The Chef in Solihull

A regular customer here for many years. Always missing items which I have always let go. Tonight I am missing an item and rang up to here that I won’t be refunded or redelivered. Final straw for me. My custom will be going elsewhere from now on!!

Shocking again … last 4 times we have picked up or ordered food there are items missing .. tonight husband picked food up and rice was missing … so curry has gone cold thick and stodgy whilst waiting for rice … now inedible

Have used for years. Had not used for a few months though Ordered beef curry fried rice House special chow Mien Beef curry meat did not taste very nice the fried rice was stodgy one big lump The chow Mien. What a joke No besnsprouts. No water chestnuts. Instead cubes of carrot potato peas and cucumber slices Never seen anything like it Tried to complain. Lady on phone very rude would not listen just wanted to take an order NO THANK YOU never using again. Keep away. Waste of money

Been using this Chinese takeaway for years and decided on New year’s eve to have a takeaway. When we arrived to collect it there was over 20people in the room not following COVID restrictions ( we are currently in tier 4 so this was far too many people) and had to wait 20mins until we noticed the food was sitting on the counter getting cold. When we got home the food was very disappointing pointing with my father being very ill for 3 days after eating it!! They were taking too many orders and not taking the time to cook the food properly! Also the owner who often works the counter taking orders and payments regularly short changes people then acts daft or argues with people. I don’t normally write reviews but after trying to speak to the owner about our bad experience and her really not caring I felt it was only right that I do this.

Been commin the chef for many years now food is always lovely and staff are very friendly recommend good service and drivers are very polite

Disgusted by delivery service turned driver away after waiting 1hr 45 min to arrive. Won't be using again!!!

As always 10/10 prompt friendly delivery and perfect food. Always consistent. Highly recommend the king prawn and mushroom curry. Chicken balls full chicken breast.

The chinese lady very rude her attitude is not far off her english by the time i ordered my food i didnt want to eat from there im going to go to golden wok or golden bird on the other side of the road from now on 👍🏻

Always used the chef, always pleasant staff, but disgusted with the attitude of your recently employed Chinese lady, shes abrupt and very rude.. bring back winnie.. such a happy place with her and the current working staff.. or maybe keep the rude Chinese women in the kitchen!

I am a man who has Chinese a lot, I’ve tried plenty of Chinese’s in Brum and can honestly say this is the best one I’ve had! Please don’t miss out! Service was great was ready and piping hot when I arrived, flavour and taste is out of this world, my first time using this Chinese and will defo be returning when in the area!

A number of times got order wrong by putting onions in curry when asked not to due to allergy to onions sometimes waited over hour for del sometimes curry leaked into bag food cold dissapointing

Out in the suburbs our tastebuds have been so anesthetized by decades of mediocre, pastiches of Chinese food, that we've come to revere the actually pretty average as good, and so it goes for this very bog-standard takeaway. Nothing in the meal we had from here enchanted nor did it have anyone retching foul words and tastes into the nearest bowl. It was all just very average, which in the land of the absolute mediocre I guess qualifies as being quite good....

Well, where to start. Took over hour20 mins to arrive. Curry sauce like jelly even stayed shape of carton when tipped out. Chips luke warm and small fatty pieces of chicken . This isn't the first time either but gave them the benefit it may of been an off day but an off couple weeks is pushing it. Will not be visiting there again.

This place is diabolical and I would not feed it to my dog. I had eaten from here before and assumed it was a one off. I decided to give it a second chance and ordered from here again tonight. My food came rather quickly. Far too quick for it to be fresh. With that in mind, my good was FREEZING cold. I wish I could emphasis how cold it was. When I rang them to explain this, instead of apologising for the unconvince, they decided to question us and tell us we must contain the food and return it OURSELVES in order receive a replacement. We agreed to this. After much thought, we decided we would not wait another half an hour for our food to be unsatisfied again. We trayed the food uo and requested a refund, of which we were refused. This was diabolical. We then drove to the Chinese, absolutely disgusted with the service and treatment we had received. They checked the temperature themselves and after much dispute, a refund was provided. We

Phoned order in useally ready in 10/ 15 minutes. Greeted with a smile and your order is ready. Drive home and food is piping hot. Good portions and great tasting food.

Having waited over an hour for food you expect what arrives to be of good standard. Cold chips, curry was set to the shape of container and chow mein was cold. If you want the hassle taken away from dinner on a Friday night go to the one across the road and then you can at least eat it

Si vives cerca del chef, no te molestes en que se entregue un domingo. ¡Consíguelo usted mismo porque tomará mucho tiempo!

Pidió un chino, primero enviaron cosas que no habíamos pedido, como papas fritas, y nos cobraron por ellos, luego descubrimos que no habían puesto nuestra salsa de curry, les llamamos por teléfono y dijeron que alguien lo bajaría tan pronto como allí 5 minutos como máximo, ya que está cerca de nuestra casa. 40 minutos más tarde y todavía estoy esperando mi salsa de curry! He vuelto a llamar y obtuve la respuesta "estaban ocupados". ¡No es de esperar el viernes por la noche! !

Hemos estado usando The Chef en castle bromich durante más de 5 años y siempre lo recomendamos a otros. . . . . por lo general, no reaccionaba ante una mala comida, pero la actitud del personal era espantosa y tanto que no usamos aha. Así que pedimos a las 7 en un sábado por la noche y esperaríamos esperar un sábado, pero después de una hora y 40 minutos la comida apareció. . frío. . y mal . No obstante, teníamos hambre, así que lo comimos, pero quería que el chef lo supiera por una cuestión de principios. Así que primero mencioné la demora. . . la mujer del teléfono simplemente dijo. . Deberían haberle dicho que era una hora de espera. . . Dije que sí, pero fueron 1 hora y 40 minutos. . . . ninguna disculpa solo un suspiro por el teléfono. . . luego dije que la comida estaba fría. . . nada . . Hemos usado este para llevar bastante tiempo y recientemente ha sido buena a veces y otros no, parece depender de la hora de la semana.

Food was delivered to the hotel the time they said, hot and definitely good. Had beef in black bean sauce with noodles and sweet n sour chicken. Know who to use next time we come here.

Always straight to the point on the order, good prices and incredibly fast service, the food is thoroughly cooked I add. I'll always use these guys!

This is the only Chinese we use, the delivery times are amazing and the food is always hot, never had a bad order from here

Its the only Chinese we use, even when we moved to chelmsley wood for a while we still used the Chef, always good food and always quick service, never had an issue! Would highly recommend!!!

Staff are rude! Food arrives 2 hours late and is missing most things! I called to complain and after a long debate with the woman with attitude she offered me £1 off. That may be a lot of money to her but not to me!

I would say this is the best Chinese around the Castle Bromwich area. The new girl who works on the front desk is very lovely and hard working!!

The female who served us was really rude and had no customer service skills greeting us with 'what ya want?' and the order was completely wrong, ordered chicken and mushroom curry, spring rolls and chips and came home with missing chips, no spring rolls, and chicken curry without the mushrooms. Wasn't very nice either. But the service was extremely fast.

Absolutely great food & service. Takeaway only / delivery available.Never had a bad meal. Plenty of food, hot, tasty, consistent, highly recommend.

We have been using this takeaway for quite a long time and it's usually quite good. Inevitably there is the odd hiccup along the way but the last time put us off using them when slimy, limp cucumber was used for the duck and pancakes starter. To not check what's been sent out is not good, unless they think it's acceptable. We are now giving this place a wide berth for now.
