Every now and then my husband and I go away, just for one night, to spend some quality time with each other away from family worries and work. We don't tend to go far as my father has dementia and I'm his medical contact should he fall ill. We chose The Cherry Tree in Woodbridge for our trip this time and arrived to find a beer festival was in progress and a band was setting up. Not the type of break we had expected, but what a great evening we had. The staff were lovely, the beer was amazing and the food... the best homemade steak burger I've ever had, and my husband was impressed with the think slices of ham, egg and chips he had. The menu was extensive, and we could of had anything from curries and steaks to jacket potatoes and fully loaded sandwiches, there was something for every taste and full children's menu board too. As for accommodation, this was in a building across from the beer garden. We had the loft apartment (above the other two rooms available). A spacious, clean, comfortable room with everything you would expect from a B&B (tea/coffee, TV, bathroom towels, shampoo and body wash), ensuite bathroom with over bath shower and an exceptionally comfortable king sized bed... we slept very well. Breakfast (served between 9 and 11am on Sundays) was from a list of at least 10 items, with batista style beverages. We enjoyed the Full English breakfast, it was delicious and extremely filling. To answer the usual TA questions, yes dogs were allowed, yes there is off road parking, yes a play area for children and yes we will probably go back again in the future. Surrounding area... Notcutts garden centre across the road, historic Woodbridge is well worth a look, fabulous walk along the river (takes approx 2 hours loop walk) and Ufford Park Golf and leisure just up the road through Melton (amazing Spa facilities) Happy travels x

A lovely looking pub with a range of drinks options available and a fantastic beer garden. Opted to dine inside. For starter, I had fishcake and my friend had pork tacos. Verdict was ok. The fishcakes were a bit dry, but rescued by a lovely light parsley sauce with leeks. For mains, I had beef goulash and my friend had local ham, egg and chips. More impressed with the main courses, aside from the ghoulash needing a little more beef in it. I counted about 4 or 5 pieces and a table nearby reported the same. Very tasty though. Desserts were both the creveaux, which was essentially strawberries, cream and biscuit - that's not a criticism as it was lovely.

Food was OK but not good for the price, ham was cut as thin as possible, chips so hard not easy to eat and fried eggs hard, overall totally overpriced but staff very good. No salt and pepper just mayo and tomato ketchup but English mustard when we asked for it.

What a lovely place to visit for a cosy family meal on a Friday lunchtime. The staff were friendly and efficient, the fire was burning and the food was exactly what we were hoping for. Plenty of menu options and a specials list which all looked very appealing. Great choice of draught beers too

Hey, listen. We see this all over the place but. It's wrong. We were out with friends last night. Even bumped into bloody Spurs supporters: That's how much fun it was. The evening revolved round live music.......always good right? We ordered a meal. My wife is Coeliac so needs a Gluten free diet. Look.....a dietary need.......not just a life style choice, like some. The menu said....something like....fish stew with ciabata bread. As you can tell, I can't spell "Ciabatta". That was offered with a gluten free option, so the appropriate request was ordered. All the orders were made, only to find that, at the end, the "gluten free" option, was that you had no bread at all. Come on guys. Any visit to your nearest supermarket will help you out. Your "option" was pathetic and just not acceptable. Try to pick up in your kitchen. You should be better than this. The rest of the evening was great.

The Cherry Tree is by far the best pub in Woodbridge. Has everything I want out of a pub; nice outdoor seating, cozy interior, board game section and an amazing food/drink menu. The staff are incredibly welcoming and are the main reason my friends and I are inclined to return. We love drinking tea and the staff always make an effort to give us pretty teapots as we mentioned one time we liked them. Also, they have a pub quiz every Thursday that gets very competitive, my friends and I always come last (but we get the last place chocolate they give away!). Truly a one-of-a-kind pub!

A Gorgeous gem of a pub. A Proper old cosy building. We had a fantastic meal sat in front of a large open fire. The staff kept topping it up with logs and it was the perfect setting for a freezing January evening. The food was excellent, my partner called his ‘Outstanding’. I particularly enjoyed a delicious rhubarb desert encased in a sweet crispy pastry. Friendly staff, brilliant service.

Stayed at The Cherry Tree recently, in the Regatta Room. Very spacious and well equipped, bed very comfy. Appreciated coffee machine and generous complimentary water bottles. Checked-in by Ryan, very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately not able to stay for breakfast, but they did offer to make a sandwich for me to take away for my journey. Great location for short walk into Woodbridge town centre or the riverside area. Highly recommended and will definitely stay here again.

We came here for a weekend break away. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the pub is welcoming with gorgeus open fires and the breakfast and two evening meals we had were really good. Not too expensive. Great location for walking dogs along the river and strolling into town. The outside accommodation let the experience down. The bed linen and towels are old and cheap. The bathrooms could do with a make-over, or at least a proper clean. Mould on tiles.

