The Castle Inn in Cannock Chase

Popped in on way home..Really nice welcome from pub goers and staff

We love a ‘locals’ pub, so after reading other reviews, we decided to pay The Castle Inn a visit whilst staying overnight in Cannock. As we walked through the front door into a small crowded bar room, a local pointed at us and told us to go round the other way. The four of us went back outside, but after walking around the entire pub we couldn’t find another unlocked door. Thinking there must be some mistake, we re-entered through the front door to try again. This time, I persevered and managed to reach the bar, where the barmaid said we needed to ‘go round’ if we wanted serving and directed us to a door marked toilet! No smile, no welcome, no explanation or apology! Sadly things didn’t get any better …. we came face to face with a group of blokes blocking our way, and who obviously had no intention of moving to let us through. It was 9 o’clock on a Saturday night, and maybe everyone was a bit worse for wear, but in all my years of seeking out interesting pubs I’ve never experienced anything like this before. There is really no excuse to be that rude. I’d advise avoiding this pub at all costs.

What a great pub. Traditional old style local, people using it were socialising welcoming snd friendly. I went to an evening of karaoke hosted by the landlady. Could not have enjoyed it more.

Where do you start with The castle Inn? While staying in the lovely cannock for work we stumbled upon this little treasure. Such a great wholesome place, Jo, steph And Claire are just the best. Welcoming and constantly go out of their way to make your night feel special. We made this our regular whilst staying over and we couldn’t have picked a better place! Guys the ham was superb 👌 the locals were also very nice and welcoming! I had the best time, and would defo visit The castle Inn again should I come back to cannock. Thanks for a great couple of weeks 😁! Legends!!!!!

Where does one start with the castle inn. It’s a place of wonders. In fact, I think one of my new seven wonders of the world. Jo, Claire and Steph were top notch. Great service, great company, great vibes. The gammon they cooked specifically for my associates and I tasted like it came straight from Gordan Ramsey’s oven. Cheers.

Fantastic and welcoming atmosphere. Catered for myself and work friends on many an occasion while we were staying in the lovely Cannock. The gammon was top drawer, the pints were fresh and the pork scratchings were fabulous. If I could give more stars, i would, in fact, it would be the whole sky! Wonderful friendly pub, but oh so desperate in need of a revamp. The potential at the castle is massive. With so many new properties going up locally this could be the hub of the area. Take a visit? The beers are limited, usual stuff, Guiness, Coors and Stella. Drear and tired interior, a pool table which takes up most of the back room. This pub is an absolute goldmine. Unfortunately there seems to be no prospector. A massive loss.

This a little gem of a pub. A lovely land lady very bubbly. A small but very welcoming pub. A landlady that cares for her customer's and her pub and both show. Well worth a visit!

Came up from essex with a few mates to watch banger racing tried all the pubs near by which wernt anygood .what can i say from the minute we walked in what a pub jo and martin really know how to run a pub felt better than my local back home lots of beers to chose from friendly locals one of the best nights ive had will see you again
