We were excited by the concept and booked a dinner for 6. The steak dish was “sold out” at 6pm as was the endive salad!! With a restricted size menu and cheese based theme we were forced to order multiples of the same dishes. A pity, as the food was good just restricted in options and some meat based choices other than a charcuterie option is needed, or at least 5 other main course options. The food saved this from being a single star experience, the wait staff experience was very poor. Almost unacceptable to charge the service fee….

More than just cheese, the tartiflette with wild mushrooms and lardons was to die for. Service throughout was excellent especially the charming Anastasia who made some excellent suggestions and looked after us throughout.

This place popped up my TikTok fyp for some reason and having a cheese lover for a husband I decided to book us a table for Father’s Day. Having read some of the reviews on here I was worried we may leave hungry but there was no chance of that!! On arrival I was a bit disappointed with the table we were given as it was out of the main dining area. However, it was actually fab. We had our own huge window looking out on the canal which in itself provided much entertainment with passing boats (and a crash!). We were a party of four and we ordered 5 “small” plates to start with along with four toasted sandwiches. The plan was to then order the paired cheeses but we didn’t make it that far. We were absolutely full to bursting. The fried curds were delicious. In fact everything was. We had a couple of bits of sandwich leftover which we were asked if we would like to take home. We said yes and then the waitress came out to apologise that they had accidentally been thrown away but they were going to make us a fresh sandwich to take home. We said there was no need but they insisted. And they did. What lovely service. All in all this was a lovely experience. I felt it was reasonably priced and would definitely recommend others to try it.

This is a delightful experience where the hosts describe the delights that you’ll consume. I was gifted a four course experience for Christmas. This was difficult to book and limited time options to redeem.

We greatly enjoyed our time on the cheese barge. We didn't get the super popular curds, but instead tried some paired cheeses, the salad and the potatoes, and the panecotta. Everything was very tasty! It's just a fun place to eat, and the staff is very attentive. I strongly recommend making a booking so that you would not be disappointed. It seems to fill up very quickly, and we dined at 5:30. p.m..

After a wonderful morning ( my hubby passed his driving test)...we went for a long walk through the London parks, ending up at the Paddington Basin. I have often walked past here and always wanted to visit and today was the day to pop in and celebrate. It is a lovely relaxed atmosphere inside, very chilled. The menu is effectively a sharing menu. With a wonderful selection of sharers and plates, plus a marvellous drinks selection, this is a place to visit. Our fantastic waitress (Anastasia), made several suggestions including the curried cheese whey (heavenly), and the lamb pasty (extremely moreish). Add to that the stilton and chutney toasty that comes with the soup of the day and the cheese board and you have a wonderful lunch. The albarinno complimented the food perfectly. We passed on dessert, but will be coming back in the summer to sit on top outside and enjoy the little gem.

Fantastic place. The food was lovely. The curried curd is amazing but the portion is huge ... could cut down on the size to be honest. The goats cheese and honeycomb is amazing as was the toasted sandwich Loved it all to be honest

Really enjoyed our lunch at The Cheese Barge. Had a stroll around the canal before and sun was shining. The staff were really nice. We went with 3 cheeses (really recommend the Waterloo), a British Meats board and the rarebit stuffed courgette with Chili Jam. The courgette was so good! I would say this was a light lunch but there was plenty more we could have ordered. The only downside was the tables are very close together but to be expected on a barge!

First, why 4 stars and not 5? One of my fellow diners is highly gluten sensitive and it was confirmed in writing that the very lovely "Westcombe Fried Curried Cheese Curds" were gluten free. Sadly they weren't. Which is such a shame because they are fantastic and it would be very easy to make suitable for gluten intolerants. Also no GF bread! So easy to fix (Libby's in Notting Hill have loads .... pay them a visit, guys). The staff tho' were very accommodating and worked out some great solutions (which we all enjoyed and weren't charged for). Thank you so much. Anyhooley, the cheese selection is very good although I would personally use words like "punchy" with caution. Some 'big flavours' anticipated never materialised. That said, we enjoyed everything we tasted. The bread was very good. The assorted crackers crisp and understated enough not to spoil the cheeses. Fudge with cheese was a revelation imho. My favourite today, the Smoked Gubbeen with Yorkshire Rhubarb & Ginger Jam. Would I go back? I think I would. Sometimes one just needs cheese. The Cheese Barge delivers. Oh yes, the wine selection is decent too.

We visited the Cheese Barge as four couples. Really nice, helpful, friendly staff. Food was really nice and everything was reasonably priced. Well worth a visit, But…….. The water surrounding the barge and the other barges was embarrassingly disgusting. I can’t believe foot outlets are allowed to even trade when the surrounding area is so filthy. That’s the only thing that let the day down.

Had a lovely evening at the cheese barge. Food, drink, service and atmosphere all amazing. Had a cheese selection as a first course, followed by shared fondue and dessert. Cheeses were all lovely as were the accompaniments to complement them. Had to order the bavette steak as a side as I saw one on the table next to us and I was not disappointed! Would love to visit again

I don't very often write reviews, but I loved the cheese barge so much, I felt I should. My husband and I got a voucher for Christmas to visit the cheese barge, we are both cheese lovers! The staff were very welcoming and friendly, they explained exactly what we got included with our voucher and remained very attentive throughout our time there. The curried cheese curds are absolutely amazing, so tasty. The sourdough bread was lovely and soft. The 6 cheeses we choose, along with their accompaniments were all delicious. We also added on a toastie, and oh my goodness, it was amazing, I just didn't want it to end. We also had a couple of the puddings, the chocolate cheesecake in particular was very indulgent and scrummy. We will definitely be visiting again, in fact I am already trying to fit it into my calendar.

This was a fun experience with helpful, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious but the portions were rather small and I felt expensive. One sharing dish was meant to serve between 2 and 4 people - three of us shared it and there was only enough for one spoonful each, and this was over £30. However I'm happy to have tried it out.

I had a great time on Valentine's Day. The staff were lovely, and it had a really fun ambiance. The food itself was great: each course was great, the tasting platter let us try quite a few different cheeses, and the starters were fantastically moorish. I will definitely visit again if I find myself in the area!

This is a fun place to go but we found it more of a café than a restaurant with mostly small plates (like bar nibbles) and fixed hard seating. The food was a little disappointing. The spätzle was more like a thick porridge. Rightly or wrongly we had envisaged Swiss cheese fondue (only served on Thursdays and not sure if it’s made with Swiss cheese), raclette or even a fab mac n’cheese with British cheddar - but none were on offer on Monday night. The dishes were frankly a little bland although the deep fried curd with curry and honey was fun. The staff were all pleasant, helpful and efficient.

Having got a voucher as a present we decided to go in January, was easy to book. Upon arrival was shown to a table and given a jug of water while we browsed the menu. Our voucher was for a mixture of six cheeses with various chutneys and a carafe of wine. We ordered our cheese, picking some we had not tried before, it came on a cheese board and the waiter suggested what cheese to start with and work round the board clockwise, there were various crackers and bread to go with it. Every cheese was delicious and the various accompaniment went well with each one. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, can’t thank them enough for the great service. Will definitely be visiting again, hopefully when the terrace is open. If you love cheese would highly recommend you try this place.
