Those who have long receptions are not cooperative, and I do not advise Gulf Arabs to go to the place. Those who work in isolation and are not cooperative, and those who have dignity should not come to the place. The outdoor sessions that come because they are closed are called for maintenance, and those sitting inside are silent and free. I don't recommend anything 👎👎

We had a disappointing experience during our visit. Despite the restaurant being empty, the maître d' refused to let us sit outside, which seemed unreasonable given the circumstances. Unfortunately, the situation left us feeling uncomfortable and wondering if bias played a role in the decision. We hope the establishment takes a closer look at its policies to ensure all guests feel welcome and treated fairly.

My daughter picked this place based on a ticktock review. We went for lunch (13:30) the service was great and the food was good, not enough to return again. The hot chocolate is too dense for me. However the cream brulee was to die for, and a small portion. I ordered the crab pasta, it was good. But not for the buzz

Food is OK, definitely eaten better and it is terribly overpriced!! I can handle that, but what I hated was paying through the nose for being treated with distain and disinterest by rude and pompous staff who act like you’re a massive inconvenience to their day. Who ever the host is needs to think his career choice in hospitality because he hasn’t a hospitable bone in his body. Atmosphere is beautiful, Pinot was nice, they were the few highlights of an exorbitantly overpriced and average lunch. Could be incredible, what a terrible shame!!!

Restaurant review - of course it's outrageously staffed, priced and populated. Mind the lips as you enter through the terrace. It's also well-made food, not particularly inventive but high-grade ingredients in everything we tasted. Genius touch is all-you-can-eat tiramisu.

Came here because the hot chocolate was highly recommended. Was met with unorganized and poor service. Came with a party of 6 to which we were told that they could accommodate us at the bar area. A waiter gave us two tables next to each other to which another waiter came to tell us that we had to squeeze into a tiny table for 4 which we obviously could not fit. They were insistent we couldn’t have two tables but were eventually given two tables farther apart from each other. When we ordered, we were met with another rude staff member who wouldn’t take our orders together. She looked absolutely annoyed that we were ordering and was not helpful at all. There is a sense of arrogance and entitlement among the service staff and not a hospitable experience at all. Drinks were average at best and had nothing special to it.

I had chosen the Chiltern Firehouse instead of the Wolseley as I loved the Californian look of the restaurant. What a mistake and waste of money. We had booked a table for three in the restaurant. This was the first issue, we were led past the nice booths to a basic wooden table and chairs in the back that looked like a grotty garden centre cafe. Our waiter was very good and snacks of fried chicken and crab donuts were nice , however main courses of sirloin and a day boat fish, while technically well cooked, were hugely over priced for the size and arrived on the plate with no accompaniment . So one small piece of fish arrives on a small plate with nothing else for £45!!! Not even a garnish. There was nothing to make it special so a small boring dish which was hugely expensive. £12 for a side of creamed spinach is robbery. It’s the sort of place that if you have an unlimited in budget and but are restricted in taste, you might think is fantastic. We wish we’d gone to the Wolsey, budget would have been the same but a far better experience and a better sense of value. One last thing. When presented with the machine to pay the bill - service charge already included -you get asked to leave a further tip just for the waiter. Too late to knock off the service charge - at the prices charged can’t the hotel pay a professional wage…

Dining only (not hotel stay). I’m so over these kinds of overhyped and overpriced places in London. Hosts were not very welcoming, rather curt. Wait staff constantly pressuring us to order food/drinks every few mins. Food was basic. Teams work in silos (terrace, lounge, bar), and make no attempt to accommodate guests even with drinks left, after area closure. Sent to smoking area lounge which made our clothes reek.

