Really excellent lunch at this high end tea shop. Tasty food, attentive service and pleasant decor. A friendly warm place to have lunch when visiting the village on a cold day

Outstanding… such a well oiled machine. The staff the service and the food was great. Credit to management on how staff work so well. A must if you’re visiting Dartmoor. 10 out of 10 on all levels.

Exceptional in all ways. The soup was sumptuous with an amazing flavour and the cheese scone was really light and cheesey. The most delicious cheese scone you could ever imagine! The staff were efficient, very helpful and freindly and the garden and cafe were lovely places to be in. We sat in the garden. Perfect.

A superb busy cafe that offers an interesting variety of meals. Service is quick, the food tasty and the portions large. Downside is paid parking and its pricey, but its still definitely worth a visit

We visited this place on our road trip around Cornwall. We ordered an English breakfast and coffee. Their homemade beans are very interesting and good. Also, try their scones; I've never had such a good scone ever. They are dog-friendly. They get busy, but it's worth trying. The food is amazing, and the place is cute. It's pricey, but you get your money's worth. We would come back again for sure. #travelwithtentbox

This is the second time I have been here. The food is wonderfully presented. I was really impressed. We both a burger. It was so nice. Also had a cappuccino. Staff were really friendly too. I would definitely recommend.

Service was extremely fast even though it was so busy. Staff were lovely and food was delicious! I had the burger and it was one of the best I've ever had. You do have to pay for parking but it’s only about £1 per hour.

A very nice café with various warm (main) dishes as well as cakes and scones. My scone tasted excellent, the service was super nice. Be careful: it's only open until 4 p.m.!

Updated 31 August 2024. My wife and myself now visit at least once per week. Excellent food and great service by friendly and courteous staff. Having visited most eateries on and around Dartmoor we can confidently state that the Cafe on the Green serves the best burger in the area.

Gorgeous food with a very well thought out menu. It was busy when we arrived buy got a seat quickly. Drinks and food were ordered and arrived very swiftly. It is clean and service is great. Location is outstanding.

What a lovely place. We parked in the nearby carpark after exploring the moor and had a need for a cup of tea and cake. Both were very good. We then went back on the moor, but thought that it would be a good place to return for a late lunch. That was a great idea. There were a lot more people there on our second visit, and to be honest, why is self-explanatory. We highly recommend due to quality of food, quick service, atmosphere and convenience.

The BEST cream tea I've had in Devon by far! Lovely warm, fluffy scone and plently of clotted cream and jam to go with it. Beautiful location and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend and will be returning on my next visit to Devon.

Great place for breakfast or brunch

Literally 2.mins after 3pm I'm told can't order chips, Yet other customers were still being served there food. I know there has to be a cut off but this was a little of and the guy at the counter was incredibly curt. Never been here before, such a shame

It's a beautiful cafe but I would appreciate some more basic food options or extending the time of the smaller breakfast items. I had to resort to just having a packet of crisps on my visit.

The best restaurant and café I have seen on our trip so far. The service is very well organized, the food is so delicious, lots of vegetarian and vegan dishes, high-quality products, ecologically considered, friendly and with great style and ambience... it's a shame that more than 5 stars are not possible. Love the food, the menu isn’t what I might usually select - but it’s always fresh, local and delicious- I come back here regularly- one of my favourite places to eat. Chips are particularly- to be fair - so is everything else Highly recommended Drinks are done well too

Great service today. 13 of us motorcyclists arrived together when the cafe was already busy, however staff happy and helpful, with food and drink brought quickly. A lovely garden overlooking the village.

Had a beautiful brie bacon and chilli jam toastie here. It was great value for money and the service was great polite staff and very quick. It is in a lovely setting. Also big plus point dog friendly inside and out.🐾🐾

We’ve eaten here a couple of times and it’s been good both times. It’s a little pricey but the food is nice and there’s a good selection, especially vegetarian options. I had the harissa aubergine and chickpea salad which was really nice. My husband had the burger which he enjoyed. The rosemary salted chips were delicious and nicely cooked. Nice selection of cakes too and free water. Dogs are welcome inside and out. Free gravy bones too. The decor is lovely, especially the toilets! There is a little area selling gifts too. We’ll definitely be back.

