First time in very good atmosphere

Excellent place, beer great, locals friendly, landlady lovely, toilets clean 🤩

More of a local pub, but it was very welcoming.

Having read the various reviews, we decided to go there for lunch with the family. Only problem we encountered was that they don’t do any food. But of a disappointment.

Only light hoppy ales on. Big fat bloke sat at the bar effing and blinding could hear him across the pub. Won't be going in again. The landlady was lovely.

Liam and his team have really got this lovely old place working for and with its community. It a warm and welcoming pub to visit with a good crowd of locals from all age groups using it regularly and visitors as and when.

Fantastic little old school Drinkers pub, Full of friendly people without all the expensive frills. Liam and his staff are the nicest people you could wish to meet. They made me welcome and I'm a southerner, with the wrong accent.

If this pub has just been fully refurbished I am the queen of England. Grotty is the only way I can describe it. Beer garden lol table's on concret out the back. Don't bother.

Very warm and friendly place staff make you feel welcome. They have a few tasty ales to offer and some lovely gins . Very clean place with screens up at the bar however they do come to your designated table for your order. There are screens around each table too so they are following the government guidelines for Covid ....very pleasant stay and will be visiting again soon 😊

Super pub! Authentic old world. Good friendly service. Check out the stone steps and the internal wooden shutters on the first floor.

Landlord did really well accommodating 2 families. He wasn’t doing food but sorted out 2 tables for us at a nearby indian restaurant - went up and beyond the call of duty. Drinks were nice, staff were prompt and courteous. Will definitely return.

A group of us called in last night for a couple of pints. a great choice of real ales and keg lagers something for everyone quite busy for a Monday evening they even had warm Pies and lancashire crisps to offer. There is beer garden out back but we did not get there on this occasion friendly service from the bar staff as well

Ate here last night with my son who loudly claimed the Texas Burger was the best he’d ever had! Nachos, spicy salsa, onion rings, it was HUGE but really tasty. I had gammon egg and chips, always a good test plate, and it was brilliant. The chips are home made, which is rare these days and they were so sweet! The egg was perfect and runny and the gammon juicy. My only complaint would be the Peas were over cooked, but I’m nitpicking really. Service with a smile from both the waitress and the chef. This is a small pub restaurant that is definitely worth a second visit. See you soon

The worst customer service ever. With changing management more frequent than I change my underwear the managerial merry go round has certainly outdone itself this time. Rather than threatening customers, drinking at the end of the bar moving forward I think to fill you’re spare time you should look at, 1. Renevating glasses regularly if not weekly. 2. Checking gas supply or suppliers of products. 3. Staff training. 4. Checking cellar temperatures and equipment.

We had a burger here at lunch time and they were very good. We will call again if we are passing here. Nice friendly landlord too.

Called in last week with hubby and dog (yes dogs are welcome). Good selection of cask ales and lagers. Stayed for another pint and a bit of food. Pizza on a deal with a pint was pretty bad, but probably expecting too much for £7. Chicken burger wasn't a burger but goujons which were dry. Landlord said "they'd run out of burgers" but didn't bother to let us know so we could choose something else !

My wife and I just had a burger and fries, but I was very good and we will go there again when we are passing. Well not just passing but stopping and calling in.

Lovely friendly pub. Live music usually on Fridays. Good feel to it, and dogs welcomed.

Staff were really friendly, good choice of beers and the food excellent. We had the sirloin steaks, they were juicy and cooked to perfection and 10 out of 10 value for money. Will definitely recommend to others and will be back !

The Allum always seems to be busy and I have noticed and like, is that they seem to employ the more mature, rather than young students.

Beautiful village pub that always has a good crowd of people in . Pizzas are unbelievable for around 5 pounds you can get a massive pizza perfect evey time . Nice choice of ale . Beer garden needs sorting. Keep asking when the bedrooms will be available. Staff are brill did everything to make our visits great

Been frequenting this boozer for the last 4 weeks. A very friendly real village pub feel. A good choice of ale and lagers. Looking forward to it reopening after the refurbishment.

