I wish I could give a negative score… worst experience ever in London. The lobby receptionist staff are so rude and unprofessional! While I was taking pics of the interior, the cocktail guy stopped me and said no pics because of their policy. I asked why there is a policy for not taking pics, especially I’m just taking pics of the interiors not any guests and I’ve never heard such rules in other hotels. He asked me in a very offensive way about which hotels I have been to… I mean this is so unprofessional. I’m paying money to chill and enjoy service at your place not to be challenged about which hotels I’ve been to. Then another receptionist came to serve and then told me no laptop again….. I came to this place for food and then coffee because I got work to do. Why don’t they tell people in the first place? Nowadays cafes with roles of no laptop on weekend clearly put a sign at their door. How dare you kick someone out who paid at your place?! This place is outrageous… I’ve never seen such ridiculous place in London before! By the way the food is also not worth the price! You definitely have other tasty options elsewhere

The staff at the hotel is very unfriendly to guests, talking in a very passive aggressive way. Also, the lobby doesn’t allow guests to take pictures and doesn’t have any sign suggesting so. The staff just came and talked to me in a rude manner. As a 5-star hotel, very poor in customer service. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I recently visited Chiltern Firehouse restaurant and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with their wardrobe service. After entrusting them with my coat and scarf, my scarf was lost. When I approached the staff about this, the lady at the wardrobe admitted they had misplaced it. I was assured they would contact me if it was found, but one day later, I have yet to receive a call or any update. The lack of follow-up and assistance in resolving this issue has been frustrating. For a venue of this reputation, I expected much better service and accountability. Losing personal belongings and not taking immediate steps to rectify the situation is simply unacceptable. I hope they improve their customer service and wardrobe management to avoid such incidents in the future.

I loved this place till my visit yesterday on the 8th of December 2024 for brunch at 1:30 pm. We used come here every year and the food was very good. But unfortunately lately the food is becoming worse every time, till yesterday were I had to write something. 1- We ordered the white truffle spaghetti and it was a bland butter flavour.( very BAD) 2- ordered the steak and eggs and I requested a runny boiled eggs, and received a dry hard boiled eggs. 3- a new thing that restaurant does, which chiltren picked up. They added one dollar donation without you knowing, which was for the street smart donation. Why do you add something without informing the client. It is disrespectful. So I requested it to be removed. It was a bad experience, expensive bill, waiters are not very helpful as they used to.

Table service was nice, but the managers act interesting and arrogant because apparently a famous person comes there every now and then. Downright pathetic. 32 pound chicken was served cold and after reporting we got the same chicken back heated under a heat lamp! Too expensive tent for the value. Location and history of the building very beautiful. The atmosphere of the restaurant/bar is very special. It is recommended to have drinks instead of food.

Quite literally the worst experience I've ever had in a venue. First of all the bar is crammed with the snobbiest, rudest halfwits imaginable, so it takes approximately 30 minutes to get a drink (a simple G&T and an Old Fashioned cost £56, absurd. Also, it was only Bulliet, Tanqueray & Fever Tree so not exactly screaming sophistication... base level spirits you'd find anywhere). When we asked to sit outside every member of staff hadn't a single clue where anything was... Unbelievable... it gets better though... You have to walk through the toilets to get outside... You spend £56 on two very basic drinks and then have to navigate maze of drunk, cocaine induced numbskulls through toilets to get to an outside area that is equally rammed. You actually have to get through a crowd of people through the toilets to get outside... people peeing everywhere, shouting, drunk noise... disgusting. That's what a 5 star venue deems acceptable? We left quickly... but not before trying to have a conversation with the manager about the experience.... He was embarrassingly smug and denser than a 2x4. He told us he felt threatened at the mere mention of a negative experience and argued that if we didn't have anything constructive or positive to say he wasn't going to listen. I don't think he understands how feedback works? I don't think he understands much of anything, to be honest. Quite pathetic. We then tried to leave, but of course, they close the front doors and now you have to re-navigate the maze to find an exit. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. All in all, an awful experience. Avoid at all costs.

