Fabulous tea rooms in a unique location with beautiful views of the railway and the River Dee. The afternoon tea was delicious! We came yesterday for our Mum’s birthday and unfortunately she became unwell during our time at the tea rooms. The staff were lovely-so helpful, kind and couldn’t do enough for us, which we really appreciated during a stressful time. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you again for all your help and kindness.

We booked in for afternoon tea as a treat for our friends 50th birthday. We had arranged balloons for the table and it looked lovely when we arrived!! The food was delicious, really fresh and tasty. The girls working there were pleasant and helpful. The setting of the train carriage made it even more special! Thank you to everyone involved.

Due to COVID we had to scale back our wedding celebrations to just family so had to look for a venue at short notice that could cater for a small group yet still make it a special occasion. We popped in to sample the fine food and were very impressed. Speaking to Cath and her team they were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. On the day they set out the tables with all the accessories for us and had everything prepared for our arrival. The food and service were exceptional and we couldn’t have asked for more, and everyone enjoyed the food. No one left hungry, in fact some even had carry out with the left overs. If you are visiting Llangollen for the day or meeting up with others I would highly recommend Carriages.

The tea room is in a carriage at Llangollen railway station and is small but charming. When I visited there were restriction on the amount of people who could go in because of the COVID-19 restrictions but it was well managed. The lady who served me was welcoming and helpful. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

The Carriage Tea room hasn't been open when we visited previously so we were pleased to visit today. I had a savoury tea which was superb. Lovely cheese scone, cream cheese, chunk of cheese and chutney. Hubby enjoyed a panini with a very generous side salad and tortilla chips. We then shared Welsh cakes and an Eccles cake. All very nice food with fabulous service. Thank you

Last summer (2018) my granddaughter wanted to eat at Carriages, but they were closed due to issues with the water. So when we were in Llangollen this summer, we promised her we would definitely go back. On arrival, there was a sign up outside saying they were full and there would be a 20 minute wait before they would let new customers in - so we chose to wait at the gate. We could see the tables outside - many of which were empty. A few people left, but no staff were seen. Twenty minutes passed, still no sign of any activity. By now, all the tables visible inside and outside were empty. After a further 10 minutes, a member of the staff noticed us looking over the wall and came out to tell us that they were still busy from the lunchtime rush and it would be at least another 15 minutes before they reopened. Had a lovely late lunch at the restaurant across the bridge where we usually go - we won't be back for a third attempt!

There was just so much food we had to ask for a doggy bag! Selection of freshly made sandwiches with salad and crisps. Scones with jam, clotted cream and strawberries. Then ...2 slices each of cherry cake, bake well tart, macaroons and chocolate fudge brownies! Lovely pot of tea to wash it all down.

Before having a trip on the train, we decided to have some lunch at the carriage tearooms. We ate outside due to bringing our dog with us and thank goodness it was a mild day! I ordered leek and potato soup with a scone which was amazing, son had Brie and cranberry panini, dad had BLT and husband had a club sandwich, all which were gorgeous! We also had some pretty great hot chocolates( ordered another round after too) , really worth a visit and the staff were so lovely too !!

We are frequent visitors to Llangollen but this was the first time we spotted this little tearoom in a vintage railway carriage. Only had tea and cakes, but the staff were friendly and obliging and the tea was served in lovely mismatched china crockery which added to the vintage feel. We sat inside, but there are also outside tables if you want to sit in the sun. Very pleasant atmosphere - we will be back.

This is a lovely find at the llangollen railway station. Fantastic for the old carriages to be used this way and just so well done too. It's like a slice of English past with tranquil music playing in the background. The afternoon tea of sandwiches (No crusts) some salad, scone with clotted cream and jam and a selection of little cakes with a pot of tea was beautiful. The vintage decor tops it off brilliantly. The staff were excellent also. A*

This was a new cafe/restaurant to me in Llangollen, an actual rail carriage converted into a cafe/tea room. Looked very inviting decked out in Christmas lights and decorations when viewing from the bridge over the River Dee. Sat down inside and a waitress took our order which was quickly processed and arrived promptly. Lovely views from the windows over the town of Llangollen, the river and of course the wonderful heritage railway station itself. There are two seating areas in the carriage with the counter situated in the middle, to one end there was more comfortable "easy chair" type seating and the ordinary table and chair seating to the right of the carriage, there were also seats outside but it was far too cold to take advantage of the views from these on this visit. A very quaint idea and we shall be visiting again soon, thank you.
