Popped in for sunday lunch on the off chance as was passing through, Lamb skewers to start were very juicy and tasty The beef dinner was so tasty, beef was tender and plenty of it, gravy was stunning, Cauliflower cheese was best i have ever tasted, Very good price as well, Would highly reccomend and will definately be back

Nice little pub with good food and good service. Really well priced too. Nice outside area that's also well covered for rain or sun. We really enjoyed our meal.

Nice little pub with good food. Burgers are massive. Fish and chips was quite good. Decent selection of beers and ciders on tap.

Recommended by owner of local camp site (Monnow Bridge). Great service and super yummy starters and steaks. Only the one chap serving. He did a fantastic job as it was busy. Dog friendly too. 20% off bill on a Wednesday too. Winner winner !

Really attentive staff and good pub grub

Stopped here on a recommendation from a friend. We weren't disappointed we had the The Blue Mooo Burger which was absolutely delicious, fresh burger patties brioche bun blue cheese perfect. I recommend the homemade onion rings too as they're made properly! Service was great and couldn't be more accommodating! Staff friendly, informative and helpful. Great atmosphere too! Recommend to others to come here.

Had the pleasure of eating lunch here and we were all wowed by how amazing it is. The lady in charge was fabulous, so friendly and welcoming. The menu was fantastic with a varied choice and all 5 of us plumped for burgers, 3 castle burgers, a blue mooo and a chicken and bacon. They were just simply delicious, every bit of each burger was gorgeous, the bacon was so thick and tasty, the burger was so meaty and all together it was marvellous . The chips were really good, homemade coleslaw creamy and beautiful and onion rings with the most devine batter making them so good. The food was plentiful and fabulous I just wish I could have eaten it all, I did try. We sensibly booked and looking round it was a good call, busy but still didn’t feel overcrowded, loved by locals too and it’s not surprising. Dog friendly too which is another tick, if you’re in Monmouth and you need to eat you have to try here, believe me you will not regret it and like us you’ll be looking forward to visiting again, thank you.

It was a nice ending place, with friendly staff and nice atmosphere, however food was below average for me. Came out cold too.

Popped in for a Wagu burger and a couple of beers. Both were great as was the service. Place does prefer cash.

Family visit for Easter Sunday so booked a roast dinner at the Castle Inn as we have eaten there before but haven't tried their roasts. We were not disappointed! Delicious home cooked food, lots of veggies, extra gravy, the works. We were quite rowdy with two grandchildren, the waitresses were fantastic and made us all feel very welcome. Highly recommended!!! And very reasonably priced too. Thank you 😊

Had Sunday lunch here Today. I had the Brie starter and my wife had the parsnip soup as a starter. We were offered the Lamb , which was not on the menu as the main. My wife and I both had the Lamb. The food was absolutely fabulous. Presentation, taste , portions fantastic. The lamb , melted in your mouth and the veggies were lovely and soft , with a big variety. Roast potatoes to perfection and the gravy just the right taste and consistency. Our waitress Adi was great and nothing was a problem. The only surprise to us is that dogs are allowed, which we didn’t notice before booking. The dogs that were there were very well behaved. Thank you to Josh and the kitchen team Billy and Ross for a most pleasant experience.

Popped in whilst exploring Monmouth Castle, Priory Church and other sites of interest in the town. Perhaps it was my own fault as I arrived around 12:30pm and asked if it would be possible to get a breakfast. They stop serving breakfasts at 12. They kindly agreed to accommodate me and made a breakfast for me. Sadly though it wasn’t great. The mushrooms honestly felt and tasted like they had been dehydrated. There was just no moisture left in them whatsoever. The beans were cold and the eggs overcooked. In hindsight, which truly is a wonderful thing, I should have just gone with their lunch menu or sought somewhere else that offered an all day brekkie. For £12.50 I expected better unfortunately.

Asked for my first choice for my meal and it was unavailable so had to decide on something else what a let down absolutely vile as was my partners. Knife and folks was dirty had to ask for clean ones to be brought as well as the drinking glasses. Before wrighting this review I looked at some others and a lot of people seem to have similar issues. Zero stars from me and will not return.

What a great little find this was. Popped in hoping they could fit us in for Sunday lunch. The helpful chap found us a table for 2.30 which was perfect. All staff really helpful and Sunday roast was delicious. Special mention for the cauliflower cheese. ( the poor young lad behind the bar will know what I mean, he took some stick from another customer that had clearly got out the wrong side of bed. But handled it superbly) will see you again soon I hope. ❤️

Can't rate this place highly enough. We were a group of 12 on a stag and this is quite a small pub, but they did a great job of accommodating us. The food didn't all come at the same time but everyone was glad that they prioritised making sure everything was top quality, which it absolutely was. Everyone was blown away by the quality of their meals. Super-friendly staff too. Would definitely come back here if i I'm in this area again.

First time at the Castle Inn. Excellent service and a good 'pub' menu. Nice decor and a small beer garden outside. Looks like they also do a pie and mash night on a Thursday!

Great place for Breakfast Staff are friendly and helpful toilets are clean and tidy. So enjoy your breakfast here price's are ok also

One of the best sunday lunches had for along time.

Amazing food and lovely local pub feel. I had an avocado and bacon baguette - bacon cooked just how I liked it (even though I hadn't specified) with the fat very crispy. Teifi coffee was delicious too. Will definitely be back next time we're visiting Monmouth.

Big surprise! I have to say, first of all, I didn't expect much from the images on Google. However, when inside the restaurant and handed the menu, it is great. My burger came out and didn't look great, but again, I stand corrected. It was a very good, tasteful burger and was far better than I thought it was going to be. Wonderful food, to be honest. My partners fish and chips were very good too. Good atmosphere, lovely staff and well worth a visit.

Starting with the friendly welcome our Sunday lunch experience was wonderful. I cannot fault the roast beef it was perfectly cooked and delicious, my friends roast chicken also had top marks, the oven roasted vegetables were first clas lunch s cooked to perfection! When my daughter took me to the Castle Inn this weekend for Mother’s Day I had doubts they could replicate it to such a high standard but I can happily say they did it again! Sunday lunch is highly recommended. We had a choice of two different meats or a veggie option. There was loads of veg too, and soooooo tasty, in fact so much so I forgot to take a before picture and only have a pic of the empty plates.

Only poppet in for a drink, the place has a nice atmosphere and very welcoming staff behind the bar. Can't comment on the food as didn't eat there.

Worst meal I have ever paid for fish and chips can't go wrong but they managed it fish was like rubber inedible avoid at all cost

Had a great meal here on Friday 13th while on a short break. Had the Haddock and chips that was cooked to perfection and lots of it at a very reasonable price. Very good atmosphere, service and very helpful staff. Can’t recommend highly enough.

By far one of the best pubs I have ever been to in my life. It's quite small but the hospitality it top notch. The bartenders are very friendly, the food is absolutely amazing and the bar is dog friendly. I will definately visit again when! Keep up the good service! It's a hidden gem in this lovely town.

Had the full 70s experience of chicken in a basket

The castle Inn has come a long way in the last few years. Enjoyed the beer garden in the summer and they serve butty which is enough reason to visit.

Great service, food came out quickly and the inn has a well-crafted atmosphere.

A really good meal, tasty and good quality, service was friendly and efficient. The cider was extra good too. Next time we visit Monmouth we will visit again.

Wonderful Atmosphere and stunning food! Staff were amazing and had a great selection of draught beer! The garden had a great vibe and a staff member brought treats for our dog! The food was well presented and excellent value for money! Also a chef that new how to cook!
