What an absolute gem of a place the castle inn is, very welcoming and such a lovely warm and inviting atmosphere . We came on a Friday evening where the pub organises a meat raffle to raise funds for local charities or organisations close to their and the villages hearts . Staff are always smiling and happy to help customers . Friendly and fun little pub will definitely come back :) Well done Dave, shazla and the castle crew xx

If you like to go to a pub where almost all customers vaping then this is for you but not good experience am afraid 😳 we won't be coming back 😞

Only popped in for a couple of drinks whilst staying in Combe Martin but what a wonderful pub. The staff and locals were really friendly, Henry Weston’s Cider on draught at a reasonable price and the garden at the back was beautifully maintained. Will definitely be first on my list when we return to the area

Many thanks to Dave and his team for making us so welcome yet again, especially Lynne (my fellow Brummie) for doing a great job of making sure our glasses were always full and also thanks to the locals who also always make us feel like locals. This is our "local" when we're in Devon. Absolutely love the Pub, Sharon and Dave (landlady and landlord), the staff, Julie & Fin. All the entertainment, darts , quiz nights are brilliant. The locals are amazing treat you like good friends (which we hope now they are). I need to move to Combe Martin to be near here and these fabulous people

Wow what can I say. After me and my partner deciding to have a holiday in combe martin and we was very lucky and I mean very lucky to find this little gem. First night my partner and I was massively welcomed and was made to feel like we was locals. The girls on the bar were spot on and cudnt fault them at all. The drinks were well kept and tasted delicious and price was spot on also. To top it off the landlord gave us a lift back to the campsite which have never had befor. For anyone that's comes to this village please go to this pub. We will defo be back again, hopefully for longer. Thanks again to everyone at the castle.. nicki

I adore this pub. We come to North Devon for 5/6 months of the year for our health. The Castle Inn is our "local" whilst we're here. The people have treated us like locals and friends, from the first time we came in, they also let dogs in, even giving them little treats. We have made some lovely friends here including Sharon and Dave the Landlady and Landlord. Because of the atmosphere, friends we've made and the fantastic events put on but Sharon and Dave, we have now been coming down here from the Midlands for the last 4 years. I can't think of a better place/pub & wonderful friends and locals I'd like to spend time with. Keep doing what you do, you're smashing it Dave, Sharon, Julie, Fin, Allie and all the other staff. You have made our time here better than we could ever have hoped for. We love you all x

We visited here as a family (4 adults) with our dog as part of our Combe Martin pub crawl! A really warm welcome from the staff, cosy setting, great beer on tap and sport on tv. Great lively family atmosphere, we’d definitely return. Thank you team.

Was really busy as Octoberfest was on so went to the room at the back. Tense atmosphere constantly being stared at by a group playing pool. People openly vaping inside and underage drinking. The landlord/barman was certainly aware. Chris with his mate Luke sat at our table and try to intimidate. One guy followed me to the gents. People were either very drunk or very high. We left as even though we tried to ‘play along’ and ignore them it was close to kicking off. Not sure if it was because we weren’t local, 2 blokes together or just invading their space. In other words stay away unless you want to be stared at, pestered and driven out by the locals.

Friendly atmosphere, very welcoming. Strict Covid compliance which was very reassuring. Excellent, keep up the good work despite your sector colleagues letting you down just up the road!

Nice lunch and an excellent pint . Visited twice whilst on holiday . Food is reasonably priced against the opposition.Good experience with social distancing and good hygene .

Had a great Sunday lunch at the Castle Inn last week. The staff were welcoming and there was a good variety of freshly cooked vegetables, and a choice of three well cooked roast meats.

