This is a lovely place to drop into for a coffee and a snack on a nice day. When I visited there were only 2 tables which were not outside so not ideal in poor weather, but on a warm day it is very pleasant.Hot snacks were available but I couldn’t resist a lime flavoured chocolate chip cookie with my Cappuccino. An interesting combination which seemed to work. The deli and greengrocers within the same complex were a bit on the expensive side for me but ok if you like that kind of thing.

This is based on two separate visits. Both times the opening hours were different to those stated - all information states 9am, but we have been turned away or told to wait until 10 or later on both occasions. If this is the opening time for the shop rather than the cafe, or something of that nature, this needs to be made much clearer - I am certainly not the only person to have fallen foul of this. On the first visit in earlier in the year I was rudely turned away by young staff members who gave the impression that they were annoyed to have their conversation about something on one of their phones interrupted by a customer before opening time (despite arriving after the aforementioned time stated on website and social media). I fear that they had perhaps discounted me as someone their own age on account of my college jacket, and did not give me the courtesy they might afford a more mature-looking customer. On the second occasion we arrived at around 9.45, were told to wait until 10, and then had to wait until 10.20 to finally get a coffee (which certainly wasn't worth the wait when it did arrive). There was no apology, and certainly no sense of urgency on behalf of the staff - just a complete lack of consideration! It was a cloudy and windy day, and there was a number of very elderly customers also waiting very long periods of time while standing out in these conditions, having fallen victim to the moveable opening times as well. I am generally very patient with staff at busy times and with businesses adapting to reopening, however, the cafe at the gog has been open for months, and to be having these kinds of issues is extremely disappointing. Above all, the customer service and general lack of friendly or helpful demeanour has put an end to any future attempt to go there for a positive experience. This is a real shame, as I had previously heard good things about this place and it had a solid local reputation.

I went for lunch yesterday after a walk in Wandelbury. We were really hungry and ordered 2 bowls of minestrone soup and a scotch egg. The scotch egg was really nice but the soup was awful.

The state of their toilets are enough to put you off eating there and they are always like this. For a cafe that charges at the higher end and is always busy, they should really invest in some better toilets other than temporary loos, or at least ensure they are cleaned.

We visited here today with our 3 children & friends & their children. All were enrolled on the Chocolat Chocolat half term workshop in The Shack. We were greeted warmly & the children were seated & well looked after by the staff. There was a plentiful supply of chocolate & toppings, making the session very good value & super tasty for the kids! The session was very relaxed & the children were able to be really creative. After the session, whilst the chocolate hardened, we grabbed some delicious hot drinks from the on site cafe & had a lovely walk over the field & in the woods. A perfect autumnal afternoon, thanks!

I had a lovely cheese scone in the cafe the other morning. It wasn’t busy and there were plenty of staff around but unfortunately the service was very poor. My tea arrived minus the scone and I waited for a while waiting for it to appear. When It didn’t, I went to ask for it. All I got was an ‘Oh’ from the member of staff who then went to get it. She brought it to my table and just put it down and walked away. No apology. No napkin was brought with it so I went and asked for one. Again, just a sullen look from the member of staff, so I reached over and picked up my own napkin. I then realised I had only been given one small portion of butter! I didn’t go and ask for more, I just ate half the scone and took the other half home with me. Better supervision of the staff was required that day.

We've lived nearby for five years and standards have plummeted over that time. Popped in for the first time in ages today as we cycled past and were charged £18.50 for a coffee, a juice, a tiny bowl of soup and a salmon bagel which came untoasted and with no side salad as menu had promised, and about as appealing as a service station sandwich. I asked for it to at least be toasted as per the menu and it came back 2 mins later with a new half-toasted bagel and the old filling hastily scraped on to the top. With such a prime location how can they get it so wrong? The kitchen seems to be consistently overwhelmed and increasingly penny pinching.

