The Cardwell in Inverclyde

Great place for a brilliant pub meal.

Just looks like your average local pub, seating area outside, to the back the view was amazing although I think tables for that area would need to be specifically booked. On entry we were seated at a small 2 seater table beside the reception desk which proved to be an inconvenience, we couldn't have a private conversation because the phone constantly rang (loudly) and of course the staff answered and took the bookings, while standing over us. Our table was clean, neibouring tables weren't but new customers alerted staff and the waitresses quickly remedied it Toilets were clean, no issues. Food. I ordered a chicken wrap and salad, chicken coujous rather than breast but edable, salad wasn't fresh, it was floopy brown lettuce was left at the side of my plate, Staff were friendly, Won't rush to return but wish them well

A z shaped family pub.clean and very friendly staff. Relaxing area for eating and a good space. Decent choices and well cooked and served with a smile. Guinness poured ok. Will be back.

Sausages pees, potatoes, soup, and tuna sandwich, not very hard to put together and get everything correct.. Firsty the soup was was very tasty, but then we go down hill, the tuna sandwich had no mayonnaise, no salt or pepper, Sausages came with boiled potatoes no gravy and very bland, all in all very, very disappointed. For the price they charge is should be a substantial meal not a snack... This is only my view..

A lovely, dog friendly,place, with really great pub food, a good selection of beers, fantastic views from the rear over the Clyde and Highlands, and an outside seating area in the Scottish sun. It's a thing!

Enjoyed another lovely meal today for lunch. The food is always great and staff always friendly. So glad this is my local.

Cheap and cosy, staff are always polite.

Every tennents glass I got was dirty then the owner walked over and said wits the problem I hadn't even said anything to him he then picked up my glasses looked at them then just walked away didn't say a word afterwords he was horrible same as the full experience wouldn't go back ever will also be telling everybody iknow not to go either

They don't allow dogs, which is a pity as it's near the park. However they have a beer garden.

Visited here for lunch. Frequently visited in the past. was overpriced for a chicken wrap . hardly a sign of chicken no garnish just chips. Steak and sausage pie no sausage. Obviously not trying hard enough and just there to make as much profit as possible.. Won't be back

Had lunch last 2 weeks here with friends. We had 2 tables 2 metres apart. With no alcohol tried the Nosecco..... Prosecco without the alcohol. Tasted great. Get out and support our local pubs.....😀

All pubs are having a difficult time with the Covid pandemic but The Cardwell has done a very impressive job in adapting themselves to protecting customers and staff. The food menu was extensive and great quality and value. A wide range of drinks were also available. The Cardwell is deceptively spacious. The small group of three of us had not been out to a pub since January but we felt confident we could go back to the Cardwell now we have seen the efforts made to make us feel welcomed.

A Great Pub for a bite to eat and a few Beers. Friendly staff at this local Landmark As well as great selection of beers wines And Spirits.

This pub is just that a neighbourhood pub comfortable and a nice atmosphere. The menu is decent with a good selection of pub grub. The soup is a big hit homemade and always a real treat. The main courses cover macaroni cheese, burgers , fish and chips and steak pie etc. Good quality home made and really pleasant staff. A good venue for some casual pub grub or a good weekend roast dinner. Prices are reasonable and a nice selection of drinks well worth a visit.

I used to be a regular in the Cardwell many years ago and visited this week hoping that it had moved on from the 80s. Unfortunately not, the gents toilet is as I remember it and prettty disgusting, the place is generated dingy, the outside frontage is a mess. I'd love to have a good pub in my doorstep but until the Cardwell gets some investment that's not happening soon.

I know this pub over many years and its so disappointing when I popped for the first time in many years to see nothing has changed. The gents toilets are still disgusting, the place is dingy and needs a major revamp. The frontage is an absolute mess and overall its not a great experience. I’ll maybe try again in a few years time but wont be surprised if nothing has changed.

Went popped in for sunday lunch,we tried to get service from the 3 bar staff 2 of whom did see us waiting but we're busy having a laugh on their phones,any way we managed to get a couple of drinks from the tall camp barman,not a nice person I gave to say probably more suited to a call centre role.we ordered our food soup that was ok and pakora that was still frozen,curry and lasagne both swimming in red grease just a horrible experience all round would never recommend the CARDWELL BAR to anyone .

Nice local sort of pub. A bit dated but clean and welcoming. Food served. Nice views of Cardwell Bay. Its a bit tricky doing the stars for the rating. There is nothing wrong with it but it just doesn't have a 5 star feel.

Poor hygiene within toilet facilities, does not entice in terms of food therefore.....manager is aloof and ignorant despite his satisfactory staff.... The overall decor has not been addressed in decades and the pub relies on the myth of high measures on spirits......poor layout within table wise also.

It was really busy and was hard to get hold of a waitress as they seemed a bit stretched. However, the service was friendly and I had the best macaroni cheese I've had in ages. Good home cooked food.

I had a late lunch. Service was good and food OK. Maybe because I was a little late for lunch and the oil was off or maybe could have done with changing. Service and welcome was good enough for me to give it another go at another time. Very much a pub.

Went to the Cardwell to try food. We were not disappointed!!!! Excellent Sunday Roast (gluten free) and great selection of meals. Well done to the Cardwell. Better service, food choices and prices than other places in Gourock. And gluten free options are excellent. Will be back ....often 😁😁😁

Plenty of choice of home cooked food and small portions available for anyone who wishes this. Among my favourites is their boiled ham salad....macaroni cheese....steak pie and many more.

The Cardwell does good pub food. Good menu selection from haggis pakora to steak pie. Decent sized menu good selection of starters etc. Main courses cover burgers macaroni cheese fish and chips , curry daily specials as well as sandwiches baked potatoes etc. There steak pie deserves a special mention legends are made of this. Deserts are great crumbles, cakes etc all very nice. Portion sizes are generous and pricing is great value for money. Expect mains about £ 8 and all food is freshly prepared. The staff are friendly efficient and the surroundings are pleasant. In summary great value homemade food in pleasant surroundings well worth a visit.

Had a amazing Sunday roast tonight rest of family had chicken curry very friendly and helpful staff service very fast lovely family run pub made to feel at home and prices are really good plus again I had the most amazing apple and cranberry crumble and custard out of this world. Definitely be a regular. Thanks to bret and family 10"out of 10
