We searched for a sunday lunch in Skipton as we love our roasts and as we were away for the weekend thought the castle inn with its great reviews fit just what we would need after a day walking in the beautiful town However it has to be the worst we have ever had! After waiting an hour with no explanation...(we weren't the only ones I may add) it arrived Nothing"home made" about it. Everything was frozen and heated up from the veg to the supermarket frozen mash! Yuck.oh and drowned with chicken bisto gravy...we had beef! Avoid!

Sunday lunch - This has to be the worst I have ever had from a well reviewed place. If you want heated produce from a well known Yorkshire pudding supermarket brand along with the same "roast potatoes" which have never seen a roast in their life, this is the place for you. Also the beef, not roasted, came with chicken gravy, yep... chicken gravy! Never again...

went to the Castle specifically for a pint of Old Peculier. At £5.50 a pint maybe they dont sell a lot. Which would explain why my pint was flat and lifeless. Not off, but just not good. Shame, as its a lovely pub.

The food was so good that we came twice for an evening meal on our 4 day holiday break! With 4 Adults (family) and 3 dogs the Castle Inn was very accommodating with good seating areas so the dogs were not in walk ways. The staff were so friendly and the service was fast. All our compliments to the chef, the food was lovely and the menu is extensive! Would definitely recommend!

A lovely old characterful pub, but almost £20 for 3 pints of Landlord and 2 packs of crisps is scandalous. We won’t be returning.

Visited Sunday afternoon with my partner and dog. The pub was quite busy with only a couple of tables free. Staff very attentive, advising which tables were free. Whilst deciding what to eat, we were offered a drink but chose to order from the bar. Decent menu, lots to chose from plus specials board. I settled on steak and ale pie. My partner had the gammon. The BEST chips ever! Gorgeous pie, nicely presented meals. Big portions. Cannot complain at all. 10/10. Such a lovely little quirky traditional pub with lots of outdoor seats. Dog friendly, biscuits on offer and blankets for dogs. Great service. Great food. Great place.

Called here for a couple of drinks before our meal. The building has lots of character like most of the bars in Skipton and I loved all the different beer mats on the ceiling. Staff were very friendly and the back ground music was a nice mixture which we enjoyed. It was quite quiet for a Saturday evening which we enjoyed as it was very relaxed. The food menu looked great especially the Sunday lunch.

Great food, beer and banter at the Castle Inn, Skipton. Booked a table for 6 and had excellent service all afternoon from all the staff. It was busy, which is a good sign on a damp Saturday in February. Well done Castle. See you soon.

We stopped by the beautiful and atmospheric Castle Inn after spending the afternoon in Skipton. The staff were fantastic and attentive, the drinks were quick and the food service was great. What let down the meal was the suprise bacon (not in a good way) in one of the dishes. I ordered garlic mushrooms (a vegetarian go-to) and when the food arrived it was delicious but had the unmistakable texture of pork. When I asked the kind waitress, she went to the kitchen and discovered that the meal was in fact laced with bacon - nowhere on the menu did it mention ANYTHING about meat in the garlic mushrooms. The dish was removed from the bill without question and with apologies. Luckily I do not suffer with a pork allergy but this is a mistake that could have been potentially terrible.

I've been here before with friends and with walking groups and it's never disappointed. Friendly, popular (book ahead if you come with a group), excellent range of goodies or just hot drinks if that's what you're after, and an excellent display of traditional sweetie jars behind the counter, as well as quirky artefacts displayed everywhere. And the ultimate accolade perhaps - clearly popular with cyclists (always a discriminating bunch when it comes to cafes and tea rooms. Right on the Pennine Way too :)