We called in here for lunch on Fathers’ Day having found pubs completely full. We sat outside in the sun, overlooking the ripening barley field, and enjoyed terrific burgers served with coleslaw, salad and crisps. The pea and falafel burgers were moist and minty, perfectly presented - this type of burger can sometimes be dry and crumbly. Myself, my partner and mother in law stopped here for lunch on the way back from Addenbrookes and frankly this will be the last time. This place is clearly focused on making money and not delivering any sort of value or service. Firstly we had to clear our own table after waiting for it to be cleared, so we ended up having to take it to the counter ourselves. We ordered 3 sausage rolls (£4.50 for a sausage roll with a small garnish is frankly insulting) and 3 pots of tea. The tea is, leaf tea placed inside a diffuser, which didn’t even reach the water, I complained to a staff member, and before I opened my mouth she said “we get loads of complaints about this but the management don’t do anything about it” she gave me tea bags for the pot, which, by the way, was filthy. We also ordered a sandwich which was on cheap bread with not much filling. The cutlery was dirty and really the whole experience was pretty awful. There was no manager on site to discuss our concerns with, just a young team without guidance. This was evident from the off, as they were happier having fun in the kitchen. I’m happy to pay if the offering is worth it, but sadly it isn’t here. We won’t be back.

However we have noticed the same issues every time we have been there, and now they are noticeable it has become annoying. They do a great selection of leaf tea but every time it is delivered there is no milk and sugar with it. If you don’t spot it immediately the staff will have left out the back and you need to wait for them to arrive back before you can ask them for it, and then to return with it again. Not ideal when you are sat outside and the tea is cooling rapidly.

We were greeted with a very small plate of food which is a disappointment when you have spent £8.50 for one piece of toast. The coffee was not hot and not once where we asked if everything was ok.

Limited choice lunch menu with boring carb/bread based options. Dull parsnip soup with doorstop bread. Very busy so I doubt the owners care much but a complete waste of a great location. Will just stick to the shop and deli next time.

I used to enjoy coming here for lunch, not any more. The last few times I’ve been it hasn’t been as good. The last time it was dire.

Went hear for lunch, we had been a few times before in the past. The food was very limited and most of it no longer home made (and tasted like it wasn't). Service OK but quality and taste of food poor.

I have been going here from Colchester regularly to go to the farm shop and get a meal for the last 7 years! Recently though the service is bad, no food is every left on the breakfast or lunch menu and coffee seems weak and lukewarm. For the price of the items on the menu the quality should be better. I wonder who is managing the cafe now?

I came here with my parents and sister for a quick brekkie. We ordered full English breakfasts which came quickly. The quality of the food was very good. Everything is clearly fresh. The sausages were delicious, the bread, lovely and the butter to die for. Price wise, it was on the pricey side and they didn't offer poached or scrambled eggs as an option, only fried. The decor was lovely and cosy and the staff, friendly. I'll be back if I'm in the area.

Delicious food, and staff are friendly. Lovely to sit outside on a beautiful summers day. Although I’ve yet to experience the Gog Magog of an evening - the bar set up looks and sounds fun.

Great food and great service! Quick snack to eat before launching into the hustle and bustle of Cambridge. Home made fare of pastries, cakes and sausage rolls looked good enough to eat, but had to know where and when to stop!

Cool wine country vibe. I went with a friend while visiting Cambridge. Such a lovely surprise for Californian to be surrounded by the wine country, fresh farm to table vibe. Great for casual dining and for picking up high quality food

Visiting the cafe on Sunday it was disappointing to see such a sparse selection of savory foods on display despite it being early lunchtime. The staff all appeared young and those I spoke to displayed little interest in customers. Having queued twice for foods which then turned out to be unavailable we progressed to the Shack where choice was bizarrely limited and what we had was overpriced given the quantity, quality, (the coleslaw resembled Sainsburys basics), and the fact we were seated in a scruffy cow shed. Looking at other comments I suspect the owners don't actually view this feedback given the level of dissatisfaction and the fact we actually visited there yesterday. I would suggest, if they are selling the business, (which maybe the reason for the problems yesterday), they do so quickly whilst there is one or, if they intend to remain in place, they install some mature manager who can at least manage the young staff and be present to actually inject some level of customer attention.