Critical but Fair Review of Chiltern Firehouse I recently had the opportunity to dine at Chiltern Firehouse with my wife, and while the overall experience had its positive moments, there were several significant issues with the food and service that I feel need to be addressed. To start with the positives, the atmosphere at Chiltern Firehouse was undeniably appealing, and the service from our waitress was attentive and professional. However, despite these strengths, the quality of the food left much to be desired. We began our meal with the tuna tartare and trout crudo. Unfortunately, the tuna tartare was disappointingly mushy, lacking the expected texture, and was served without any complementary accompaniments that might have added balance to the dish. The trout crudo, though flavorful, felt undersized for the price, leaving us feeling that the dish did not offer good value for money. The main courses were another area of concern. After a 35-minute wait, the dishes arrived cold. When we informed the staff, they promptly took the meals back, but it took an additional 20 minutes for the corrected dishes to be returned. While we didn’t raise this issue at the time because we were enjoying the atmosphere and our date night, the cold main courses and delayed service were not in line with the standard one might expect at a restaurant of Chiltern Firehouse’s caliber, especially given the price point of £150 per head. As a gesture of goodwill, the staff brought us a small dessert from the chef, which was a kind touch. However, in my view, it would have been more appropriate for the manager to personally acknowledge the issues and offer a more meaningful gesture, such as a complimentary drink or dessert, to help offset the extended wait and the lackluster food experience. While we do not dine with the expectation of free meals or discounts, we do believe that restaurants of this calibre should make an effort to make things right when issues arise. However, what has been most disappointing about this experience was the complete lack of response from the restaurant after I took the time to write to them and share my feedback. I emailed Chiltern Firehouse twice, yet I never received any acknowledgment or response to my concerns. In my opinion, this is a far more telling issue than the food quality itself. The failure to engage with a customer after a formal complaint is not just a lapse in customer service but a significant oversight in how to handle feedback—especially from patrons who are giving constructive criticism with the intention of helping the establishment improve. In conclusion, while the ambiance and some elements of service were commendable, my overall experience at Chiltern Firehouse was disappointing. The food did not meet expectations, and the lack of response to my complaint is a clear reflection of the restaurant’s disregard for customer feedback. Unfortunately, this has led me to question whether Chiltern Firehouse is truly living up to its reputation. Given the quality of the food and the complete lack of engagement with customers, I cannot recommend the restaurant based on my experience and will not be returning.

Incredibly disappointing experience. Staff were outrageously rude. The french sommelier there had an attitude all evening and then when he incorrectly poured red wine for a member of our party who had just said she is only drinking white, he looked at us as if it was our fault and starting blaming us for not saying anything, instead of just apologising. When I then tried to help him by moving the wine glass to someone who wanted red wine, he glared at me and very rudely said (bearing in mind I am 7 months pregnant) 'just let me do it, you are not a mother yet'. Won't be coming back.

Let's no comment the snobbish behavior of waiters with mogul toupees because they work in 5 star establishments. But to see the same rude girl openly and blatantly flirting with customers, smiling and stroking her hair while waiting to be paid by the son of that table's customer is on another level. The hotel should take seriously the fact that its employees in all positions (I'm talking about those in the entrance and restaurant service) constitute its public image and shape its evaluations! As a loyal guest for five years, I have consistently recommended this hotel to friends due to its convenient location near my home. However, my last two visits have been so disappointing that I’ve decided last Saturday was my final visit. During my penultimate visit, I was initially denied entry to the hotel bar when I tried to meet a friend who was staying there at my recommdation, simply because I didn't know their room number. To make matters worse, the staff member at the back entrance falsely claimed that my friend was already having several guests, which was untrue. I ended up standing in the cold at the back entrance in the alley for about 10min until they came to pick me up. On my visit to the restaurant last Saturday, I wanted to show visiting friends the bar after dinner, but I was told to ask again after the meal. When I did, I was met with a completely disrespectful and dismissive response from the female staff member at the bar entrance, which was entirely unwarranted. The lack of professionalism and courtesy is appalling, and it’s clear that regular customers are not valued. This treatment is unacceptable, and I will not be returning.

