The Chequers in Reigate and Banstead

For a Saturday evening it was more like a kiddies playground with the children running around the pub constantly. Not an adult quiet environment unfortunately that you would hope for. Many customers left and complained. This is a reoccurring issue. So disappointing as the pub in general is a great pub

Lovely pub, nice big garden area, good service especially considering it was mothers day so pretty busy! Food was tasty, puddings was ok but the mains were delicious. Decent selection of beers/ales and good selection of wines. Would happily go again and also gave mums a little gift which was a lovely touch.

Only our second visit, but as before, the welcome was warm, the service friendly and professional, and the food excellent. I had the pork belly bites to start, followed by the steak with hispi cabbage while my wife had the mussels then the chicken schnitzel. Great wine choices available too. Big thanks to Livvy and her colleague for looking after us.

Pub was pretty empty but the garden was great in the sun today, a great funky vibe on the sounds. Chicken escalope and pork crunchy bites. Top class. Service was great as well. Very dog friendly. Brilliant

I go out for a Sunday Roast every weekend and this is by far the worst experience. We saw the special board - sharing steak with roast trimmings at £52 - however, it was far from special. We asked for it medium rare, but was given to us very overdone. It wasn’t anywhere close to medium rare so they took it back and then waited an additional 30 mins for the meat to come out BLUE, along with soggy carrots and parsnips. After this no one cared to asked how our food was. We were not checked on after this, poor service. We had to ask 3 different people for the bill, and not one member of staff apologised. We started to eat but left half of the steak as shown on the picture as it was blue and extremely fatty. Left the restaurant after a £65 bill and still hungry. After reading the positive reviews and booking the table a week in advance this was really disappointing!

Popped in to watch the rugby and get the kids dinner. Was excellent to be fair, £17 for both kids fish and chips. Couple of pints of guinness (which was great also) £6.35 i believe per pint, and an hour or so of rugby was great. Add to that england beating france and it cant get much better 😁 but in all seriousness its a lovely local pub, even worth visiting if youre not from the local area

The place was quiet when we visited so it was nice to have a relaxing lunch. The food was very tasty and surprisingly well priced. The staff were also very polite and professional.

Lovely place. We went to meet up with a friend for Sunday lunch. It’s a lovely pub with lots of space and a great atmosphere. Friendly welcoming staff. Food was so good. We had the sharing roast dinner and was a big portion and well presented. Food was nice and hot. Would visit again. Good parking area.

This place is my local pub and I have become a regular. The staff are super friendly, great food, great people. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a 10/10 customer experience.

This is a great pubs and my favourite when I visit Walton on the hill. It's owned by Youngs and loads of nooks to sit. The open fires were welcome on a chilly day and the ale was cracking. Recommend.

3rd time back & this time all 3 courses sampled :) French Onion Soup, Pork Roast and the Sticky Toffee Pudding (again) were amazing. Prior review covered all the detail on the pub & staff - both of which remained excellent.

Great service with Corey, and food was wonderful. Stayed for much longer than had intended drinking and talking. All enjoyed the roast dinner, vegetarians and meat eaters, as well as the deserts. Really enjoyable afternoon.

Best roast beef I’ve had in a long time - only recommendation would be that it could have been a bit warmer maybe send out with some extra hot gravy :) followed by sharing desert platter - the ice cream was amazing 🤩

Lovely cosy country village pub. Warm and welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere. Love the open fires in the winter. Family and dog friendly. Good food too. We were there during festive period which added to its charm.

Cosy restaurant, great food and service.

Chequers is a very beautiful and cosy pub and we have been dining there for a few years. Unfortunately the standard of the food has gone down considerably recently.  Indeed i came with my family (table of 8) this week and we were very disappointed with the food being served overall. The starters portions were very small, zero effort for presentation (ox cheek croquettes just in a bowl with no dressing or dip to go with it )  and not tasty.  Some of us had fish and chips  , it was overcooked and luke warm. Mushy peas were solidified and there was no curry sauce included even though it is meant to be served with it. Desserts were ok portion wise but the sticky toffee pudding was not as hot as one would expect. So overall not a great culinary experience at all  considering the amount of money we spent overall.