Was looking forward to our second visit during the advertised cheese festival. Thought we'd have some brunch so we decided to go to the cafe first. A bit of a queue and curiously slow it was too. This prompted one particular question from both of us, given we had, like mist people, been to thousands of cafes.......what was the problem, why are we waiting so long, why are the staff in tbe background rather than serving, why are the staff looking harassed and why is there a 15 minute wait for coffee and prepared food which doesn't require heating? A complete and utter mystery, unless....Unless they had not thought about preparing for the possible increase in numbers for the "cheese festival".

Having been here several times and each time a memorable experience my partner and I decided to take a detour on route to Nottingham. We both had the delicious three herb and mustard scotch egg with a side serving of coleslaw, both delicious as always. Unfortunately my partner had an issue during our visit, however this was dealt with immediately and efficiently. Therefore I would really like to take this opportunity to commend the professionalism of the team. From the initial waiting staff to the proprietor, all were “top class” and what really stood out was their attentiveness and genuine care for their customers. Another great experience and very much looking forward to our return.

We went during the "cheese festival", which was very popular, but still the coffee shop was overwhelmed. It took 20 mins for our coffees to arrive, and the selection of food items wasn't that great. It would have been lovely if there had been a veggie sausage roll or scotch egg option.

We stopped here for some lunch when visiting Cambridgeshire for the first time and having come from a rural areas with many farm shops we were impressed. The cafe was lovely and the food was simple but very good. However when we went into the deli shop, the female shop assistant behind the counter had a very rude and abrupt manor and made us feel uncomfortable looking around the shop. This spoilt our experience, I would however highly recommend the visiting the cafe.

Having been to the Cafe at Gog Magog for nearly 5 years, I can honestly say I won’t be retuning. Such a shame as it is so close to my home, but every visit I make seems to be worse than the previous. It has been on a steady downward spiral for a few years now, but I think they’ve finally hit rock bottom. I went in recently for breakfast/brunch and ordered a bacon sandwich to which I was very rudely told they had run out of bacon. This was barely 11 o clock! They also didn’t have any of the savoury muffins and they only had 1 cheese scone left. The coffee was extortionate in price and came lukewarm when it eventually was served. I also had the displeasure of visiting when a group of loud, screaming children were present. In general, the whole cafe is far too noisy and the staff look permanently annoyed or irritated. In future, I will quite happily drive a little bit further to Burwash Manor or even the Waitrose cafe, both of which are reliable for good ambience, service and produce.

Gogs café has tried hard to improve its speed of service and has a delightful manager. We used to have to wait 20 minutes for coffee to reach our table. More recently, though, the service has continued to be flakey in other respects - by the time we'd finished our coffee, the cake we ordered hadn't turned up. Disappointing that the staff simply offered it as a take away after I pointed the error out. More professional set-up at the Shelford Deli, Teacake in Shepreth and the Milton Country Park Café.

I live locally and each time I have gone to the Cafe at the Gog Magog has been a disappointment (an expensive one). There are many lovely places around Cambridge and surrounding areas which are far better: the Deli in Great Shelford for instance is expensive but the food is fresh, great quality and the service is quick and efficient. This is sadly not the case for the Gog Magog Cafe.

We stopped in this café a few month ago for a coffee, cake and my favourite their sausage roll. All made from their own farm produce. The farm shop has a wide range of wonderful meat, cheese, veg and many, many other delights. This is a remarkable enterprise, run with energy, care and professionalism. We will be returning.

Such a lovely little visit, especially on a nice day to sit outside. The coffees are nice, but could always be a little hotter as usually only warm. Highly recommend the scotch egg, sausage roll and cheese scone. We usually get them and share between us so you can have a little bit of each. Friendly staff. A little expensive but worth it for a treat every now and then. Lovely to have a little look round the deli and butchers as well!

