing management that has also led to quality issues, problems that have been going on for over a year now, but it's getting really old. Just stop advertising you're open when you have no intention of doing so as you can't expect customer loyalty this way. Despite having driven to the shop at least 5 times over the past years and the shop being closed, I've still been coming but not sure if I'll continue to.

Popped in for dinner this evening and I have to say I’ve got no complaints. They was busy but as they took our order advised us there would be a bit of a wait! Which I don’t mind as long as I know, food was delicious we had cod and chips the portions was perfect all in all very happy.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but as this was one of my favourites I'm not sure what happened to this place. I think it's been sold and now under new management. There has been a severe drop off of quality, no longer are the fish and potatoes fresh. The chips are now greasy, the fish very wet and the sides are lacking in the quality they used to have. I understand the cost of living and whatnot, but it would have been better to up the prices a little bit and keep the quality, but instead it looks like the prices are hiked and corners cut, really disappointing. It used to be a step above all other chip shops in the area, now it's just another chip shop.

Fresh,yummy food my Cod was cooked to perfection would highly recommend.. Food is much better with the new Management so I’ve started going again.

Stopped on way home for a late meal. Excellent piece of fish & chips, l chose Cod it was hot and had lots of flavour and best of all cooked when ordered so a little wait but very worth while. Packed in smart box to keep it good to eat at home. Really good service and nice people

This was our go to place whenever we wanted fish and chips. We didn’t visit since the birth of our child and the visit this weekend was such a disappointment. The new management has completely ruined the taste. The fish is way too soggy and the option of having grilled fish has been taken out. The food wasn’t complete. We paid for large haddock and chips but when we came home chips were missing. All in all a very horrible experience. Won’t be going there again!

Is this under new management? Service was terrible, the staff were too busy chatting to a friend who came in and forgot to cook my chips, so had to wait twice as long with my fish getting cold.

Had cod and chips in the evening, twice recently, and it has been fantastic. Huge fresh pure white fish, cooked to perfection, and good chips. Well done!

The food used to be so good. Not sure if it’s under new ownership but the last couple of times I’ve been it’s been really disappointing and expensive. Won’t be back

Probably the best Fish & Chip shop I've been to in the area. Everything tastes fresh. I do feel bad that they are getting bad reviews mainly due to third party delivery partners! Only reason I can't give 5* is because of the sporadic opening times! Have passed so many times on my way home for a chippy tea and it's closed! (Picture strangely enough was 7pm on a Monday - AND IT WAS SHUT) :-(

Oh dear😔. We used to be regular customers of The Chip Club but it has changed hands and gone downhill massively. Menu has been stripped back. They don't do any of our favourites that made it stand out from any other chippy. We were disappointed on the last few visits. Order was wrong, poor portion sizes, luke warm. Addressed with the owner/manager. Gave us a fresh order with bottle of ketchup as a fix. Decided today to give it one last try. Staff all new, again! Fish was bland, chips were luke warm. Portions of the chips was sad. Despite this it was expensive at £19+ for 1 x medium chips, 9 x halloumi chips, cod goujons and a battered sausage. I'm afraid our love affair with chip club is over. We won't be going back.

Wasn't as bad for me as it was for some of the recent reviewers but not as good as it used to be.

Has this place changed hands ? The last time we went there it was really nice,sadly they have really gone downhill. We might have been unlucky .But judging by the absence of the usual queue I guess not

Chips only. Looked fine. Got home and they were totally inedible. Obviously just dunked in and out the fryer. Charged me £4.40 for that rubbish. They clearly have little idea/dont care how to cook fish and chips properly. Will not return.

I have just had a take away meal from your restaurant disgusting chips hard and dry . fish soggy and my curry sauce was a congealed cold lump

So sad that this place hasn’t upped its game :( We previously used TCC on a regular basis however quality really went downhill so have avoided for some time. Tonight we decided to give it another go and after spending over £35 on tasteless, uncooked, reheated, poor portioned food we most definitely will not be returning.

The Chip Club used to be so good, even through lockdown when they could open. I thought it would be heaving, as I’d always known it to be, but it was empty. They used to cook to order but there were loads of food already cooked under the heated glass. Despite this, I treated myself this evening to the WORST cod & chips EVER and it cost me over £10.00. The batter was so hard and greasy I struggled to cut it, the chips were overcooked/reheated. I live a 4min drive and it was closer to cold than lukewarm when I got home. Previously you’d get home and it’d be still piping hot. They also no longer provide tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon. The serving staff didn’t wear hats to prevent contamination. I’m am so disappointed with how bad it has become because when they first opened it was brilliant. Suffice to say I won’t be wasting my money there again and I’m all about supporting local shops and businesses.