Starters and desserts so small - the berry eat an mess had no berries in it was tiny and just thrown together not enjoyable

Food really disappointing. Fish over cooked, barely any chips, pie with old chewy meat, barely any mash, plain boiled cabbage. Sharing dessert platter so stingy.

Had a great pub lunch here. The beef burger was excellent. The pub was dog-friendly and supplied a dog bowl for our dog.

Recently hosted in the private room and the staff were amazing beforehand and throughout! Huge thank you for making our evening so smooth!

For a lovely pub it is such a shame it has staff with such appalling manners, no customer service, I don’t know why these people work in a pub when they clearly don’t like the general public. Their attitude ruined a birthday celebration.

Have been here many times over the years and more so recently with my family and kids. Most times I do come, there is a lovely young lady, I believe to be one of the managers, Demi, who is always super attentive and lovely. She is always smiling and welcoming. Bruno (my dog) loves her too - think it might be the treats. Food is always lovely. Fab selection of drinks for everyone. All staff are lovely and welcoming.

Travelled to the Surrey Hills and The Chequers came highly recommended - I can see why. Superba. The location and setting are brilliant and selection of drinks first class. We had the Sunday lunch which was super yummy and great value. Will be back.

Met up witha large group of Friends (40 or so covers ) at the chequers for Sunday lunch. The food was top notch, the staff were inviting and helpful and the whole service ran like clockwork. All in all, a great place to eat and relax with your friends. I’ll definitely be back.

UPDATED. Was in the area with friends on Friday and 7 of us booked a table for a meal. We noticed one thing has changed. In the 8 months since I’ve been they have improved. The fish cakes and poached egg were great. A nice alternative to fish and chips which was also there and one of our party had for the first time. What a win for them to try fish and chips from the Chequers. Nick is still the landlord. He still looks after everyone and is staff follow his great lead. Don’t miss it if you are nearby….. Just been for Sunday lunch. Great food and the land lord is one of the friendliest. All the staff go out of their way to look after you. Recommended and a revisit is on the cards very soon.

Very welcoming and friendly staff that always seemed happy and to be enjoying their work. The food was delicious, arrived hot and looked as good as it tasted. A lovely outdoor area was a perfect place to sit and enjoy a drink before we went inside for food. If you're thinking about visiting/eating here I would highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

Another warm welcome from Jo and Nick at The Chequers. The team managed our large group of hungry cyclists with ease. Food and drink 5 stars. Great value for a huge Sunday lunch. Can’t wait to come back.

Mmm mmm mmm, what can I say... After dining here two weeks ago with my wife and being thoroughly impressed, we decided to return with friends—and both visits exceeded expectations. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and well-organised. The roast dinner was fantastic on both occasions, and this dog-friendly spot even offers free treats at the bar for your four legged friend. I would highly recommend this venue if you're in the area.

We had a great Sunday Roast here with a large (40+) and yet the food and service was superb , great quality and generous portions (rare to have both) It’s a lovely location and super pub garden. Will be back !

We met some friends at the chequers for Sunday roast, the pub is great with a fantastic large garden and plenty of seating both inside and out, the staff are really friendly and provide excellent customer service. We both went for the roast pork with crackling, veg, roast partakes and Yorkshire pudding. It was delicious and a very generous serving, there is also an excellent selection of beers and wines.

The Chequers is a lovely English pub. The food is amazing and the service is just lovely. I can highly recommend the burger. On a seven day trip to Epsom and after two visits already I'll definitely go for a third one!

Here for a Sunday lunch with a big group. Nick and his team smashed it out of the park. Efficient, friendly and excellent food. (Roast beef tender and delicious 😋) . Recommended!

Very nice food. Waiter Liam was lovely and friendly.

The girls serving were brilliant but that’s probably the only positive. The Cote de Bouef was bland, fatty and cold. Tough potatoes. Poor veg portions. Underwhelming. Starters, didn’t bother. The 80’s want their menu back. No specials board as always used to be. The BIGGEST problem is the cat who roams around all the tables begging, if you’re in the garden and a table is left unattended, he’ll be up there in a flash. Unhygienic and utterly grim. Not sure what this new parking barrier is? Always used to be a favourite but we will not be returning nor recommending.