There is a large and comfortable area for outdoor seating or you can eat inside. There is the regular menu, posted on boards inside and outside, there is also a printed special menu. A signature dish is the nachos, which can be ordered either as an appetizer or as a main. The appetizer size is enough to feed a normal person. We had a pastrami sandwich, chicken liver spread, cheese board, and halloumi cheese, all were beautifully presented and tasty. The only problem was the cheese board was served with crackers, I would have preferred bread as well. Service is friendly and efficient.

We had an evening meal on our first night in the pub, there was plenty of choice and all the meals were very nice. Called into the cherry tree for a mid week lunch. The staff were very polite and helpful, but unfortunately didn’t reflect on the standard of food. We went straight to the main course, my wife had the brisket chilly and I went for the beer battered fish and chips. The chilly was lacking in both spicy heat and food temperature. The fish and chips was edible, but the accompanying mushy peas were sweet to taste and very unusual. I was unable to eat them at all.. The dessert cheesecake was palatable but didn’t reflect the £8 price tag. All in all we found the eating area and furniture in need of a lot of TLC and the food quality didn’t match the high price. We will not be recommending or returning anytime soon.

My Wife and I had Lunch here today, this is a fantastic place, ample parking, friendly professional staff in this quintessential English Pub. The food is excellent with varied and interesting specials, they are able to cater for my Wife’s dietary requirements too. We had an unfortunate incident where the pepper dispenser failed and emptied onto my Wife’s meal. The Staff were outstanding, they apologised profusely and immediately offered to replace the meal which arrived within 5 minutes and was clearly a completely new dish. We were very happy, it’s easy to be good when things are going well, but you really find out about the standard of service when things go wrong and I must say that this fantastic. So I can not recommend the Cherry Tree highly enough.

A last minute visit to see some friends in Woodbridge and this was a pub recommended to us as somewhere we could get a good meal before heading off to a concert. Pulled up in the carpark and met by a pair of labradors who knew their way to the pub entrance told me that this was an obviously well used by the locals. (Always a good sign). Greeted by friendly staff who allowed us to choose any table that was free or if reserved kindly asked us to make make sure we had time to finish our meal before the reservation time. We ended up with a lovely table by the fire and were quickly offered menus by the attentive staff. Being an Adnams pub it was great to see low alcohol Ghost Ship on tap as well as their normal selection from the Adnams range. A wide range of food on the menu and I settled for the Fish & Chips with my wife having the Fish Cakes. Dessert was just as well received being. We couldn’t fault the food or service during the meal and will definitely return again.

This older waitress then came to serve us , we asked to see a drinks menu but in a rude and cold attitude she replied that she had one in her head , as a paying customer I would like to see what options are available and what i will be paying for. this is unacceptable. I finally made a decision on what to drink based on what she had told me , and I was the only one on my table who made a decision on what to drink as the other where deciding, she then made me pay for this drink and told me I had to leave after I had finished my drink as they would need the table back for more customers but the place was empty with many tables around. We were fortunate to eat outside at The Cherry Tree on the last Wednesday of the Eat Out To Help Out scheme. It was the only day it didn’t rain that week. Our table was tucked in the corner of the garden and we all felt very safe. Ordering was well organised with no need to stand at the bar, and the food was its usual high standard. I had the ‘small’ nachos to start, which could have easily been a light main, followed by the prawn and mussel pasta. It was a little on the creamy side, but still tasty and generously portioned. Unfortunately the pub had run out of a few Adnams beers (unsurprisingly that week), but I was perfectly happy with my Ghost Ships, one alcoholic and one alcohol-free. With £10 off per head, it was great value.

Not socially distanced, too busy and poor service tonight. Disappointed as we went on Monday and we got the table we booked, the pub was socially distanced, it felt safe and the meal was good. Sadly tonight we went back and they messed up the specific pre-booked table and we ended up in a side room that wasn't socially distanced (less than 1m to people on next table, which didn't feel safe and felt very uncomfortable), pub was too busy, service was slow and my daughter found sharp plastic in her meal. Shame as the pub is nice looking and within walking distance from where we stay in Woodbridge and we had a couple of nice meals here when we last came.

Visited the Cherry Tree with friends, we called at lunch time and we were pleased to be able to get a table in the beer garden. The Pub has been set up well to comply with Covid protection requirements. It was easy to get served and to pay. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, but the most important thing was the food was excellent and served in good time. Whilst not the cheapest place to eat, the quality of food was worth the little extra. I have no hesitation in recommending a visit.

We managed to book a table last minute for 6 of us on the way back from Pleasurewood hills. Staff who greeted us were lovely. Very friendly and the place was lovely and clean. The service great and the food amazing. The burgers were just gorgeous and the kid’s loved their meals. Will definitely visit again x

We decided to have lunch here. We have been here before but not for a while. This is an Adnams pub so you are guaranteed quality. Due to Covid 19 restrictions ordering was slightly different. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a large enclosed rear garden to enjoy. The inside of the pub is quite spacious. The food menu has a good choice. The food was hot and tasty. Prices are average. There is a decent car park at the rear. Worth a visit. One of our favourite pubs in Suffolk.