A Disastrous Christmas Dinner Experience at the Children’s Firehouse Our Christmas dinner at the Children’s Firehouse in London was nothing short of a complete disaster. From start to finish, the entire experience was embarrassing, frustrating, and utterly disappointing. To begin, the hostess at the entrance couldn’t locate our table reservation. After some awkward back-and-forth, we were sent into the restaurant to inquire. Inside, the staff were just as clueless and directed us back to the entrance. It was a chaotic and humiliating start to the evening. When we were finally seated, the service was shocking. Our waiter—a young Italian man—was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He behaved more like a casual acquaintance than someone providing service at a supposedly upscale establishment. It wasn’t just him; the entire staff seemed to have an air of entitlement, acting as though they owned the place. Their attitudes were condescending, judgmental, and downright unpleasant. The food itself was mediocre at best. We ordered a variety of sharing dishes, but everything was brought out all at once, leaving our table overcrowded and chaotic. With no pacing or organization, dishes like steak and other hot items went cold before we could enjoy them. For the price we paid, the quality was nowhere near comparable to other good restaurants in London. As if the meal wasn’t bad enough, we were abruptly told to vacate the terrace at 9 PM. Despite still working on our drinks and desserts, we were made to feel rushed and unwelcome. When we asked to move indoors, we were curtly informed it was fully booked and were instead directed to the smoking room downstairs. The smoking room was an absolute nightmare. It was poorly ventilated, leaving us to endure thick, suffocating cigarette smoke. By the time we left, our clothes reeked, and it was hard to breathe—completely unacceptable for a supposedly high-end establishment. Adding to the overall discomfort, the atmosphere in the restaurant was far from warm or festive. The crowd came off as pretentious, and the staff seemed to judge customers based on appearance and attire. It was as though they determined how to treat you based on how “worthy” you looked. This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The service was abysmal, the food was average and poorly handled, and the entire evening was a letdown. I would not recommend the Children’s Firehouse to anyone—not for dinner, drinks, or even a quick visit. Save your time, money, and dignity by choosing a better venue.

I wish I could give a negative score… worst experience ever in London. The lobby receptionist staff are so rude and unprofessional! While I was taking pics of the interior, the cocktail guy stopped me and said no pics because of their policy. I asked why there is a policy for not taking pics, especially I’m just taking pics of the interiors not any guests and I’ve never heard such rules in other hotels. He asked me in a very offensive way about which hotels I have been to… I mean this is so unprofessional. I’m paying money to chill and enjoy service at your place not to be challenged about which hotels I’ve been to. Then another receptionist came to serve and then told me no laptop again….. I came to this place for food and then coffee because I got work to do. Why don’t they tell people in the first place? Nowadays cafes with roles of no laptop on weekend clearly put a sign at their door. How dare you kick someone out who paid at your place?! This place is outrageous… I’ve never seen such ridiculous place in London before! By the way the food is also not worth the price! You definitely have other tasty options elsewhere

I recently visited Chiltern Firehouse restaurant and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with their wardrobe service. After entrusting them with my coat and scarf, my scarf was lost. When I approached the staff about this, the lady at the wardrobe admitted they had misplaced it. I was assured they would contact me if it was found, but one day later, I have yet to receive a call or any update. The lack of follow-up and assistance in resolving this issue has been frustrating. For a venue of this reputation, I expected much better service and accountability. Losing personal belongings and not taking immediate steps to rectify the situation is simply unacceptable. They added one dollar donation without you knowing, which was for the street smart donation. Why do you add something without informing the client. It is disrespectful. Quite literally the worst experience I've ever had in a venue. First of all the bar is crammed with the snobbiest, rudest halfwits imaginable, so it takes approximately 30 minutes to get a drink (a simple G&T and an Old Fashioned cost £56, absurd. Also, it was only Bulliet, Tanqueray & Fever Tree so not exactly screaming sophistication... base level spirits you'd find anywhere). When we asked to sit outside every member of staff hadn't a single clue where anything was... Unbelievable... it gets better though... You have to walk through the toilets to get outside... You spend £56 on two very basic drinks and then have to navigate maze of drunk, cocaine induced numbskulls through toilets to get to an outside area that is equally rammed. You actually have to get through a crowd of people through the toilets to get outside... people peeing everywhere, shouting, drunk noise... disgusting. That's what a 5 star venue deems acceptable? We left quickly... but not before trying to have a conversation with the manager about the experience.... He was embarrassingly smug and denser than a 2x4. He told us he felt threatened at the mere mention of a negative experience and argued that if we didn't have anything constructive or positive to say he wasn't going to listen. I don't think he understands how feedback works? I don't think he understands much of anything, to be honest. Quite pathetic. We then tried to leave, but of course, they close the front doors and now you have to re-navigate the maze to find an exit. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. All in all, an awful experience. Avoid at all costs.