Dined here on 30/10/24 - solo. The vibe made me a little nervous to be on my own- it didn’t seem like the place to break out a book to keep me company. But oh my heavens the insecurity I had soon disappeared when I was seated by a member of staff. I sat at a counter facing the kitchen and the people who attended me were kind and friendly - they checked on me often enough that I didn’t feel ignored but also not so much that I felt annoyed. I chatted with my one server about novels we both read - it was nice to have something to connect over! The food was great, cocktails delish. I would definitely come back if it was a special occasion.

The staff are extremely rude, including the waitresses at the outdoor space which I used to love going to, and also the bartenders at the bar inside and the security guards inside for the club. They barely acknowledge you, talk to you like you are below them and the overall experience is awful. This place is overpriced for the service you get. I have never experienced this anywhere before especially for consecutive times. They need to teach and train the staff some manners. Chiltern has lost the classiness it used to have. This is a dining review: The restaurant is located on the ground floor of what used to be a Firestation, the entrance is via the courtyard with nice lighting then into the restaurant which was very cramped and overcrowded. Music was too loud and got louder at 9pm with a DJ. Wine was overpriced! Food was good but overpriced. Steak tartare for £38 for a starter. The grilled octopus tentacle was good. The mains of chicken tasted like a better version of Nando’s for £69 for 2 persons. The seating was uncomfortable, we felt cramped, people walking passed us all the time. It was worse if you sat at the bar as it was extremely cramped, was bumped into multiple times- suggest to avoid. Service disappeared after a while, so took a while to get the bill. Good food, overpriced, over crowded and too noisy- get far better ambience, value for money and service in so many places in London!

Went to Chiltern Firehouse today looking for a table of four outside, for late afternoon drinks. Greeted one of the hostesses (white female in her mid 20s) with a warm smile. She refused to greet us back in any way, checked out all our outfits from top to bottom and left without saying a single word. Note that we were all aware of the restaurant’s dresscode. Another polite hostess then came to let us know that they were fully booked for the whole day. Very disappointing and unprofessional behaviour for such a good place.

I visited Chiltern Firehouse yesterday and was, unfortunately, met with a very disappointing experience. Having heard so much about the restaurant, I was excited to dine there, but my expectations were completely let down by a combination of poor service and undercooked food. Upon arrival, the receptionist immediately informed me that there was no availability, even though I could clearly see numerous empty tables. What made this worse was that the couple ahead of me, who also didn’t have a reservation, were seated without issue. When I asked if I could wait for a table, she dismissively told me to “try my luck” inside without giving me any direction or assistance. This left me wandering around the hotel for 20 minutes, feeling incredibly out of place while other guests gave me strange looks. Frustrated, I returned to the reception, and thankfully a much more helpful lady named Oy found me a table. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the experience. Once seated, it felt as though my friend and I were completely invisible. We were ignored for a good 40 minutes before anyone bothered to take our order, and this was after repeatedly trying to flag down a waiter. When our food finally arrived, it was another disappointment. The fried chicken was shockingly undercooked—so much so that the fat was still clearly visible, and parts of the meat looked raw. When I pointed this out, I was told dismissively that “this is how the chicken comes,” which was concerning, to say the least. No one should be served undercooked chicken. As for the pasta, while the sauce was flavorful, the pasta itself was severely undercooked—hard and not even close to being al dente. At the end of the meal, I asked for the bill and requested the service charge be removed, as I strongly felt it wasn’t deserved in this case. The overall experience left me disappointed, uncomfortable, and frustrated, and I truly regret visiting. Chiltern Firehouse is known for its exclusivity and reputation, but based on this experience, the quality of service and food did not match the hype at all. I wouldn’t recommend it on a Friday hopefully my next visit will be on a Saturday and Sunday when I can get a reservation.

We started off with one server who told us he was having a bad night as he had returned from vacation. There were 3 or 4 different servers and two different sommaliers come talk to us and bring food so it was confusing who to order from. Most of them were lovely and nice and very attentive, however management walked by and snapped at server to stop talking to us and walk away, we asked to speak to him and he was very condescending and tried to educate us on how they don't work on tips which we are already aware of, he also apparently told server she was making us have a bad time which was not true at all. Then we went to the bar to get a drink in the front, not sure if it's a private club or what but were asked to leave if we weren't meeting anyone there. It was disappointing and not that cool.