Fabulous cafe in a beautiful Dartmoor village. Very cosy and friendly on the wettest day of May, with food that was excellent. An interesting book corner and a good range of cakes meant that we could stay a good while and wait out the weather. Highly recommend even if it’s not raining 😜

Lovely cafe, we had lunch here during half term and it was really lovely, good value and very nicely presented on nice plates and very tasty food., nice cakes I had a yummy apple and blackberry flapjack with white choc on top. The decor it wonderful and it was packed shows how popular it is. Highly recommend.

Absolute gem in the middle of Dartmoor. Lovely home cooked food - just had the cherry and pistachio cake and it was divine. Lunch salad of falafel and carrot hummus salad also delicious. Highly recommend.

Worth making a special trip for the breakfast, a memorable egg chilli and cheese bagel.

What a lovely cafe. We stopped off for a cake & hot drink. Excellent hot chocolate and the carrot cake & salted chocolate brownie were very tasty. The place has such a lovely atmosphere inside, tables are not on top of each other which is nice

This place is such a treat and you can take your dog 🐕. The food is great and lovely coffees too. Definitely one of my favourite places to go.

Well, not been here for years and didn't realise it had been totally refurbished. What a treat. Went here on offchance as we could not get in anywhere for Mother's Day. I can honestly say this was the best cream tea I have had in this area for a long time. The Cafe was heaving but was given a table within 15 minutes and the staff were fantastic. It was so well organised I was amazed, considering how many people were in there. Lovely tea. Loose leaf and home made perfect scones. Well done. I will be back 👍

Fantastic place to have brunch in the snow

Visited Cafe on the Green for a cream tea. Over the years I have had many cream teas and the one provided by the Cafe on the Green was one of the best. The scone was lovely and light in texture, the jam was good and plenty of clotted cream was provided. The tea provided was very good. Service was provided promptly and with a smile. Will be returning again soon.

Perfection. The moment you arrive at Widecombe you will find tucked into the countryside greenery & moorland hills this beautiful venue. Equally as beautiful is the interior, as you step inside the warm glow of the fire licks the wall to give you a snug welcome. Just as warming is the staff with their friendly very smiley welcome, knowledge and attention to detail. A counter laced with fantastic baked goods and a small shop like corner selling some local bits is also a wonderful addition. Now to the main event, the food! Absolutely incredible, very fresh, quick and so delicious! I’d of eaten it all over again. This is a must visit! All that is left to be said is we have found our little slice of breakfast heaven and can not wait to keep returning. Thank you to all the cafe on the green team.

Wow, on a cold Saturday in January, and we had to wait for a table to come free - such is the popularity of Cafe on the Green. Very well looked after by the waitress in charge of locating tables. Three hot drinks, one brownie, one burger, and a cream tea later, and we were all satisfied. Even our Lab was welcome, and she enjoyed the jar of 'gravy bones' just inside the door. Definitely coming back...

Excellent all round well worth a visit

Very expensive and trying to be a bit different in the food options available rather than just offering good quality, traditional foods. Tiny tea pot with leaf tea and a vile tasting over-priced can of imitation cola! It’s great if you don’t mind paying for an overpriced toastie and yuppy drinks. But next time we visit widdercombe, we’ll try the pub instead!!

They were so busy on a wet Sunday lunch time but still managed to get all ten of us in and at one large table, the food was excellent and the staff were fantastic.

Food is always delicious and service is always really quick with polite and friendly staff. Lots of locally sourced food & drink which is great to see. The perfect place to stop off after a walk on the moors.

One of our favourite places. Food is good, coffee is great and so is the atmosphere. Good value. You'll need to hitch on to the cafe WiFi to pay for parking as there's no "G" in the village as it's in a valley in the middle of Dartmoor.

An amazing cafe in a large renovated barn. Smart interior and plenty of tables. Sodden dogs and hikers welcome. Friendly staff and quick service (card accepted). Great brunch and lunch menus (see pictures - accurate as of Dec'23). A real asset to Widecombe and well worth a visit.

Visited after getting soaked on the moors. There was a small queue which moved quickly, then we were lucky to get a table next to a fire. The food is great, and the staff very friendly and efficient. I'll definitely return next time I'm out walking.

