Lovely venue. Lovely staff. Dog friendly. Sadly the sandwich ordered for lunch took 45 mins to arrive. Steak and caramelised onions was the filling for ciabatta. Steak was just ok, onions were sweated but nowhere near caramelised. The ciabatta was inedible. It tasted as though it was not baked fully and very soggy . Salad and red cabbage in mayo did little to enhance. Would visit again but not to eat. Such a shame.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere at the canal turn! The owners have really turned this pub around and made it such a warm and welcoming place. We have returned many times for delicious food and/or drinks after a dog walk. The food is delicious and homemade, hats off to their only chef, our personal favourites are the Steak & Guinness Pie and the huge Fish & Chips. We need to return for a Sunday roast because it looks amazing!

Fantastic! The new landlord and landlady have smartened up the old place without losing any of its character, run an excellent kitchen that can serve a family of five without booking at any time during the day, and make you feel welcome and valued. This place always had potential, and they have realised it fully. The beer is well kept - not always the case. And the atmosphere is friendly and busy - perfect, in fact!

We were pleased to see the Canal Turn reopen after being closed for over a year and we stopped by for a drink. The menu though limited looked reasonable so we decided to go back for a meal. When ordering, my husband was told his first choice steak pie was unavailable but having heard the previous customer being told the pie was being prepared but there might be a bit of a wait this was questioned and yes the pie was in fact on. I then ordered a burger only for us to hear the proprietor say, with his back turned, there are no burgers! No apology, no interaction with us, no friendly chatter, nothing welcoming about the place. We didn’t stay. Very disappointed. We won’t be going back.

Very disappointed, had heard good things about the Canal Turn , but those were from the past . We went later on a Sunday afternoon so some things on the menu were unavailable, this is understandable but to run out of chips when most things on the menu were ( or could be ) accompanied by chips seems to be bad planning . The two young ladies running front of house were very friendly and helpfull but kitchen staff seemed to give the impression they would rather not be there . Someone went for frozen chips so food became available . When it came my gammon steak was fine but the chips were only just cooked , another minute or so to crisp them would have helped . A very disappointing visit , we will not be returning in the near future there are plenty of other places in the area

My husband, son & I visited the Canal Turn for an evening meal after it was recommended to us by a family member. We regularly stay at a caravan site nearby & like to visit Carnforth town centre so the pub was very handy. The ambience, service & food were all fantastic. We would like to return for lunch during the day another time so we can see the gorgeous canal view by the side of the pub. I imagine it’s wonderful during the summer with the back doors open & that lovely view. We chatted to the local regulars in the pub as well as the staff, everyone was very friendly & welcoming. After visiting today having not been for 12 months it was clear that something had changed, know now from the reviews. It was our first choice for lunch as previous visits the food has been outstanding with a welcoming atmosphere. Today was nothing like previous visits , walking through the door we picked up a menu which was all mixed together and not clear . One sheet of printed paper in a A4 double folder … still not aware that things had changed we picked our meals , noticing that previous dishes were missing. We both picked our meals and both went for the philli cheese steak with CHIPS , onion rings , mushroom and tomato. While ordering food we ordered drinks too , took 5 minutes for the bartender to get the drinks right with out constantly being asked what I had asked for, not filling us with confidence. The man was however very pleasant and polite. While waiting the bartender came over with utensils, no steak knife . Then the meal came out …. To say it was not what we expected was an understatement. The CHIPS were French fries not chips that had been advertised, adding to that they were the cheapest, nastiest and coldest fries we have ever been served. The onion rings were literally just grease and fell straight apart, tomato not cooked and the mushroom…. Could have took someone’s teeth out . The steak would be embarrassed to actually call it that never mind serve it. It was tasteless and like rubber … wearing flip flops sandals myself I would have tasted better eating my own shoe ! Was nothing like philli cheese . If not already paid there would be no chance of paying for the meal , we couldn’t even finish it because it was that horrendous. The bartender did come and check that the meal was ok but after hearing the chef belittling him we were not putting him in a position of confrontation. Also we heard it was his last day too as inappropriate conversation where being had for everyone to hear. Will definitely not be going back and really hopes it improves for their benefit because I would be embarrassed to call myself a chef serving the food and for my behaviour in-front of customers.