Wow. What a horrible place. I have dealt with better service at weatherspoons. Jesus. All I can say is good menu, good prices but the staff are DISGUSTING. The only good staff I dealt with was the doorman and our host ben. Other than that our waitress was a stuck up RUDE and lazy, entitled woman who clearly made it evident that we meant nothing to her. We discussed multiple things about the menu with her but everytime RUDE, rude, rude. I asked for her name and she refused to give it. Constantly forcing us, not giving a minute to have our meeting without trying to shove things down my throat. When we asked questions involving the menu, she knew NOTHING. Recommended the most expensive mezcal which was actually only top five. Knew nothing. Great venue and menu. But the staff need to go. She had dark hair, 5’4 and pale white skin. Very rude and will NOT be coming back due to her obnoxious behaviour, will take clientele to another bar in London, not one where the staff make you feel uncomfortable, the exclusiveness and money spent, means we deal with a “better” experience than most places, but unfortunately any venue would have been better service than her. Honestly she is the reason I give this place 1 star, even the drinks were not Michelin. The whole thing was very bleh. So many better exclusive speakeasy’s in London, not a glorified weatherspoons with rude staff. Thank you to the staff and bartenders that did make our night, I pray no one deals with this ever again at such an “exclusive” bar.

She returned to our table and asked us again in a very aggressive manner. I informed her that her behaviour was rude, but she still would not stop. We were shocked and decided to leave. The food was good but overpriced for what you get. Service was decent. What ruined it? My sister and I went out to their courtyard after dinner and took one picture, but we were rudely scolded by what seemed like security—or maybe a manager—who said the area was closed and that they could have license issues if people sat there. I explained that we were only taking a picture after dining there and that you have to cross the courtyard to exit anyway. He rudely walked away without any further explanation. They also added an 'optional service fee' of 15%. Absolutely not. I wasn’t giving a cent to the managers or front-of-house staff who barely acknowledged me. I made them take it off and gave a tip directly to my server, who was actually kind. Owners—YOU should pay your staff a living wage or build it into the cost of the food instead of making customers awkwardly ask to remove the fee.

Rude staff in the restaurant ( the receptionist) was talking in an inappropriate way! not worth the experience, not worth the food with this attitude.. (Less than a star)

Enjoyed a perfect birthday lunch in the courtyard with the most attentive and thoughtful service from Joe today. Always been a favourite spot and couldn’t fault the service, food or ambience today. Thank you Joe for a lovely birthday lunch x

Let's face it, if you don't mind spending serious money in a beautiful location, and want to be seen, this is the place for you. Elegent surroundings, smart and snappy service with a smile, lovely food, a cocktail and wine list to make you wince. We had a thoroughly wonderful afternoon in the garden on a lovely summer day. We loved the Firehouse Caesar, the Pâté en Croûte, and the prawns. We shared the Pasta al Forno and it was too much for three, and coul have had more spice. We've enjoyed the oysters before. Hollywood stars are often seen (three on my visit) but don't ask for a selfie or try to take a sneeky shot unless you want to be back outside on Chiltern Street. You feel pretty special inside the Chiltern Firehouse, just make sure someone else is picking up the tab. Wine starts at £60/bottle.

Very average restaurant. It’s gone downhill. Food was poor cafe quality. Service pretty nonexistent. If you want a 10% chance of seeing a C list celebrity you might like it, otherwise London has way better restaurants.

Just had a quick bite to eat here which was expensive. The tartar was horrible and somehow tasted like flour, didn’t even come with any other lemon etc. The oysters, wine, and service were wonderful, but doubtful I’d ever eat here again outside of raw bar and drinks.

Stopped for a quick coffee before leaving London. Sat in the outside terrace, sunny day, lovely setting. Staff were professional and polite and the coffee and pastries were very nice. Didn't use the main restaurant or hotel so can't comment on those but on a sunny day would highly recommend sitting on the terrace and enjoying some refreshments. The toilets were also incredibly clean and smelled like tom ford bizarrely.

I visited by accident, was warmly greeted by front of house who accommodated us. seated outside - very pleasant location. drinks were great but service by host was pleasant but left a sour taste after reflection. great negroni 26.00 (GBP) and gin and tonic (23.00 GBP) . not a fan of fever tree but that Is all they had. after receiving the bill, I asked (as I had never seen this reference) what was the reference "N/A Beverage" - after a long not very clear explanation, the entry on the receipt was scribbled out by the Host making it harder for me to question. So if I was given a calmer and clear explanation of the bill entries I would have given the place 5 stars.

