The Chef in Middlesbrough

Got a portion of chips with curry and a canned drink, It tasted okay but it cost £6.80.

My grandson is very very fussy. When we go to Middlesbrough he wants to get McDonald's, which I hate. Took him and my wife here today. Grandson got chicken nuggets and chips, which he loved.👍. Wife got a fish chips and peas. Fish was a great portion. I got 2sausages, chips and beans. All good portions and tasty. Staff were great. At last a nice place to eat in Middlesbrough. I'll definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff.

Been coming here a long time. Food isn't what it used to be. It is now tasteless and so much smaller size but still pricey.

Food is nice but they have an issue with waste management out in the back street. Their bin is constantly overflowing with a massive pile of rubbish bags around their back door. This will be attracting rats.

Waited at table plates on table cloth cleaning stuff said she would clean table down never did waited ages for curry and chips . People coming in getting served before us waited ages how long does it take to make 2 plates curry and chips . Fact is she went to toilet forgot about our order disgraceful we are pensioners went somewhere else got served straight away clean table !! Not a mucky table .

Slightly disappointed, poor engagement from staff. Fish and chips were anaemic, lacked colour and taste, bland. Bit of a shame.

The foods good it's just not as plentiful as previous owners. On the pricey side too but so is everything this day and age

The takeaway food boxes said "Merry Christmas from your local fish and chip shop!", which was very kind of the staff at The Chef to provide their customers at Christmas.

Lovely food and friendly staff. The fish is always spot on. My #1 go-to option if I'm up Middlesbrough way

When in today with my girlfriend got us both same thing and then we got our food and I walk to go sit down then the staff told us we can’t sit there staff said you have got takeaways not to sit there and then we said why didn’t you told us that then staff said is not our jobs say it then there where being rude for nothing at all because we didn’t been here before customer service need proven is was Sticky Attitude

All ways well cooked but small fish and chips getting smaller

Got short changed by £10. Staff was rude and talked to me like I was a stupid child when I brought the matter up. Never did get my £10 back. Food was OK too

So tried to sit in and have fish and chips to be told we cannot come in with a baby due to health and safety.. unless he can sit in a old wooden high chair which he is to small for absolutely disgusting

9 pound 30 for a single burger and a plait of chips is day light robbery, there’s not a war on no more and with prices like that it makes me feel like there is. Also I reckon the “cola” is 22 pence for a 2 liter out of heron, and they have the arse to charge £1.40 for half a pint, safe to say I’ll never go back again I’d rather have a knife pointed at my throat and someone say to me give me a tenner than pay for that shite again. P.s. only rated 2 stars coz the gravy is banging