I came here a few years ago and gave it a 5 star rating, my god has it changed and not for the better, The empty car park should of been the 1st red flag. On entering the establishment my first sight was that of a girl standing looking like she didnt know were she was or what her job was. The person behind the bar either didnt speak english or communicated what i can only describe as grunts and mumbles. The welcoming atmosphere has completely gone, i ordered off a very limited menu. 1 steak and kidney pie and 1 steak and gravy pie, the girl i first mentioned came out after only 5 minutes. from the time it took her to leave the kitchen to arrive at our table she forgot which pie was which and guessed, and yes she guessed wrong, the pub has got so much potential the location is amazing right on the canal side and they could make a fortune if the service was more welcoming and there was more variety of food, i mean a streak or a mixed grill would be a start, if there was 12 people there that was it, its the summer holidays in a seaside town this place should be packed. I will not be returning.

This pub is situated in a stunning canal side setting. There is a car park and ample outside seating for a sunny afternoon. It has recently changed management and it is evident they are making a go of it and I wish them every success. The food - I had scampi fries and side salad, classic pub grub.and a good size portion. The side salad was iceberg lettuce 1 cherry tomato and a couple of slices of pepper. I would have rather some mixed salad leaves. My partner had canal club ciabatta which was like a spicy chicken mayo with bacon and tomato. He assures me it tasted better than it looked. (Vomit on a bun) ha The fries were nice but some would say overdone. They were dark golden and crispy I personally liked them. My only slight niggles were the choice of coffee advertised wasn't on offer and we had filter which was cold and was warmed in the microwave. My other no no was the table was sticky :/ and at one point over the coffee we nearly cancelled our order but continued in support of the small local business. It sounds as if I didn't enjoy it. I did ,.it was basic and because I'm not posh by any stretch I overlooked the niggles as I want this local pub to survive. The venue itself is beautiful and it has only been open a few weeks and I'm sure they will thrive and will be able to reinvest some profits on improving the menu. If you are looking for beautiful food near Carnforth then the Longlands is the place to go. The goats cheese and walnut salad was divine.

Previously a fantastic pub in a great location by the side of the canal. What was a well cared for pub has become run down and tired. On a Saturday afternoon there were very few people with bar staff clearly not a clue what they...

Really friendly pub, good value with nice staff. We arrived drenched and there first priority was helping us find somewhere to dry our coats. We’ll be back again

We started with my wife ordering a glass of Sauvignon blanc, she repeated the order three times and we found she had been served a Chardonnay. I ordered two different pints, Timothy Taylor's Bolt and Black sheep bitter. Both were the two worst pints I have ever drunk. Both were lifeless. Now the food. My wife had a stock standard Scampi, chips and salad. Nice portion sizes and nice and hot. I ordered a Cumberland sausage pie, which was obviously left over from lunch and had been microwaved to an inch of its life. The pastry was so hard it was inedible. This was replaced with the meat and potatoe pie. The filling was bland and the pastry uncooked in places. We have generally found pubs close to the canal of a high standard, food and drink wise, the canal turn failed on both fronts. Would I go back. No, No, No.

Harry’s Bar is well and truly OPEN! Went for lunch. The beer selection and wine is great. We both had the fish and chips my wife had the £8 small portion and I asked for mine to be lightly battered the staff said it wasn’t a problem as it’s all freshly cooked.

Came here to visit from the 02/05/25 - 05/05/25 Lancaster for the first time . Firstly I would like to say Sally who works behind the front desk is honestly amazing. She is so kind and caring a true asset to the hotel nothing was to big for her to help fix. She made our experience amazing. House keeping kept the rooms beautiful and clean and the the hotel it's self smelt lovely clean and well looked after. Breakfast was so worth it and amazing. I can't praise this hotel enough thank you so so much truly we will be back and I can't wait to see all the staff again but especially Sally this is definitely more then a 3 star hotel it's more of a 5 star hotel. And food was 10/10
