Awful customer service- two staff on loudy talking and ignoring customers watching videos on their phone! Despite being deserted the tables weren't clean and dirty floor. We will go to our usual spot at the view next time.

First place we spotted after parking. Should have realised what was in store as the place was deserted! One staff who's English was extremely difficult to understand. Only food available was Tuna toasted panini...not for us. Ordered 2 teas priced on the board at £2.50 each. He put them on the counter. He then punched in £5.90 not £5 into the debit machine,he was charging an EXTRA 45p each for a splash of milk! I walked out in shock at the nerve. Hubby stayed to talk it out. Staff member was defiantly sticking to the extra charge. Once my husband pointed out the cost written on the board had no mention of additional charges, which honestly is ridiculous, the staff member finally agreed to accept £5. Don't bother going there. Opposite is The View where the choice of food and drink is amazing and the staff are very welcoming

Reasonably priced and well prepared fresh food. The cheesy chips were the best we’ve had - layers of cheese in between piping hot chips and the spinach and lentil burger was superb. We had 4 snack meals and 4 drinks for about £7.50 a head and the service and food was well worth it.

Called in for an ice cream. Don’t bother. Good selection of flavours but they don't want to part with them. Literally got half a scoop. Rip off. Avoid, plenty of other places to get ice cream in Rhossili.

No toilets available. Was told to walk to public toilets which are the other end of the large car park.

Spent the day at Rhossili Bay and what a wonderful place it is. Stopped at 'The Causeway' for Ice cream and a coffee.... what a mistake! The whole place is filthy dirty and needs pressure washing, the 1 man behind the counter didn't have a clue what he was doing and the other one that did simply didn't want to be there.... he was rude and it was as if we were keeping him from something better and he was doing us a favour. We ordered 1 x 1 scoop ice cream, 1 x latte and a bottle of fanta.... the ice cream although was 'sidoli's' and tasted lovely was tiny - cost £3.20, the latte was even smaller in a tiny cup filled with 1/2 coffee and 1/2 froth - cost £3.50 BUT not to be too negative the fanta was faultless - cost £2.50! Maybe because it was just pulled from the fridge and nothing to do with The Causeway. PLEASE take the time to call in the Rhossili gift shop it may look quiet and expensive but it's NOT it's cheaper actually every item was a £1 cheaper and the staff were lovely. However this will not stop us going from Rhossili Bay again we just won't be calling in The Causeway! AVOID AND SAVE YOUR MONEY and maybe the Health and Hygiene should call in.

Gower is such a beautiful place, it’s such a shame this cafe doesn’t match the location! We were shocked to pay £9 for 3 tiny ice creams, we wouldn’t have usually minded but they didn’t even give a whole scoop! Our children looked so disappointed after a long drive. We are appalled by the person’s response as to why the scoop was so small! How can places get away with this! Absolutely ridiculous. We will not be returning!

We stopped for a quick snack, calamari and whitebait and I have to say both were very well cooked and generous portions. The whitebait was as it should be, crispy and not soft and greasy. I didn't expect a lot but was pleasantly surprised by the food.

Surprised to see some poor reviews, we ate here for lunch, it looks like a basic cafe, described the food as ‘street food’ I had a lentil and spinach burger, the best veggie burger I’ve ever tasted! My friend had salt and pepper calamari and was just as impressed. Like others I thought the drinks were a bit pricey, but would definitely go out of my way to visit again.

Such a disappointing end to a beautiful day. Queued for ice creams and at the point of ordering was informed that the ice cream was sold out. We ordered 4 cups of cappuccinos as a substitute only to discover they were devoid of any taste of coffee and the most unpleasant drink we have ever experienced at a cost of £10. Do not waste your money. The joy to end of our day was to discover that the Outlook next door had plenty of delicious Joe’s ice cream which made our day

Visited here after our little walk just to get some chips for the children. After spending a good 10 minutes queuing we were greeted by an uninterested teenager who took the order. It was £2.75 for one carton of frozen chips which I grudgingly paid being that the children were hungry. I was asked if I wanted any sauces to which I said yes to ketchup. That would have been 10p for some cheap sachet of watery sauce. After paying £2.75 for chips I would expect a little squirt of sauce!! So we were given an order number and waited......and waited......and waited. Half an hour later (no exaggeration) our chips arrived. A small, measly polyesterine carton of frozen chips. Great. Granted, they were busy - however, I did not want fish or anything that needed to be freshly cooked. It was simply a case of chucking some chips in a carton. A very expensive, terribly organised place which exploits visitors to the area. Have a little walk across the road to the restaurant overlooking the sea - I went here for a coffee earlier in the day and the team was friendly, professional and efficient- all the attributes that the team at the Causeway don’t possess. Avoid unless you want to be ripped off and certainly don’t go here if you’re hungry.

Lovely stop mid walk. Friendly team and lots of choice. Simple, delicious food. Dog friendly and offered water. No airs and graces, down to earth, clean and comfortable. Delicious cheese panini, one was enough to share and huge plate of chips. Definitely worth a stop. Thank you.