Really disappointed. Long wait (it’s all about the deliveries) Ordered 15mins before closing time, took it home (I live around the corner) my wife said it didn’t look great (we’ve had meals from them before several times) For £11 it was poor…. Overcooked fish and the chips really scraping the bottom of the barrel. I don’t mind scraps as a ‘bonus’ with my chips, but not as the ‘main event’.

No way as good as before. Food greesy. Put prices up. Got order wrong. Gave us something else instead of cod which was the tale rubbish.

We have been here a few times but today is the limit.The chips my husband brought home were inedible,pale,limp ,undercooked -what more can I say?Sort yourselves out CHIPCLUB-it’s easy to cook chips!!!!!!

I’ve been looking for a decent chippy for a while now. I know this place is a little pricey for fish and chips but it’s well worth it. We ordered for collection via the Uber eats app. When we picked up food was ready on time and hot. Between 2 We ordered curry sauce (probably need one pot each), 1 medium chips (it’s a generous portion) and a large cod each. The batter on the cod was perfect. I’ll definitely be a regular here highly recommend

If I could give one star I would I have the used the chip club all the time never again order at 5.45 and get the order at 8.33 cold

I collected a takeaway from here today from ordering from the website. The food was pretty much cold when we arrived home after a 6 minute drive. None of the orders tasted as if they had vinegar on as requested and they completely forgot to add the curry sauce. I called to speak to them where I received terrible customer service. The lady who answered informed that they had realised they had forgotten to add the curry sauce but we’d already left. In which they could have called to say as they have my number on the system from the order. Was only offered to be refunded the curry sauce or to go back and collect it. Absolute let down as I ordered the same food a couple weeks ago and it was lovely.

Before writing this I have to confess that I have never rated The Chip Club. I have complained to them before that bearing in mind their name their chips are the worst I have had from any local shop. They are overcooked, hard and bitty. Perhaps they need to change their name. However because they are so close I want to give them the benefit of the doubt which I did this evening I went to the shop and wanted to order plaice among other things, but was told they don’t have any plaice. I also noticed that you have to order inside and wait outside. Like I’m going to do that in the rain!! They lost the order tonight. I went to the Seashore fish kitchen in Surbiton. Firstly they seemed happy to serve me. Then it seems there is not a shortage of plaice after all and I’m guessing that the Chip Club just didn’t order theirs. Also the chips at Seashore were like proper chip shop chips and there were plenty of them. Also, I could wait IN the shop whilst it was cooked so no wet hair for me tonight. Sorry Chip Club but you’ve had your.........Chips!! I will not bother with you any more and will be going to Surbiton from now on. They actually stock fish and like having customers in their shop.

So apparently if you order a Large Haddock from here on a Friday, you are likely to be missed out because it's so busy.Having asked for a tip on how we could possibly wait for less than an hour for food after calling and placing an order headed girl behind the counter

We had a Friday fish and chip meal and we were shocked at how small the Large haddock and chips were the Cod and chips was okay, I felt disappointed because when we come in and order the fish is a Large as we pay for, so I feel that ordering on line has made a difference to the size of the fish.

Love this place. Always busy in here which is a good sign. Food is always hot and fresh and they have the best battered sausage I have ever eaten. Well done guys!

For a company called the chip club their chips are awful. They never seem to be freshly cooked,, they are shrivelled, have black bits on them and most are slithers and not proper chips.

Food very good - service is professional - surprised just how busy they were, obviously very popular.

This is my favourite chip shop in Kingston. Always fresh food and everything on the menu tastes delighful. There is a lot of choice on the menu so you will never get bored. All fish is cooked to order and its definitely worth the wait. I really enjoy the curry sauce and the battered halloumi. Would definitely recommend.

Every time I stop by to see friends I drop by this place. I’m always greeted and served in a friendly manner, best fish and chips hands down

Just got chips etc.. the chips were really gross! No flavour, strange powder texture... actually tasted horrible.

Had a large cod which was huge so 5 stars for that. Mushy peas tasted like they’d been scraped off a week old pot so 1 star for that and the chips didn’t seem very fresh and were just warm so another 1 star for those.

Cooked to order, nicest I've ever had. Crispy batter & beautifully cooked fish. Kind of lifting fish'n'chips to a gourmet experience which I wasn't expecting....given the exceptional quality, I can swallow the price

I was very satisfied with the quality of the food. Medium size chips are more than enough for two people. However note, that this restaurant is focusing on take-away, so there are no tables inside and no toilets nearby.

I really liked this place. The guy was super kind. Excellent service. Interesting variety in both fish (calamari & scampi as well!) and chips (piri piri,sweet potato & halloumi) plus a board states where the fish came from (even the name of the boat!). Very tasty food. Great addition - the wooden cutlery! A modern fish & chips shop everyone in the area should visit!

