The Chicken Shack in Torridge

If I could have given no stars I would have! Ordered food for delivery, it arrived in a shocking state, the chicken skin was falling off, it was a greasy mess! Scabby bits of chicken that looked very unappealing. The wings were similar, wet, greasy, skin falling off, not crunchy or properly southern fried. We didn’t get everything we ordered and it was missing 1 can of drink and also 2 chicken strips. Unacceptable quality of food and will never order from here again.

I ordered a delivery from The Chicken Shack and it was by far the worst and most disappointing experience I've had when ordering food. The chicken burger, which was not cheap, was frugally filled with nothing but the soggy chicken patty and a token dollop of tasteless sauce. The chips were equally soggy and the chicken wings...

Awesome staff, very friendly with a family feel. Love the food, always fresh and cooked well. Always a treat.

Portions have reduced by half . Now can’t order over the phone , staff are very unhelpful and just pass you from one person to another . This was an amazing takeaway until a couple of weeks ago . I would not recommend this place . Last order was cold and incomplete

Absolutely appalled at the service received. The Just Eat menu does not state that the chicken wings are hot so we were both surprised and disappointed when we received extremely spicy wings, as this left my son without a meal. When I called to try and sort it out, I was greeted with being told they can’t do anything about it ‘my darling’ as it says they’re hot on the restaurant menu and maybe I should order from that! Sexist, rude, and unable to accept that they have made a mistake. A small refund for the wings that couldn’t be eaten or a replacement portion of something for my son and delivery of the drink that never turned up would have been enough for us to return, but nothing, not even an apology. Customer service 0, new customer 0.

Ordered 2 chicken kebabs through Just Eat on a quiet Tuesday evening whilst staying in Appledore. Email confirmation estimated delivery by 7pm. Not having arrived by 7.20 we phoned up to discover it had not printed out at their end and eventually arrived 2 hours after we ordered. Chicken was over cooked and very dry. Pitta bread like stiff cardboard. ‘Regular’ chips - I dread to think what small would have looked like! Side salad and sauce very good and free bottle of pop a nice gesture but wouldn’t use again if in the area.

Ordered a takeaway from here last night. The kebab had so much mayo on it started to make me feel sick. The onion rings and chips were soggy and undercooked. The chicken skin was nice but very salty and the actual chicken was so over cooked it was practically inedible. This morning both me and my husband have woken up with bad stomachs. Stay away!!

Food was almost cold and 90 mins later from ordering. Chicken had no crisp to it atal. Third time I’ve been here but this time was Absolutely crap.. I would not recommend anybody using these idiots to deliver even some chips. Driver seemed drunk and had no idea where he was going although clear instructions were given whist the order was made.. Ridiculous!!

Awful no salad in are burgers no sauce burgers was like rubber chicken was really dry and burn buns.

Great food. Best round for fried chicken. Always use this as our go to takeaway. Highly rate. One time they forgot something from my order and were back ASAP and apologised, even upgraded my order 😊

I got the peri peri chicken from here. The flavor was pretty good, and the chicken wasn't too dry. I would come here again if it was something I was in the mood for, I wanted something quick, and I happen to be in the area.

The staff was very angry and shouty in front of customers My food was cold however Burnt. One the staff shouted at a young girl and was quite frightening I wouldn’t recommend eating hear

I would highly recommend this place as the best in town by far. Excellent prices, great value for money and absolutely amazing food. Our family loves this place and their breaded chicken burger is the best!! Thank you!

Food was absolutely awful. Burger was burnt and rock solid. Garlic mushrooms were soggy and cold. Hot wings cold and some under cooked along with the chicken piece. All boxes broken and covered in oil. Even though it might be busy there is no excuse for under cooked chicken. Won't be eating here again

We ordered for home delivery... took a while to get to us at just over an hour....but it was worth every minute!Honestly amazing food! I had the Piri chicken burger.... so much chicken and it was beautiful.Husband had the calzone and said it perfect, just how he wanted it to taste.We will definitely be ordering again!Thank you :)

Had a not very nice morning went in the chicken shack was greeted warmly big smile small talk. Ordered my meal I had a 2 peice chicken meal witch includes a can and a side went for halloumi as been before and know how many chips they give was delicious I also had a coffee witch came with a chocolate egg with is cute and very much appreciated. Staff were helpful and friendly throughout will be back.

Just happened to stumble across this fantastic place on way home. The chicken was amazing and took a pizza home which was also amazing. A hidden gem.

We’ve visited the Chicken Shack several times and on every occasion the food and service has been excellent. They cook all of the food from fresh, so at busy times there can be a little wait, but it’s worth it. You can see into the kitchen where the food is being cooked and it all looked immaculately clean. All the staff were wearing spotless branded orange uniforms, someone obviously keeps very high standards at this place.Would recommend a visit to the Chicken Shack if you are in Bideford and fancy some freshly cooked fried chicken or a burger. They also do a great selection of sides and drinks as well. One thing to note is that all the chicken seemed to be proper fresh chicken as oppose to that reformed stuff that you get in many places.They do home delivery which we’ve not tried but seems to be very popular with lots of orders going out whilst we were there.

We went straight from a day at the beach and were served and seated straight away. Staff were very attentive and professional at all times, nothing was too much trouble. Food arrived piping hot and very generous portions,I was very impressed with the value for money prices.We were not rushed at anytime to eat up and vacate the table, very relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bideford.

Came across by chance looking for somewhere to eat early evening. Great pizzas, pleasant attentive staff, nice decor all very clean. In all worth travelling to Bideford for!

Called in today for a late lunch after visiting the area. The young lady who served us was extremely happy, polite and helpful, also the two older gentleman were attentive and happy. I had a burger which was very tasty and piping hot and my Mother had the chicken wrap which again was tasty and hot. Well done to you all and it is so nice being served by a happy young lady who was polite and seemed to enjoy her work.

Nice and friendly, good menu. Had chicken burger which was a whole breast of succulent and well cooked chicken. Only downfall was the length of time from order to the food arriving to out table. Still worthy of 4 stars will be back, soon!
