Had weekend brunch here the courtyard was nice enough but nothing exceptional. Crab doughnuts were tasteless and doughy. Pancakes was average but expected much more given how famous they are. Croque monsieur was a disaster with no béchamel sauce, basically no difference to a ham and cheese toastie.

I visited Chiltern Firehouse yesterday and was, unfortunately, met with a very disappointing experience. Having heard so much about the restaurant, I was excited to dine there, but my expectations were completely let down by a combination of poor service and undercooked food. Upon arrival, the receptionist immediately informed me that there was no availability, even though I could clearly see numerous empty tables. What made this worse was that the couple ahead of me, who also didn’t have a reservation, were seated without issue. When I asked if I could wait for a table, she dismissively told me to “try my luck” inside without giving me any direction or assistance. This left me wandering around the hotel for 20 minutes, feeling incredibly out of place while other guests gave me strange looks. Frustrated, I returned to the reception, and thankfully a much more helpful lady named Oy found me a table. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the experience. Once seated, it felt as though my friend and I were completely invisible. We were ignored for a good 40 minutes before anyone bothered to take our order, and this was after repeatedly trying to flag down a waiter. When our food finally arrived, it was another disappointment. The fried chicken was shockingly undercooked—so much so that the fat was still clearly visible, and parts of the meat looked raw. When I pointed this out, I was told dismissively that “this is how the chicken comes,” which was concerning, to say the least. No one should be served undercooked chicken. As for the pasta, while the sauce was flavorful, the pasta itself was severely undercooked—hard and not even close to being al dente. At the end of the meal, I asked for the bill and requested the service charge be removed, as I strongly felt it wasn’t deserved in this case. The overall experience left me disappointed, uncomfortable, and frustrated, and I truly regret visiting. Chiltern Firehouse is known for its exclusivity and reputation, but based on this experience, the quality of service and food did not match the hype at all. I wouldn’t recommend it on a Friday hopefully my next visit will be on a Saturday and Sunday when I can get a reservation.

Amazing venue inside and out, the menus are lovely and above the norm, but unfortunately all of this doesn’t matter as the staff are disgustingly rude. We had a reservation sat at the counter which was fun to watch food be prepared. The food was delicious, our issues was with the service and way we were treated. We started off with one server who told us he was having a bad night as he had returned from vacation. There were 3 or 4 different servers and two different sommaliers come talk to us and bring food so it was confusing who to order from. Most of them were lovely and nice and very attentive, however management walked by and snapped at server to stop talking to us and walk away, we asked to speak to him and he was very condescending and tried to educate us on how they don't work on tips which we are already aware of, he also apparently told server she was making us have a bad time which was not true at all. Then we went to the bar to get a drink in the front, not sure if it's a private club or what but were asked to leave if we weren't meeting anyone there. It was disappointing and not that cool.

We ate at the restaurant early on a Saturday night, before the youths make it a hip hang out. Earlier in the evening, it was quiet and cozy and a great spot to eat. Later in the night you might bump into someone cos playing with a night at the Roxbury haircut and sunglasses, but that’s not the case if you go earlier. We ordered a Chiltern Caesar, 48 hour chicken and the truffle gnocchi and we have 0 complaints. Ended the night with an Eton Mess which to any American reading this, just order it if you like a sweet fruit forward dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed and would go back.

Wow. What a horrible place. I have dealt with better service at weatherspoons. Jesus. All I can say is good menu, good prices but the staff are DISGUSTING. The only good staff I dealt with was the doorman and our host ben. Other than that our waitress was a stuck up RUDE and lazy, entitled woman who clearly made it evident that we meant nothing to her. We discussed multiple things about the menu with her but everytime RUDE, rude, rude. I asked for her name and she refused to give it. Constantly forcing us, not giving a minute to have our meeting without trying to shove things down my throat. When we asked questions involving the menu, she knew NOTHING. Recommended the most expensive mezcal which was actually only top five. Knew nothing. Great venue and menu. But the staff need to go. She had dark hair, 5’4 and pale white skin. Very rude and will NOT be coming back due to her obnoxious behaviour, will take clientele to another bar in London, not one where the staff make you feel uncomfortable, the exclusiveness and money spent, means we deal with a “better” experience than most places, but unfortunately any venue would have been better service than her. Honestly she is the reason I give this place 1 star, even the drinks were not Michelin. The whole thing was very bleh. So many better exclusive speakeasy’s in London, not a glorified weatherspoons with rude staff. Thank you to the staff and bartenders that did make our night, I pray no one deals with this ever again at such an “exclusive” bar.