A big thank u to Proprietors David and Sharon O’Farrell for makeing us feel very welcome at their pub, room was beautiful and bed very comfy , had lovely scampi and chips in a basket and a drink . If we ever this way again would certainly stop here again so nice plenty of parking round the back of the pub . All the best Teena and Frank Straw

Wow! What a welcoming experience. Lovely b and b. Beautiful pub. Warm atmosphere. Very clean with great character. Yummy breakfast! Great spa bath! Comfy bed! Perfect. Me and my mother returned a visit to recall my childhood memories and we came across this pub. It's been over 10 years since we have returned to Combe Martin. From this lovely stay we have agreed we would like to come back and stay here again with more of the family next April. Every small detail has been thought out so carefully. So so grateful for all you've done for us. Thank you so much! I can't fault anything. Other than stop working so hard and have time for you! :)

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Castle Inn, never stayed in a pub before so we were a bit wary. Had no need to worry, it is a lovely place. We had the gold room, which had a spa bath. The room was spotless with lovely decor and a really comfortable bed.The hearty breakfast was taken in the bar, which was very quiet at that time of day.David and Sharon were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. We will certainly stay here again when we visit Combe Martin.

What a lovely pub. We just had drinks here and it was such a lovely atmosphere the music was playing.I wish we got to visit more then once in our week in devon. We will be back :)

It's a pub. Not more can be said really. Usual range of beers and a beer garden. Pop in for a drink if you are passing.

I stayed two nights at the Castle Inn whilst visiting the local Silver Mine. The owners Dave & Sharon are excellent hosts and the room was extremely well decorated and clean. You can come and go as you please, as the access to the top floor accommodation is via an outside separate door. There is also an ample car park to the rear of the pub. I was staying on my own at the pub and the locals were extremely friendly. On the Sunday night there was a quiz in favour of the local Folk Festival which coincides with the Oss. Arriving downstairs a little lateI played on my own. After the quiz was over two of the teams said that I should have joined them. If I visit Combe Martin again the Castle Inn will be my choice for accommodation as its a home from home for me, better than my local and much more fun.

This is a lovely place to stay, great location, really cheap drinks and the rooms are really reasonably priced and welcoming. There is, however, a but.... do check when you book if there is live music on in the pub when you are staying.... there was when we stayed and it went on till midnight right underneath the room we were staying in. It does say on booking.com that there is live music but it is very small on the listing and we didn't notice it. Once the live music finished, the music from the pub did continue and when people left, because you are on the street side of the pub, there were a lot of very noisy drinkers. We did complain and were told that we should have been told when we booked about the live music and to be fair, if we had been told we wouldn't have booked there having driven 5 hours from London. Breakfast was lovely.... the English breakfast was huge and this also contributed to the great value for money. We were offered a discount on the room because of the lack of sleep which we declined but it was a kind offer. All in all, if there is no live music on this is a really good value place to stay, just make sure you ask.

Fantastic Place great value, used the bar having sampled fine cask ales, superb clean room with tea coffee and biscuits on offer. Free toiletries too. Topped off with as good a breakfast you can get. Definitely stay here again Good host

A proper pub, Full of friendly locals. Host Dave was welcoming and professional. Our room was beautifully presented with swan folded towels and very tasteful decorations. We booked the room with a bath, ( as we don’t have on at home) perfect after a stunning coastal walk . The room as perfectly clean , hall ways simply but again very clean. Breakfast for champions .

we stayed here for one night beautiful room, spotless, warm and very comfortable our hosts Dave and Sharon were friendly and welcoming breakfast was excellent and the locals in the pub were the very friendly especially the blue staffy would highly recommend a stay here thanks guys Sharon and Paul

Massive thanks to The Castle Inn for an excellent night on 21st July. The lovely beer garden was buzzing, function room (excellent band Nine Yards) was rocking and the main bar was as always a great atmosphere. The perfect venue to host our celebration. Food was lovely and a big thanks to the land lord / land lady and the staff for doing us proud.

Really nice comfortable stay in a clean,well equipped room.Nice decor and furnishings. Owners had added lots of extra little comforts to make our stay great.Breakfast was really fresh and plenty of it! They really do go out of their way to please you.

everybody seems to swear here loudly. Felt unseasy in here not welcoming for tourists would never go back will use the pack from now on.

