The Chequers in Hart

We visited the Chequers for my wifes birthday in October 24 and were thoroughly impressed. We were therefore very shocked at the poor quality of last nights meal. The starters were good but the main courses were disappointing to say the least. The burgers my daughters had looked like something from McDonalds. Not at all what you would expect for an £18 gastropub version. My wifes veggie lasagne looked like it just came out of a microwave packet. We had to send the creamed spinach back as it was about 6 spinach leaves swimming in cream. And my Coq au vin was poor quality chicken and tasteless. When the waiter came over to ask if the meal was nice we gave an honest assessment, but it seems that feedback went as far as that. Won’t be coming back anytime soon. Not sure if the chef has changed since October but the quality of the food certainly has.

The food we had was quite dry and lacking in flavour. The service was quite slow, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. The price of the food seemed extortionate for the quality provided.

All brilliant here. Lunch , yeh it's just great here, food really good , atmosphere just right , staff awesome, breakfast is also spot on , real ales , this pub is all you need.

A few things went wrong with our order, wasn't ideal but willing to try again and hope it was a one off. Lovely garden and nice staff.

A fantastic little pub with low ceiling but packed with history and atmosphere. Good selection of beers and food on the menu, and a large outdoor dining area. I would recommend if you are dining indoor on a Friday night to make a reservation. The baked cheese was a great starter, and the fish n chips perfect.

We were received well upon arrival and immediately seated to our table. The food portions were generous and the quality of food was amazing. The waiting staff, Freddie, Lucy and another young lady were very attentive and friendly. Really enjoyed the ambience.

Unexpectedly good find and worth the trip! Specials for the day really thought through and well presented.

Food was very tasty and arrived promptly. Service was very good, will come again.

Just had my 50th birthday party at The Chequers, and wanted to say a big thank you to Laura and the team, who made it an evening to remember. Great atmosphere, superb food, and a wonderful, friendly team. Highly recommend The Chequers as a venue for anyone looking to celebrate their birthday in style.

A great place to eat and meet with friends. I’ve had family dinners and dates. Yesterday’s lunch was taken over a long afternoon. So nice to be able to relax in a place like this

Wow ! what disgusting customer service. Restaurant ‘Manageress’ spent half an hour loudly chatting to a table of her friends and totally ignored us waiting to order. Dark hair and glasses. Plus, customers outside smoking near the door so have to walk past inhaling smoke.

Great food and atmosphere! The drinks came out a bit slowly, but only because they had an issue with the order printer. This is a MUST visit. I absolutely loved the steak pie! The chicken schnitzel and burger was also delicious 😋

This pub/restaurant has a great atmosphere, food and all the staff are super friendly and always welcoming and will do anything to go above beyond. I’ve recommend this place to friends and family, and hope other customers do the same

We had yet another fantastic meal at The Chequers at Eversley. Becky our waitress was very attentive too & interacted with us. I was a chef myself in the late 1980's then front of house & progressed to Managment too. Just one comment The salt & pepper 's were either empty or pepper in the salts! We swapped on other tables & the others were all the same!!!!!!

Just perfect birthday dinner. Service perfect level, great support with our kids on a Saturday night. Log fire, great ambiance. You can tell the place is a local gem.

Good food and service, pleasant evening with friends. Asked the waiter for the bill and to add 10% gratuity (about £30). He, however, decided to add 12.5% which I never noticed till I got home. A bit out of order. Puts one off going again.

We were so happy to find an open place on Sunday evening. The vibe was great and the staff friendly. It was pretty full and busy which is always a good sign. We had 2 courses each with a drink and coffee afterwards and spent abpu 35 Pounds each. It was worth every penny....the food was delicious, beautifully presented and a pretty good sized portion. I'd love to come back....

Only stopped for a quick drink but a very pleasant location with plenty of outside seating.

On a hot day having a cool drink with hummus and pitta bread was perfect!

We held a 70th birthday celebration for my mum with about 25 guests. We were able to reserve The Well area and some seating outside under the canopy. The staff were so accommodating and helpful throughout the whole process, and made it really easy to organise! We pre ordered some drinks for guests and organised a buffet from a set menu, which everyone really enjoyed. The staff looked after us so well, and really made my mum feel special.

Really enjoyed my first visits here, had a fab breakfast in a great setting with super lovely friendly staff, my friends have recommended returned for the Sunday roasts as apparently these are also amazing! I will definitely be returning thank you!

Visited with the family on Saturday. Lovely pub, but the beer is rather ropy, which is a shame.

Everyone at our party enjoyed their food. I enjoyed my starter, but the gammon on the special board that I had lacked any real flavour and was very unimpressive. I may have just been unlucky as this was the first time we had been there.

Great breakfast, nice atmosphere and they will swap black pudding for sausages now which is great. If you’ve not been in a while you will be very pleasantly surprised

Lovely pub with delicious food & ample parking. Have been to sister pub The Drummond at Albury & that's also worth a visit. Highly recommend both.

Visited here for breakfast as we have dined here in the evening several times before. However felt the breakfast was not great and overpriced for a average at best breakfast.

We were here for a couple of drinks recently, but I've eaten here before and the food has been spot on. One time we came at the end of a season when they were changing menus, while we weren't aware of it until after we'd chosen what to eat, the pub discounted the total from our bill which certainly made up for the limited menu! One thing for me is I'd like to see more real ales in rotation, I think they've got TEA and a lovely local beer Good Old Boy.

Only popped in for a drink. Quite cosy but the bar hasn't changed in decades so whilst I appreciate it's a very old building with low beams etc the split bar area might benefit from a rethink sometime? Service was OK but lacked any real personality I would say. I often find the younger staff lack the genuine enthusiasm for their jobs and it shows through.

Top service top food top layout, just been back service is impeccable, food device and at reasonable price Went back today top service and great staff, and given amazing recipe still, who cater to all.

Everytime I come here I have a great experience. Very helpful staff and always checking to make sure all is well. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Laura and her exceptional team for making our event at the Chequers so memorable! We booked the location for a private event to celebrate my dad's life, and from the point of approach to the execution of the day the level of service and care was outstanding! We had catering for 70 people. The food was outstanding, and the location added some personal requests to the menu for a truly bespoke selection of delicious options. The quality of the food, drink, location, and customer service was second to none. FANTASTIC!!! Treat yourself and make a booking. Thank you so much Laura and team. We will be back!!

One of the best Sunday Roasts ive had in the UK, absolutely massive portions with all the taste, also loved the pudding and potato top up service! Lovely cozy pub.

I have to say THE SUNDAY ROAST was a massive let down,,,all processed food ie; The pork was not freshly sliced ? only 2 slices and was mostly fatty,,the crackling i could of got over the bar in a packet the vegetable's were hard and under cooked? and the less said about the so called roast potatoes the better? were more like boiled ? not a crispy potatoes in sight? they seem to give you the biggest yorkshire pudding to hide the fact the rest is poor? but that's only because its the cheapest thing to give? and on that note me and my wife paid £109 for 2 x roast 2x glass of wine and 1 shandy , a coffee and a pudding??? i have to say over priced and poor food,,,shall not be returning. Shame because we support local business and this needs high lighting . Jason B

Had a family lunch here. The beer was good, the food OK and the people serving were good.

We are a big group of 25, pre ordered for Christmas lunch. The food was really good and they went the extra mile to make it a great family get together. Very busy pub and I can understand why, recommended that you book.