Last Monday, we visited the Chiltern Firehouse and had an incredibly disappointing experience. We were seated at our table in the front garden area, and within a minute, we were pressured to order water by an impolite and unfriendly server. The server, a woman with glasses and an Italian accent, did not give us an opportunity to consider our choices, even though I was on the phone and my colleague was still deciding. She returned to our table and asked us again in a very aggressive manner. I informed her that her behaviour was rude, but she still would not stop. We were shocked and decided to leave. We have been regular customers of the Chiltern Firehouse for the past ten years and have never encountered such rude and unpleasant behaviour from any of the staff. It is regrettable that the standards of service have declined to this extent.

The food was good but overpriced for what you get. Service was decent. What ruined it? My sister and I went out to their courtyard after dinner and took one picture, but we were rudely scolded by what seemed like security—or maybe a manager—who said the area was closed and that they could have license issues if people sat there. I explained that we were only taking a picture after dining there and that you have to cross the courtyard to exit anyway. He rudely walked away without any further explanation. They also added an 'optional service fee' of 15%. Absolutely not. I wasn’t giving a cent to the managers or front-of-house staff who barely acknowledged me. I made them take it off and gave a tip directly to my server, who was actually kind. Owners—YOU should pay your staff a living wage or build it into the cost of the food instead of making customers awkwardly ask to remove the fee.

Elegent surroundings, smart and snappy service with a smile, lovely food, a cocktail and wine list to make you wince. We had a thoroughly wonderful afternoon in the garden on a lovely summer day. We loved the Firehouse Caesar, the Pâté en Croûte, and the prawns. We shared the Pasta al Forno and it was too much for three, and coul have had more spice. We've enjoyed the oysters before. Hollywood stars are often seen (three on my visit) but don't ask for a selfie or try to take a sneeky shot unless you want to be back outside on Chiltern Street. She was from Lithuania and left the room perfect. Then the front desk staff, this beautiful brunette girl with blue eyes couldn’t have been nicer. We had breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks there and each place felt like a new experience. I loved the Belgium waiter who was beyond nice. Also the girl from the North (with a pro dad soccer player) made my dad feel so special. Shout out to Mo and Terence who were also so sweet. They went above and beyond. Not only did my dad fall in love with London, my new home, but he fell in love with this hotel. I am sure he will be back and will stay nowhere but here. I'm surprised this restaurant has any bad reviews! We loved it. We are a family of 4 (parents in our 40s and a 13 and 15 year old), visiting from California. I booked it because I was looking for a place with a lively/stylish atmosphere and good food that wasn't too stiff/fancy, since we are traveling with teens. This place was perfect. First, it was packed, in a good way. I saw a few families like ours (American couples with older kids, dressed nicely [not in touring clothes] who presumably had chosen it for the same reasons we had), but for the most part, everyone seemed to be local and very much enjoying themselves. The food was great, and we followed our waitress's recommendation to choose something woodfired since that is their specialty. As a result, I ordered the chicken and my husband the pork (when we would normally order fish), and the kids ordered steaks. I am not sure I've had better chicken ever, and my husband felt the same way about the pork. Our teens liked the steaks, too. The sommelier engaged us in a lively discussion of California v. French wines (we know far more about the former, coming from Northern California), and guided us to the correct choices. Both he and our waitress were fun and charming, and very attentive. My husband kept telling me this was a perfect choice for us. With the wine, it was certainly pricey, but we felt it was worth it. Would love to come back for breakfast sometime--the pancake photo on Tripadvisor keeps catching my eye.