My dad stayed here a week. He accidentally booked 6 nights instead of 7 and the staff accommodated him by allowing him to extend his room and not move. The housekeeping was so sweet. She was from Lithuania and left the room perfect. Then the front desk staff, this beautiful brunette girl with blue eyes couldn’t have been nicer. We had breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks there and each place felt like a new experience. I loved the Belgium waiter who was beyond nice. Also the girl from the North (with a pro dad soccer player) made my dad feel so special. Shout out to Mo and Terence who were also so sweet. They went above and beyond. Not only did my dad fall in love with London, my new home, but he fell in love with this hotel. I am sure he will be back and will stay nowhere but here. These guys are professionals and you should stay nowhere but here when you come to London. If you are here for business everyone will want to come have meetings at your hotel because its amazing. 100/10 would recommend. If they had residency I am sure he would live here.

We went here for a celebration meal and we are fortunate enough to eat a fair bit. In my 42 years this has crowned itself the BEST meal out i’ve ever experienced. You can see why it’s so popular. From start to finish it was faultless. Thank you to all the staff for you dedication and making it such a fantastic experience. 10/10

We visited here upon recommendation from a couple of fellow Aussies and it exceeded expectations. Food was incredible (truffle baked gnocchi and tiramisu were a highlight), atmosphere amazing and service, excellent. Special shoutout to Ina who served our table and was simply a delight, making our experience what it was. A must for dinner if visiting London!

Unhappy with my experience at Chiltern Firehouse. I ordered the crab linguine, thinking it to be £35 as stated on the menu. I was not asked if I wanted this as a side or a main, and when the bill came, it was £60 because I had ordered the main, although nobody made me aware of this. The food itself was personally not tasty. The rain and chilly weather didn't ameliorate the situation but I can see the potential beauty when it's sunny. Great for instagram, but not my cup of tea!

Only dined here. Get why this might not be everyone’s fave scene/vibe, but we enjoyed it. There was a kids menu for our 7-year-old, had great cocktails, best oysters I have had in a long time, delicious starters and the citrus chicken was amazing. Will definitely go back next time we’re in London (though maybe without kids …)

I'm surprised this restaurant has any bad reviews! We loved it. We are a family of 4 (parents in our 40s and a 13 and 15 year old), visiting from California. I booked it because I was looking for a place with a lively/stylish atmosphere and good food that wasn't too stiff/fancy, since we are traveling with teens. This place was perfect. First, it was packed, in a good way. I saw a few families like ours (American couples with older kids, dressed nicely [not in touring clothes] who presumably had chosen it for the same reasons we had), but for the most part, everyone seemed to be local and very much enjoying themselves. The food was great, and we followed our waitress's recommendation to choose something woodfired since that is their specialty. As a result, I ordered the chicken and my husband the pork (when we would normally order fish), and the kids ordered steaks. I am not sure I've had better chicken ever, and my husband felt the same way about the pork. Our teens liked the steaks, too. The sommelier engaged us in a lively discussion of California v. French wines (we know far more about the former, coming from Northern California), and guided us to the correct choices. Both he and our waitress were fun and charming, and very attentive. My husband kept telling me this was a perfect choice for us. With the wine, it was certainly pricey, but we felt it was worth it. Would love to come back for breakfast sometime--the pancake photo on Tripadvisor keeps catching my eye.

Booked in advanced for dinner. Visiting the first time with friends, asked if we could sit in the terrace to which we were told there no availability. Unfortunately this was a lie as in fact there was space the whole time we were there. The lady at the front desk didn’t seem keen on a group of women. Additionally, there was a worm in the food, for which the staff measly apologised but didn’t seem too fussed about considering it was a serious problem, especially given all the attitude around sitting and dining there. On top of it the wait staff try to rush you, overall the whole experience was a let down, the place is overhyped. We had been to Scott’s night before where they were much more welcoming and ended up sitting and chatting for hours with friends without so much of a whisper for us to leave - and that too at full capacity that Chiltern Firehouse were claiming. Not worth the time or money.

