Just had a delightful afternoon tea yesterday at this lovely little spot and cannot recommend it highly enough. We have sampled afternoon tea in many top notch hotels and none of them come close to what the Cake room offers. Fresh home made soup to start followed by scones with jam and cream, a selection of sandwiches and wraps, gorgeous sausage rolls and a wonderful selection of sweet treats and all home made. Absolutely beautiful and enough left over to fill two large boxes to take home. We will def be back. Welll done to the owner and the lovely staff working there!

Popped in for lunch. Partner had French onion soup, served with crusty bread. He said it reminded him of a soup he'd enjoyed in Montmartre, Paris, which is a great compliment! I wasn't very hungry so asked if they could do me an egg mayo sandwich. It was lovely! John & Pearl are welcoming & friendly - visit before they retire!

Popped in spur of the moment to grab a bite of lunch as I saw advertised on a board outside that they do soup of the day with crusty bread for £3.25. Todays was Roasted Red Pepper and Basil. The soup was delicious and extremely good value. The staff were more then happy to provide additional bread if needed and were very helpful.

Four of us popped in this cafe for a snack during a walking holiday in Gloucestershire last week. I had a superb parmesan and herb scone and other dishes included a toasted teacake (absolutely massive), a cornish pasty and a sausage roll. Including an enormous pot of tea the whole bill came to just over £8 - we thought there must have been a mistake as it was so little, but no. The two owners were extremely friendly and helpful telling us a little about the immediate area and of a nice walk round a lake. We would certainly have gone back had we been staying longer and I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely little cafe.

We LOVE this place! I had a lemon tart with cream, my husband had a lumpy bumpy cake and we both had drinks, and it came to just £5! Absolute bargain! And the cakes were really really lovely. By far our favourite tea room. And the couple who run it are so lovely. Can't recommend this place enough. Would give them 10 stars if we could :-) Keep up the good work!

hELLO, i am from Gillingham and I would like to share this amazing experience of the Eggfree Cakebox. I had not heard-of EggFree Cakebox before but, a friend recommended it to me. One thing I dislike about the Eggfree Cakebox is there promotional efforts, I have not seen any of the advertisemens. I think that they should not rely on the word of mouth as many have not heard of their fantastic cakes.

Popped in here during the Lunch time whilst visiting Newent with family. Warm welcome given on entry and shown to the one remaining table. Drinks order taken straight away and then left to peruse the menu. Order of 3 x Panini taken within 5 minutes. Slightly disappointed in the Panini as they were toasted baguettes. I also ordered mine with pickle but when it arrived I had to ask for pickle as none had been put in.We felt like a dessert so checked the menu, unfortunately the 3 desserts we ordered were not available and only cakes were offered. We felt we should have been told that the desserts were off and not available when we were given the menu rather than being told when we tried to order them.

Our third visit to this intimate Italian Trattoria and once again we had a perfect evening. The atmosphere , the service and especially the food were all wonderful. I thoroughly recommend the minestrone soup for starter and trout for the main , if available , - it's baked in a bag ! If you still have room , indulge yourself with the lemon tart. You will not be disappointed.

We are addicted to cream teas, and planned our trip to the charming low key market town of Newent to get a taste of them, as well as enjoying the other attractions. We arrived on a freezing cold windy rainy day and were delighted to seek refuge in this quaint little place, all prettily decorated for the holiday season with quiet carols playing. at first we were told there was no cream, just jam and butter, but on seeing our faces the lovely owners rustled up some wonderful thick cream (not squirty cream - they told us they never serve that and the reviewer who mentioned it must be mixing them up with someone else). But the high point of the tea were the scones- the best we have had this trip and maybe the best ever, just the right degree of crumblyness, with not only currants but also candied peel...a large pot of strong tea for us all, and extra hot water and milk for the baby were supplied with pleasure. The tables were covered with beautiful embroidered tablecloths, spotlesslyclean and starched. Altogether a reviving experience.and only ten pounds for the lot for the four of us. Highly recommended

Essentially Italian food and makes a change from the takeaways around it. Very personal attention. No licence but they provide glasses for your own wine. I hope it stays like that as restaurant provided wine is around three times what you would pay for the same in the supermarket.A cake shop during the day, and a restaurant at night.

My wife and I had a lovely meal here with a couple of friends. It was the best Italian food I have enjoyed since I was in Italy three years ago. No exaggeration. And the service was friendly and helpful. I am so glad I went for the £18 option so I was able to indulge myself in tiramisu for desert. Perfect. I will be visiting again for my wedding anniversary.

This was our first visit to this quaint and cosy tea room which becomes an Italian kitchen on Friday and Saturday evenings. We received a warm welcome and the service throughout our meal was friendly and attentive.Tables and menu choice have to be given in advance by the Thursday evening which wasn't a problem as we all knew what we wanted anyway. It's a small olde worlde place with quite an intimate feel which we all found delightful. There's no licence to serve alcohol so you need to take your own drinks - however a welcome jug of water is provided on each table.

We arrived early for lunch on a Wednesday as we have a very large Dobermann dog and wanted to make sure there was space for him We were greeted by a lovely young lady and shown to our table. The fire was roaring as we walked in and we knew straight away we had found the perfect Cotswolds pub Lunch was delicious,we had the Welsh rarebit, washed down with a mulled wine and a pint of local lager Service was outstanding, friendly and efficient. Our Dobermann got plenty of strokes too! Highly recommend this place. Not sure that you will find any better in the Cotswolds. A lovely setting too!

We had the tasting menu on a Sunday night, which in most places on a Sunday the passion and enthusiasm for guests is often not there. Here however the food was outstanding, the service first class. Nothing was to much trouble. Just right for a birthday getaway. I would quite happily come back and eat everyday! The taste, presentation and portion sizes were just perfect. Congratulations to the whole team.

They said that i could order chips but be cooked in a different fryer due to my celiac disease but when asked they wouldn't do it due to being busy. I don't get to have takeaways now and this was a treat but was let down. Lovey feedback from them 👇👇 well mannered 👍 avoid if you have dietary requirements.