Booked in advanced for dinner. Visiting the first time with friends, asked if we could sit in the terrace to which we were told there no availability. Unfortunately this was a lie as in fact there was space the whole time we were there. The lady at the front desk didn’t seem keen on a group of women. Additionally, there was a worm in the food, for which the staff measly apologised but didn’t seem too fussed about considering it was a serious problem, especially given all the attitude around sitting and dining there. On top of it the wait staff try to rush you, overall the whole experience was a let down, the place is overhyped. We had been to Scott’s night before where they were much more welcoming and ended up sitting and chatting for hours with friends without so much of a whisper for us to leave - and that too at full capacity that Chiltern Firehouse were claiming. Not worth the time or money.

We went to the restaurant and this is only in regards to that. One day I'll spend over £260 (>$300!!) on a meal for my partner and I, and have a good meal. Tonight was not that night. Portion sizes were hilarious (I literally got one scallop as an appetizer... For almost £20, we were hoping to have at least more than one so my partner might have one) and the meals didn't even come with sides, which was surprising and not mentioned to us beforehand. Drinks were over £20 and less than mediocre. Stuff I'd expect to run maybe 8-10 bucks in the states, taste wise at least. The bill came and a 15% service charge had already been added, which seemed fair. Service was friendly but not overly attentive and we went long periods without any water.. So I added 0% for additional tip. Upon seeing that, our server who had previously been friendly/cordial tossed our receipt at us and turned away without another word. A little on the dramatic side but at least gave us a laugh at the end of an extremely underwhelming dining experience. Not sure if these guys used to be good and maybe they're just running on fumes or their previous reputation, but we would never recommend this place and will be passing such along to the travel company that booked us. We had a celebratory brunch in the courtyard one Sunday - the food and drinks when they eventually arrived were fantastic. However service was slow and we had to witness what can only be described as tirade by one very rude customer who thought he was above everyone else as he revoked a £50 tip from a poor waiter. Overall was satisfied until I was going through my Amex bill a couple weeks later only to find they had, without warning, a phone call or any other contact, charged me a £150 no show fee. When I called them to ask about it, I spoke to man called Alexi who would not refund the money until I emailed him proof I had been there, despite me being able to give him clear account of where we had sat and the incident that had occurred. His response was ‘I have no idea who was working that day and it has been almost two weeks’. Wow. Safe to say I won’t be returning - there are plenty of hotspots in london that are run better than this place. There is a definite air of wealth and entitlement associated with this establishment and it doesn’t improve the experience in any way.

Went to Chiltern Firehouse a few days ago and was quite disappointed to say the least. We booked ~2 months in advance for 2 people. On arrival, they told us that we didn’t have a booking, even though we showed them the confirmation email. The staff appeared a bit frustrated (good start) and then sat us outside as there were no tables inside, reassuring us that it would be warm (which it wasn’t). After being sat down, we were told we need to order in 5 minutes as they will be closing the outside dining space in about an hour. Would have been great to know that before being sat down outside… Ordered food and wine - ridiculously expensive for the small portion sizes. Many other better restaurants with far better service for the same price or cheaper. We were also not given any napkins or water - despite asking for it twice. Will gladly not be returning.

Restaurant review only - very pleasant spot outside under the canopy. All the service we had was efficient and friendly. We just had a light lunch of pasta which was nothing special for the price, small in size and lacked any seasoning. I've had better for far less elsewhere. Having looked at the rest of the menu and the prices, not sure I'd come for dinner.

