We spent new years eve here and thoroughly enjoyed the night. The staff ensured that the bar was not overly congested and patrons couldove freely. I believe that we spoke with Harry the manager who was a gem. Highly recommend.

***AVOID*** Wouldn’t go near again with a barge pole. Extortionate prices for pints when I visited last week. Bouncers deny access to individuals for no reason, and pick fights with them. Claimed they were full on New Year’s Eve, yet clearly letting in larger groups. Don’t waste your time.

Good bar with a good selection of beers and tasty food

Hey, we had a table of 14 , the area we were sitting was nice, the food order was wrong, the speed of clearing table was very very slow . The staff working were nice but it took the shine off a good night.

The General Manager is a gem. He's brilliant, attentive as anything, and super friendly. The short brunette girl with glasses is rude lazy and avoids serving folk at all cost, thats costing the changer business and a reputation. The young brown haired lad that worked with her was OUSTANDING. tipped him cause he served 3 people in the time the other lass served one. aye she's the reason for the 1 star review

Great place to pop in for a quick and cheap lunch deal. £ 6 for a burger, pizza, or baguette, plus soft drink, is definitely a good deal. And the food is actually pretty decent.

Didn't eat here but the menu looked great. They do good process on drinks Monday to Thursday so if you are in during the week this is a must stop off. Really nice independent beers too and such a nice bar. Keep up the good work you are doing it well

Foods shite (burrito with chicken). Coca cola tastes like chlorine. Nice room.

American style sports bar pub. Bombay pizza was unique and tasty. Service was friendly and convenient. Lots of tvs with soccer, cricket, rugby, if that’s your thing.

Had a boozy brunch with five of my mates during our day trip to Edinburgh to see Mammy Banter, and I'd gladly go back to Edinburgh just to visit Chanters as the food and cocktails were spectacular. The servers and staff were really nice and welcoming too. The toilets were really clean and the atmosphere was good with a good mix of ages and people. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Loved it.

Lively college bar. Great place for football matches and billiards table. Bar food was good also.

Excellent local vegan pub. The cauliflower wings and vegan taco was a highlight! Can get a little loud but this is perfect if you want the local experience.

I've never been to a typical scottish pub, but as I imagine it, it is. Many types of beer, ciders, food is simple, but very good, the burgers and the plates also. If you want to spend the evening, it's a good place for it.

Great Student deals, the karaoke was so much fun. Has become a local because of how great the atmosphere is. Our bartender Steph was so lovely and served us our drinks quickly. Food menu looked great too.

Good sports bar in Edinburgh, it can get quite busy and noisy depending on what’s on. We had a few beers and food, and we left completely satisfied.

Sadly, we ordered the "Benedict eggs". As you can see in the photo, there were more fried eggs than poached eggs, and the hollandaise sauce was chopped, not emulsified. Awful. Besides, after bringing the dishes from half of the table, they told us that the oven was not working and they had to fry everything, taking even longer. I guess they didn't know how to make the sauce and were trying... Too bad.

Nice student pub, expect it would be extremely busy on a Friday or Saturday night, however an afternoon there despite the old firm being on we had booth seating looking at the Castle. Would recommend!

Liked this bar before the refurb, but now its kinda everything I'd ask for in a bar. Good pints, great deals, foods perfect, staff are sound as, new layout is perfect. Hope it does really well. If you haven't been I'd highly recommend but only if your nice and respectful :)

Ordered the rolled pizza with chips and extra chicken. I do NOT recommend this to anyone, if they are expecting an undercooked pizza. As the pizza arrived, we were looking forward to eating it, as it looked delicious. On the menu it said “hand stretched dough cooked in an oven”. The pizza was barely cooked, and when we asked the waiter who was serving us, he said that the restaurant gets their pizzas FROZEN. I was really confused, but I understood judging by how the pizza looked.

We were looking for a restaurant with music and found it on the internet. But there was no live music. What a pity. But the food and drink were very good.

Visited for a Taylor Swift themed boozy brunch prior to our eras tour date at Murrayfield - the venue had gone to great lengths to stick to the theme with a fully redesigned menu and freebies (glasses, hats, tattoos etc). Service was excellent and food was delicious - amazing selection of drinks. All in all a great visit - thank you

Lisa was the best host to our boozy brunch, we had the best cocktails, would defo recommend the tiki sunrise, and the little rebel burger!! And then the £4 cocktails and pints afterwards just made our day the best, everyone come chanter !!!

Was here for some drinks last night and it had such a good atmosphere, was served by lucy she recommended the posh totty and it didn’t disappoint!

Harry Whittaker went above and beyond to make our evening at the Chanter memorable. His charm really made us feel at ease and his knowledge of what was available to drink was commendable. If you’re lucky enough to have him on shift your trip will be fantastic.

We came in over the weekend and had an amazing time, the staff were all so kind, Steph in particular served us, she told us about the mixr app, which is worth it with the free drink we each had. Best bar in Edinburgh by far, love the atmosphere, the staff and the prices! Tuesday until Thursday they do beers and cocktails for £3.75!! That’s dangerous for some 😏, but honestly had a great time in this bar, they do amazing food too and they do QUIZ NIGHTS which was so fun aha. Would definitely recommend to anyone especially students or people in their 20s 30s.

Went on a Monday with no previous booking and got a boozy brunch . Service was immaculate and for only 31 pounds we got 6 drinks and a main of our choice (which was huge btw). Would be back in a heartbeat.

Go on Thursday for reasonable priced beer! Service was excellent tonight! Just chill but very positive and timely! Chips were nice and crisps and two good local beers! Previous reply a few weeks back: Not 100% sure how to reply to your inquiry as your the first business to ask how to get back a star. Thanks for replying. Why 4/5 overall? It’s really due to sometimes the services can be a bit lacking. But then other times the staff is very friendly and punctual. It fluctuates too much between visits. The last time I went in: Ordered a pint of cider that was very flat. When I went back up the two folks tending just said that was the way it was supposed to be and left it at that. No offer to replace it, I even asked if they had any bubbly cider I could buy… got a no…. not that I’d want to waste it (just wasn’t a fan of it), but there was a good long awkward pause and I left when I realized they didn’t want to help or offer an alternative. When things pickup on trivia night more bar tenders are needed. Remember a few months back where one person was on tap for like 15 folks in Que. I gave up Overall like the drink offerings (price is good), place (though TVs are hard to see, but go in to socialize), and food (though only had chips or fries). Just needs improvement on service.

Student pints here slap so hard, it’s such a lovely place and they dealt with some horrible customers in such a loving way. Steph and Rebecca were the ones who had to deal with it and were so sweet. Would not just recommend to a friend but a girlfriend (or boyfriend) as well xx

We had a a festive boozy brunch which was great. The table was set with Santa hats and crackers. We received a warm welcome from Rebecca and she was brilliant throughout our sitting. The food was very nice and the cocktails that were included were nice too.

Food was excellent, only lost a star because they were missing a few sauces. Wing Wednesday's are a great shout.

I went to the chanter after the gym and kirsty was super sweet and accommodating. She helped my choose between the cocktails on the menu. After my friends arrived and eventually left she helped me book my Uber home. Super good service, definitely recommend.

Me and my friends came in on Monday night amd were blown away by the level of service and friendly environment, one of the bartenders Kirsty went especially above and beyond to make sure we were properly looked after and had a great time, will be back thanks to her kindness

The food and the ambiance was great! Had multiple games on for the Wednsday foodtball. Kirsty at the bar was very helpful. One comment: More sauces would be appreciated for the wings