We popped in here for a spot of lunch as an alternative to the other eateries in Rhoselli. The food itself was okay, but we felt as though we were more of a nuisance than welcome guests. Wouldn't return to this one.

Not really worthy of one star The quality of food was cheap and poor. Frozen chips, poor quality sausages and rolls served in polystyrene. Service by young lady taken order was polite, however, older lady who served food just plonked in on the table along with a vinegar bottle, one sachet of salt and one sachet of ketchup. No asking if we would like anything further. Customer service skills zero. The toilet was out of order because the lock on the door was broken.. easily fixable,

Whilst it was exceptionally busy, the team had smiles on their faces and provided a well earned boost for our kids with generous ice cream portions and great choice of flavours. We were really pleased to see that the cafe would re-fill water bottles as well.

Frozen chips in polystyrene cartons with plastic forks and satchets of ketchup. Why , when other restaurants are converting to cardboard, wooden utensils and ketchup dispensers. They need to upgrade. So much rubb8sh generated in an area of outstanding beauty.

Okay, I know this is weird, for a grown to rave about ice cream...but genuinely, of all the places I’ve visited from various continents...the causeway had the best ice cream ever!!! Service was good, place refreshing to sit out. A bit hot inside but don’t mind it with what you get. Just dope!

After a lovely walk around the sunflower field with my mother, girlfriend and two best friends, we decided to come here for some food and a sit down before heading back home. I popped to the toilet as the others queued up and ordered their food and the table service was rather fast as they all already had their food while I rejoined the queue to order mine.I had been eyeing up the veggie sausages and chips the whole time so I was really looking forward to digging into some hot vegan food. After waiting 10-15minutes in the queue it was finally my time to order, greeted by a young girl I asked for a drink for mevand my friend and then placed my food order in....only to be told they had stopped serving hot food!? I paid for my drinks and reunited with the group, watching them eat their chips while I was only able to sip on my fanta. My mum went to ask about the situation and an older woman told her they had run out of food, she asked if they had any chips I could have and the woman just shrugged her shoulders and walked away not returning to answer her question. My mum returned to finish her food and not even 5 minutes later both the young girl and the older woman started stacking the chairs, slamming them on to each other without even telling us they were closing. I myself work in hospitality and as a manager of a bar I found this attitude appalling. If any of my staff were to do this they would never return to work besides me again. I hope whoever's in charge of this place can have a talk with your staff and let them know what customer service should look like. If they don't like working there then leave...simple solution. Thanks.

So many different flavours to choose from, and not cheap to have a double scoop option. Really busy but the staff seemed to be coping okay.

After a long, hard walk around Rhossili’s beautiful fields and cliffs, we staggered into The Causeway in search of ice cream. We were the only customers; the assistant had clearly received some terribly important news on her phone which needed her full attention for several minutes. When she was finally able to acknowledge us, I asked if she had any more coffee ice cream as there was hardly any left in the container. The woman indicated that she neither knew nor cared. She was possibly still concerned about the information that had been so absorbing on her phone as she wasn’t actually able to articulate these sentiments but was able to accurately convey them by her shrug. We apologised for taking up her time and bought lovely ice cream across the road.

Fantastic to find a dog friendly cafe at Rhossili beach unlike the one across the road. Hot & cold drinks & food, ice creams etc. Needs to be publicised more clearly that it is dog friendly though as easy to miss the sign (at the bottom of menu list).

Stopped initially for a coffee and possibly something to eat enroute. We purchased the sandwiches but given the bleak, uninviting and honestly empty huge seating area - we didn't stop. The sandwiches were edible but disappointing.

If you are looking to pay high prices in a gourmet restaurant do not eat here but, if like us, you would prefer to sit down with your "family friend" for a value for money snack then this café comes highly recommended.

The Causeway is one of a small number of eateries which serves visitors to Rhossili Bay. The staff were efficient but not overly friendly on the day we visited. It offers a good selection of cafe food and drinks at decent prices. The sausage baps and chips we ordered were generous and tasty.

Had the larger breakfast..... we were very hungry. Once again same hapenned as had previously hapenned a number of times...the meals were sitting on the serving hatch waiting for a server to bring them to table. We have previously gone and collected them from the hatch outselves. The result of the delay this time was that they were tepid at best. Eggs still jelly and hashbrowns were VERY brown and nothing on the plate was more than just warm. Coffee was very nice though....thankyou coffee counter.

Have reviewed their Sunday Roast probably two years ago and was a bit lacking.. however as a club member I had a 50% off deal so thought I would try again and have to say I was not disappointed.... Normal price was £17.95 but even at that price it was excellent value. Place is clean and tidy, it is pub atmosphere and setting and the food likewise so no good if you are looking for a Masterchef experience.... The roast was huge, I could not finished it, two well proportioned slices of beef and so,so much veg but so many varieties and a really good Yorkshire. Staff were attentive and welcoming and in fairness you could not fault it. Very laid back and relaxing visit. Thoroughly enjoyed and I should def make more of this facility, after all in the pool/gym 5 days a week anyway!