The most rude and unfriendly reception staff in London! Even if the terrace is totally empty the lady refuses to let well dressed people have a quick coffee / breakfast. The reasons given were adapted as we spoke: firstly the reason given was that they had reached “service staff capacity to serve guests” when I pointed out that a group of people had just left so there should be capacity, she rudely said “now we reached walk in capacity”. The. She admitted she just doesn’t want to let us in…. Nasty

This was my 2nd time at the restaurant. Beautiful setting. Was very please with my 1st experience. Meal, wine, ambiance, staff, all excellent. Sat outside. The last visit was in the evening. I sat inside. Was bringing an out of town guest their 1st time. We order the caviar. Wonderful. Main meal, not so much. The Beef tenderloin was unchewable. I had to literally remove 2 pieces from my mouth and tuck it under the watercress. Could not chew. The Crab Linguine was luke warm. I brought this to the waiters attention. There was no offer to replace the dish or remove from the bill. Waiter then asked us to top up the tip!! Apparently the automatic tip on the bill go to the team and not the waiter. Now if the waiter paid attention to my disappointment of the unchewable pieces of meat or luke warm pasta, maybe an extra tip would be warranted. The meal should match the grandeur and pomp. This experience did not. Catch them on a good night!! Send meal back if unchewable. My mistake.

This is a review of the restaurant only. The food was fantastic, the best chicken I’ve had in a while, and the most tender white meat marinated in citrus. Highlights were the steak and the chicken. If you are sensitive to smoke, be warned that sitting outside may expose you to other costumers smoking. We sat outside and it was otherwise very comfortable with blankets and heat lamps.

Dined at the restaurant and it’s very good and would definitely recommend to visit here. My family and I was seated inside the main dining room and the restaurant atmosphere is excellent however, there is an outside courtyard which looks amazing to dine in. The menu is quite simple, but I like that and the flavours were fantastic. There is a child menu and the staff made my son of 7 years old feel very special. Service was top level and the main reason I want to come back, the French 🇫🇷 waitress was so nice to speak with as well as the rest of the staff. In summary, just a great place to dine with friends and family.

I am extremely disappointed with the behavior of the staff at this establishment. They were incredibly rude and disrespectful towards me, making me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. I had high expectations when I came here, but I left feeling frustrated and upset. I demand that the management address this issue and ensure that all staff members treat customers with respect and courtesy.

Second visit here. First time I didn’t see what the fuss was about, it was quite average to be honest. Last night however was one of the best meals I’ve had in many years. Scallops and octopus to start followed by a Barnsley chop and iberico pork. The pork was absolutely incredible and takes the mantle from The Hairy Pig in Stockholm as the best pork I’ve ever tasted. If I had one minor criticism, the Barnsley chop was a little tough. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic, very knowledgeable, very attentive and we both commented it was possibly the best service we have had in London. The sommelier, likewise. Not pushy, understood our price point and recommended a fantastic Chablis which was thoroughly enjoyed. The after dinner cocktails were a perfect end to a perfect night on a special occasion for us. Thank you team CFH and if you can share the secret of the dark brown sauce on the side of the iberico pork we’d be most grateful!

I am not sure if the waitresses work for us or we work for them. When you say “excuse me” one of them didn’t bother to turn her body toward our table. You need to order same drink to 3 different waiters. Funny service team don’t know who works for who at a restaurant. Lastly if you want to change table; the rude and funny waitress asked me to speak to the manager. Then, I asked her to speak to her manager as I am supposed to be a customer. Such nice ambiance on the highway to the bottom with worst service team.

Saturday dinner for four costed us over £700, which I think is insane. £100 of that was just for service, which is ludicrous (15% service charge. This is not NYC, guys, to pay big money for a very average service. Our waiter managed to speak to just one of the four guests, completely ignored women at the table, was speaking really fast when describing menu recommendations like he just had to do it but didn’t care whether it was helpful or not; he also hadn’t managed to smile once - if you are in a hospitality business, maybe you should consider being hospitable. If you can’t, then don’t charge 15% SC!). Food was great quality, very tasty, although portions are on the smaller side. The best two dishes for me were pork and crab linguine. We also had a venison steak, men loved that one, pizza was very average so wouldn’t order that again. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night, but there was no good vibe

We went to the restaurant and the food was delicious. We sat at the chef counter and loved. The wine list great and they serve some extremely great wines by the glass so if you are with a partner that doesn’t drink you can still order a decent wine by the glass. We had octopus which was 5 stars then we shared a place of pork ribeye on the bone again delicious. They also have 48hrs marinated chicken which is special. My wife had some virgin cocktails and it was very impressive! Price is £££££ but it’s worth the experience on a special occasion I will certainly come back.

