Just had a lovely meal here to celebrate my dad and husband's birthdays. The food was lovely and the staff were attentive without being too pushy - just right. The food quality was good value for money and we all enjoyed it. They responded to all my messages very positively when booking. The only disappointing thing was that it is not well supported by locals- Use it or lose it folks!

Excellent location with outside seating so views of the canal to be enjoyed while supping a pint indoors or out. Also, a chef cooking up hearty food again, including some non-meat options. Would recommend for locals and visitors alike. Oh, and it’s dog-friendly. I wish I had a dog.

I decided after a long walk by the canal , I looked online before I came out . I was about to enter the pub , a member of staff who was smoking outside a young woman said rudly have you come here for food , it's on served Monday or Tuesday. The menu outside inthe notice board didn't say this or the Google online . Very disappointing, very bad by the pub manager not to say it on their website . Not a good experience atall. Not sure if I would go back even when the kitchen is open .

First time at canal turn. Very nice food and exceptional service. Food was quick, plentiful and tasty All staff are a credit to the place Can’t wait for next summer to sit in the lovely beer garden overlooking the canal The salt and pepper halloumi was Devine nice to see a twist with it than the usual, definitely the best I’ve had. Sunday roast was tasty and hot don’t get beef a lot as I find people don’t cook it pink enough for my liking but it was perfectly cooked, was to full for a pudding but hopefully get to try them next time Very reasonable prices We will back soon Thank you ☺️

Stopped by for a cup of tea whilst on a dog walk. Seated outside with lovely views of the canal turning point. Wildlife milking around , other dog walkers passing by who were friendly and stopped for a chat. A lovely pub and although I didn't eat here today, I would certainly go back and also recommend to others.

I was recently asked to leave the pub by the manager (?) and I was very uncomfortable with the situation. He yelled at me and I feared that he would take my shoes if I went back inside. I'm not sure what I did wrong but I don't want to risk going back in there and being yelled at again. I would not recommend this pub to anyone as it appears the manager has a temper and is not professional.

Recently visited this pub. I was greeted by a friendly member of the kitchen staff who looked clean and she was very friendly. She said hello and told us to grab a seat. She said she’d just joined the team so we were feeling apprehensive - anyways she most definitely proved us wrong. We ordered and the food was fantastic, tasty, well presented, lovely and great value for money. Me and my friend left feeling totally satisfied. We will definitely return due to the quality of the food and the kindness from that lovely girl. Many thanks!

Very disappointed, had heard good things about the Canal Turn , but those were from the past . We went later on a Sunday afternoon so some things on the menu were unavailable, this is understandable but to run out of chips when most things on the menu were ( or could be ) accompanied by chips seems to be bad planning . The two young ladies running front of house were very friendly and helpfull but kitchen staff seemed to give the impression they would rather not be there . Someone went for frozen chips so food became available . When it came my gammon steak was fine but the chips were only just cooked , another minute or so to crisp them would have helped . A very disappointing visit , we will not be returning in the near future there are plenty of other places in the area

My husband, son & I visited the Canal Turn for an evening meal after it was recommended to us by a family member. We regularly stay at a caravan site nearby & like to visit Carnforth town centre so the pub was very handy. The ambience, service & food were all fantastic. We would like to return for lunch during the day another time so we can see the gorgeous canal view by the side of the pub. I imagine it’s wonderful during the summer with the back doors open & that lovely view. We chatted to the local regulars in the pub as well as the staff, everyone was very friendly & welcoming. We will definitely go back!

Took the family out for a meal for my daughters birthday. The food was terrible, arrived cold and undercooked. Could hear the locals discussing how the pub had deteriorated since the new owners had taken over and how current staff hadn’t even been paid. Thus being said the young lad behind the bar was friendly and couldn’t be anymore apologetic for our food.