Goodness I pity you lot in Cambridgeshire if this is what you think a good farm shop cafe is. However, I have good news: if you ever visit other farmshops elsewhere in the country then you will be REALLY impressed!

Following a recommendation, my wife and I had our first visit yesterday and it certainly didn't disappoint. We sampled lunch in the Café; bought a selection of items in the Deli; and on entering the Butchery were given a taste of a venison stew - marvellous! We even bought a Lamb Tagine from their freezer which we ate later that evening and enjoyed a great deal. The staff were both cheerful, friendly and helpful.

There are many out of town farm type shops and cafes. I have been to some really great ones, but I'm afraid this one misses the mark. On the plus side, the carrot and courgette soup was wholesome and tasty, but couldn't actually discern the carrot, and it was accompanied by plain white bread and a frozen pat of butter that ripped the bread apart attempting to spread it (see photograph). The place was busy and staff were pleasant, but moving round at a dizzy rate of knots. When it came to the coffees, they were disappointing (and I had a coffee aficionado with me, who knew).

We tried this place for coffee and cake, both of which were superb! The ambience is also good and the service prompt and friendly, so I was inspired to do a good review on Trip Advisor. I was quite surprised to read the negative reviews; we will definitely be back, probably for a meal next time rather than just coffee.

The Gogs is a lovely little café but on a recent visit I noticed that the revised menu is extremely limited. The only choice for a lunch is a ploughman's to share, scotch egg and 2 types of soup. There was the promise of sausage rolls but would need to wait 25mins and as I was on my lunch break I didn’t have time to wait. There is an abundance of cake and good coffee/tea to choose from, but I can’t understand why they can’t add a panini or jacket potato to the menu. This place is constantly packed out so expect to wait for a seat at peak times or sit out in the cold.

Foolishly I took my daughter for a little treat on her birthday on 23rd December. We checked the website to see if the cafe was open and it appeared that it was. On arrival we discovered that only the shack was. We should have gone elsewhere. Instead I ordered two drinks, a sausage sandwich and scone. They were bought over and almost thrown onto the table. Service was non existent. The sandwich was wrapped in baco foil and the scone in a bag. The girl was very annoyed when I asked for two plates. Although there was only a few people they still managed to forget my daughters hot chocolate. For some reason the heating was not working. All in all a very miserable experience. The service used to be good but it has gone downhill.

Family collected a vegetarian regular burrito and sweet potato fries whilst they got themselves a KFC. Being vegetarian El Mexicana has always been my favourite fast food option …. However, after their new shake up I will never use them again. According to my daughter who ordered food, there were so many limited options - no refined beans, no onions and peppers, no lettuce, only one sauce so couldn’t have sour cream and salsa which is the norm. Apparently burrito had veg chilli in it, but after inspecting it all I found was a few kidney beans. Ended up with a very small tortilla wrap with rice and black beans mixed with sour cream. No flavour, wet, no substance and a fraction of the size of normal. Size wasn’t a problem as it ended up in the bin! Sweet potatoes were burnt and portion measly. El Mexicana used to be the best Mexican and vegetarian fast food around, but unless they revert back to how they were I won’t go back. Disgusting food. Terrible options. Poor service. Poor portion control. Needs a major shake up!

Poor quality food, seriously overpiced. More expensive than five guys with meat quality similar to a burger van. Both kids burgers were burn't. Nobdy around to complain to. Mediocre chicken burger and chips £14!

I rated O’Reillys as a 1 because it was such a terrible lacklustre experience. The service and food choices were terrible. I raved about O’Reillys to friends and family now I’m backtracking big time. Never again! For the long trip up the mountain to experience sub optimal cafe and facilities. O’Reillys you can do better than this.

Cons: Customer Service is often poor, I often feel like I am being pressured shout out my order at speed. Its a very uncomfortable experience. Furthermore there are often long queues to get served. Hence why I go to this subway once every few months as opposed to once a week or so in the past. Pros: Sandwiches are tasty and consistently hit the spot.