The french sommelier there had an attitude all evening and then when he incorrectly poured red wine for a member of our party who had just said she is only drinking white, he looked at us as if it was our fault and starting blaming us for not saying anything, instead of just apologising. When I then tried to help him by moving the wine glass to someone who wanted red wine, he glared at me and very rudely said (bearing in mind I am 7 months pregnant) 'just let me do it, you are not a mother yet'. Critical but Fair Review of Chiltern Firehouse I recently had the opportunity to dine at Chiltern Firehouse with my wife, and while the overall experience had its positive moments, there were several significant issues with the food and service that I feel need to be addressed. To start with the positives, the atmosphere at Chiltern Firehouse was undeniably appealing, and the service from our waitress was attentive and professional. However, despite these strengths, the quality of the food left much to be desired. We began our meal with the tuna tartare and trout crudo. Unfortunately, the tuna tartare was disappointingly mushy, lacking the expected texture, and was served without any complementary accompaniments that might have added balance to the dish. The trout crudo, though flavorful, felt undersized for the price, leaving us feeling that the dish did not offer good value for money. The main courses were another area of concern. After a 35-minute wait, the dishes arrived cold. When we informed the staff, they promptly took the meals back, but it took an additional 20 minutes for the corrected dishes to be returned. While we didn’t raise this issue at the time because we were enjoying the atmosphere and our date night, the cold main courses and delayed service were not in line with the standard one might expect at a restaurant of Chiltern Firehouse’s caliber, especially given the price point of £150 per head. As a gesture of goodwill, the staff brought us a small dessert from the chef, which was a kind touch. However, in my view, it would have been more appropriate for the manager to personally acknowledge the issues and offer a more meaningful gesture, such as a complimentary drink or dessert, to help offset the extended wait and the lackluster food experience. While we do not dine with the expectation of free meals or discounts, we do believe that restaurants of this calibre should make an effort to make things right when issues arise. However, what has been most disappointing about this experience was the complete lack of response from the restaurant after I took the time to write to them and share my feedback. I emailed Chiltern Firehouse twice, yet I never received any acknowledgment or response to my concerns. In my opinion, this is a far more telling issue than the food quality itself. The failure to engage with a customer after a formal complaint is not just a lapse in customer service but a significant oversight in how to handle feedback—especially from patrons who are giving constructive criticism with the intention of helping the establishment improve. In conclusion, while the ambiance and some elements of service were commendable, my overall experience at Chiltern Firehouse was disappointing. The food did not meet expectations, and the lack of response to my complaint is a clear reflection of the restaurant’s disregard for customer feedback. Unfortunately, this has led me to question whether Chiltern Firehouse is truly living up to its reputation. Given the quality of the food and the complete lack of engagement with customers, I cannot recommend the restaurant based on my experience and will not be returning.

As a loyal guest for five years, I have consistently recommended this hotel to friends due to its convenient location near my home. However, my last two visits have been so disappointing that I’ve decided last Saturday was my final visit. During my penultimate visit, I was initially denied entry to the hotel bar when I tried to meet a friend who was staying there at my recommdation, simply because I didn't know their room number. To make matters worse, the staff member at the back entrance falsely claimed that my friend was already having several guests, which was untrue. I ended up standing in the cold at the back entrance in the alley for about 10min until they came to pick me up. On my visit to the restaurant last Saturday, I wanted to show visiting friends the bar after dinner, but I was told to ask again after the meal. When I did, I was met with a completely disrespectful and dismissive response from the female staff member at the bar entrance, which was entirely unwarranted. This is a dining review: The restaurant is located on the ground floor of what used to be a Firestation, the entrance is via the courtyard with nice lighting then into the restaurant which was very cramped and overcrowded. Music was too loud and got louder at 9pm with a DJ. Wine was overpriced! Food was good but overpriced. Steak tartare for £38 for a starter. The grilled octopus tentacle was good. The mains of chicken tasted like a better version of Nando’s for £69 for 2 persons. The seating was uncomfortable, we felt cramped, people walking passed us all the time. It was worse if you sat at the bar as it was extremely cramped, was bumped into multiple times- suggest to avoid. Service disappeared after a while, so took a while to get the bill. Good food, overpriced, over crowded and too noisy- get far better ambience, value for money and service in so many places in London!

Had weekend brunch here the courtyard was nice enough but nothing exceptional. Crab doughnuts were tasteless and doughy. Pancakes was average but expected much more given how famous they are. Croque monsieur was a disaster with no béchamel sauce, basically no difference to a ham and cheese toastie.

