A great find on the edge of brick lane. Welcoming stop for a late morning coffee. A peaceful location. With nice outside corner. Delightful.

This is an excellent establishment and the perfect place for refreshment after a bit of shopping. We were warmly welcomed and staff were helpful in providing suggestions on the drinks we were choosing. Good quality and efficient service. My daughter accidentally left her bag in the bar area and we didn't realise until we were on the train. Not only did the staff look after the bag for us, they kindly posted it onto us. We are very grateful for their help with returning it. I will definitely return to The Buxton on my next trip to London. The food looks amazing and I'd like to try it!

Booked with friends for a long lunch in London. The concept of small plates and high quality cheferie worked brilliantly. A lot of effort clearly goes into sourcing the best ingredients, the langoustine and red mullet being perfect examples. Flavours were amazing, with the duck on toast and clams (with the aforementioned red mullet) the highlights. Ollie and team did a great job, and the proximity to the open kitchen adds to the dining experience. Really relaxed setting with friendly staff, The Buxton has a buzz about it which fits the locality makes it one of the most exciting dining options in the area. Can't wait to go back!

This converted Victorian pub in Aldgate East, London E1, at the start of Brick Lane and trendy Spitalfields, offers great informal breakfasts, lunch and dinner. The young, dynamic chef Ollie Sharpe has revamped the menu, with waiter service and small-plate fare, and welcoming walk-ins. Ollie is ably assisted by the ever-inventive Lily. Everything is prepared/cooked to order, and there’s none of this rubbish two-hour slots that have ruined leisurely dining in so many restaurants. There are good beers and a fantastic natural wine list, with many wines available by the glass. A range of super cocktails is on offer, including classic negroni. I ordered a bottle of very drinkable Italian Ciu Ciu Rosso (£36) and food from the ever-changing blackboard menu. The whipped cod’s roe on polenta/chickpea cake is a signature starter. I opted for two slices (£8). Three langoustines with fermented shrimp butter (£20) were as fresh as a daisy, and a special of new-season asparagus with fresh herbs from the roof (£9) was outstanding. I was tempted by a cheese selection with quince jelly (£13.50), but the rhubarb and custard tart (£8) won out. I sat at the counter overlooking the bar and open kitchen, with good light for me to read the newspaper and chat to Aris, Alfie, Jude and Oyti serving drinks. But many customers were outside on the terrace, enjoying the sunshine. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and obviously loving their work. Roger Evans

We visited the Buxton this evening to celebrate my birthday, just my husband and I. We received the warmest of welcomes, and the warmth in the service did not stop there. Great wine recommendations, checking in with us throughout our ( quite frankly delicious) meal, complimentary pana cotta for desert, and the offer of tequila before we left (politely declined as we are not big drinkers), All making for a really enjoyable evening, with a very personal touch, which we very much enjoyed xx

We had four friends over from New Zealand and enjoyed taking them to Shoreditch and Brick Lane on a Sunday. Rather than a curry for lunch we went to the Buxton for a roast. Staff were pleasant and we ordered roast beef and roast chicken. For £20 plus 12.5 discretionary service charge we received a very salty meal on quite small plates and no Yorkshire puds available. No reduction in price . 1 carrot, 3 half’s of small roast potatoes, 2 florets of cauliflower, a portion of kale and two slices of processed beef. No mustard offered only some horseradish. Meals were cold and very disappointing. Won’t be back in a hurry!

So I arrived early ~6pm for dinner as I had Jack tour to attend. Normally, The Buxton on Brick Lane takes reservations with a credit card but I wasn't sure if I could actually make it as I was flying in that afternoon, so I tried the walk-in approach. The Buxton's manager hesitated for a moment but as the pub was half-empty with just drinkers she managed to get me a seat at the Kitchen Counter; this was actually nice as I cook see them cook the meals right there in front of me. I was later accompanied by another lady walk-in. I ordered the sage & onion balls, - dry, then a sausage roll - uninspiring, and beef cheeks entrée - fatty but the gravy was awesome. Dinner filled the necessary whole as I had been travelling for 10 hours. The menu changes regularly so I couldn't find what I ordered specifically to refer to, so just my notes on my phone. This was fairly good food, good service, reasonably priced meal. I would come back again.

I am a fan of Sunday roasts so I had well researched (I thought!) where to have one after a visit to Brick Lane. This place had good ratings and so off we booked. Well… 3 « roasts » on the menu: chicken, mackerel and vegetarian. Great that a fish and a vegi option are offered but they are just not Sunday roast material; so we go with chicken and as feared it was really really dry. No gravy either. The chicken was obviously cooked and cut for a while, left in the oven to keep warm and so of course it dried out. If you’re only going to offer 1 meat on your Sunday roast menu, it’s gotta be pretty good… The service was ok, not particularly smiley. So, no we won’t be returning for their Sunday roast, I have no idea why this establishment even pops up when you research « Sunday roast ».

Hello dear staff of the Buxton! We had a very lovely and good time at your pub. We stayed for 5 nights, had two rooms. Very clean, all what we need was there. The staff was very helpfull (we wanted a thinner blanket for the bed), the cleaning lady very friendly and she cleaned properly (thank you); we also had breakfast, which we could choose from different menu's and were all nice and very good food products (especially the baked Piperade was superb and hot - thanks again dear cook). The rooms are quite small, but lovely decorated and furnished. We didn't needed more. The bed ist small for two people, but we won't complain, just saying. The roof top terasse is nice - we couldn't really use it because the weather wasn't that good. But you have a great view over east London. I would come back every time. Thanks again. Keep up the good spirit.

We were just killing time before heading to London City Airport so popped in here for drinks because it looked clean and relaxing despite being on BrickLane. Pleasantly surprised that it was a hotel too so hope to stay here on our next visit. The lady who served our drinks was very hospitable and gave us all the information we asked. We also observed her serving the two tables next to us and the food looked fabulous. Everyone seemed to be enjoying. We sat outside as it was a nice sunny day. Used the toilet inside, the place was clean and fresh. Have added it to my favorites on TripAdvisor for our next visit.

This was once a rundown boozer but has been completely reborn as a brilliant new gastropub and hotel. Really good innovative food on a limited menu. See your dinner being cooked fresh. Great friendly bustling atmosphere with friendly engaging staff. Good quality house wines.

Hidden gem, a place to enjoy a drink or two, on its own or paired with the the French themed cuisine on offer. Great selection of Champagne and best place to try new smaller brands. We are so lucky to live nearby and will pop in very now and then. Quiet and relaxing ambience together with excellent service. What more can you ask for? Top tip: This is a combined bar & restaurant as well as a wine shop!

Knowledgeable staff, nice ambiance with candles on wine bottles. Good for an evening of wine and cheese.

Excellente table.

Great shawarma always make shawarma with fresh naan out of the tandoori unlike other shawarma when they make fresh naan they don’t but some sometimes do but mostly not they make the wrap out of the leftover naan and heat it up in a oven but this is the best one ever

Really lovely place with a beautiful atmosphere and vibe. Delicious food albeit a bit pricey though as close as one can get to a Michelin experience without the fancy pretentious fanfare.