We had an enjoyable family dinner at Chequers on Saturday. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was enjoyable. Good size portions and well presented. Always a few little personal taste issues - white bait in the caeser salad/non crispy fat on the pork belly bites, but aside from these thank you for the relaxing evening which also was good value for money.

I came late for a Sunday lunch with my girlfriend, service was great and staff were lovely. And the roast beef was very good and very big portion . A big thankyou to erin for her help !

I hadn’t been to chequers for a few years, but was very impressed yesterday having taken overseas visitors for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent and plentiful. We received super service from Alice and the team of hard working staff.

Lovely pub and restaurant!! Clean, dog-friendly, nice decor and spacious outdoor seating area. The staff were amazing - impeccable service. Went in wanting just a spot of lunch and ended up having a full-on three course meal because the menu looked so good. I had the pork belly bites to start. There is no other way to describe them, they were simply little cubes of joy. Our table got through 4 plates of these, they were that good! I went for the chicken schnitzel for the main course, asked if I could swap out the jersey royals for fries which they were more than happy to do. The fries were top notch, the chicken served on a bed of leeks sautéed to perfection. I have to give the main a 9.5 - a lemon wedge on the side would have elevated this dish to flawlessness. I initially wasn't going to have dessert but when I saw that they did pecan pie with honeycomb ice cream, I was sold and it did not disappoint. Overall, really enjoyed my visit and will 100% be going back when I am next in the area.

Top notch pub grub, in a beautiful village pub, with great gardens at the front & rear. Service was friendly & relaxed. Food was cooked to perfection, I had the calves liver with veg/mash which was wonderful. Pork belly bites for starters was also lovely and the sticky toffee pudding finished it off nicely. 100% recommended.

Had a delicious meal here yesterday. Topped off my tasty Schnitzel dish with a to-die-for sticky toffee pud and the best glass of Rose I've had in a long time. Superb service from friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, beautiful courtyard garden - can't wait to go back!

Last year in June I had a few pints at the Chequers when i visited an old school mate, enjoyable visit, even the toilets were a pleasure to use, an overall memorable visit.

My partner and I love the Chequers. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to us and our puppy. The food is delicious, and they pour a great pint. And on top of that, they have one of the best beer gardens you will ever see! Definitely worth a visit

Came for a stag do saturday afternoon ( 15th June ) Food was amazing, service was great from Finn, football was on the TV overall a great atmosphere, will be coming back in the future

The lovely landlady managed to get me a table for Fathers Day pretty last minute which we were so grateful for... we arrived and our table was ready for us immediately and we had plenty of space around us which was nice. Our waiter was amazing, attentive, funny and made sure our orders were exactly as we had asked before sending them into the kitchen. The food was of a high quality and I would definitely come again. The background music was great... and not too loud... brought back some memories and Shazamed a few. Lastly... Service charge is at your own discretion which I love. I always tip but hate it when it's expected.

Came last Friday for a meal with friends leisurely looked at the menu to see wat sort of food you do food looked good but when get the menu when we arrived alot of the stuff wasn't on there I had fish chips there was too many chips should of been fries not fat chips my fish was overcooked my mushy peas weren't green they were cold and hard my husband had the chicken snitzel that was served with new potatoes but asked if they could change the potatoes to More veg they gave him cabbage and leaks with a bit of garlic didn't really look alot for the price was quite busy when we arrived the tables weren't set for dining

I found The Chequers whilst doing a Google search for somewhere to eat on a Sunday night as the kitchen of most nearby restaurants tend to close early. From the moment we entered and were warmly welcomed, I knew this was going to be a good experience. Because it was a nice sunny evening, we selected a table outside. We had been asked to order at the bar but if we had eaten inside we would’ve had full table service. Our food came out promptly and everything that we ordered was well cooked and nicely presented.

Very good food. And beer great beer garden.