What an extremely disappointing experience it was ! 244 £ bill for two persons. (Including 15% tip, meaning 31£ that were arbitrarily added by the waiter). My avocado and quinoa salad was absolutely tasteless (no sauce, no condiment … I imagine no passion by the chef). The octopus was minuscule. Pasta was so badly presented and looked like a mess in the plate ! I had to ask twice the waiter about ketchup and mayonnaise for the fries we ordered. And he kept forgetting… In spite of the 31£ tip, the waiter still came over with the credit card machine display indicating if we wanted to add an extra 5/10/15% and when I said that I am fine with the 31£ he put on the bill, he clearly snobbed me and turned his face the other way when I said “thank you and good night”. Honestly? Horrible experience (not forgetting the smell coming out of the open kitchen … check the aspiration system my friends …) Not at all the 5* level I expected

Myself and two daughters booked this restaurant for a Mother’s Day meal. We arrived early so asked if we could have a drink first. The hostess at the door was friendly but tried to tell my daughter how to pronounce her own name!! We were then ping ponged back and forth between the bar and restaurant and met by numerous rude front of house staff who said we couldn’t sit here or they couldn’t find our name on the booking. Eventually we were taken back to the bar and met by a rude and arrogant tall blonde host and told we couldn’t sit at a free table, the way she spoke and acted towards us was laughable, by this point I was ready to walk out. I have ate at lots of excellent bars and restaurants all over the world, and have never been treated in this manner before. The restaurant itself was very mediocre, expensive for what you get and very pompous. This place needs to read the reviews on here and do something about their staff, mainly front of house management (the girls in black dresses). Safe to say I will definitely not be going back to this establishment.

Wow, reading all the negative reviews I can’t believe this is the same place we went to ! Great staff, really good food, fantastic atmosphere and Tiramsui to die for !! I would agree that it’s on the expensive side but then of my £320 bill nearly half was drinks which was my choice, so no more expensive than any where else in London ( mind you got charged for 2 waters and only got one, but the very large helping of Tiramisu made up for that ! ) we loved the place and we will be back but please CF if the neg reviews are true ( there are a lot of people out there who will just give a crap review for a minor infraction or to boost their own inflated ego ) make sure you make it the same as it was yesterday for us !! PS. On the table next to us a couple had there main course delayed for what ever reason, waiter very apologetic when it was served, and a manger came by 2 minutes later to apologise again, very professional . Strange.

Wanted to check out the hotel because of the fame associated with it. Sat at the hotel bar and had a few drinks. Our bartender was Jon, he was friendly, made brilliant cocktails and told us some great stories about the hotel and his life. Great atmosphere, and a fair price point. Will definitely eat here next time (there was a private party the next day so I was unable to make a reservation).

We went as a group of girls for a celebration. We knew the live music element & that was fun but it was constant throughout, we could not have a discussion as it was loud & constant & so dark you couldn't see the menu or each other well. To make it worse it accompanied by terrible food, we recieved a glass of champagne as part of the brunch deal but it was warm, so had to send every single one back. The choice of food was extremely limiting & absolutely not worth £75 a head for 1 warm champagne some eggs as a starter & a basic pasta dish. the highlight was the desert but it was only a waffle & fruit. Such a let down, I think the novelty in years passed has well & truly gone.

We lunched with friends and had very good food and service. All at a very reasonable cost for the centre of London. I got an email after booking to say we could be restricted in time at the table. As we were meeting friends from overseas, I queried this possibility and was assured we could take our time. Pleased I did this as we nearly went elsewhere...!
