We had yet another fantastic meal at The Chequers at Eversley. Becky our waitress was very attentive too & interacted with us. I was a chef myself in the late 1980's then front of house & progressed to Managment too. Just one comment The salt & pepper 's were either empty or pepper in the salts! We swapped on other tables & the others were all the same!!!!!!

Good food and service, pleasant evening with friends. Asked the waiter for the bill and to add 10% gratuity (about £30). He, however, decided to add 12.5% which I never noticed till I got home. A bit out of order. Puts one off going again.

We were so happy to find an open place on Sunday evening. The vibe was great and the staff friendly. It was pretty full and busy which is always a good sign. We had 2 courses each with a drink and coffee afterwards and spent abpu 35 Pounds each. It was worth every penny....the food was delicious, beautifully presented and a pretty good sized portion. I'd love to come back....

We held a 70th birthday celebration for my mum with about 25 guests. We were able to reserve The Well area and some seating outside under the canopy. The staff were so accommodating and helpful throughout the whole process, and made it really easy to organise! We pre ordered some drinks for guests and organised a buffet from a set menu, which everyone really enjoyed. The staff looked after us so well, and really made my mum feel special.

We were here for a couple of drinks recently, but I've eaten here before and the food has been spot on. One time we came at the end of a season when they were changing menus, while we weren't aware of it until after we'd chosen what to eat, the pub discounted the total from our bill which certainly made up for the limited menu! One thing for me is I'd like to see more real ales in rotation, I think they've got TEA and a lovely local beer Good Old Boy.

Only popped in for a drink. Quite cosy but the bar hasn't changed in decades so whilst I appreciate it's a very old building with low beams etc the split bar area might benefit from a rethink sometime? Service was OK but lacked any real personality I would say. I often find the younger staff lack the genuine enthusiasm for their jobs and it shows through.

I have to say THE SUNDAY ROAST was a massive let down,,,all processed food ie; The pork was not freshly sliced ? only 2 slices and was mostly fatty,,the crackling i could of got over the bar in a packet the vegetable's were hard and under cooked? and the less said about the so called roast potatoes the better? were more like boiled ? not a crispy potatoes in sight? they seem to give you the biggest yorkshire pudding to hide the fact the rest is poor? but that's only because its the cheapest thing to give? and on that note me and my wife paid £109 for 2 x roast 2x glass of wine and 1 shandy , a coffee and a pudding??? i have to say over priced and poor food,,,shall not be returning. Shame because we support local business and this needs high lighting . Jason B

We decided at the last minute to go for a late lunch, and thought that The Chequers would be a good option as we liked the look of their patio area. From the minute we arrived the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing! And I am not exaggerating! I had the mushroom special starter + skinny fries and it was lush! (I have asked that they add it to the standard menu as I will want this again next time!). The salted caramel and chocolate tarte was absolutely gorgeous - not too sweet, not too much (sad that I choose to share it with my daughter!). Genuinely the best meal we have had in a really long time, and we will definitely be back ;)

Amazing Sunday lunch yesterday - and such lovely friendly staff. Our original choice was the pub next door (no names but it really is next door) who sadly lost our booking of 9 and after spending 2 hours travelling from Kent they offered no help – but then in step Millie from the Chequers – she really did step up and hosted our table perfectly making us feel most welcome and even came round with extra roast potatoes and Yorkshires. Thank you to all in The Chequers – we will be back!!

Average food at ridiculous prices. Very nice location, which helps, but bad value for money compared with others locally. The service is usually ok, but the food is usually poor and sometimes cold. Drinks are often forgotten, but probably honest mistakes We've tried them so many times in the hope that things improve, but sadly not. They remain busy, because of the location, so probably don't need to change. Friday eves can be very rowdy there, with plenty of shouting and choice language from some types that go there to get hammered. Often, certain items on the menu won't be available, which is frustrating. If you leave a poor review you'll be asked to contact Laura which is a waste of time - I've tried twice with no response. We've decided to finally give up and go elsewhere. Shame, because the Chequers is local.

It was the perfect venue for a wake as there was no intrusive piped music, not too much light and lots of dark wood alcoves and nooks off the main area and suite of three adjoining rooms for the event. So everyone could mingle, or move into more quiet areas for reflections and memories in small groups. The food was laid out on a table next to a large floral tribute and beautiful photograph of deceased. The selection was delicious and generous with good quality meat and fish fillings and veggie options. A very suitable place to remember, and say goodbye

Booked a table for 7.15 on a Saturday only to be told of a number of items that were not available (bad management)!. We all chose starters to find that now two of these were off the menu, so had to choose again. When they finally arrived were cold and greasy. Mains were lack lustre too and certainly not worth the money that was being charged for them. On the whole service was slow and extremely disappointing what was supposed to be a special birthday meal.

I’ve been coming to Tylney since 2010 for special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries etc. sadly it’s gradually gone down hill and this will possibly be my last visit. I dined at the oak room this week and when the menu was put in front of me i had no idea what to order. The menu was outdated, stuffy and very overpriced. Long gone are the days where you sat in the library, had your amuse-bouch and marvelled at what to order. Your order was taken prior to your arrival at the oak room and your wine was waiting at your table for your arrival. I ended up ordering by eliminating either incredibly boring options like soup and ludicrously expensive ones like £47 Dover sole. I had the whipped goats cheese starter and the pork main. The food tasted nice but it really was nothing special. The menu was just lacking in creativity and provenance. Back in the day you’d walk in the oak room and there was live piano, candles on the table and the silver cloche covered your food and was beautifully removed when the dish was in front of you. All these details made the extra cost worth it. When you pair it all back sadly it’s just not worth it anymore. I know places like Tylney are incredibly expensive to run so some adjustments have to be made but these are the things that made it special and kept us coming back over the years. Places like The Pig have left Tylney behind. Perhaps it’s time to rethink the French menu for something with provenance, after all Hampshire is a rich county. Back in the heyday of Tylney Hall 20-30 years ago, I appreciate that English food and wine wasn’t as well known or at the level it is at today but it would perhaps be more imaginative, creative and attract more guests if the menu was adapted to be the ‘best of British’ - including all of the wonderful food that Hampshire and neighbouring counties can offer (including the wine!). Back in the 1990s this sort of traditional French menu felt exciting but by today’s culinary standards it is bland and mediocre. On this visit we also found out that the old snooker table is gone. It broke and it was taken away, never fixed. This is incredibly sad as it was a family tradition to have a game of snooker after dinner in a room which was full of history.