Top quality chips fish and chicken. Only thing is everything is a little bit over priced. I feel if the whole menu was around 30-50p cheaper it would better reflect what you actually are getting. But aside from that I will keep returning!

Great tasting fish and chips. Lots of traditional items on menu including pickles, and sausages . They do gluten free batter as well , and the Halloumi chips are fantastic. Prices are reasonable and you can call in your order.

Recently came to the Kingston area and fancied and fish & chips but instantly remembered all the soggy chip, greasy fish experiences I’ve had in the past.

For the 3rd time I have had a rediculous wait time. This time having ordered on the phone and told 25 minutes i went to the store and my food still wasn’t ready and finally appeared 40 minutes from the time I ordered on the phone. My partner was told that they had been busy, sorry not our problem and this isn’t the first time.

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered at 7.30. First part of order arrived at 7.30. Rang restaurant to see where remainder of order was. They said it was being delivered and therefore was not there responsibility. Waited until 8.15 for remainder of order by which time original delivery was to say the least in poor condition to eat. The order was for 10 people. So my advice is if you are ordering for a large number of people give this place a miss. It appears the delivery company are limited to how much they can carry. Pity we were not told that when when we ordered. Not sure why a restaurant can blame another company for poor service. The delivery company was Deliveroo.

We visited The Chip Club on a visit to Kingston upon Thames. The best fish and chips and excellent value for money i have had in a long time. Couple this with excellent service by the pleasant staff in a modern environment all make this a must visit place near the river.

Friday fish and chips for the family. Good selection of fish all freshly cooked to order. Details of where all produce sourced on display. Very busy so expect to wait but worth it.

A friend of mine recommended the Fried Chicken which was excellent and it came with Proper Chips unlike some places. I returned to try the Haddock. Very good as well. We will be back

Excellent fish and chips, lovely service and friendly staff it's a brilliant chippy and a hidden gem in Kingston. Never had a bad bit of food and I think I've tried most of the menu by now.

Really good quality fish & chips. These guys know their stuff! I had haddock, chips & mushy peas. Can’t fault them on anything. Succulent haddock, light batter, fresh chips, even the vinegar they used was high quality. Loved how they’ve decorated the place. Trendy, contemporary and love the tiles. Will be back again

I love the chip club so much food is always fresh and crispy. Serving other items like hallumi and chicken is great cos you can switch it up. Chips always amazing and very friendly customer service. Went with some mates and a friend of mine ordered some sweet potatoe chips, unfortunately he didn’t like them so they changed it to normal chips for free. Lovely. Big up.

Although this chippie has changed names more times than Sean Combs, it remains really good! Portions are generous, and the fish cooked fresh to order. Recently started to do fried chicken and other items too, so may need to try them out!

Really enjoyed our takeaway. The fish was cooked beautifully and the chips were awesome. Large portions and all freshly cooked. We weren't very keen on their curry sauce but it didn't matter as we fully enjoyed everything else. Worth every penny and will be returning!

Came in late after a meal went tits up with family and friends and couldn't fault the service and quality! More than happy with Giorgio, the chatty and friendly owner. Took the time to ask how our night was and was good conversation while waiting.

Honestly I’d say the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The fish and chips are so nice, and I also had some halloumi fries which were delicious. Really great value for money as you get loads of food and I couldn’t even finish it despite wanting to. My friend had the calamari and it was like it was from a Michelin star restaurant. Superb. Recommend.

Lovely food - chips large chunky - piping hot and not greasy - very tasty. The sausage in batter was delicious - batter fresh - thin and tasty - also piping hot. Food was definitely freshly cooked - packaged in sturdy box - great idea. Perhaps slightly pricey but worth every penny. Strongly recommended.

When this place was Lucca's it was one of the best chippys I'd ever been to. Just had the new version (Chip Club) and not only was the fish overbattered, it had the skin left on? Disgusting. Chips definitely not as good, soggy instead of crispy, thick and undercooked. My opinions have been confirmed by my 6yo who loves fish and chips, she left it all mostly untouched. I note the prices have not changed, and this location was not cheap in any its renditions so will NOT be visiting again.

I visited here on Friday night with my partner after work. We ordered a large portion of chips to share, a steak pie and a portion of gravy, and asked for them to be in separate boxes as my partner is vegetarian and we didn't want the food to be cross contaminated.

After writing 2 glowing previous reviews for Luccas, I was surprised on my recent visit to see that it had changed hands/ had a revamp.

The food is of decent quality but expensive. Seating is no longer available and there are no meal deals so it's a little disappointing.

I don’t live in the area in fact anywhere near but I was passing and fancied fish and chips. I ordered the regular cod and chips, very well presented in a box and a carrier bag the staff were polite and my order was absolutely delicious cooked perfectly. Highly recommended.
