The best around, evidenced by the number of staff inside keeping the process going and the continuous queue which can stretch outside waiting. If people are happy to queue outside for something in Scotland then it must be good. They also deliver which means you don't need to queue outside these days.

My gdad grew up in temple, took my dad here, and I've always been taken here since. Generational chippy. The best in Glasgow hands down. Best fritters in the world too, if you can get them in time 😉

Decent grub special fish & chips are a must have & equi ice cream

Absolutely delicious pizza, took a while come but a Friday night....worth the wait.

Used to absolutely love this chippy but the past three times have been pretty poor. Tonight, got a sausage supper and a bag of chips- £10.60, fairly standard prices but portion of chips and amount of lukewarm chips with sausages was so small too. I’m not a fan of huge portions and don’t have a massive appetite but this was honestly like a child or OAP portion- totally ridiculous. Sausages were average at best. Been similarly average the past two times but we kept hoping it was an off night and not a pattern.

This place used to be the best, I'd choose this over gennaros on gwr. The last FIVE times I've been its been worse everytime (kept giving benefit of the doubt that it was just a bad night, I was wrong.) Everything is either undercooked or stale. The attitude from staff is disgusting and make you feel uncomfortable, staring and talking amongst themselves aswell. What a shame, I can see from the other reviews that I'm not the only one.

Was driving by Monday night, went in and bought a single special fish. Two big lovely looking slices came out from the small back fryer, which I thought was a bit odd. Thought what a bargain only £7.10. One the way home the fish didn’t break up like a normal fresh fish would. Cutting into the fish it didn’t crumble, it was brick hard & tasteless in fact it was uneatable. In my opinion this fish is bought in frozen? I definitely won’t be back. Not a patch on the Philadelphia in Summerston.

Horrible service, the staff had attitude towards us when they forgot one of our items and refused us a refund!!! We collected the order and check everything was there in-front of them as soon as they handed over our food over. We payed £42 for for 4 suppers!!! NOT CHEAP and we only received 3 suppers. As I we walked out the woman shouted racial slurs towards me. THEY SHPULD BE REPORTED

Well some customer service that is 🤣. Ordered a family meal for collection and went to go and collect it. Walked in and the women’s face was already tripping her, let is slide and waited for my order. Once was ready it was packed into paper not even with a bag but yet again I just got on my way and thanked her for my order.went all the way home only to find out they had missed a fish supper, called back and the women was denying saying it was under another supper to which it was not there.we then asked for a refund to which was told I either come back or “get it next time”. As I went back into the place the women looked and me and ignored me to which I was asked if I was being served to be told she was making it followed by more attitude from the women. What was once a a good place has turned to a shambles. Wont be back 👌🏼

Have used this chip shop for many years probably once a week but recently disappointed with some of the food. Pizza good ,but chips not so good and very poor portions a few times recently.Also bought portion of fritters all stuck togetger and to the bag,not so worth the money now .

The special fish from this chippy is amazing. So fresh and the chips are really good as well. Some great lunchtime deals

I have not been to this place in years, We went the other day to buy our dinner, the staff were busy making orders and my order was freshly cooked. The shop is very clean.

Bought chips around 6.15 tonight.. they were dry and horrible.. £3.40 a portion..the standards have really dropped in this chippy.. even the fish is not the same as it used to be.. the staff seem to change every week also.. poor show.. would not go back

This is one of my go to chippies but tonight the food was below par for some reason. The chips tasted like they do when you reheat them the special fish batter was wrong and soggy the normal fish batter was soggy. The sausage batter also soggy as were the fritters. Usually a great chippy but not tonight 02/03/2024. Maybe the fryers not reaching the correct temperature. All four people who ate this commented on it not tasting good and didn't believe we had bought it from the chip chik. Hopefully just a one off.

This shop has been a favourite of ours for 20+ years, food always fabulous… until our most recent couple of orders. From their rude & couldn’t be bothered attitude on the phone to the burnt pizza & rotten lard tasting chips! so disappointing! We thought it had perhaps changed hands ??

Inconsistency, that's the problem with this place. Chips were undercooked, probably trying to keep up with the rush, asked for curry sauce and got a pitiful amount. Last time we were here, I probably would have given 4 stars, today it was not so good. The previous visit, the chips were decent and the sauce was plentiful. Quality of the counter staff also varies a lot, today the server somehow thought I mentioned cheese when the word never passed my lips.

I've been going to this chip shop, since it won the Glasgow Guardian, best chip shop. I've never Had so much as , a bad chip from this place! The chippy ever ! 👌👍

HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN!! What was for at least the last 20 year the best chippy in Glasgow . Fish & Chips were horrible, soggy, warm (always used to be crisp!) The Chips were odds and ends of small pieces = just inedible. Price gone sky high for a much inferior product. One more strike and its goodbye to a once great shop!