We’ve just spent 5 days in Woodbridge to catch up with family and friends. On our first evening we went to the Cherry and we were so glad we did as we returned 4 more times. Not only was the pub itself lovely but the staff were absolutely brilliant in making us feel safe in these difficult times without making the experience unnerving.I cannot speak highly enough of the welcoming atmosphere, great service and fantastic beers!

Just returned from the Cherry Tree after spending a weekend there and it was great!! We arrived on Saturday and had a drink and lunch before checking in - the staff were friendly and there is a well stocked bar. The sandwiches were fresh with ample filling and the chips were to die for (we had cheesy chips with bacon). Our accommodation was lovely - we had the broadside room which was clean and well maintained and the decor was pleasant! The bed was really comfortable and we had everything we needed with tea/coffee etc and homemade biscuits. The breakfast today was one of the best I'd ever had (full english) with local produce. The sausages were very good quality and my poached eggs were cooked to perfection. I have to admit I couldn't finish it all because of the generous portion size but what I did eat I couldn't fault!!I would certainly recommend staying here and I can't wait to return!! Well done to all the staff there - you made my weekend!

This pub has lovely staff and great food , especially the Sunday roast . Great for vegetarians too . The only downfall was the amount of tables packed into a small space . Going into this pub with a push chair would be difficult as would a wheelchair I think . Overall a lovely place to eat xxx

Dropped into the Cherry Tree at the end of a dog walk. Good food served here, the sausage sandwich was fantastic and the cheesy chips a good side order. Dog friendly and very welcoming.

We enjoyed our best meal at The Cherry Tree on Saturday after a few hit and miss experiences previously. We were initially disappointed to be put on a cramped table by the busy bar, but fortunately we were able to move despite being told the pub was fully booked. All three courses were superb; I’d never tried pigeon, but the pigeon breast and black pudding starter was fantastic, likewise the lamb leg steak we all ordered as a main. The steak itself was both delicious and enormous, and the sweet potato fries and mint butter were perfect accompaniments. We did have a long wait for our ginger puddings, but they were definitely worth it, not least as the barman took them off our bill, which he didn’t have to do. The barmaid was also very apologetic and couldn’t have done more to get our desserts out as soon as possible. Were it not for these very kind gestures, I probably would have dropped a star from the rating. However, we didn’t leave disappointed after the meal, and that is testament to the Cherry Tree’s wonderful staff, including the chefs.

I arranged my aunt's funeral wake here. Spoke to a very friendly and helpful guy who I took to be the landlord. Food and costs discussed, tea and coffee to be provided but any other drinks to be purchased at the bar. On the day, a nice spread of food, attractive pub and helpful staff. Five stars so far! One slight grumble with the food but I didn't say anything. Home made quiches that had obviously been frozen and then put out on plates. They were very cold and watery underneath where they had defrosted. Not good but wasn't about to make a fuss. Then the real upset came. I found that their was no tea and coffee available and people were buying it at the bar. I was mortified. So embarrassing. You always get tea and coffee at a wake. it looked as though we had stinted on things. I spoke to an older lady behind the bar who insisted that they would not have agreed to provide tea and coffee. Both male members of staff (1 being the landlord were not there) and because I had trusted them and had nothing in writing I was powerless. By then a lot of people had already purchased hot drinks. The young girl behind the bar was apologetic and kind but said she was unable to do anything. After the funeral I sent an email to the landlord raising my concerns and he never bothered to answer.

Great friendly gastropub in a beatiful village. We really enjoyed our stay here - there are two shepherds huts in the garden so we were able to enjoy afternoon drinks in the lovely garden followed by dinner, more drinks and then bed! Andy and the team made us feel very welcome, including our dogs. The huts are very comfortable and well equipped. Good value all round. We will be back :)

Food was excellent and we particularly liked the possibility of having adult small portions for some meals. Wide menu and plenty of choice of drinks. Bar staff helpful and friendly and generally a good atmosphere. In fact we liked it so much that we called in again for lunch on our way home at the end of our holiday f

Came up last weekend for a family meal for my mums birthday, the menu was lovely and a good price. I would definitely recommend going, such a good atmosphere. The bartender ciara was lovely and helped with everything we needed and we really appreciated the help we got

Proper tasty home cooked food. Eaten here 3 times during our weeks stay in the area. The downside is the road from Debenham to Cretingham - it’s very narrow but nowt Yorkshire folk can’t handle. Although my hubby was a bit disgruntled that you only served Roast Pork as a roast on a Sunday lunch and no Yorkshire Puds - he’s a Beef and Yorkshire Pud chap!! the food has been exceptionally tasty and the staff amazingly friendly. Highly recommend a visit

First time back in here since new management. It's safe to say The White Horse is back!! Fully stocked bar, good choice of beers, very welcoming host. It has only been back open a month, so they have started with a small menu to get started and it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious food and served promptly. They have just taken on a second chef and are aiming to expand their menu shortly. Will definitely be back! Oh and their Christmas Dinner Menu looks delicious and very reasonabley priced.