After visiting today having not been for 12 months it was clear that something had changed, know now from the reviews. It was our first choice for lunch as previous visits the food has been outstanding with a welcoming atmosphere. Today was nothing like previous visits , walking through the door we picked up a menu which was all mixed together and not clear . One sheet of printed paper in a A4 double folder … still not aware that things had changed we picked our meals , noticing that previous dishes were missing. We both picked our meals and both went for the philli cheese steak with CHIPS , onion rings , mushroom and tomato. While ordering food we ordered drinks too , took 5 minutes for the bartender to get the drinks right with out constantly being asked what I had asked for, not filling us with confidence. The man was however very pleasant and polite. While waiting the bartender came over with utensils, no steak knife . Then the meal came out …. To say it was not what we expected was an understatement. The CHIPS were French fries not chips that had been advertised, adding to that they were the cheapest, nastiest and coldest fries we have ever been served. The onion rings were literally just grease and fell straight apart, tomato not cooked and the mushroom…. Could have took someone’s teeth out . The steak would be embarrassed to actually call it that never mind serve it. It was tasteless and like rubber … wearing flip flops sandals myself I would have tasted better eating my own shoe ! Was nothing like philli cheese . If not already paid there would be no chance of paying for the meal , we couldn’t even finish it because it was that horrendous. The bartender did come and check that the meal was ok but after hearing the chef belittling him we were not putting him in a position of confrontation. Also we heard it was his last day too as inappropriate conversation where being had for everyone to hear. Will definitely not be going back and really hopes it improves for their benefit because I would be embarrassed to call myself a chef serving the food and for my behaviour in-front of customers.

Went here today, Sunday of a bank holiday weekend. Ordered glass of wine and was given it in a gin glass. Asked if there were any wine glasses and then I was handed one. Asked for the menu but was told food stopped 20 minutes ago as they had pretty much ran out of everything. Goodness knows what they will do if they have ANY customers on bank holiday Monday. Pub locked up completely at 9pm. What is going on in Carnforth. Pretty grim place if you want a meal on a bank holiday weekend. Will definitely not go again.

I came here a few years ago and gave it a 5 star rating, my god has it changed and not for the better, The empty car park should of been the 1st red flag. On entering the establishment my first sight was that of a girl standing looking like she didnt know were she was or what her job was. The person behind the bar either didnt speak english or communicated what i can only describe as grunts and mumbles. The welcoming atmosphere has completely gone, i ordered off a very limited menu. 1 steak and kidney pie and 1 steak and gravy pie, the girl i first mentioned came out after only 5 minutes. from the time it took her to leave the kitchen to arrive at our table she forgot which pie was which and guessed, and yes she guessed wrong, the pub has got so much potential the location is amazing right on the canal side and they could make a fortune if the service was more welcoming and there was more variety of food, i mean a streak or a mixed grill would be a start, if there was 12 people there that was it, its the summer holidays in a seaside town this place should be packed. I will not be returning.

As soon as I checked the reviews after visiting, I knew it must have changed owners since the positive reviews received over the years. It's a fantastic location which could be, and clearly has in the past been, so much better. Food was very poor and unappetising. The place in general was quite tired. It didn't feel like the owner / management really wanted to invest any time or effort into the business and just wanted to rely on the fact that it's a great location. Such a shame but hopefully there'll be another change in management in the near future as I can't imagine it lasting as is.