My wife and I are from New York. My wife attended Glasgow university. Being from New York I think I know good food. While my wife studied, I traveled around Scotland enjoying the country and the food. I tried food and dozens of chippy shops around Scotland. Many of them with awards in the window. But chip chick inn around the corner from our flat hands down best fish and chips I had. And I enjoy the regular fish over the special. Portions were big and fish and the chips great. Also fritters one of my favorite items. I put them on everything.

1st time here since my mum passed 2.5 years ago her and my dad loved the chip chick inn. What a waste of £18.60 Special fish cold, sausage cold and chips cold what a waste of money. Special fish all broken up ( see attached photo), my dad had special fish out here 40 years ago and it was better looking tasting and definitely warmer. Mr capaldi would be ashamed to see quality of food being served to the local people he used to fight for not to pay VAT on their chippy dinner. Defo won’t be back which is a shame cause it used to be one of the best chippies in Glasgow if not Scotland!

Wow, chips were brown and stale and portion size small for price. Don't listen to the hype, years back Chip Chic Inn was the best chippy in area. Not anymore! Gennaro's near train station is much better quality now. Their chips are amazing in comparison!

Quality isn't great anymore. The chips used to be so good, the best chips in Glasgow. Now, at the price of £3.20 for one portion of chips which is very small, I absolutely feel robbed. Quality was such a let down.

Delivery driver went to wrong door left didn't phone to check finally came back very sour food cold 12.85 for fish supper ??? This was good years ago but disappointed now. My brother in law used to service fridges etc years would be so disappointed. Don't know if same family

I think it's Fulton Street,up from Anniesland Cross, Glasgow. Food was nice enough,cooked from frozen in the batter,so a bit greasy. Service quick and with a smile. Prices reasonable. It was dinner time so busy busy. Only issue is that it is near a t junction and can be difficult to park,apart from that,nice chippy

The food here is brilliant but I have a few messages for the staff: @young staff - it is not okay the way your managers are speaking to you. If this is your first job, you can do way better. You should never let anyone speak to you or put you down the way I've witnessed. @managers - it is shocking the way fully grown men are speaking to children, in front of customers. If you speak to them the way I've witnessed, you must be speaking to them even worse when customers aren't present. There is no way any level of stress makes your behaviour acceptable. Get a grip of yourself.

Been ordering from here for a long time foods usually spot on but tonight it was an utter waste of money. Waited 2 hours for the delivery. The food wasn’t up to the usual standards when we called for an update and Was informed they only have one driver if she had said at this point it’s going to take another hour would have cancelled

Food was ok but the portions were extremely small, one of the fish suppers amounted to roughly half of a normal fish but living 4 miles away it was too much hassle to go back and complain sorry

Rolls crispy. Chips brilliant. Pickle, came in a plastic bag. Could remind you of something else, shall we say. I did stand about and began to think I was a ghost, waiting on service, even though I was the only person standing there. So that was a bit strange. I'm putting it down to my social awkwardness and the fact that they are all very young people serving. Anyway, I'll, for sure, go back, and I'll wear something much brighter next time and maybe take a kazoo. Great grub!

Place was heaving - for good reason. Fritters and chips were excellent and the fish was good - probably the best in the area.

Avoid delivery the order was suppose be two special fish but was a special fish and breaded fish that arrived the batter was sticking to the paper and missing two bottles juice that was ordered never again will order online and phone just rang out.

Quite a long line but chips were worth the wait. Only complaint is pack of vegan options.

This chip shop started way back in time at Whiteinch where I was brought up. Every Friday our family would have a fish tea and we looked forward to that. They are still the best as far as I am concerned. Sadly with the cost of living etc. we don't go every Friday night, but when we do it's still a real treat and the service is excellent too.

Recently moved to the area and really wanted to try this place. Wish we hadn’t bothered. Gravy was just cold brown water. Ordered half a pizza supper and it was the smallest half a pizza Iv ever seen and the staff kindly placed it onto my chips in such a way that the chips were all stuck to the top and 1/4 of the pizza ended up with no cheese on it. Portions were rubbish and batter on the sausage was soggy. Chips were soggy and greasy too. Should have listened to the other reviews ! Would complain but looking at past reviews there’s no point 👎🏻

Got a pizza and some onion rings. The delivery took a long time and our food was luke warm when it arrived. We had to reheat the pizza and onion rings in the oven for 5mins or so. Normally though the food arrives piping hot 🔥 so not sure what happened.