After taking my Jaguar for a trip around Dartmoor I end up in the Cafe on the Green.The cappuchino good and the cakes superb. Widecombe is beautiful with its walks,flora and fauna.There's a babbling brook. I live in Torquay and the cafe is my bolthole. Staff clean and presentable. See you soon!! Roger Hall

Love this place always visit when in the area paying my respects to two amazing ladies that were a big part of my childhood and teen years the lovely rosemary and miss brune Widcombe in the Moor and dartmoor are in my soul. the cream tea is the best around, in my opinion. Service is above and beyond and is dog friendly, always fresh. I would definitely recommend a visit if in the area 😊

The pinnacle of decadence, with friendly staff, this is the place for a deeply luxurious post-moor experience. Beware, the intensity generous portions of clotted cream may make you reconsider your tolerance of dairy… however, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely love visiting the Cafe on the Green. Has a really cozy ambiance, always lovely and warm in Winter. The food and drink is exceptional. I highly recommend the Cacao and Banana smoothie. The staff are always really welcoming and friendly and the service is quick. Always come here when visiting Dartmoor. Plus there’s loads of parking and it’s super dog friendly!

Perfect and luscious seasonal mince tarts. Full on flavour and crunchy almond top. The coffee is pretty good too as is all the food. Cosy log fires. Doggy friendly. Very attractive interior with vaulted ceilings. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Very good as always. A slight issue for me was that my Latte could have been hotter. I didn't go back to ask as we were with friends who were paying but I am sure they would have heated it for me. Service very prompt as usual.

Beautiful cosy cafe. Came in for lunch after a blustery rainy walk up to bonehill rocks and back. Great vegan options (had sweetcorn fritters) and we shared a lovely cardamom bun. The food and all the service were super quick and efficient. Thanks for a lovely time!

Love this place, food always so good, staff always pleasant. So happy that the family members who choose a plant based diet are catered for, with plenty of variety on the menu and the same excellent quality throughout. Large car park adjacent is not owned or run by the cafe, usually plenry of spaces and minimal parking charges at £1.60 for two hours.

Fabulous cream teas. The cheese scones with cheese and chutney were very highly recommended by my friends. Excellent drinks choices. Roomy and pleasant interior seating. Extensive outdoor seating too.

If you're visiting Dartmoor, then this place is a great option for food and drink. They serve breakfast, lunch, sweet treats, and cream teas. I believe they're dog friendly, definitely people friendly, and there's even a little gift store. You can't book a table, but there's plenty of space. It's next to a car park (pay and display) and has free Wi-Fi. FYI: The car park doesn't take cards, and the phone signal is not good. Nonetheless, don't let that deter you from visiting.

Great find with great food and a lovely cup of tea 😁

The first disappointment was the £2 parking charge and there was very little parking otherwise available. This was extremely dog friendly with 3 well behaved animals that easily made their way between the clean and tidy tables/chairs as their owners found empty spaces in the spacious dining area. Despite the number of young people seated behind the counter, one had to go to the counter to place an order. The friendly staff were not long in bringing our order to the table. We had a Brie brown baguette accompanied with a leaf salad and apple juice and soup with a Cappucino that came to just over £23.00. All of the food was tasty and ample.

We have visited several times over the last few weeks. We usually have a cream tea and coffee. The coffee is excellent but the cream tea is absolutely incredible. The scones are by far the best we have had anywhere, and the clotted cream and jam is plentiful. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, the service is also quite excellent. Even the area is wonderful. A place not to be missed

Kitchen is closed even though open 5 minutes earlier Should have gone to the Rock Inn or The Rugglestone Unbelievable expect customer service like that in London not in Devon

Have always visited this café when in Widecombe in the Moor. Lovely setting in one of Dartmoor's prettiest villages. Friendly staff and good food of reasonable value.

The cafe has evolved over the years from a basic tea room to a more sophisticated location serving breakfasts and lunch as well, of course, as Devon cream teas! Comfortable interior with some cosy seating and well equipped garden for sunny days. Free wi-fi is essential for those using the Ringo app to pay for parking! Perfect stop-off point if you’re exploring Dartmoor.
