The Cabin in Highland

Wow the Cullin Skink soup was fantastic to start. We had lobster betwen us for main course, tasty delious food. Only a small place, you can't book. (I kept trying to ring) Top Tip Get of the train and get there asap as it fills up, and they only do lunch. When we arrived they had a note on the door saying full ,but my wife went round the side asked if they could fit us in. Ime so glad as he squeezed us in. (Thankyou so much) people kept coming but we were lucky. Does not disapoint.

Having arrived in Mallaig with the Jacobite Steam Train, we stopped over in this small, cozy place for lunch. Little did we know of the seafood-fest that would await us. The waiter was super friendly and competent, the fish was fresh and delicious (we had the battered monkfish with chips, hake in a buttery sauce and the langoustines which came in a very, very generous portion. The perfect lunch!

What a fabulous experience!! The food was amazing and the service to match. Beautifully cooked to order seafood and fish! So fresh and very tasty. We have had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would definitely recommend this restaurant if visiting Mallaig. It was worth the three and a half hour drive from Blairmore.

Ci siamo rifugiati qui in una fredda e piovosa giornata, ed abbiamo trovato molto più del fish&chips che ci aspettavamo: un ristorantino (che fa anche take-away) con ambiente caldo ed accogliente, ottimo pesce ma anche alternative vegetariane, ed un proprietario gentilissimo, dal sorriso contagioso, di quelli che si vede che lo fanno con e per passione. Se a fine pranzo avete ancora un pochino di spazio, provate la loro cheesecake. Prezzi onesti (per gli standard scozzesi), insomma da consigliare assolutamente.

Aangezien ons hotel hier vlakbij zat hier binnen gewandeld en een overheerlijke Megrim Sole gegeten! Nette en zeer vriendelijke bediening. Zeker een aanrader om hier te gaan eten!

Geweldig lekkere tong (megrim sole) gegeten. Ik ben nooit zo weg van witvis, maar deze was super! En vrolijke, aardige bediening.

The fish is super fresh and the portions are generous. I had the best grilled Monkfish I have ever had in my life. My husband really liked the fish and chips. Loved it!

This tiny restaurant is a jewel. Just a few tables, but with a great choice of seafood on offer - all well cooked and presented. Some good wine choices too, but don’t expect anything other than a cafe environment. The front of house service is friendly and engaging, and the food is beyond reproach. No opportunity to book - it’s first come, first served. But worth waiting for!

Hier moet je echt geweest zijn tijdens je bezoek aan Mallaig! Het is een kleinschalig restaurant, echt heel leuk. Wij waren vroeg dus ober Craig had alle tijd voor ons, we voelden ons meteen welkom. De inktvisringen, langoustines, mosselen en viskoekjes, alles was even heerlijk en zo vers. Echt genoten!!

O my O my, absolutely outstanding - blew us away! See the picture below, and if that is what Cullen Skink soup is, I want a lot more of it! Excellent fish and the new potatoes were delicious!! You won’t find better! Thank you for such a delicious meal. Outstanding server is a real credit to the place!!

Went to the establishment on a whim after missing the ferry and it completely made our night! The seafood platter was astonishing and the amazing staff making sure we did not miss out on anything topped it off with an extra plate of sprats. Everyone was truly amazing, welcoming and the food was truly delicious. Definitely recommend if you also miss the ferry (and need a pick me up) or happen to be in Mallaig.

A birthday treat. The seafood “plater” was amazing. The quality and quantity was outstanding, it should have been called a seafood banquet. A minor criticism would be due to the quantity it would have been better served in stages to avoid some dishes getting cold. Service was great.

We were on jacobite express so looked for lunch in millaig. The cabin was our choice fantastic food beautiful wine excellent service. You won't find better . I had salmon and dill fishcake with salad and potatoes my husband had megrin sole with salad and chips. He said the best fish he had ever eaten. My fishcakes were delicious too. We were staying in Arisaig and went for a day trip. With the steam train being in the town was very busy but the Cabin managed to get us a table. Very friendly and knowledgeable server. I had one of the specials, brill my wife had breaded haddock. The fish was so fresh and excellently prepared. A lovely friendly atmosphere in the restaurant. Will visit again

Geweldig visrestaurant, klein, dus je moet op tijd zijn, want vol is vol, ober Craig is een vat vol kennis, en kan je alles vertellen over de gerechten, of de streek, of wat je ook wil weten. Hij bleek zelfs op de hoogte te zijn van het Belgische voetbal!

We found this gem by chance. Fantastic seafood (mussels and langoustines for me) - very well prepared and good-sized portions. Excellent and attentive service too. Terrific.

Amazing food and amazing service. Recommended to go either before the Jackobite arrives or after as it gets full very quickly but don't worry, they also have a take away. Located opposite the harbour shop on the corner. The food is beautifully cooked to perfection, if I didn't know any different I would have said I was in a Michelin Style restaurant 😋

We had a wonderful dinner out The Cabin in Mallaig. Excellent, uncomplicated seafood dishes. Casual, friendly atmosphere with fantastic service. Reservations were not being taken when we went, so arrive early or be prepared to wait for a little while. I noticed the takeout window was very busy, too, which is a nice option if you don't want to dine in!

Fabulous meal whilst staying locally . Don’t expect sophisticated surroundings, The Cabin is all about the fish … it speaks for itself . Menu full of local catches , I had hot salmon starter, my husband had mussels. Mains were Megrim and Monkfish , all dishes were absolutely fabulous. The wine list is not extensive, but excellent nonetheless. The owner/ front of house guy was so engaging and seemed genuinely interested in all the guests . We had such a lovely evening and would most certainly recommend to anyone visiting the area .

SO pleased I did research about the best places to eat in Mallaig because The Cabin was amazing. Great people, the freshest seafood I’ve ever eaten and a really relaxed atmosphere. The seafood is a little expensive but you get what you pay for so as a treat it was perfect. Super friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Doesn’t open on a Wednesday so try and take a trip to Mallaig on any other day so you can experience this restaurant.