Absolutely disgraceful attitude & service Called in again last night 28/10/2022 for a special 2-piece fish supper costing just under £10. The big boss working at the frier, deliberately got the young guy serving me, to take out two already cooked special fish slices from the top keep warm oven above the frier, that very obviously had been in there for a considerable and totally unacceptable time, that had dried out & shrunk a bit, the fish and batter to make it tough to chew compared to a freshly fried battered fish slice. Unfortunately I was home 3 minutes away by car and could not be bothered returning it and requesting a freshly cooked supper as I had to do at this eatery a few years ago for the very same reason. If I'm paying the extortionate price of just under a tenner for a supper, consisting of 2 medium sized fish slices and, possibly, one large potato sliced n fried, then I want to be guaranteed it's freshly cooked and nice to eat. The owner or boss here, definitely needs a watching and immediately pulled up if caught doing this to unsuspecting paying customers.

Long time customer and ordered 2 pizzas this evening. Arrived home and they are burnt to a crisp. After calling and politely informing the manager we asked for a replacement at a later date and was told to get back up there immediately or nothing. Shocking customer service. Pizza is inedible. Won’t be back.

I have been a customer for 50 years and 3 generations of the family business. They have all kept up the standards.

I've just moved to the area and can already tell I'll be visiting here often! Great portion sizes, very good prices and friendly staff serving very tasty food. Only downside is the queues but of course, just a sign of a good chippy and worth the weight!

They may be good at some things, but pizzas are not one of them. Pretty expensive and extremely disappointing.

Best fish takeaway I've possibly ever had. It really is that good, none of that getting half way through and thinking it's too oily or the batter has gone mushy, great from the first bite to the last. Can't quite believe I'm this excited about a takeaway but my kitchen is getting replaced so had to try a few local places and pretty happy I did.

Ordered a home delivery recently order was wrong we received less than we paid for. I phoned the shop to report this to be told they would contact the delivery driver that was the last contact we received no offer to correct the order and as far as I know no refund received / or offered. Very disappointed due to the fact we have used this chip shop for over 25 yrs as have family members . I understand mistakes happen but lack of communication I felt was really poor .

There was a wait whilst they put fresh fish on - clean & well run place though and they prepared an enjoyable meal. Would visit again.

Very very very poor delivery service,food cold after 2hour wait. I and my family have been customers of the Chip Chick for longer than I care to remember. I am sorry to say the business has diterited from what used to be the best Chippy in the West of Glasgow to it present to state? I called around 7.50pm last night to place an order,the girl taking the call told me both my cards had been declined?? Then said your bank may charge you these amounts but don't worry you should be refunded very suspicious and I have made my bank and card provider aware of this. This meant I either provided details of another card or cancelled the order. I decided to cancel but will watch for funds being taken and act accordingly . My wife then decided to call her order was taken with no problem except the almost 2 hour wait for cold greasy food that wee binned the majority of. I will bring this to the attention of the owners as I have known them and there late father throughout the years and feel they should be made aware this. Sorry to say I won't be ordering again 😞 unless it's in person and I can see what Iam paying for!! Can I finally add and suggest you order online and delivery service is NOT WORKING I would also look at either re training or getting new staff??

Poor customer service skills almost non existent, rude staff, poor quality food, you are lucky if you get 10 decent chips, the rest are all crisps bits. Not worth the money, went to gennaro's, lovely staff high quality food, i would advise to go there.

Poor service, waited nearly two hours for food, after placing it ASAP on the app, i would have been better picking a time, because it was well after that, then a child was sent out the car with chips and no pizza, told him, he went back and asked his dad who said check the boot, so your food is kept in the boots, very unhygienic, wont be ordering from here again.

02/09/21 Bought a haggis supper, and this was the rubbish I got, scrappy lukewarm chips and a haggis with hardly any batter causing it to be hard on the outside and lava hot on the inside burning the mouth. Got a cheek charging £5.20 for this mediocre rubbish. A handful of chips, doubt there's even two decent baking potato's worth. Had better chips and suppers from the street vans in Govanhill. Never thought I'd say this but Gennaro's is now the better chippy. Compare it to the second photo which is of the same thing but from Freddie's Food Club, which was amazing by the way.

Ordered 2 half pizza suppers and 2 tubs of gravy. Asked for them to cut pizza in to quarters and extra crispy. But the staff memeber couldn't understand what that meant. So that was a massive explanation to even make an order. I then asked how long the order would be and was told half an hour. When the order arrived it was over an hour later from the call. The pizza was not cooked in quarters and the gravy was slightly warm and like water. The food was disgusting and wouldn't order from here again

Quality of food has deteriorated in recent months. Chips especially are soggy, greasy, chewy and taste of old re-used fat. Been going here for years and it used to be great. Don't know if related but there used to be a tall young guy who kept everyone on their toes. I haven't seen him about so don't think he's there now. Back to inside queuing and no social distancing so not comfortable with that. Won't be back!