Manager(?) very abrupt and not very welcoming….. talked down a lot to the bar staff making uncomfortable atmosphere….. dogs welcome, but NOT dog friendly, kept telling our small well behaved dog to stay under the table, no offer of water bowl! Very rowdy customers at bar using bad language and speaking on speaker phone, no respect or told by management to tone it down! Food was ok, nothing fancy in choice or presentation ……. All specials/dessert boards empty resulting in asking the young chap what was on offer when clearing our table and the Manager ‘overhearing’ and shouting choices from behind bar! This pub is situated in a stunning canal side setting. There is a car park and ample outside seating for a sunny afternoon. It has recently changed management and it is evident they are making a go of it and I wish them every success. The food - I had scampi fries and side salad, classic pub grub.and a good size portion. The side salad was iceberg lettuce 1 cherry tomato and a couple of slices of pepper. I would have rather some mixed salad leaves. My partner had canal club ciabatta which was like a spicy chicken mayo with bacon and tomato. He assures me it tasted better than it looked. (Vomit on a bun) ha The fries were nice but some would say overdone. They were dark golden and crispy I personally liked them. My only slight niggles were the choice of coffee advertised wasn't on offer and we had filter which was cold and was warmed in the microwave. My other no no was the table was sticky :/ and at one point over the coffee we nearly cancelled our order but continued in support of the small local business. It sounds as if I didn't enjoy it. I did ,.it was basic and because I'm not posh by any stretch I overlooked the niggles as I want this local pub to survive. The venue itself is beautiful and it has only been open a few weeks and I'm sure they will thrive and will be able to reinvest some profits on improving the menu. If you are looking for beautiful food near Carnforth then the Longlands is the place to go. The goats cheese and walnut salad was divine.

We started with my wife ordering a glass of Sauvignon blanc, she repeated the order three times and we found she had been served a Chardonnay. I ordered two different pints, Timothy Taylor's Bolt and Black sheep bitter. Both were the two worst pints I have ever drunk. Both were lifeless. Now the food. My wife had a stock standard Scampi, chips and salad. Nice portion sizes and nice and hot. I ordered a Cumberland sausage pie, which was obviously left over from lunch and had been microwaved to an inch of its life. The pastry was so hard it was inedible. This was replaced with the meat and potatoe pie. The filling was bland and the pastry uncooked in places. We have generally found pubs close to the canal of a high standard, food and drink wise, the canal turn failed on both fronts. Would I go back. No, No, No.

Well we thought we would have a bit of lunch whilst out walking our dog, firstly there were no main courses available, and even the staff didn't know why that was the case, so we had a burger each from the light bite menu, and a portion of fries, I asked if the onion rings were home made, the lady checked for me and said they were not available today as they had no batter, wow Tesco is across the road, you only need some flour onions and beer, and you've got the beer it's a pub!!! The food when it arrived was very average, burgers poor quality and fries nearly burnt, and tasted a bit bitter, so we left nearly all of it, we drank up and continued on our walk. Staff are lovely and the beer was good but we won't be eating there again any time soon, it's a real shame as it only just reopened recently, hopefully they can get it sorted and get some positive feedback soon 👍

Easter Sunday, stopped here for a drink, my husband order us a Carvery. The meat was lovely and the vegetables was under cook. It's was our first time here, wouldn't be a rush to come back. Give us £4 back there was three of us!

Pub is rubbish, the landlords are never there and ring when they want the lovely staff to close up, when we called in there was only Carling left on draft and all other draught Lager's/beers had run out along with wine, it had apparently been...

The only good thing about this place is that it's situated on the canal.. The food was freezing and rubbish. Steak was overcooked, and the onion rings were calamari. Good job, we didn't have a food allergy. The coke is cheap, tasting coke, and the poor staff rushed off their feet and were taking all sort of complaints, when really a manager should have been dealing with complaints. I wouldn't recommend going and will not return. Someone suggested another pub further up the road from it and suggest it was better food and better services. It's such a shame because this is a lovely looking pub and could be an amazing pub under the right management.

Absolutely brilliant find. Great beer. Great music. Great barmaid. Pool table. What more do you need ? It was a quiet Sunday night in Carnforth until we found this place !

As with previous reviews we got caught out with the scam car park fees, there are no clear signs, why would you be looking for one? It’s a pub car park, as a tour guide who travels the U.K constantly I can’t think of another pub that operates a car park like this, to add insult to injury the food was distinctly average. My advice is if you are going for the Isle of Man ferry, eat on the boat and avoid this blatant scam.

I visited Saturday after a walk along the canal, I sat down ordered my food, it felt very rushed. It was lunchtime so Light Bites menu I went for the fish meal. It was very small portion for the price . I have eaten bigger portions of light bites in other places. I thought in a lovely place like Hest bank for locals & tourists the welcome & food quality would have been much better. I definitely will not return.