I visited Chiltern Firehouse yesterday and was, unfortunately, met with a very disappointing experience. Having heard so much about the restaurant, I was excited to dine there, but my expectations were completely let down by a combination of poor service and undercooked food. Upon arrival, the receptionist immediately informed me that there was no availability, even though I could clearly see numerous empty tables. What made this worse was that the couple ahead of me, who also didn’t have a reservation, were seated without issue. When I asked if I could wait for a table, she dismissively told me to “try my luck” inside without giving me any direction or assistance. This left me wandering around the hotel for 20 minutes, feeling incredibly out of place while other guests gave me strange looks. Frustrated, I returned to the reception, and thankfully a much more helpful lady named Oy found me a table. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the experience. Once seated, it felt as though my friend and I were completely invisible. We were ignored for a good 40 minutes before anyone bothered to take our order, and this was after repeatedly trying to flag down a waiter. When our food finally arrived, it was another disappointment. The fried chicken was shockingly undercooked—so much so that the fat was still clearly visible, and parts of the meat looked raw. When I pointed this out, I was told dismissively that “this is how the chicken comes,” which was concerning, to say the least. No one should be served undercooked chicken. As for the pasta, while the sauce was flavorful, the pasta itself was severely undercooked—hard and not even close to being al dente. At the end of the meal, I asked for the bill and requested the service charge be removed, as I strongly felt it wasn’t deserved in this case. The overall experience left me disappointed, uncomfortable, and frustrated, and I truly regret visiting. Chiltern Firehouse is known for its exclusivity and reputation, but based on this experience, the quality of service and food did not match the hype at all. I wouldn’t recommend it on a Friday hopefully my next visit will be on a Saturday and Sunday when I can get a reservation.

Amazing venue inside and out, the menus are lovely and above the norm, but unfortunately all of this doesn’t matter as the staff are disgustingly rude. A new team is definitely needed, such a lack of hospitality. Do not recommend, plenty of other boujee, stunning places to go in London, that have very welcoming staff and great customer service. Which this place seems to lack completely.

We had a reservation sat at the counter which was fun to watch food be prepared. The food was delicious, our issues was with the service and way we were treated. We started off with one server who told us he was having a bad night as he had returned from vacation. There were 3 or 4 different servers and two different sommaliers come talk to us and bring food so it was confusing who to order from. Most of them were lovely and nice and very attentive, however management walked by and snapped at server to stop talking to us and walk away, we asked to speak to him and he was very condescending and tried to educate us on how they don't work on tips which we are already aware of, he also apparently told server she was making us have a bad time which was not true at all. Then we went to the bar to get a drink in the front, not sure if it's a private club or what but were asked to leave if we weren't meeting anyone there. It was disappointing and not that cool.

We ate at the restaurant early on a Saturday night, before the youths make it a hip hang out. Earlier in the evening, it was quiet and cozy and a great spot to eat. Later in the night you might bump into someone cos playing with a night at the Roxbury haircut and sunglasses, but that’s not the case if you go earlier. We ordered a Chiltern Caesar, 48 hour chicken and the truffle gnocchi and we have 0 complaints. Ended the night with an Eton Mess which to any American reading this, just order it if you like a sweet fruit forward dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed and would go back.

Wow. What a horrible place. I have dealt with better service at weatherspoons. Jesus. All I can say is good menu, good prices but the staff are DISGUSTING. The only good staff I dealt with was the doorman and our host ben. Other than that our waitress was a stuck up RUDE and lazy, entitled woman who clearly made it evident that we meant nothing to her. We discussed multiple things about the menu with her but everytime RUDE, rude, rude. I asked for her name and she refused to give it. Constantly forcing us, not giving a minute to have our meeting without trying to shove things down my throat. When we asked questions involving the menu, she knew NOTHING. Recommended the most expensive mezcal which was actually only top five. Knew nothing. Great venue and menu. But the staff need to go. She had dark hair, 5’4 and pale white skin. Very rude and will NOT be coming back due to her obnoxious behaviour, will take clientele to another bar in London, not one where the staff make you feel uncomfortable, the exclusiveness and money spent, means we deal with a “better” experience than most places, but unfortunately any venue would have been better service than her. Honestly she is the reason I give this place 1 star, even the drinks were not Michelin. The whole thing was very bleh. So many better exclusive speakeasy’s in London, not a glorified weatherspoons with rude staff. Thank you to the staff and bartenders that did make our night, I pray no one deals with this ever again at such an “exclusive” bar.

Last Monday, we visited the Chiltern Firehouse and had an incredibly disappointing experience. We were seated at our table in the front garden area, and within a minute, we were pressured to order water by an impolite and unfriendly server. The server, a woman with glasses and an Italian accent, did not give us an opportunity to consider our choices, even though I was on the phone and my colleague was still deciding. She returned to our table and asked us again in a very aggressive manner. I informed her that her behaviour was rude, but she still would not stop. We were shocked and decided to leave. We have been regular customers of the Chiltern Firehouse for the past ten years and have never encountered such rude and unpleasant behaviour from any of the staff. It is regrettable that the standards of service have declined to this extent.