Welcoming staff, good service, friendly locals, pool table in side room. A place to stop and take a refreshing drink, enjoy a packet of Lancashire crisps and a well kept local ale or glass of wine. The bar and minimal style of furnishings and decor has changed the ambience of this once traditional pub atmosphere. A welcome stop for walkers, cyclists and those using the canal pathway. There are a selection of restaurants and take aways a few minutes walking distance away.

we stayed here 2 nights while rest of family stayed out doors camping it was a last minute booking we had a warm friendly welcome the rooms are basic but clean and have a good comfy bed for the price you pay and a good choice of cereals fruit yoghurt toast crumpets tea cakes orange juice tea and coffee in the price the pub had a good atmosphere in the evening so give it a try and dont go off old reviews we will stay again

I have lived in the village for 15 years, it was always a pokey dingy pub. It was refurbished an under new management but it's still just a pokey little pub with no atmosphere, unhelpful staff and lousy beer.

A pub with real history and character. Bar staff friendly and helpful, however went in on a Saturday lunchtime just for a drink, thought rather expensive for a glass of wine and a beer. Bar area refurbished, unfortunately with all the atmosphere of a dentists waiting room. This could be a super pub, needs a focal point like an open fire rather than an enormous TV blasting out BBC news, and with a bit more money spending on furnishings, all looked a bit dated.

Havent been in here for years but out on a walk & called in with friends. Lovely decor now, but we wont be coming again, wine the dearest we have ever had in a local pub,also we went to sit in the beer garden & there was a pile of dog poo near the doorway. I went to tell the girl behind the bar but there was nothing done about it, disgusting.

It's a Tripadvisor Mystery Story:- “We don't do food!” says kaymo 2013, while Oldhamman says “New chef and well worth a try”. When we were arranging to meet up at the Blue Anchor with a cheery group of fellow leaflet-droppers for the local MP, I took a look at all the more recent Tripadvisor reviews. Naturally, the first question I asked the landlord was "Do you do food?" The answer was "Yes and no"! They cater for a lot of special events - today's being a large reunion of local firemen. And the hotel guests get a cooked breakfast. But they no longer have a chef. So no meals for the casual customer. They are having success with local mums, who drop in after leaving the kids at school nearby and avail themselves of a special offer of tea or coffee for £1. And are there cakes and pastries for sale - they look scrumptious. We merely had an elegant latte and chatted to a couple of local residents. No doubt we'll succumb to the temptations of flapjack and sponge cake in the near future!

We found the Blue Anchor on trip advisor. Wanted to eat out Boxing day 2013 so drove up from Morecambe. Place definitely full of locals only. The pub might be quite nice and the beer wonderful but we didn't get to find out as they don't serve food! Why is this pub still on the restaurants list???!!!!

No habíamos visitado el Blue Anchor durante un tiempo y después de nuestra última visita decepcionante, decidimos visitar para el almuerzo. Las primeras impresiones fueron que el pub entero estaba limpia, fresca y tenía mucho más amable personal. La cerveza de tonel estaban bien cuidados y precios promedio. Los nuevos propietarios son gente muy amable y cortés.

Mi hija y yo tenía un vale para gastar en la comida, así que reservamos una mesa para 1,30 en sábado.

WOW what can i say i walked in the newly refurbished Blue A nchor in Bolton-le sands after hearing so many good reports about it from various people and sure enough it did not disappoint they have wonderful coffee and cakes and the landlady and staff were extremly friendly and helpful, they couldnt do enough for us even though they were busy. the refurb is lovely clean bight and welcomming with a beautiful roaring log fire. We did have a meal and was not disappointed it did take a little longer than usual but it did state on the menu all food is freshly prepared to order, My heese and Onion pie was todie for it was totally home made . My family and i will definately be going again in fact ive booked a table for this week end. Well done Mitchells for finding a good tennant .

Cenamos aquí la semana pasada mientras visitaba Bolton Le Sands. Todo el mundo fue muy amable en lo que parecía ser un agradable pub/hotel recientemente reformado. fuimos a cenar pero me pareció que no todo lo que hay en el menú estaba disponible. Nuestras dos primeras opciones no estaban, así que pedimos los filetes. esperamos a unos 20 minutos en llegar. Los servían con las cosas habituales incluyendo los mejores aros de cebolla que he tenido. Los filetes no eran lo mejor que se puede decir. en general nos gustó mucho nuestra visita y especialmente nuestro asiento junto a la chimenea de leña, que fue muy apreciado con el muy frío que tuvimos en esta breve descanso. Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que visite la zona.