I stayed here for 5 nights and I couldn't have been made more welcome or comfortable. Anything I needed was taken care of with a smile. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was enjoyable and the price of it all was a steal. Will certainly be staying again.

We came here whilst on holiday to watch a football match on Sky. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It was clearly a locals pub, and we were obviously holiday makers, but the welcome couldn’t have been warmer. Looking at other reviews it’s clear this has got to be the friendliest pub in England! I wish we lived closer to it.

Very nice reasonably priced carvery. Booked last minute and they were happy to accommodate. Standard carvery fayre, and the desserts were delicious.

Visited Castle Inn for a Sunday Carvery with family . Lovely restaurant at rear overlooking superb garden , car park and the local church . Very friendly staff , both behind the bar and the carvery . Meal was absolutely superb ! Choice of 3 locally sourced meats , excellent choice of fresh veggies , yorkies, chefs spicey sausages and home made gravy . Then , if you have any room left , a choice of home made sweets . Highly recommended and will certainly go back for more . Do try it !

Although we are locals, it was our first Sunday lunch since new owners took over earlier this year. Wish we'd have visited sooner as it was great! Why would you slave over a hot stove at home when you can enjoy a two/three meat Sunday roast with six/seven varieties of vegetable. Excellent presentation, great staff, great price, we will be going again soon. Thank you................

Popped in most nights on a weeks stay in the area. Great crowd in the pub, Live Sports. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a traditional pub.

I came on holiday with my family. My parents have been coming for the past 3 years. They have visited the Castle on many occasions telling me what a lovely friendly welcoming pub. There where absolutely right. The staff where lovely. We came for a roast and it literally was amazing the best roast I have ever had. All home cooked and hot, lots of fresh veg to choose from and secret recipes that went down a treat. Massive compliments to the chef. Then we decided to have pudding. White chocolate cheese cake was insane. If you are in the area it's definitely well worth the money and more. I cannot wait to return next year.

We found this a vibrant and jolly pub crammed full of cheerful and friendly locals who keep the main bar area full, noisy and entertaining. Every Sunday there's a great value carvery in the function room with super food and lively, conversational staff. We loved our lunch time experience there!

Traditional local pub, very welcoming and serving great food - especially liked the Sunday carvery. We were really happy that the pub opened early morning to show the British and Irish Lions rugby tour to New Zealand, we saw three games during our week's stay in Combe Martin and liked the pub so much called in for a drink several other times despite the mile walk from where we were staying.

A must-visit pub every time we visit North Devon. Very friendly place, and always welcoming. Good selection of beer, at sensible prices.

Proper local pub that shows all the sports,cannot comment on the food as not eat there,people seem happy with it though, the real ale is always good,choice of 4,staff friendly,only complaint is the landlord did not buy me an xmas drink.

We found this place while looking for a Pub at the other end of Combe Martin. We had a drink and it's not a bad pub, obviously popular with locals, and holidaymakers sent by the local holiday parks and landlords. You can smoke out the front , play Pub games and they do food. And people get very very drunk and boisterous in here. But it has a cigarette machine, we noticed.

Drank in here a few times , nice traditional pub. Drinks were good , friendly staff and regulars. Sport is on, darts and food available.

Excellent local pub selling a great range of real ales plus ciders lagers etc . Great pub food , good value and big portions . Sunday lunch very good . Free car park at rear and beautiful garden , a real sun trap when it shines ! Well worth a visit .

Best pub in Combe Martin . This is where the locals eat and drink and where the visitors wish they had found it sooner . Brilliant . Excellent range of Real Ales , all in tip top condition with always Devon beer on offer . The food is good traditional pub grub . Home made dishes , decent portions and reasonably priced . Excellent Sunday Lunch just like you have at home ! Free car park at the rear and beautiful garden with lots of seating . Separate function room available for that special occasion . Live music and karaoke regularly plus Big Screens for all the sport . Go on , give it a try !