The food was good but overpriced for what you get. Service was decent. What ruined it? My sister and I went out to their courtyard after dinner and took one picture, but we were rudely scolded by what seemed like security—or maybe a manager—who said the area was closed and that they could have license issues if people sat there. I explained that we were only taking a picture after dining there and that you have to cross the courtyard to exit anyway. He rudely walked away without any further explanation. They also added an 'optional service fee' of 15%. Absolutely not. I wasn’t giving a cent to the managers or front-of-house staff who barely acknowledged me. I made them take it off and gave a tip directly to my server, who was actually kind. Owners—YOU should pay your staff a living wage or build it into the cost of the food instead of making customers awkwardly ask to remove the fee.

There were four of us . My son, two daughters and I dined there last night and, as in our last visit, were delighted. We had the smashed chicken, pork, lobster, oysters Rockefeller and a selection of salads and vegetables. The service was impeccable and all entrees were delicious. We needed to vacate since our time was up and we were escorted to a an outdoor terrace with heat lamps. We ordered dessert ( incredible Eaton mess and “eat as much as you want” tiramisu. The outdoor seating was absolutely wonderful This is a place where you are free to “dress to impress” and a marvellous place to people watch. This restaurant is a must visit for us whenever we visit London.

Let's face it, if you don't mind spending serious money in a beautiful location, and want to be seen, this is the place for you. Elegent surroundings, smart and snappy service with a smile, lovely food, a cocktail and wine list to make you wince. We had a thoroughly wonderful afternoon in the garden on a lovely summer day. We loved the Firehouse Caesar, the Pâté en Croûte, and the prawns. We shared the Pasta al Forno and it was too much for three, and coul have had more spice. We've enjoyed the oysters before. Hollywood stars are often seen (three on my visit) but don't ask for a selfie or try to take a sneeky shot unless you want to be back outside on Chiltern Street. You feel pretty special inside the Chiltern Firehouse, just make sure someone else is picking up the tab. Wine starts at £60/bottle.

Very average restaurant. It’s gone downhill. Food was poor cafe quality. Service pretty nonexistent. If you want a 10% chance of seeing a C list celebrity you might like it, otherwise London has way better restaurants.

Just had a quick bite to eat here which was expensive. The tartar was horrible and somehow tasted like flour, didn’t even come with any other lemon etc. The oysters, wine, and service were wonderful, but doubtful I’d ever eat here again outside of raw bar and drinks.

At the suggestion of one of our party of four (plus baby) who had recently been to Aubaine in Selfridges we went to this Hampstead restaurant for breakfast on a cold but clear Saturday morning in early October. After having walked from Euston station into Hampstead we were ready for a good breakfast. Walked in off the street not having made a reservation where we were seated downstairs directly under the stairs (we had a child & buggy) and after looking at the menu and wishing we’d gone next door to Cote Brasserie we gave our orders to the waitress. Scrambled egg and salmon £8.00 (came with 1 piece of cold rock hard toasted bread with no butter or spread offered-maybe that’s the French way? two cherry tomatoes and curly kale), pot of tea £2.95, 2x formule sante £12.00 each (poached egg with avocado on seeded toast) one with fresh orange juice, one with a pot of tea, one pain au raisin £2.50 and one bottle of evian water (750ml) £4.00. We asked that one of the poached eggs be well done and when the food arrived the waitress said she couldn’t remember which was which but she could go back to the kitchen and ask but we declined this offer thinking we’d soon learn ourselves, well we did as they were both well done with one being more well done than the other making it more hard boiled than poached and did I mention my rock hard toast? All looked good (see my photo’s) and to be fair the scrambled egg , salmon and curly kale were fine but the rest was a poor do. Tea was nice as was the orange juice but you can‘t really mess that up. The total bill was £41.45 plus the norm (for Hampstead at any rate) service charge of 12.5% adding another £5.18 giving us a grand total of £46.63 for what was essentially three plates of egg, a bun and a couple of drinks. I had been thinking of trying this place for lunch or dinner but this experience of breakfast has put me off. I'm being generous with my overall rating of a three because it really falls between two and three.

Rude staff who clearly don’t enjoy what they do. Mediocre food. This setting could do with a better catering proposition.