The meal I had was absolutely dreadful. A hideous caesar salad that was nothing like a caesar salad followed by steak tartare. The steak tartare was blander than bland and there were no condiments or offer of condiments to try and cheer it up. The price was stupid. Don't even think about going there if you like good food.

**Restaurant’s review only** Went with my family for breakfast. Pancakes - very average, dry and not even good at all. I went because I am a pancake addict, but after all the reviews on instagram, in real life I was super disappointed. Never will come back for breakfast. Eggs on the croissant - had egg’s shell so this ruined the whole dish. 2 egg omelette was good. Porridge was good too. Service - our initial waitress was very nice, but other waitresses showed no pleasant hospitality. I had at least 2 who served us and no smiling, with faces as if I owe them money. I said thank you on several occasions and they did not even smile or say anything back. One of the waitresses who showed us the way to the restaurant was also unfriendly and quite rude.

We went to the restaurant and this is only in regards to that. One day I'll spend over £260 (>$300!!) on a meal for my partner and I, and have a good meal. Tonight was not that night. Portion sizes were hilarious (I literally got one scallop as an appetizer... For almost £20, we were hoping to have at least more than one so my partner might have one) and the meals didn't even come with sides, which was surprising and not mentioned to us beforehand. Drinks were over £20 and less than mediocre. Stuff I'd expect to run maybe 8-10 bucks in the states, taste wise at least. The bill came and a 15% service charge had already been added, which seemed fair. Service was friendly but not overly attentive and we went long periods without any water.. So I added 0% for additional tip. Upon seeing that, our server who had previously been friendly/cordial tossed our receipt at us and turned away without another word. A little on the dramatic side but at least gave us a laugh at the end of an extremely underwhelming dining experience. Not sure if these guys used to be good and maybe they're just running on fumes or their previous reputation, but we would never recommend this place and will be passing such along to the travel company that booked us. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere folks!

Full of entitled, inconsiderate and pretentious staff who think they are doing some kind of favour by allowing people to reserve and eat at this former Firestation. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere; plenty of fine, heritage institutions in the local area.

My wife and I dined at Chiltern Firehouse restaurant during our trip to London. All I say can is "wow"!!! The food (especially fish) was fantastic. Our server, James, was the most attentive person I have encountered in the hospitality business. He recommended dishes and got to know us personally. At the end of the meal, he surprised us with a special dessert in anticipation of the birth of our first child. I would recommend this place to all of my family and friends.

At the suggestion of one of our party of four (plus baby) who had recently been to Aubaine in Selfridges we went to this Hampstead restaurant for breakfast on a cold but clear Saturday morning in early October. After having walked from Euston station into Hampstead we were ready for a good breakfast. Walked in off the street not having made a reservation where we were seated downstairs directly under the stairs (we had a child & buggy) and after looking at the menu and wishing we’d gone next door to Cote Brasserie we gave our orders to the waitress. Scrambled egg and salmon £8.00 (came with 1 piece of cold rock hard toasted bread with no butter or spread offered-maybe that’s the French way? two cherry tomatoes and curly kale), pot of tea £2.95, 2x formule sante £12.00 each (poached egg with avocado on seeded toast) one with fresh orange juice, one with a pot of tea, one pain au raisin £2.50 and one bottle of evian water (750ml) £4.00. We asked that one of the poached eggs be well done and when the food arrived the waitress said she couldn’t remember which was which but she could go back to the kitchen and ask but we declined this offer thinking we’d soon learn ourselves, well we did as they were both well done with one being more well done than the other making it more hard boiled than poached and did I mention my rock hard toast? All looked good (see my photo’s) and to be fair the scrambled egg , salmon and curly kale were fine but the rest was a poor do. Tea was nice as was the orange juice but you can‘t really mess that up. The total bill was £41.45 plus the norm (for Hampstead at any rate) service charge of 12.5% adding another £5.18 giving us a grand total of £46.63 for what was essentially three plates of egg, a bun and a couple of drinks. I had been thinking of trying this place for lunch or dinner but this experience of breakfast has put me off. I'm being generous with my overall rating of a three because it really falls between two and three.
